Escape civilization to this incredible and peaceful getaway! Reconnect with nature and disconnect from technology on your own private deck surrounded by pristine and untouched nature just a short drive away from LA.
This is the personal Airstream of a nature-loving Malibu designer who built it as his personal getaway from his busy hectic schedule. Stripped down to its bare aluminum studs, the airstream has been redesigned into a large studio with three large frameless glass panels that slide open to a huge cantilevered deck with unrivaled views of the pristine Santa Monica mountains rolling down to the Pacific ocean below. Lounge in our luxury extra thick wool rugs and cotton poufs, drive down to surf one of Malibu's best breaks or go hike Sandstone Peak (Santa Monica's highest mountain). But whatever you do, make sure not to miss the incredible sunsets off our deck. At night, watch the milky way appear and count the constellations above or the moon reflect on the ocean below. And if the wind is right, listen to the sounds of the crashing waves travel up the canyon or even the seals barking down below. And then at dawn, if you're lucky with the morning fog, wake up above the clouds like you are the only person in this planet. VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT CLICK ON THE AIRBNB LINK FOR DIRECTIONS as it might take you to the wrong location. Only use the accurate directions provided on our itinerary. If you don't you might get lost and we are not responsible if you do not follow our easy and foolproof directions. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS LISTING if you are afraid of nature or its creatures. Understand you are surrounded by thousands of completely untouched nature. You are very likely to hear (or see) coyotes, owls, seals, roadrunners and bunnies. There is a bobcat in the area but these are usually very skittish. There are a mice in the Santa Monica mountains. About once a month, a guest will complain that they saw a mouse. Said mouse might come into the airstream if food is left outside the fridge. We do not offer refunds if a mouse comes into the airstream but we do have 4 traps around the airstream so the odds are heavily stacked against the mice. In three years we have yet to ever see a rattle snake near the airstream so the area is definitely not prone to them. This listing is weather dependent. If there is a high chance of rain scheduled during your stay we reserve the right to cancel the reservation due to potential slippery road conditions and the fact that we have to store all the expensive furniture inside the airstream. The beauty of this experience lies in seeing infinite views and yet no trace of humankind. Sleeping with the doors open, under the milky-way while hearing the ocean waves crashing below and the occasional seal barking in the distance or coyote howling for its pack. Our guests have the most special nights here. Reconnect with nature and disconnect from technology :-)
Circle x ranch, county line beach, matador beach, zuma as well as many other hikes are all less than 10mn away.

  • Amazing place for sure! Cassy is very friendly. The instructions are very helpful and easy to understand. Everything is perfect! One thing to be careful is making sure to bring a battery by yourself.

  • Have you seen Harry Potter movie? Well, this Airstream and view and stars and ocean and that unique shower that morning breeze.. That's what I personally would call real magic for sure! I'm happy to realize that some people on AirBNB not going for a money/profit only, but actually carefully and thoughtfully working on delivering something more then just a nice stay. They are creating beautiful memories. Thank you Rani, for your talent and for sharing it all with us!

    Maxim2016-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The listing description was perfect, and the photos were a true representation of the space. It truly is indescribable though. It's just a gorgeous spot. Rani was easy to chat with, but we didn't really need anything! I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a gorgeous setting!

  • Absolutely breathtaking and worth every penny! Highly recommended. Five stars!

    Karen2017-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • The airstream was beautiful and was exactly as pictured. We had a wonderful time.

    Laura2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Best views around and a completely unique experience. Maybe I was unfortunate due to weather, but the airstream in and of itself is quite noisy to sleep in. During the night the glass windows kept banging around due to wind, there were also continuous beeps from power sources for the air bnb. Definitely a great location though!

    Blake2017-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This listing wass seriously amazing! There was some difficulty with the power upon our arrival, but Christian and his team worked diligently to get the problem resolved. It was a perfect getaway with amazing views and a relaxing ambiance. The lack of cell phone reception made us disconnect and enjoy the piece and quiet. Highly recommend.

The Joshua Tree House is a two bed two bath 1949 hacienda located 10 minutes from the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park in Joshua Tree, CA. This is a place for dreamers to reset, reflect, and create. Designed with a 'slow' pace in mind, our hope is that you enjoy every part of your stay; from making local coffee by drip in the morning, choosing the perfect record to put on as the sun sets, or by relaxing in the hot tub surrounded by over 100 Joshua Trees and a starry night sky.
Instagram: @thejoshuatreehouse (all photos tagged with #thejoshuatreehouse) This house is very close to downtown Joshua Tree with many shops and restaurants about a 10 minute walk from the house. This also means that some sound from the highway can be heard. If you're looking for a completely silent desert experience, we would recommend our other property: The Joshua Tree Casita (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/10614974). Please also check that listing if you can't find the dates you're looking for. Welcome to the Joshua Tree House! This hacienda was built in 1949. With over 100 Joshua Trees on the property, the views from the house are magical. If you're up for it, sunrise on the front porch is incredible. We estimate that some of the larger Joshua Trees on the property are as old as our country! *Mattresses and Bedding by Casper* There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms in the house, and works well for a group of friends, two couples, or small families. We can also set up an extra memory foam mattress in the hammock room (has privacy with pocket sliding doors) to accommodate groups of six.
Joshua Tree is a small community made up of musicians, artists, and explorers. In the village you will find locally owned and run restaurants, art galleries, music venues, and vintage shops. There are many wonderful places to visit during your stay at the house including the Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy & Harriet's, the Integratron, Salvation Mountain, the Salton Sea, Noah Purifoy Outdoor Museum, Crossroads, BKB Ceramics, and la Copine (a delicious new french restaurant in the desert).
  • We wish we could have stayed longer! One day was definitely not enough. It's obvious that Sara and Rich put lots of attention and care into their selections for the house. We loved the board games [haven't played Parcheesi since I was a kid!] and the record player. The drive to Joshua Tree National Park was easy and quick. Thanks to the guide that Sara provided we easily found places to eat [The Natural Sisters Cafe and Royal Siam Thai] and they were both delicious! Thank you for making our trip so memorable and comfortable! We'll surely be back.

  • Cynthia was a fantastic and welcoming host! My girlfriend and I stayed for three nights over Memorial Day weekend and really enjoyed our stay. The house is quiet and extremely clean and features a fireplace, plenty of porches for reading out of the sun, a great jacuzzi, and a nice kitchen. The location is a short drive from the park entrance and also conveniently close to restaurants, grocery stores, and the brilliantly odd Sky Village swap meet. Thanks, Cynthia!

  • The Joshua Tree House was simply perfect. Every detail was so thoughtful - from the Joshua Tree Coffee to the curated vinyl collection. Sunrise on the porch and sunset in the hot tub were truly magical. Everything was better than advertised and we didn't want to leave. Before arrival, Sara & Rich sent a beautiful PDF of the ins and outs of the house and the area. It was extremely useful in planning. They were also quick to respond to any questions I had and shared great local suggestions! The house was the perfect distance into town, Joshua Tree or for a day trip into Palm Springs. We loved the peace and quiet during the night. Our weather was perfect, so we didn't need to use the heater or a/c, but they were centrally located in all the right rooms. We're already starting to plan another visit back to explore more of Joshua Tree and relax at this beautiful house. We can't wait to see what the new property looks like!

    Mary2016-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Joshua Tree House was nothing short of magical. Sara and Rich were extremely hospitable, and although we didn't meet them they were quick to respond to any inquiries. The house was beautifully decorated and appeared exactly as it did in photos. The location is also just a few minutes from Joshua Tree National park and near lots of great shops and bars. I would go back to Joshua Tree House in a heartbeat! Thank you Sara and Rich!

    Brittany2015-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house in the heart of beautiful Joshua Tree! Couldn't have asked for more of a perfect place during our stay.

    Ryan2016-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sara planned everything out and was incredibly responsive and thoughtful in not only crafting and curating their space, but making sure their visitors were well informed on their area with a list and map of things to do and eat. The house itself is not only beautiful as expected but a very comfortable and a convenient stay. There are tons of cute shops in the area, tasty eats, and it's right by the national park. We loved this little getaway and would absolutely stay here again and again.

    Jen2016-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Loved, loved this beautiful place! So relaxing and serene. Close proximity to the park and lots of cute restaurants :) Thank you for a great stay. Would love to come back some day and explore more!!

    Eva2016-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • The Joshua Tree House was without a doubt, the best place I have ever stayed while traveling! The house was impeccably clean, has a great location, and was incredibly comfortable. There cannot be enough good things said about the beautiful home Sara and Rich have created. We look forward to coming again someday!

With a geodesic dome loft & a large deck in the trees, you'll feel like you're in a tree house in the woods. Since we book so far in advance, if you would like to stay here, check out our other listing, the Hummingbird Haven: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6562632
We have 10 acres next to land without fences so you will get to enjoy nature: just hang out on the deck, take a hike in the woods, watch the hummingbirds, pet the goats, go to the beach or gaze at the stars - as long as the moon isn't full. ; ) During the summer, if there isn't any nightly fog, we can see the Milky Way here. To check our availability, click on the "Request to Book" link. And yes, if it isn't available, it is already booked! If you want to stay here on a weekend, you will usually need to make your reservation request about 9-11 months in advance. (Please read all of this description before making a reservation request.) The cozy and clean semi-rustic cabin has a loft under a geodesic dome (the "mushroom cap"). In the loft is a Queen-sized super popular Casper Mattress which allows for very comfortable sleeping and just hanging out, We provide clean sheets and pillow cases. Plenty of blankets are also provided. The other "bed" is a couch that we can make up into a bed. If there are going to be 2 of you, but you want separate beds, please make the reservation for 3 or let me know ahead of time - there is a $10. charge for using it as a bed. In the loft, we have a 32" HD Flat Screen and a DVD player (no TV) for movies. (We have over 80 movies you can view as well.) On the main floor (a Pentagon) is the couch and a pull-out table. We provide a small refrigerator, a blender, Hot Air Popcorn Popper, French Coffee Press, an Electric Water Kettle, a salad spinner and dishes. Yes, we have a wine opener. We have 2 tables where you can enjoy meals, games, etc.: 1 inside and 1 outside on the large deck that faces the redwoods. We also have a barbecue grill on the deck with an extra gas burner on the side. We provide Organic Coffee, teas, Oatmeal, popcorn, butter, honey, sugar, nutritional yeast (for the popcorn!) spices, oil and vinegar and various snacks. Our well water is treated by an ozonator, a UV light and a soft water filter. If you have a baby and you won't be needing the second bed, make your reservation for 2 and let us know if you will need a small pad for the loft. Again, if there are 2 of you but you want to use the second bed, please make your reservation for 3. The cute bathroom has a Travertine shower, custom tiled sink and a Natures Head self-contained composting toilet. Some guests have had a problem with our bathroom, so I want to make it clear that we have a curtain for the door to the bathroom and we require that you put your used toilet paper in the trash. (it won't smell) If you follow the instructions for how to use the toilet, it won't have any odor. If the thought of using a composting toilet grosses you out, then don't make a reservation here. ; ) We provide towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, a hair blow-dryer, etc. (a word of caution: the bathroom has a low ceiling. If you are over 6' you may have to do a little ducking here and there.) As Saturdays are very much in demand, (and we like to be free on Saturdays), we require a minimum 2 day stay on the weekends. Keep in mind that Friday and Saturday nights are $155. each. Therefore, to stay here on a weekend will cost $310. plus the $35. cleaning fee, the $41 airbnb fee and the 11% Santa Cruz County Transient Tax of about $42. So for the weekend, it will be a total of about $428. To stay for 1 day mid-week costs a grand total of about $200. On 3 day holidays, we require a 3 day reservation. (This includes Presidents Day, Memorial Day, M.L.King day, and Labor Day.) But to stay here on a weekend, you will usually have to book the cabin 6 - 8 months in advance - unless you are lucky to find a cancellation! Check-in time is between 4 and 10pm. If you want to come sooner or later, this can sometimes be arranged. Check-out time is noon. As we have experienced some damage from guests, we are now requiring a $100. security deposit. Although it feels very isolated here, we are less than 10 minutes to Aptos Village where you will find stores, restaurants, a health food store, Safeway, etc. We are centrally located on the Monterey Bay: 10 minutes from the beach (Rio Del Mar and Seacliff State Beach) as well as the 10,000 acre Nisene Marks State Park for miles of hiking or dirt biking in the Redwoods and along Aptos creek. We are 20 minutes to downtown Santa Cruz, 25 min. to the Beach Boardwalk, 45 minutes to Monterey and the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, 50 min. to Carmel and 1 1/2 hours to Big Sur going south and San Francisco to the North. Yup, we are located in one of the most beautiful areas of California. (these times are not during rush hour(s) ; ) If you love hummingbirds, bring your camera. Our garden is the year-round home to many Anna Hummingbirds. (We usually have about 250-500 year-round) During the summer, we are also called home by many Rufus and Allen Hummers as well. So you have got to see our "Hummingbird Airport" where we feed them about 120 oz. of syrup on a summer day! Please, no smoking in the cabin or on the property. We used to let smokers stay here, but they stink up the cabin and it is a fire hazard outside. Some cell phones don't work here, but since we have free wifi in the cabin, if your phone works with a wifi network, you are good to call. You can sometimes get Verizon service on the swinging seat by the driveway. To learn about things to do in the area, do an internet search for Santa Cruz, CA. Dogs are welcome to stay here but with a few requirements: since we have so many animals, we require that your dogs be kept on a leash when outside (the goats get very nervous with large loose dogs). Also, we don't allow dogs in the loft or on the couch downstairs so please bring a doggie bed. (your doggie can go on the couch if you bring a cover for it) If that is difficult, let us know and we will provide a doggie pillow. We have a gate that we can set up so your dog can be off the leash on the deck. If you are bringing a small child, we can put a folding futon (2/3rds of the futon or a foam pad next to the bed ) Just let us know ahead of time. Keep in mind, though, that a child should not be left in the loft by themselves as the bed is fairly high up against the rail. As we are about 3 miles to the nearest bus stop, it is pretty difficult to stay here without a car. You are invited, if you feel you would be harmonious here. Pet the goats, check out our chickens, cats, miniature dog and enjoy the very fresh air. I might even teach you how to milk a goat. If you come here when there is no moonlight and the sky is clear, you will see lots of stars. Tired of the heat in the summer? Since we are on the edge of the "fog belt", it can be both sunny and cool here. If you want a noisy place, you won't like it here: most of the sound here comes from the birds or crickets chirping, the tree frogs croaking and the breeze blowing through the trees. People do live on the land here though, so don't expect it to be totally devoid of human sounds and the occasional chain saw. : ) (We feed the goats oak branches)
Even though we live only a 8 minute drive to Aptos village and the beaches, it feels very remote and private here. It is usually very quiet at night - sometimes we can hear the ocean waves crashing on the beach. There is lots of land to hike on and explore here as well. We have 11 people living here in a rather loose community.
  • There is a reason why this place has glowing reviews. AirBnB is not only about the places to stay, but the hosts as well. This place was no exception. The Mushroom Dome is one of the best places I have stayed at hands down, not only because of the incredibly unique place, but also the wonderful hospitality we received from Kitty. She is one of the most inspirational people I have met, and one of the warmest. Is it weird to say I wish she was my mom?!? My friend and I felt extremely welcomed at her family's property, because Kitty goes out of her way to show us how to use the Mushroom Dome properly, and let us explore the property. When you are there, you are in nature. You feel like you are a woodland creature exploring this beautiful forested area, emerging from your extravagant mushroom dome abode. My friend and I both felt incredibly at peace, because we had an amazing time staying just one night at Kitty's wonderful cabin (that she fixed up herself! She is super woman if there ever was one!). The animals were great, goats and chickens and two little dogs (Elliot and Creature) and two soft sociable kitties (Emmy and Milo). The night we stayed here was the only day available while my friend and I were on our road trip, and I booked it immediately because I knew this was one place I would never forget. There are a multiplicity of reasons why this place is one of the most popular on AirBnB, but one of the main ones is Kitty's incredible hospitality. The night I spent there was the last night of my road trip, and it was a truly spectacular ending to a great AirBnB experience. I am itching to get back here, not only for the wonderful cabin, but also for the other places that Kitty is building (she is extremely crafty and handy)! The most important thing, READ THE RULES! They are important, Kitty will reiterate them when showing you around the cabin. We broke one of them, and needed help from Kitty, but she helped us out and we read the rules very thoroughly after that. Keep this place neat and clean and read the rules so that it can stay a wonderful private forest getaway for years and years! Treat it like your own, and you will have the best time ever. Highly recommended, once-in-a-lifetime experience staying with fabulous people you will not forget!

  • Great place to stay! Redwood trees, hummingbirds, and an Eco- conscious host- what's not to like? The cabin itself provided all the basic necessities- I don't think I'll go back to sleeping in a tent anymore. Nisene National park is only five minutes away - such a peaceful and luscious forest! Our dogs enjoyed the place as well- it was so much fun watching them running happily around the forest.

    Sunnie2011-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was short, but sweet! We felt very cosy and loved that Kitty invited us to see the hummingbirds on her property. We probably saw nearly 100 - amazing! The redwoods surrounding us were absolutely beautiful. Kitty was a great host, she suggested places nearby for us to visit, which we took! Thank you!

    Lindsay2012-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Kitty was a great host - very personable and informative! The cabin was adorable and had everything we needed for a relaxing get-away. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the scenery, the fresh air, and we even saw a deer family that grazed the grass along the path we took up to the cabin! We hope to go back soon!

    Amy2014-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • The mushroom dome was really nice. A very special space in the redwoods. The goat milk was delicious, and so fun to wake up in the morning at the top of the dome. The movie selection is also a fun perk. My friends and I had a great time. It is definitely a bit rustic - you can't flush toilet paper down the toilet, for example - so be prepared for that.

    Elena2014-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Not only this place is magic but Kitty made the experience to live in her place an awesome one! She opened her house and garden to pretty much everything that our 2 year old daughter was interested in (which is a lot!). From the green door of the Mushroom Door you can see and feel the impressive Redwoods. For us (especially trying the find the perfect way of having a vacation with a child and still staying an adult) it was perfect.

    Florian2014-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very nice night in the mushroom dome under the rain. Kitty provides everything you would need to feel at home, and was very kind and welcoming. This is a wonderful experience that we recommend to everyone. Getting to see the hummingbirds up close was the icing on the cake.

    Laura2014-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Kitty is such a beautiful and welcoming person! The place was just as described and expected. A great experience!

Enjoy peace, quiet, and beautiful views in Cazadero. For each rental, $50 will be donated to Raphael House, a San Francisco organization whose goal is to help at-risk families achieve stable housing and financial independence.
This little a-frame cabin would make a productive retreat for an artist, writer, or musician, or a romantic getaway. Surrounded by redwoods on a private road in Cazadero, my cabin is an hour and forty-five minutes north of San Francisco: a roughly ten-minute drive to the beautiful Sonoma Coast, and just fifteen minutes to Guerneville and wine country in the other direction. Head west and you’ll hit the charming town of Duncans Mills; go east to Monte Rio, and catch a movie at the historic Rio Theater. The full bed sleeps one or two comfortably. No TV or microwave; yes record player, wood-burning stove, equipped kitchen, and lots of cookbooks. The backyard is sunny and sloping with a view. There’s a table and bench on the deck for al fresco dining. And there’s speedy wireless Internet, too.
  • Experience of a lifetime.

    Heather2015-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This spot is the most romantic cabin in the woods you could ever hope to find. The view from the back porch is perfect. Extra bonus that there's an entire library of gorgeous cook books, and an old record player & vinyl collection. We will be back!

    Kat2015-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • The A-frame was perfect. You can see that Rachel has put a lot of love into the place and has spent time picking out pieces of furniture and finishing touches that give it an awesome rustic feel, including an extensive book collection. The wood-fire stove kept the whole place toasty and it smelled amazing. Altogether a very nice weekend escape from the city, 10/10 would do again.

    Valerie2015-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was fantastic, the record player really did it for us. We played it for most of the time we were there. Great little get away, Rachael was also very communicative and helpful. Thanks again Rachael.

    Jesse2015-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was a treat to stay in for a weekend away from the city. From the bedroom, to the back deck, to the solid record collection - this place is completely charming! Would recommend staying here to anyone looking for a dreamy cabin in a beautiful part of California.

    Katherine2015-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was wonderful. Lovely location. We found a charming farmers market in neighboring Guerneville. We cooked, had a fire and played records. Perfect for the weekend away for my husband's birthday.

    Lanette2016-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful time staying in this charming, cozy and private cabin. It is exactly how the host described. I loved all the little attention to details and personality that comes with this house. It's the perfect little getaway from the City. I'm already planning my next stay here! Thank you again.

    Tom2016-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful and relaxing place to stay! Rachel's cabin is charmingly decorated (we loved all the vintage books and games) and very conveniently located--it was nice being able to explore Guerneville, the beach, the redwoods, and even stop at Tomales Bay Oyster Company on our way up, all within 24 hours. Drinking wine and playing records and cards at night was exactly what we were hoping for on our quick getaway. And I don't believe I have ever stayed somewhere so quiet and peaceful. Definitely worth a trip!

This inspired dwelling nestled right into the breathtaking Columbia River Gorge mountainside. Reverently framed by the iconic round doorway, the wondrous views will entrance your imagination and inspire an unforgettable journey. Every nook of this little habitation will warm your sole, every cranny will charm your expedition of repose. Up the pathway, tucked into the earth, an unbelievable adventure awaits!
The majority of your neighbors will be deer, rabbits, birds & grouse. It's 2 miles up the mountain and although there are houses it gets more remote the closer you get to the hobbit hole.

  • Visiting the Hobbit Hole was as perfect as could be imagined. We crested the hill on the road where you can see the Hobbit Hole in the distance about an hour before sunset. It was magnificently picturesque! We took so many pictures! In the morning we opened the door and watched the sunrise from bed, while listening to all the birds sing us awake. The tub fit us both cozily and the bed and pillows were super comfy. We had the best time!

    Travis2016-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • For those for whom this matters, this listing is NOT HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE. In order to get to the Hobbit Hole, you have to drive three-quarters of the way up a small mountain on a narrow dirt road. I highly recommend that you drive a truck. Then once you park, there's a hike up a steep and narrow dirt path from the parking area up to the Hobbit Hole itself. You will be out in the middle of nowhere, likely with no cell signal, and there will be bugs. Also, there's nothing to cook with and no refrigerator. Bring camping food. If you can live with all of that, everything else about this listing is amazing. The Hole itself is smaller than it looks in the photos, but it's perfect for two people who just want to get away and enjoy each other's company and the spectacular view of the Columbia River. If you choose to hike a bit, you can also catch a magnificent view of Lake Chelan. The Hole has a (very tall) queen-sized bed, a full bathroom, and a cozy living room with a fireplace, table/workbench, and chess table. The water in the bathroom is not potable, but potable water is trucked in as necessary. The cleaning service also leaves a few delicious scones and cookies for you to discover upon arrival, and you're only about 30 minutes away from Chelan, WA, if you need supplies. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and highly recommend this listing, so long as you are physically fit enough to make the climb. And while you're there, be sure to write your name and your story in the journal. There are some good tales in there.

    Alan2016-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint and enchanting, the hobbit inn was everything Kristie said it would be! The view, all the small details and the service Kristie's place provided made our visit top notch.

    Brooke2016-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • The Hobbit Hole was the perfect retreat during our Lake Chelan weekend. The view was stunning and the accommodations were comfy-cozy. We especially loved finding the hidden treasure in a unexpected drawer. I'm sure we'll be back again for another adventure.

  • Very enjoyable stay at Kristie's Hobbit Hole. Remarkably cozy feel to the place: antiquated, rustic, and inviting. Hard to beat the magical feel and allure of this isolated property. Will certainly be back -- likely during the Winter to have an excuse to light a fire and go on a snow hike. Thanks to the owner/host for thinking outside the box and making something so unique!

  • This place is every bit as good as it sounds, and even better than the pictures. It was a perfect relaxing few days away. We brought a cooler and a little outdoor cookstove and had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal! I would stay again in a heartbeat.

The Off-grid itHouse brings together raw industrial aesthetics with the tactics of green design to forge a new home in the sunbaked wilds of the California high desert.
The Off-grid itHouse is an architecturally significant house, recently noted by Dwell as one of the 'Best Homes in America' and in the Los Angeles Times as one of the best houses of all time in Southern California. The Off-grid itHouse is one of 10 IT Houses built in California, which have received much acclaim such as the Western Home award sponsored by Sunset magazine. Also noted as one of the top 10 airbnb rentals worldwide. This is the prototype for the pre-engineered system known as the IT House. The house is 100% off-grid, powered by solar panels for energy and hot water, and is located in a pristine remote valley in the beautiful California high desert. The house observes key green principals of smaller footprint, minimal disturbance to the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, use of renewable resources, and living simply and minimally. The setting of the house is remote and serene, a quiet refuge from everything, free from distractions. Amazing views and vistas in all directions. Perfect for design or green aficionados, writers or those needing a secluded quiet getaway.
Located in Pioneertown, CA, nearby several unique attractions, Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy and Harriets Pioneertown Palace, local museums and art venues such as the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum, the Integratron, and other seasonal events.
  • This is a truly magical place to stay. A glass box nestled into the hillside and completely surrounded by nature, it was a totally dreamy weekend escape. Lighting a fire and watching the sunset on the desert landscape was amazing and surreal. Everything is perfectly appointed and thoughtfully designed, and it's clear that Linda has a discerning eye for details. I highly recommend the It House for anyone seeking a visually appealing and secluded desert retreat.

  • A singular experience. Worth the journey

    Kenneth2015-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Being hosted by an important American architect in her personal, award-winning residence is a rare opportunity. After our lovely two-night stay in the Pioneertown IT House, we had the pleasure of sharing a meal and spending several hours with Linda and her team in her early Craig Elwood designed LA home and office. Later on the flight home, we decided to accept the opportunity to work with Linda to create her next IT House on a hilltop in the Chihuahuan desert overlooking Marfa, TX. If you value responsibility, honesty, intellect, and beauty, then you will be enriched by your stay at the IT House (Website hidden by Airbnb)

  • best place to turn 46 - ever! it was to be a surprise for my wife and children (7 & 11). the pictures looked amazing and so were the articles, however, nothing prepares you for actually experiencing a house like this in this incredible environment. couldn't believe we were there for all of those very long, most impressive and invigorating three days. to top it off, you MUST visit GARTH, whose property you pass on your way up at 'god's way love road' - make a left and keeeep on going and you'll find magic yet again ( (Hidden by Airbnb) 'garth pioneertown') thank you, linda for allowing the public to experience one of your masterpieces. it was an inspiration to all of us. we look forward to get to experience your next home.

    Holger2013-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space and Linda is very helpful host. The breaking bad trailer parked above house is kinda creepy only because the house is so remote and the mind wanders to who is inside watching the glass house.

    jamie2014-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at this house, in this place, was like living in a dream. The beauty of the desert. The way the house feels like a living piece of it, warm with the sun and cool in the night. The stars the stars the stars. I sat on the warm concrete floor and watched the sun on the rocks and the jackrabbits for hours. Linda is a wonderful host, communicative and generous. The house was equipped perfectly. The beds and blankets are soft, the kitchen has everything you could need and she has the best books. It's magic. I'm scheming on how and when to get back.

  • Each experience in life is a one-off, each totally unique...and every so often, we get to enjoy an experience we can somewhat anticipate - as it may be familiar to us. But rarely are we offered a collaborative experience in the way that the creators of this home present. In our stay at the Off-grid itHouse, we were given the opportunity to take part in a sensibility, to live in a location so well thought out and so generously shared, that it resonates till today. I would be shocked if we do not return to that magically delivered home, nestled in the desert we so dearly love (Website hidden by Airbnb) Thanks Linda, and hope to stay with you again soon. arielito

  • This is a very special place, Linda has created a unique home that blends in with the landscape wonderfully. Arriving at a home as isolated as this could have been a very daunting experience, Linda ensured that it was not, she was incredibly attentive about everything particularly getting there safely! Inside the house is furnished simply and tastefully. We left with heavy hearts.

Charming and romantic,' Round' Cottage on the Santarella Estate in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. Formerly, the cottage was sculptor Henry Hudson Kitson's summer studio on the Santarella Estate. The two-story cottage has a charming bedroom with 35 foot high conical ceiling with canopied bed upstairs with views through massive, multi-paned "mill windows" to the trees and sky and out to the lily pond. The downstairs sitting room looks out on the babbling brook and lovely gardens.
Now open year-round! Charming, One Bedroom Cottage, former sculpting studio on the Santarella Estate in Tyringham, MA. Known as the "Silo Studio" Cottage. There is a bedroom with canopied queen bed upstairs and a sitting room with window bench-seat, coffee table, table and chairs, kitchenette area with wet bar with Micro/Fridge coffeemaker, toaster and bathroom with shower are downstairs. Fall asleep to sounds of the babbling brook and views to pond and forest from the large screened openings upstairs, like living in a "tree-house". Accommodates two only, fully furnished, all linens, towels included. There is Satellite DTV and Wireless Internet on site. The cottage is situated on four acres including lovely gardens, beautiful lily pond, running brooks and 2 acre woods. Absolutely unique, one-of-a-kind experience! Please Note, the cottage has traditionally been a three season rental from approximately March- November, however, due to much interest and demand, we have recently added a larger capacity pellet stove and made winterizing efforts and plan on keeping it open for guests interested in a winter experience in the cottage! Please keep in mind that access to our grounds may be limited with the accumulation of snow in winter months. During predicted extreme weather events, we will gladly work with guests to change reservations as we are always concerned for their comfort! Our lovely grounds are open to our guests. There are garden paths, babbling brook with stone bridges, loveliest of lily ponds, stone bench seating area with 'chiminea' and firewood for guest's use. There are two acres of woods with a loop trail as well. The town has an exceptionally beautiful Swimming Pond about 2 miles away which our guests may use. There are BBQs and picnic tables and it is often deserted. While we do have a pet friendly policy, prior approval and acceptance of our rules and policies is required before a pet may stay with you in our accommodations. There is also a $25.00 additional pet cleaning charge. The cottage is located on the Santarella Estate surrounded by gardens and storybook architecture. Santarella is located in the Tyringham Valley, tucked away 3.5 miles from Mass. I-90, a lovely and magical place where one feels like they have stepped back in time. This is definitely a place to 'get away from it all', enjoy quiet, rural surroundings close to the Appalachian Trail and Tyringham Cobble for hiking and many lovely ponds for swimming or kayaking. Vehicle is necessary. Grocery and other shopping at 3.5 miles.
Tyringham Valley was one of the original settlements in Western Massachusetts. It is mostly agricultural conserved land giving it a very rural, bucolic and idyllic character. The lovely 'Hop Brook' runs through the middle of the valley which is sparsely populated with mostly historic homes, making one feel like they have stepped back in time. An original, beautifully preserved Shaker settlement sits on top of the hillside opposite Santarella, overlooking it. At the far end of the valley, the gracious columns of the burned Ashintully mansion overlook the entire valley and are all that remain of the gilded-age estate which has beautiful preserved formal gardens, great to visit and hike. The Appalachian Trail is 2.25 miles from the cottage.
  • From the moment we arrived we were enchanted by the magic of the house and the surrounding area. It was one of the most gorgeous and serene places I have ever seen. Denise was such a sweetheart! So accommodating, informative and willing to help us with anything we needed to make our stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. The silo cottage is straight out of a fairy tale. Ever since we came back, we have been questioned on Santarella from - hopefully- many prospective visitors. Denise also gave us a tour of the neighboring Gingerbread House and oh my - was that a gem! Ideal place for a wedding! Simply stunning cottage and grounds, lovely hosts! We love the Berkshires!

    Dorota2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic - Denise and Dennis were wonderful hosts and the Silo/grounds were right out of a fairy tale. It's clear that they've put their hearts and souls into maintaining the historical treasure. We enjoyed hearing about the history of the estate and felt completely at home in the silo studio. Falling asleep with a babbling brook outside your window and waking only to the sounds of birds and nature was amazing.

    Meg2016-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first airbnb experience and it was perfect. Dennis and Denise were very prompt and informative with any questions we had. The silo was all we had hoped it would be. A quiet getaway that was very unique. There were great restaurants near by. We would definitely return for another stay.

    Hedi2017-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Silo is one of the most beautiful, warm and inviting places I have ever stayed at. It's like a chapter out of a story book. I highly recommend it to anyone that's up for an amazing adventure and I can't wait to come back.

  • This little tucked away place known as the Silo Studio at the Santarella Estates and Gardens was the most adorable, whimsical and unique place we have ever stayed. I fell in love with it the instant we arrived and just adored our Silo Studio. Truth be told, I fell in love with every board, door, handle, window, shingle, roof line and inch of the grounds and garden space.... everything my eyes fell upon. It was truly a little slice of heaven and the perfect getaway my husband and I were looking for. Denise and Dennis were amazing hosts, so wonderful, kind and accommodating. Upon our arrival we were warmly greeted by Denise. As she showed us to our silo we chatted very freely and learned the history of the Santarella Estate. A bottle of wine, a fire started with classical music playing awaited us as we entered the Silo. I was touched and impressed. These were just some of the personal touches that set the stage for our weekend. The grounds are just beautiful and even though here in early Spring, the gardens just beginning to sprout and in their infancy still show their beauty... lovely to walk around, sit, meditate, relax and just be. It is an awe-inspiring place, so peaceful and felt a bit like we were part of a storybook. While enjoying the serenity of its sanctuary like feel we loved its proximity to Great Barrington, Lenox, Stockbridge and the surrounding areas in the Bershires. We took advantage of drives exploring the countryside, hiking to the beautiful Bash Bish Falls, wonderful Farm to Table restaurants and shopping in Great Barrington and Lenox. With the Bershires your backdrop in any season coupled with the oasis that Santarella provides there is simply no way you could not relax, decompress and enjoy! We highly recommend and will return! Thank you Denise and Dennis for providing us with these awesome accommodations and wonderful weekend away!

    Laura2016-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Denise and her husband greeted us on arrival and were very welcoming. The cottage is utterly charming and very cozy! The heated mattress pad kept us warm even though we left the shutters open to hear the crickets and frogs in the pond. It was lovely to spend the weekend surrounded by such beautiful greenery.

    Erin2015-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had an incredible time at the 'Silo Studio' Cottage at Santarella. Denise was a fantastic host and provided us with a bottle of wine upon arrival. Her husband Dennis gave a fantastic tour of the property, which he worked on by hand. The photographs look surreal, but nothing is more surreal than going in person. We even went to a local bar, and when asked where we were staying, the bartender told us "I didn't even know people could stay there!" It is beyond memorable! The scenery, and the towns nearby are all beautiful. Highly recommend going to the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge and Nudel, a restaurant in Lenox. A small heads up, if you do plan on lounging around at the cottage and watch some Netflix or stream some video, be sure to have as much as you can offline downloaded. The wifi is satellite, so it can be spotty when there are clouds. Other than that, this place is such a unique gem, and my wife and I couldn't have been happier to spend time there for our honeymoon.

    Ryan2016-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • Upon arriving, the first word that came to mind was "magical" and that's exactly how our weekend's stay was. Denise was a phenomenal host - she gave us tons of recommendations, places to visit & great restaurants, and it was comforting to know she was available if we needed anything but still gave us privacy. She also provided a complimentary bottle of bubbly which was a very thoughtful & sweet little touch. The silo & surrounding property is just breathtaking and beautifully kept. I can't say enough good things. Our stay here allowed us to relax & appreciate all the beauty that this world has to offer, and most importantly, each other's company. I highly suggest staying here at least once in your life.

*This cabin was featured in the New York Times in January, 2017. * A magical homesteader cabin embedded in 5 acres of unfenced Joshua Tree desert wilderness, 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. Experience peace, quiet, wildlife and STARS—on the grid but off the pavement.
If this cabin is booked on your dates, check out our other two cabins nearby ("Homestead Camp Cabin in Joshua Tree" and "Midcentury Prefab Homesteader Cabin") *** If you would like to use our cabin as a shooting location please get in touch to discuss our rates, otherwise we do not allow commercial or professional shooting of any kind (photo, video, film) during your stay. Thank you in advance! *** The restored cabin, which has been featured in the New York Times 'T' travel magazine, Wilder Quarterly, The Weekender and the book 'Jackrabbit Homestead,' was constructed in 1955 and still has its original green paint. Joshua Tree National Park is a 15 minute drive from the cabin. The Integratron and Giant Rock are also 15 minutes away. The cabin is less than two miles from artist Noah Purifoy's famous sculpture garden site. Two miles in the other direction is Dhamma Dena, teacher Ruth Denison's Vipassana Buddhist center. The always swinging Pappy & Harriet's BBQ and music roadhouse in beautiful Pioneertown is a 30-minute drive. The Lou Harrison House, which hosts occasional devotional, folk and avant garde music events in an intimate setting is less than 10 minutes away. We will be happy to give you directions to each of these unique places (and many others) that we frequent ourselves. The cabin sits on 5 acres, and feels remote, but it's just 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. You will travel a few miles on a secure, hard dirt road to get here. Enjoy the spectacular panoramic sunset and sunrise—as well as a blanket of stars. In the wintertime, you can build a fire too. Sleep comfortably in a queen-sized bed. The renovated interior has a cookware-outfitted kitchen and dining area. There is an outhouse with a dry toilet and roofless shower a few yards from the cabin. Wireless internet is available if you require a connection to the digital world. The cabin is equipped with air conditioning. The cabin is located next to BLM land and a wildlife corridor, which means you will witness these wild animals in their native habitat. The cottontail rabbits, cactus wrens, lizards, desert tortoises, jackrabbits, coyotes, owls and roadrunners (and more!) that make the desert their home make a visit to this serene cabin all the more special. Guests may have freshly prepared organic juices made by local juice cleanse guru Angela de la Agua delivered to the cabin. A menu/pricelist is available upon request. Please note that we have a TW0-NIGHT MINIMUM stay, and a THREE-NIGHT MINIMUM FOR HOLIDAY WEEKENDS. This requirement allows us to keep our rates low, so that the greatest number of folks get a chance to experience being here in the unfenced desert, under the Milky Way. We donate 2.5% of our proceeds to the Mojave Desert Land Trust, an excellent local non-profit organization devoted to protecting the Mojave Desert ecosystem and its scenic and cultural resource values.
  • This was one the best weeks we have spent anywhere. We loved the Cabin, The Desert and it's inhabitants and we were made to feel most welcome not just by Jay and Steph who are delightful hosts who will now remain as friends but by all the local people of Joshua Tree that we met during our visit. We cannot recommend the Homesteader Cabin highly enough for anyone wanting a truly relaxing break away from a humdrum existence and the pressures of daily living. • This place was amazing. The Cabin itself was simple but very purposefully put together. Perfect for the surroundings and just all around great. Felt like staying in some form of art installation. I wish I had stayed longer.

  • Great stay, friendly and responsive host. Beautiful rustic landscape and a nice escape from our city life. Enjoyed walking around the property and the sunset view from the porch. Nice authentic 40's cabin complete with mid century furniture.

  • Very few times are photos as nice as the real product. This is a perfect example of one that is. It might even be better than the photos because the photos have a limited frame and can't capture how beautiful the environment surrounding the place is. This place is worth every penny. Jay and Stephanie were great hosts as well. They respected our privacy yet were available at any moment's notice. Jay was extremely friendly and responsive. I would highly recommend this place.

    Manuel2014-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is absolutely amazing. There's always a fear that the photos are fancier than the thing itself, but it's certainly not the case here. The silence and the land around the cabin is incredible, and the cabin is simple, light-filled and a pleasure to be in. Joshua Tree National Park is about a 30 min drive away, but you wouldn't want to be any closer... One of the best places I've ever stayed at. Thank you Jay and Stephanie!

    Jenni2014-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Homesteader Cabin is THE PLACE if you're looking for a stunning desert vista replete with distant dusky mountain ranges and a shimmering, unadulterated night sky. The cabin itself is tastefully decorated- windows on all sides bring in a lot of light and it makes for a simple, comfortable and tidy space when you're not laying in the hammock on the porch enjoying the view. All practical stuff (taps, fridge, wifi, etc) in good working order. Jay's a good host- just lives up the road, and was quick to respond to a few questions we had about local spots and to give directions when we were in a pinch. We appreciated that. If you're considering visiting this space, DO IT!

Be surrounded by nature and yet have all the comforts of home. Be our guest in this cozy log cabin surrounded by tall pines and mountains, and yet still a short drive to Lake Tahoe and the casinos.
Cozy cabin nestled in South Lake Tahoe perfect for the relaxing or adventure filled getaway. This rustic charmer has evolved over the last 10 years to bring you and your family a warm and comfortable stay. At 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, the Lake Tahoe Chalet is perfect for families of up to 8 people. We do consider the family dog on a case-by-case basis, please ask, and the backyard is fully fenced.
The Lake Tahoe Chalet is about six miles from Stateline and the Lake, or a short 10 minute drive. It's located in a quiet neighborhood with no one across the street, with views of mountains and tall trees. There's a large meadow and the Truckee River just a short walk away. The cabin is located in a quiet family neighborhood so PLEASE respect our neighbors' peace and quiet and keep the noise down after 10PM. Also, no parties or groups exceeding 8 are allowed and may even result in immediate eviction and/or loss of deposit.
  • El lugar es bonito. Faltan detalles de limpieza, pero en general bien.

    Ivan2018-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Chalet lived up to its expectations. Ryan has done a great job with the decore, and you feel like you're in some cabin in the woods, but with all the modern amenities you could ask for. The rooms and beds are spacious and comfortable, and the bathrooms well-stocked with towels and hot water. It even comes with a (Hidden by Airbnb) Chromecast hookup with the TV. The only downside was that the bbq grill outside was out of propane, and we ended up having to do our grilling indoors. Thankfully, the stove is pretty new, and there are plenty of pots/pans, dinnerware, and silverware in the kitchen to make it a pleasant cooking experience.

  • We could not have asked for better hosts than Ryan and Darnie! They were great! They immediately responded to and answered all our questions before, during, and after our stay at their home. Their home is super clean, welcoming, cozy, and beautifully remodeled. It has all the rustic ambiance you'd expect in a Tahoe cabin with all the amenities of home. It was perfect for our family. My kids loved the bunk beds! The neighborhood was lovely, quiet, and within close driving distance of Lake Tahoe and other attractions. We will definitely recommend R&D's place to our friends travelling to the area and we hope to come back ourselves as soon as possible!

  • We stayed in the pool house for 6 days and it was absolutely amazing! Dennis and Alex were excellent hosts and went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. They were extremely flexible and we had a very good and easy communication with them throughout. The pool house is exactly as described and with all the amenities needed. The view is awesome and we really enjoyed the pool. It was the best Airbnb experience we have ever had and we would definitely stay there again.

  • This was a wonderful experience! Alex was there to greet us and show us the ropes. If we had a need the response was immediate and yet we never felt smothered. The accommodations were beautiful as was the pool and views. Very nicely located and yet a sense of privacy. We will definitely turn to DnA whenever we need accommodations in LA!

  • Fantastic place. Amazing hospitality. Will book again!

    Abdirizak2018-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Host was good, responded quickly and was happy to give us late checkout. The pool house was good for the price. Location and surrounds were average. One of Host's dogs was very unfriendly (and we are dog people). Host also requests that toilet paper is not flushed and is rather put in a bin.

    Loren2016-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Dennis and Alex were attentive and gracious hosts. The pool house is very clean, comfortable, quiet and private. The wine, chocolates and drinks are a nice touch. We enjoyed eating in our private backyard and sunbathing by the pool. There is a beautiful view of the San Gabriel Mountains and Griffith Park. Downtown LA is about a 30 minute drive during the week, half that on the weekend. We are vegan and were able to find plenty of local restaurants. Forewarning: the driveway is very steep and there are stairs to get from parking to the Pool House. We highly recommend staying here. It is a bargain.

Peter has carefully cultivated and nurtured the land, which includes building the Pondhouse with Hemlock trees from our woods. • We have just returned from our stay at Gayle's Country Escape Pondhouse. The chirping birds, sparkling fireflies, and rustling grasses, daisies, and ferns, with the pond at our toes, was all we hoped for and more. The feel of soft cool air as we slept, relaxed, and woke, is still fresh in our minds. If you are lucky enough to wake in the middle of the night you will see stars as they are meant to be seen. Isolated yet convenient, this spot offers complete privacy with Gayle within easy helpful distance should you need her.

  • Had a fantastic experience at the Pondhouse. Gayle was lovely and gave us a quick tour before leaving us to enjoy the Pondhouse which really is magical. It rained our whole first day but we still had a great time. We would definitely com back again.

    Megan2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Unfortunately we weren't able to properly thank Gayle and Peter when we left, but we had a great time! The weather was a bit unfortunate but we still had lots of fun. And of course, Charlie was adorable and a great addition to the experience. Thank you Gayle and Peter!

    Alexandra2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time and our dogs absolutely loved it! It was exactly how it is described and shown in the pictures. It was a beautiful property and a very relaxing vacation. My only advice is to pack for the weather accordingly, that was my mistake for not checking the weather. It was very windy and cold and I unfortunately packed for very hot July weather.

    Patricia2016-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful setting and cabin. Amazing craftsmanship and very tranquil and comfortable. A great mix of relaxing and comfortable accommodations & amenities combined with the pleasures of camping and outdoor experience. Excellent hosts.

  • What a wonderful retreat! My only regret is I wished we had planned a longer stay!! The Pondhouse is close enough to others to feel nice and safe but private enough to make you feel like you're out in the middle of the woods (which you basically are!). The short walk to the studio to use the bathroom was totally worth it. The bathroom was super cute with all the essentials available to use (including a hot shower with great water pressure!!). Gayle and Peter were great hosts! Very friendly and great conversation. Allowing us the comfort to make sure we had everything we needed but the privacy expected when retreating for the weekend. The Pondhouse itself was just a magical treat! Gorgeous views coupled with the freshest air and a cozy bed with lots of down comforters! I hope to visit again soon!!

    Kristina2017-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic getaway spot with great hosts and beautiful views! This place is very secluded which has both pros and cons, so plan ahead. If you're looking to get away from the busyness of life, this is the place for you. I just hope you're not afraid of sleeping outside.

    Kirk2017-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • You couldn't ask for more congenial and attentive hosts. The pond house is an imaginative blend of luxury and rustic simplicity. Thanks to all of the wildflowers growing around the pond, our visit was especially beautiful. The reality is every bit as good as the pictures suggest. I hope to return.

Welcome aboard Pirate's Life, 1 of 5 rentals in our fleet! Most questions can be answered in our FAQ found below. To view all available boat rentals click on my profile & scroll to the bottom below reviews to see all boats. Featured on Tiny House Hunters, but far from tiny. Pirate's Life was gutted & rebuilt using reclaimed materials, sweat, & love. You'll find her spacious, tranquil, & comfortable. Enjoy morning coffee & evening cocktails on the deck overlooking Downtown Charleston’s harbor.
Featured on FYI Network's Tiny House Hunters! Very spacious houseboat with vaulted 12' ceiling in the main cabin (living room). Sleeps 3 comfortably. Lots of room to move around with a queen size bed in the Captain's Quarters (Bedroom) and a twin bed in the living room that's a day bed. FAQ: Q: Location? A: Mid-Peninsula Downtown Charleston which is roughly 1.5 - 2 miles to the heart of the historic district. A five minute / $6 Uber away or take the bikes! The boats are located downtown in a private marina where our 5-6 boats are slipped & only shared with a large mega-yacht that rents the outside slippage 6 months out of the year. We rent this slippage from Seabreeze Dry Stack Marina (49 Immigration Street, 29403). This accommodation is for people looking for peace and tranquility as the setting of the marina is quiet and secluded. You'll have a stunning view of Charleston Harbor and the Ravenel Bridge. Q: How can I see all of your boats for rent? A: Click on our Airbnb profile (the round photo) & scroll all the way to the bottom below the aggregated reviews (on Mobile) or look to the left (on Desktop). You’ll see all of our listings - or check them out by clicking the link below: Listing Page: https://www.airbnb.com/users/1918595/listings Q: 1 Night Reservations? A: You can instant book a 1 night rental if it’s the same day as your reservation OR if you see on our calendar that your date fills a 1 night gap. We kindly ask do not instant book for 1 night reservations if your desired date doesn’t fit that criteria - especially on the weekend. We handle 1 night reservations on a case-by-case basis depending on availability but can almost always make it work. We will respond to an inquiry within minutes most times, most of the time immediately. Q: Is it comfortable? A: VERY! Our boats are designed with live-aboard / stay-aboard in mind with all the creature comforts of home. Fully stocked kitchens, premium furnishings, updated HVAC, TV, Keurig coffee makers… etc. Q: Any restaurants close by? A: TONS! Some of Charleston’s best are within a mile of the marina. Q: How to book: A: If you don’t have any questions after reading over the FAQ below then simple instant book. If you send an inquiry we’ll respond promptly, if not immediately. Q: Why is the price so different for my dates? A: Airbnb automatically sets our prices based on demand & seasonality. If you don’t search with exact dates Airbnb shows the lowest price throughout the season. Prices range from $99 per night for weekday day-of bookings in January all the way to $499 per night for weekends during peak season summer and everywhere in-between. Q: Bathroom… explain! A: The boat is equipped with an apartment sized (12 gallon) water heater ensuring you get hot water throughout the boat. You'll always have enough hot water to enjoy a 10 - 15 minute shower. The boat has a full sized marine toilet that is easy to use as long as you follow our simple instructions. Q: Heat? Air Conditioning? A: Our boats are equipped with BOTH ample Heat & Air Conditioning. No matter the time of year you can be assured that you will be staying in a climate controlled & comfortable environment. Q: Can we take the boats out & drive them? A: No. We don’t carry any insurance for bareboat charters but we do offer captained Charters on specific boats which are really fun! Charters include sightseeing in Downtown harbor, sunset cruises, full hay & ½ day cruises, special moments like engagements, or anything else you can think of. All charter requests are handled via inquiry & paid through Airbnb as part of your stay. Q: Can I check-in earlier than 4 or Checkout later than 10? A: We will do our best. Most days there’s someone checking in the same day there’s a checkout but we try & go above and beyond if this is requested. Q: Can we fish from the dock or boats? A: Absolutely! We ask that you fish either from the side or front of the vessel & stay clear of the props so your line doesn’t get prop/shaft wrapped. Fishing from the dock is also allowed as long as you mind the props of the vessels. You can easily get a fishing license from the DNR online. We operate on the honor system & don’t check for licenses but ask that you support the local DNR & pay the small fee to make it legal. We don’t supply fishing equipment & keep in mind there are no tackle shops in Downtown Charleston. Shrimp from the local Q: What to expect that's different than a hotel? A: It's a boat, it is a unique FUN experience. There may be noises and smells that you'd expect from a boat. Pumps, motors, ocean water, etc. Every boat is broken the day it hits the water, especially salt water. We take great care of our fleet but we expect guests to tell us if anything isn’t working properly & we will PROMPTLY respond & repair. Q: Waves? A: The marina has a sea wall which dilutes any waves. We are also lucky enough to be tucked behind Drum Island at the base of the Ravenel Bridge. which dilutes almost all the waves from the harbor. There is still a small amount of wave action and you'll feel a slight rock from time-to-time, mostly from boats passing by who don’t respect the no wake zone (feel free to yell at them & shake your first while doing so). If there's a bad storm or the wave action gets to a point that your stay is no longer enjoyable, we will do our best (no guarantees) to work out alternative accommodations for you as we have multiple condos Downtown for landlubbers. Your comfort is our top priority. 99% of the time the marina is almost totally flat and calm. We also keep dramamine on the dock incase anyone experiences sea sickness. Q: Will you reduce your price? A: No(ISH)... Maybe, but unlikely. Don’t expect a price reduction unless it’s the slow season & you’re messaging about days within 1-4 days of check-in or you’re looking for a long-term stay in the off season (see next “Q”). If you message us with a booking that somewhat fits the criteria above & tell us a budget we can try & work with you on one of our 6 boats. “Will you reduce the price of a weekend booking a month away” will always be a “no”. Q: Do you do long-term or monthly rentals? A: We have done long term rentals in the past. From March 1 - October 30 the boats are rented at a 90% occupancy rate so the monthly rate is only slightly reduced compared to the daily rate (around 20%). From November through February we’re much more flexible depending on length of stay & which vessel you’re interested in. It helps us to know your budget and we can tell you if we have anything that could work. Q: Smoking? A: On the outside only & please be responsible. Kindly don’t light the boat on fire. Q: Do you allow pets? A: You bet! We ask that dogs not be puppies, don’t scratch at doors, and don’t bark incessantly while you’re away. The boats are close together & a non-stop barking dog isn’t appreciated. We DEEP clean the boats after pets stay aboard due to future guests’ possible allergies so a $75 pet fee is applied for those who travel with pets. If you have a service dog & try to circumvent the pet fee be prepared to present FULL documentation. Q: Can we hold events or parties? A: No. This is a place to relax. We ask that there be no events or parties on the boats so the other guests can enjoy their stay. Q: You charge extra for more than 2 adults, do my kids count? A: Any child over the age of 13 is considered an adult & needs to be represented in the booking inquiry as an additional guest. Q: Is the marina safe? A: VERY. We have 24/7 surveillance & in the 3 years we’ve been here we’ve never had any sort of issue. We share an entrance with the port authority which has a 24/7 guarded gate. You turn into the marina before the guarded gate but it scares off any would-be pests. The parking lot & dock is well lit & the marina is right off East Bay which is one of the main roads in Downtown Charleston. All boats lock from inside & you can padlock the door when you leave if you wish to lock up your belongings. The marina is only us & we’re here daily looking over the fleet. Q: Handicap accessible? A: No. You'll need to get on the boat which requires a 1-2' step and there are steps on the boat. The deck stairs are steep and you'll need to be sure footed. Q: Parking? A: Yes, you can park your car. Since it’s a small private marina the walk to the parking lot from the boat is only roughly 50-70 yards. Q: Can I trailer my small boat & side-tie it to the boat I rented? A: You can bring your boat but it must be arranged with the marina & there’s nowhere to park a trailer. There’s also nowhere close by to slip the boat so do your research on boat landings. The marina will charge you small fee (roughly $40 - $60 nightly) to wet-slip the boat. Q: Space & Comfort? A: You'll find the layout of the boat extremely spacious and comfortable. The bed is a Queen (ish) size. Queen with slight modifications to fit the space. The shower is tall and comfortable for anyone 6’4” & under. Q: I have a non-profit, will you donate a free stay to my gala? A: I’m sure your cause is worthy, but we get this request far too often so we must decline. Q: I’m a blogger / photographer / ninja trainer… will you barter? A: No. Please don’t ask. We don’t pay our slip rent with your blog posts. Q: Will you partner with my local company or buy my advertising? A: We get penalized through Airbnb if we don’t respond to all inquiries which means we must respond to your spam. You won’t like our message so don’t send it. Q: Will this be the best vacation I’ve ever had and should I book now? A: Without a doubt.
Extremely safe and private marina in downtown Charleston. The entrance to the marina is shared with the Port Authority which has a 24/7 guard. There is a train which blocks the road to the marina leading into the port authority but it only comes 1-2X per day. Sometimes it can block the roadway for up to 20 minutes but that is infrequent.
  • We loved our experience on the houseboat! It was such a fun and unique way to experience Charleston. It's just as adorable as the photos and so much thought was put into every detail and decoration. The only issues were: We blew a fuse and couldn't find the extra set of sheets, but both problems were remedied as soon as we contacted the owners, who were kind and responsive. I would recommend staying here to anyone looking for an adventure and hope to be back someday soon!

    Kelsey2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a perfect stay at the house boat. It looks just like the pictures. It is easy to get to the city by taxi, car or even walk. It was a bit cold the first two nights, but there were heaters all over. The only thing we couldn't find was the wifi code, wich we got after asking. But the Wifi did not work at all.

  • This home was absolutely perfect for my boyfriend and I! The houseboat is very clean and uniquely decorated! The marina is located in a great spot in relation to downtown Charleston. We got to meet Justin and he is absolutely wonderful! He gave us great local tips on where to get drinks after our dinner. They have gone above and beyond our expectations and we highly recommend this adorable houseboat!

    Rachel2017-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Interesting choice that a friend and I made. You must have a sense of humor and a lot of patience. We wanted an adventure and this house boat provided one, but was disappointing for us. All facilities onboard were not "ready for guests", light bulbs out, shower stall pooling and toilet seat wobbling, but were readily fixed by Justin who was very nice and very accommodating. FYI: The "lock" on the inside is a wooden rod that sits in the track of the sliding glass door. Curtains are sheer and don't cover the length of the windows, (except in the bedroom), so it lacks privacy at night if your hanging around in comfy clothes or sleeping on the daybed. The OUTSIDE LOCK is a padlock at the bottom of the door at floor level. Difficult to operate, especially in the dark, on your knees, while trying to use a flashlight. Wonderful mornings and afternoons became nothing but aggravation because of the lock situation. It's a fine location with a great view. It's quiet and cozy but not for everyone.

  • We stayed on A Pirates Life for Me for 3 nights for a little trip to Charleston and loved it. If you are looking for a unique place to stay, that still offers most anything that a hotel does, then I would suggest this boat. It was only a 5-10 minute uber drive from most anywhere you would want to go in downtown Charleston.

We also want to advise guests that this is a working orchard and vegetable garden. People uncomfortable with domestic animals (dogs, chickens, rooster) or scared by the sounds of wild animals (coyotes, owls, song birds) may prefer an urban location. Also, those who are very light sleepers should consider using earplugs if the possibilty of sounds of coyotes, owls, rooster or dogs keep them awake. While we strive to avoid working around the Yurt during early morning or late afternoon when guests like to relax, we will be tending the gardens, etc. during the day which many guests find fascinating. Whether you wish to retreat to Nature or explore the surroundings, you have a wide choice of activities. Our canyons and beaches boast world-class mountain biking, hiking, horse-riding, wine-tasting, surfing and sunbathing. There are hiking trails right out the yurt door which access Nicholas Canyon Park and lake as well as Leo Carillo State Park. We can help you arrange horseback lessons and trail rides locally, as well as rental of surfboards, wet suits, and mountain bikes. Yoga, dance, Pilates, acupuncture, massage, and gym usage can also be arranged. While secluded, we are easily accessible by major roads. A 3 minute drive down the canyon takes you to Pacific Coast Highway’s most pristine beaches in southern California. It’s just a few more miles to beautiful Malibu town and pier with all lots of shopping, dining and recreational opportunities. • Pasamos una noche 4 personas (no muy grandes) y apenas teníamos espacio. La casa es para 5 pero no sé cómo podrían hospedarse en ella tanta gente. La ducha no tiene presión. El emplazamiento está muy bien.

  • My partner and I had a wonderful time at BIBi's this past weekend!!! the yurt was full of natural light and surround it was her beautiful garden. Bibi gave us great suggestions on what to do in the area! The only neighbors we had was the chicken coop next-door and they didn't bother at all. It was very peaceful and on our last day we were fortunate enough to watch the flowers bloom in front of us which was very nice.

  • Brilliant yurt, lovely host and great time!

    Adam2014-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Bibi was a fantastic hostess. We arrived late in the evening for a one night stay and she was super flexible in accommodating a self check in. All instructions were incredibly thorough and accurate, and she got back to every inquiry within less than an hour. The yurt was really special - nestled into the top of the canyon and on an organic farm where roosters wgere you're likely to be woken up in the morning by roosters crowing. At night, you can see the moon directly from the lofted bed through the top of the yurt. The decor was California rustic and everything was incredibly clean, which beyond overall experience is the most important part for us when evaluating places to stay. Overall, highly recommend- there are slim to no options between exorbitantpy expensive and grungy in a place like Malibu and we felt like we lucked out with this relaxed, close to nature, stay. Only wish is that we had more time there and that we were able to meet Bibi.

    Sam2015-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. Bibi was a fantastic host and the yurt was absolutely perfect! Loved being on the farm setting. Nice nature sounds, including some cute chicken clucking during the day but nothing disturbing in the least. Bibi offered fresh-squeezed lemonade and wine when we arrived and had great suggestions on things for us to do while we were around. It was chilly and rainy while we were there, but the small heater in the yurt kept us plenty warm. I can't wait to return for another visit!

    Amanda2013-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to stay. The yurt was super cute and comfy. We hiked to the top of the property for the most amazing view! Neptune's Net for dinner was fun. We would love to come back in the summer.

  • This was an amazing place to stay in Malibu. I would definitely stay again and will recommend it to all my friends and family.

    Alejandro2016-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • The property was exactly as described, very clean and with excellent TV and wifi. Probably best suited to adults rather than families though, given the size and nature of the property and its location.

  • The place is good, beside the bay, with a park. Karen is very nice and friendly, even though I broke her light.....the cat perry is nice to the guests. Everything is fine.

    Han2015-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is glamping at it's finest. The cottage is breathtaking, but it is all open air. Anyone squeamish about insects and spiders might want to think twice. I personally loved feeling like I was living outdoors. The location is wonderfully far from the tourism section of Kona, and you are strolling distance to a beautiful beach with decent snorkeling. Karen was a wonderful host.

    Allison2013-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is truly a dream come true. Still can't believe we were lucky enough to stay in such a gorgeous place, amazing beach location and beautiful area. Purry, the friendly cat, made it even nicer! Wish we could have stayed longer and would again. Karen and Ron are fantastic friendly hosts - 11/10!!

    Ruth2016-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place is magical and accurately represented by the pictures. We hope to return on every visit to the Big Island.

    Suzanne2013-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is well reviewed, so I'll try not to add much more fluff other than reiterate that this place is in fact a gem. Some thoughts: 1) It's basically a museum. Every square inch of the place is interesting. I was so baffled that I had to ask Karen how they even did it. One of the Thai doorways alone cost $1600, she said. 2) I've been blessed to stay in a few places like this that I would say without a doubt should be considered part of Airbnb's elite, "best of" lists. According to Karen it was featured in a top 10 list for couples (worldwide). Makes sense. Places like this are the reason Airbnb is awesome. Staying here is an opportunity that you would never have found otherwise. 3) The outdoor shower is amazing. Best showers I've ever taken (day or night). That all said, this isn't a great place for light sleepers. The bed mattress is a bit hard and uneven, not sure what material but not foam. Also there's a *lot* of creaking at night, I assume due to the winds picking up. During the day there wasn't a peep. Also, spiders. Lots of spiders.

    Benjamin2013-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Kealakekua Bay Bali Cottage lived up to all my expectations. I decided to travel solo for the first time and my week at the Bali cottage was just what i was looking for. Karen was a helpful and gracious host. Everything I needed was there. She checked in and offered other great places to visit as well as the book of resources left in the cottage. The neighborhood was perfect. Off the beaten track, quiet and steps away from the perfect beach to sit at and read and relax. I was visited by mongoose in the afternoon (they kept their distance but made their appearance) and the occasional tiny lizard at breakfast. Added to the charm (along with the neighboring donkey in the morning) I loved the netting surrounding my bed in the evening and read and slept well. I would return, I am already recommending to friends and hope to stay in touch with Karen. She was the best.

    Marie2014-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Bali cottage is truly a gem of AirBnB! The location itself was even more exotic and beautiful then we imagined ( so much, that we didn't even leave to explore captain cook as planned!). Nestled perfectly off the road and just a few blocks from swimming at the bay, the cottage provides a secure feeling of seclusion, but with all the necessary amenities and the host next door, nothing was out of reach. Ron was a gracious host and he made us feel welcome to what is clearly a one-of-a-kind abode.

    Gina2015-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Bali Cottage was beyond amazing! Thank you so much Ron and Karen!

Romantic hideaway! This property has the lush beauty and privacy of Hana, without the drive! Only 15-20 minutes to the airport, 10 minutes to beaches, 2 minutes to restaurants and shops...on a private gated property with organic nursery. BEAUTIFUL!
This place is a gem! SO CUTE! A recently remodeled 1930's cottage....that Jimi Hendrix stayed in when he was on Maui in 1970 to film Rainbow Bridge. Beautiful, quiet...REAL Maui! Recently remodeled, very cute! It is lined with cedar on the inside so it smells delightful when you walk in.... The Gingerbread House is a studio cottage with a kitchenette (toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker, counter-top burners, full sized fridge) and spacious bathroom with a large custom-built, tiled shower.. It has high cathedral ceilings with a huge window that looks out on beautiful lush greenery. It is on a gated property. There is wireless Internet in the cottage, but in the event it isn't working, there is wireless available to you in other locations on the property. We have gotten the internet FIXED since the reviews were written so it is WORKING IN THE GINGERBREAD HOUSE AGAIN! (as of 1/16/17) It has a queen sized bed, and an outdoor patio under the spectacular tree canopy. The property is on 4.5 acres of lush beauty with a seasonal stream, an organic veggie start farm, fruit trees galore (help yourself when in season....) papaya, banana, lilikoi (passion fruit), coffee, plantains, oranges, mac nuts, avocado, lychee, mango, guava, grapefruit, tangerines, lemons, coconuts, noni....and you also have access to an additional 4 acres on the adjacent property—which is home of The Sacred Garden—beautiful!. WE HAVE NOT INCLUDED the 14.41% Hawaii Transient Accommodations Tax because you would have to pay the airbnb fee on that so to save you their fee WE WILL SEND YOU A SEPARATE INVOICE as a resolution request through Airbnb for the additional fee. (They do not add extra fees to the resolution requests.) PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS STATE LAW THAT WE ADD THE TAX...Sorry! We have a 3 night minimum however we will book for 1-2 nights if the nights are available between other bookings so feel free to check with us. We have a 5 night minimum during Holiday periods like Christmas. We are in an awesome location just 20 minutes from the airport and Costco, and only 2 miles to Makawao town restaurants and shops, 7 minutes to Paia, 5 minutes to Haiku town. 50 Minutes to Haleakala National Park entrance. We also have a house on the property that is a vacation rental as well so if you need more space for a larger gathering let me know! I offer retreat services—relationship coaching, personal and spiritual growth, guided labyrinth walks and work with Maui's best practitioners so if you want more than a vacation, let me know! We can help you with everything from Massage, to intuitive readings! I also perform weddings so if you are thinking of getting married while you are on Maui....I can also help you with that! This rental is on the property adjacent to The Sacred Garden which has two walking labyrinths, water lily ponds, meditation gardens, and more ...and is free and open to the public daily. We have caterers available in needed. The elevation is about 1000 feet which is PERFECT on Maui! We are about 10 degrees cooler than sea level which makes for absolutely comfortable days (70-80 degrees) and GREAT temps for sleeping (usually in the 60's). This is the MAXIMUM elevation you can stay and still go scuba diving on Maui. Speaking of diving...we are avid divers and can assist you booking Scuba Diving with the best dive operation on Maui. You will definitely want a rental car....there is a bus stop a mile or two away but not ideal....and bikes are a little hazardous as these are hilly, windy, narrow roads. We have a HUGE friendly dog on the property... he is great...but be forewarned he is BIG! (180 pounds)...not a barker, super sweet. We also have 4 cats on the property but no animals are inside the cottage. There are wild chickens and roosters and cows on the property across the stream. Please keep in mind that this is a jungle environment and it is nearly impossible to keep all insects out of any accommodation in Hawaii unless we poison the place. If you are phobic of insects, the jungle will not be your best bet. Gecko lizards are also common inside the houses here.
This area is a magical well kept secret on Maui. We are located at the dividing line between the wet side and the dry side, which means we get enough rain to stay green, and enough sun to stay sane! We get rainbows almost daily and are the perfect temperature (60's at night, 70's-80's in the day).
  • Eve came to our door right after we got there to welcome us and tell us where everything was. She was always available by text when I had questions and would answer back right away. The cabin and area were beautiful, and it was a great area to stay in Maui. We loved it and would come back again!

    Dana2015-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Place was as decribed. Eve´s hospitalty was excellent. Pretty much oriented to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Interested in all possible hickup´s. The house was equiped with some amenities you would rather expect in a hotel. If you are into nature and looking for a central place on Maui, this is a recomandation.

    Ralf2015-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience - spacious, clean, well-stocked, beautifully decorated! Also good central location

    Jennifer2016-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a perfect little getaway. Husband and I have been to Hawaii many times and wanted something different, away from the wall of condo buildings by the beaches. Makawao is a charming Upcountry town and the cottage at the Sacred Garden, a short drive away from town, was comfortable and quiet. It is very well appointed with cooking implements that allowed us to make breakfast every morning and dinner many nights. Large bathroom and good storage for our gear. The cottage is perfect for two people and perhaps a young child but any more would feel crowded. The Hogans recently added wifi capabilities so you can check your email and post updates to make your (Hidden by Airbnb) friends envious of your visit. There is no television but a monitor with a DVD player for movies. Beautifully dark at night, we had spectacular star gazing every evening. We had not realized that there was a washing machine and dryer available to us -- a great surprise. Eve welcomed us when we arrived in the evening and gave an overview of the grounds, what fruits were in season and ready to pick (tangarines and avos!) and offered any support we may need. Otherwise, we never saw her or Steve. There is a working nursery on the property and so a little bit of car traffic right by the cottage around 9 AM and 5 PM. By little bit, I am talking about three cars. On Maui, you need to drive everywhere. The closest beach is in Paia, about 20 minutes away. Being in Upcountry, you are on your way up to Haleakala, a short drive from Kahului where you can get whatever provisions you need and we learned shortcuts to Kihei and the East Maui beaches. The cottage (and the spirit of Jimi) was a memorable stay on Maui. If you are looking for the road less travelled plus want approving nods from the locals when asked about where you are staying, check out the gingerbread cottage.

    Colleen2015-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so cool! Fruit trees, sacred spaces, a river that runs behind the property and plenty of privacy. Eve was super sweet and helpful with any of our needs, questions and concerns. My partner and I stayed in the ginger bread house for 3 nights. It was perfect for us because we had already spent 10 days on the island and just wanted time to relax. The wifi wasn't the best but we didn't mind at all. It forced us to go outside and actually relax without the distraction of technology. She provides a DVD tv and DVDs for entertainment if needed. My partner and I caught Eves full moon labyrinth session last night and it was really inspiring to hear her talk and to walk the labyrinth. The sacred garden is truly a special place. I highly recommend it. I wish we could have stayed longer. It's in a great location close to everything but far away enough you don't get stuck in traffic. We can not wait to return!

    Kendra2017-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, this place was awesome. We stayed in the gingerbread house for our honeymoon and loved it. If you're looking to stay off the beaten path on Maui, this is your place. Away from the touristy crowds of West Maui, the house is secluded and among beautiful greenery in the upcountry. It's close the the tiny town of Makawao, a hidden gem, with cute shops and restaurants. Eve was so accommodating and the house was equipped with everything we needed. There are numerous chickens roaming the property, so be aware that there may be some early morning wakeup calls!

    Kristin2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very warm welcome by Eve's assistant Tanda who showed us the Gingerbread house and the surroundings. The house is located on a very large porperty with a variety of green plants around far away from any 500 bedroom hotel - just nature around! This leads also to a pleasant climate (no AC necessary:) The north shore of Maui is very close if you want to go surfing (Paia is only 10 minutes away) and Kahului with the airport is only 20 minutes away. A special thanks goes to Eve and Tanda for fulfilling an individual request in advance:) We had a great time and would definitely come back:)

    Mike2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at the carriage house was such a great experience! Mick is an extremely talented artist and welcoming host. The thing that I loved about Denver most was the passion that everyone poured into what they love. Whether it be art, starting a brewery, mountain biking, hiking or restoring old homes. Mick is passionate about what he does and that shows in his work. Thank you for sharing your home with us! We can't wait to be back and stay in the carriage house again...that is if it's not reserved months in advanced! This place will be a tricky one to get into once people start talking about it!

    Natalie2015-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Mick's cottage. The decor was modern and rustic. The chocolate and beer were kind gestures. Highly recommend.

  • House was perfect. Every small detail was thought out. Mick and Patrick were over the top in their hospitality. Mick was a great host.

    Rodrigo2016-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • Mick's place was great! On a beautiful one way street with easy street parking, the place is in the backyard of his house through beautiful plants and flowers. The space was perfect for three people, on the smaller side, but open and comfortable. We also enjoyed sitting out on his patio and would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Denver!!

    Erica2017-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, comfortable, and quiet. We enjoyed our stay at the Carriage House.

    Shannon2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • The carriage house was just perfect - the space is beautiful and thoughtfully designed, kitchen has everything you need, the location is super convenient, and the hot tub was a fantastic end to our trip. I would definitely recommend Mick's space and hospitality to anyone.

    Kelly2017-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • I loved this place! It was cute and so detailed in the design. Also, Mick offers great hospitality with drinks and snacks waiting for you upon arrival. Overall, I had a great stay here. Beautiful in person.

This a rural desert location. The Tile House is a magical place. A vortex in the desert of love and space. This is the place to retreat and unwind, find yourself, breathe and explore. Not available or appropriate for parties or large gatherings. A spot to meditate, cook, and watch the sky, the clouds and stars at night. A healing, colorful environment for rejuvenating your spirit and soul.
A two bedroom house with outdoor hot tub and gorgeous views, and gated courtyard with firepit. Queen-sized beds, picture windows, cotton linens, and towels. Fabulous and reliable WiFi. iPod dock with speakers. Full Kitchen, refrigerator, coffee maker, mixing bowls, wood-burning stove, swamp cooler. Laundry facility on site. Fireplace and pellet stove. Dog-door for your pet to access a fenced and secure yard. Great for large get togethers or a romantic getaway. Sleeps 4 comfortably but also has a sofa sleeper for a kid. Cradled inside and outside by a mosaic made of Mexican tile, smalti, handmade Perry Hoffman ceramics, tile and fused glass, found desert tiles, found objects, stained glass and ceramic bric-brac, THERE you find yourself situated in complete silence, watching the desert light crawl across the fast and intricate landscape which is ALL around you. 7 miles from the town of 29 Palms and the east entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. 360 degree views amid the peace and quiet, beauty and wonder, where indoor and outdoor osmosis expands your exposure to the desert. Touches of luxury, whimsy, and function make the visitor feel safe but also adventurous. Perry has been working on his roadside attraction / museum / gallery / magic spot / mosaic house since it began in 2000. 11 years later, 800 sqft were added, and approximately 2500 sqft of mosaic applied and grouted. Glass fused baubles, hand made ceramics and a magical desert. This desert homestead turned beacon of love vision is waiting to reach the stars. The Tile House sits in the middle of the vast and open desert. You need not walk two feet to be a part of the wilderness, now it is up to you to look around both macro and micro and see what you can see here. Jack rabbits, cottontails, ravens, scorpions, desert iguana, snakes, Gambel's quail, lesser night hawks, owls, coyotes, roadrunners, sphinx moths, and kangaroo rats, flash floods, dust devils, lightning storms, sunsets, summer rains, empty roads, wildflowers, and cacti are some of the things you might happen to see. Walk gently in nature. At night, absorb the clear starry skids, and August and November meteor showers. Remember, there are rusty bits and broken tiles in the sand. This is a work in progress. Be careful and don't walk about barefoot. You have been warned. Not recommended for children, unless prior arrangements and agreements are made. You are ironically completely alone in the middle of nowhere and the center of the universe.
  • Our experience at the Tile House was absolutely fantastic. The house is truly a piece of art, and the surrounding desert is outstandingly beautiful. It's really hard to describe the house with few lines, due to the incredible amount of things to discover. Everything is exactly as Perry described it on the website (probably better!), we had no problems in finding it, the house was clean and ready for us. The house is also in the perfect location to explore Joshua Tree National park. It was a true pleasure, we would love to stay again.

    Emma2015-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I stayed at the Tile House for a birthday weekend and had a great time. The house is full of the hosts beautiful tile artwork and a total feast for the creative mind. The kitchen is clean and has all the basics, the accommodations are very comfortable, and the views are breathtaking. We went on hikes in the near-by Joshua Tree National Park during the day and spent evenings in the hot tub and around the fire pit in the patio. I have stayed here once before and I will definitely come back again!

    Teresa2016-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing. I rented the house to celebrate my 30th birthday with a few of my girlfriends and we couldn't have asked for a better place to spend the weekend. If you're looking for a magical and wonderfully eclectic place to stay in the desert, this is definitely it.

    Amanda2014-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Perry's Tile House in Wonder Valley. Perry responded very quickly to our messages and provided a special environment out amidst the creosotes.

  • Amazing house full of eccentricity. Good energy throughout, and there are millions of things to look at and discover if you just walk around the house. Perfect house for a little getaway from city life.

  • We loved our stay at the yurt! It was beautifully decorated and true to the pictures, and had everything we needed for cooking. The gas fireplace was a great touch, as the weather finally turned cold while we were there. Whitt was a very thoughtful and responsive host. He sent information about activities in the area ahead of time, which was much appreciated and helped us plan our trip. We enjoyed meeting him when we arrived, and he was quick to respond to any questions we sent. He was also kind enough to give us a tour of the farm and let us meet the animals! We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

    Caitlin2016-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • More amazing than we could have imagined--arrived late at night to sky in which we could see the stars, a warm fire, and a delicious plate of fruits, veggies, cheeses, crackers, hummus. We hoped the guitar in the photos would be there--it was...along with a ton of other instruments to play. A cozy bed, a hundred candles, a lovely bath, a cockadoodledoo to greet us in the morning, followed by a delicious breakfast cooked by our host, Whitt (and such an abundance of breakfast that we'd eat it for every meal!). Delightful animal noises we'd try to identify, kitchen enough to cook and throw a dinner party, everything we possibly could have needed to feel really, really at home, comfortable, and happy. We can't wait to return!

My activities at the Yurt consisted of eating, napping, swimming, napping, hiking, napping and...ummm...napping :) You have no choice but to relax, enjoy nature, and leave your stress behind. You will not meet a nicer family than the Ledfords. Such wonderful hospitality that will make you feel so welcomed. The food was amazing - you must have a dinner cooked by Whitt - just ask in advance. Definitely coming back - loved it!

    Sarah2011-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Whitt is the ultimate host! We were his very first Airbnb guests earlier this year. The place is truly magical and we can't wait to go back again!

  • Another great stay @ the Yurt! This time it was a 3 night stay in November and once again the accommodations, food, and ambiance were first rate. It's nice to visit at different times of the year, because you can experience the pool and hot tub in the Summer and the beautiful leaves and cozy fireplace in the Fall. We'll be back next Summer!

    Binh2012-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Yurt was fantastic and Whitt and Martha are incredibly nice and helpful, and very talented with food. For breakfast we had huevos rancheros and quiche, and the dinner farm-to-table basket included pork chops, herb mixes, savories, sunchokes, brussel sprouts, salad ingredients, and tons of kale. It also include fresh-baked sourdough and herb butter that we simply could not stop eating. The kitchen in the Yurt is well-stocked, and includes coffee, decaf and sugar, and Whitt brings up milk in the morning. All in all an absolutely amazing spot, we cannot wait to go back!

    Jonathan2014-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the yurt was blissful, and we want to go back. My bride and I stayed here five nights for our honeymoon, and we chose wisely. Highlights included: a fun tour of the farm, featuring friendly goats and noisy geese; fantastic breakfasts brought to our door each morning; day trips to nearby spots (historical, scenic, etc) which were introduced to us in brochures stored in the yurt; visits from Whitt's charming dogs; evenings in the hot tub under a starry sky; and a comfortable, well-supplied nest to return to each night. Although comfortable, the yurt and its territory also felt peacefully remote, which was welcome. Thanks again to Whitt and his family for being excellent hosts!

Staying in Surry is ideal for visiting Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The short drive through Surry and Ellsworth is picturesque approaching the mountains. We plan on staying with Alan again soon!

With a hot tub, fire pit, outdoor shower, basic kitchen, queen bed, wifi, TV, small library of western movies, and 10 beautiful creekside acres, this trailer is a hit no matter what the season or the weather. Our retro Airstream has been featured in many Texas travel lists and magazine articles (Southern Living, Apt Therapy, Dallas Morning News, The Sun (UK), Outside Magazine and more). Come stay a spell...
Do you ever daydream about jumping in a travel trailer and heading west? Are you enamored with the vintage style of a bygone era? Do you enjoy camping, but secretly wish you had a real bed, wifi and a bathroom? If so, the Dixie Daisy is for you! This cute Airstream trailer has been completely renovated with a retro twist. It’s the perfect place to escape for a relaxing weekend surrounded by nature, yet equipped with the conveniences of home. Grill up a yummy dinner with your honey and dine al fresco on the large deck, take a morning stroll along the creek, turn on the string lights for some mood lighting, take a dip in the hot tub, enjoy your morning shower under the trees in the private, spacious outdoor shower (room for two!), and end your day relaxing by the fire with an ice cold beer. This is the life! The Dixie Daisy provides all the comforts of home in one cute, cozy package. The antique iron bedframe holds a queen mattress, the bathroom has a small interior shower and a real toilet, the kitchen is fully equipped with dishes and utensils, and alongside the deck is a charcoal grill and fire bowl for your night-time fire. The owners really go out of their way to add those special touches to make your trip complete, such as leaving fresh eggs in the fridge (as long as the chickens keep up) and local organic coffee. They also strive to make this property as green as possible by using environmentally friendly dish soap and laundry detergent, providing recycled paper products and full recycling, using low-wattage light bulbs, and more. This cozy retreat is nestled in an elm grove along the banks of Smith Creek on 10 beautiful acres shared with the owners. You’ll really feel like you’ve escaped to nature, yet the fabulous shopping and dining of downtown Wimberley are only 3 miles down the road. It’s the best of both worlds! So, what are you waiting for? The Dixie Daisy is the unique getaway you’ve been dreaming of. We are confident that it will exceed your expectations! Pet policy: Pets are allowed for a fee of $50 per pet, and we ask that you leave cash or check for the pet fee with the keys upon checkout. Pets must be declared to the owners in advance, preferably at the time of booking. We ask that if dogs are left unattended that they be crated and that they remain on leash when wandering the property if they might be inclined to chase a child, cat, or chicken or wander off. Thanks for understanding! Single night bookings: We have a two night minimum, but when there is a single night gap in the schedule we are happy to accept a single night booking for an additional $25. Just shoot us a message with your date and we'll go from there.
Wimberley is a lovely little town full of unique shops, swimming holes, and friendly folks. We think you'll love your visit here!
  • Loved our stay at the Dixie Daisy! Having a tough time deciding what my favorite part was; the outdoor shower? The hammock? Their carefully curated cassette tape collection? The worst part of our stay was when we had to leave... I haven't felt this well rested and mentally restored in a loooong time. Thanks, Jennifer and Gregory!

    Allyson2013-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Fun place to stay. The fire pit, hot tub, hammock, and out door shower were all enjoyed.

    Kelly2017-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great and unique experience! The Airstream itself is something you don't get to stay in every day. Very cool and it is kept super clean. Gregory and Jennifer made us feel very welcome - offering help with anything we needed and even leaving fresh coffee grounds, as well as eggs from their own chickens for us! The location is perfectly located right outside town, and close to a number of wineries, local swimming holes and the Blanco River. Make sure you explore the creek behind the Dixie Daisy, and find the treehouse! Will definitely try to stay there again!

    George2015-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful property in the Texas Hill Country. Great privacy in the Dixie Daisy even though it is nestled amongst 2 other pro. Overall, we had a great experience even with the torrential downpour for the first 36 hours. The hot tub was an amazing perk, as was the outdoor shower. Our small dog, Tina, Loved exploring the property (on leash, of course). We enjoyed being so close to Blue Hole, Wimberley and Jacob's Well. We even made a quick trip to driftwood for Salt Lick BBQ.

    Joel2013-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time! This is the perfect place for a romantic getaway. Our favorites were the outdoor shower, the hot tub, and roasting marshmallows in the chiminea. We also enjoyed playing Scrabble provided in the game collection. There is plenty of privacy and the entire process was super easy. The hosts are responsive, the trailer/entire area was very clean, and the bed was comfortable. Thanks!

    Brita2013-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Dixie Daisy was nothing short of perfect! Jennifer and Gregory have put such thought into the details of this cute little place. My wife and I celebrated a relaxing couple of days out here for our 3rd anniversary and couldn't have asked for a better place to get away to. The airstream was extremely clean, the hot tub was very relaxing, and the tree house just put the whole thing over the top!

    Stuart2013-10-27T00:00:00Z

The eruption at Kilauea continues. We are at the summit of the mountain. There is no lava here. USGS is housed locally and keeps us informed. Air quality is better than in the last ten years. It is not possible to predict what will happen in the future. It is safe here and the Kahuku unit of the park is open. This is a real treehouse. This is an exciting, awe inspiring time to visit. Truly a once in a lifetime event here. True adventure. #weaccept
This is a custom designed treehouse, built by the same crew you see in Treehouse Masters on TV. The Jurassic attitude of the rainforest is preserved on the grounds. We also have a wedding venue nearby you may view in the photos. Our volcanoes are in a spectacular phase just now. To see the effects of the eruption, you drive into Pahoa and down Highway 130, currently reopened. All roads open to the public are fully maintained. There is no known danger of being cut off between Kona and Volcano. There are many routes to take. *** Summer 2108 notes: The park is currently closed. This is expected to be temporary. It is due to what the park calls an abundance of caution during this cycle of the eruption. There is ocean entry of lava. The only ways to view the lava with your own eyes just now are by helicopter tour and lava boat. Land viewing is restricted to residents of the affected areas. Local effects of the eruption have included increased seismic activity. Our air quality has improved, not worsened, as the plume is gone from the summit. Mahinui Na Lani hangs in ohia trees growing over a lava tube in the rainforest that extends into Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The treehouse was conceived as a companion to our rainforest pavilion, a Bali style structure a couple of blocks away, intended as an intimate wedding venue. Both may be reserved, and there are a couple of photos of the pavilion included in this series. The treehouse is accessed via a path that is about 100 meandering feet in the forest, lava boulders set into the side of the lava tube, and ladders. The ascent is somewhat steep once you reach the lava rocks. For your safety and comfort, we provide day packs to transfer whatever clothing is needed for your stay from your luggage into the abode. There is a special recessed corner dedicated to your stuff, with hooks for clothes, and a couple of night stands with drawers that can hold less bulky items. It's Hawaii, and the climate is mild, the atmosphere everywhere very casual. We also provide bathrobes. The treehouse itself is built on two levels, connected via a ship's ladder. The main level includes the living room, with two chairs and an ottoman, flat screen for viewing films & playing CDs, built in indoor window table & stools, small kitchen, outdoor shower, and composting toilet & vanity. The indoor fireplace is a Jotul propane stove vented to the outside. Outdoors on the lanai there is a cedar hot tub, and a teak table and chairs for al fresco dining in the trees. The upper level is also upper canopy, with birds actually flying around beneath you sometimes. There is a queen sized bed with a memory foam mattress, the tiny "closet corner" and another lanai. The windows other than the french doors onto the lanai are stained glass, made by a local artist. The kitchen functions best as a place to store leftovers after you go out to eat, with the microwave available to reheat them. There are plates and utensils so you can bring in take out and enjoy your meal either indoors or outdoors in solitude. The house was built primarily of recycled materials. The fir floors and redwood and cedar siding were once a church. This particular area is adjacent to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where Kilauea has been active for decades. There are hiking trails in and around the park through rainforest, desert, volcanic devastation, even a path with footprints preserved from an eruption over a hundred years ago. There are petroglyphs. Less than a mile from the treehouse there is Volcano Village, with restaurants and art galleries, a couple of places to buy gas. The entrance park itself is about two miles away. The neighborhood is rainforest, with many unbuilt upon lots. The reason there is no view of the treehouse through the forest is because the rainforest is very dense. There is the floor, very jungly with ginger, native ferns, and trees. Mid canopy are the tree ferns, some twenty feet tall, and over a hundred years old. The upper canopy is a mixture of ohia trees with red lehua flowers, Hawaiian holly, and others. We are asked from time to time if more than two people can stay in the treehouse. We can especially understand that families would like to bring their children to share this experience. The treehouse is a two person space. Everything is designed to be a honeymoon experience. While it is possible for more than two people to sit together and chat, only two can sleep over. There is no rollaway bed, nor is there room for one or for any other furniture beyond what is there already. Hall of Fame: The treehouse has been featured in Extreme Cribs, on episode 13. The Ellen Show: Kim Douglas's Tropical Vacation Ke Ola Magazine Volcano Tree House story in July - August 2011 edition Trip Advisor: One of the Ten Most Romantic Places to Stay (global selections) PureWow feature Treehouses of the World, Travel Channel European segment, by Treehouse Masters series Buzzfeed blogs and news articles published globally You will have access to the entire property, including the small structure below the treehouse near where you park your car. You may safely lock your luggage inside that room and use the day packs inside during your stay. If you use a CPAP machine, please contact us prior to making a reservation. There is only one treehouse on the property. We live nearby and come by regularly to maintain the treehouse. It is likely we will meet you on arrival. Otherwise, we are available by cell phone, text, email. When we are away, someone else who lives locally will be available to greet you and take care of your needs. The treehouse requires daily attention because it is off grid. This is generally done between 11 am and 4 pm, and most guests are away for that portion of the day. We do ask that if you are staying all day at the treehouse, that you communicate with us to let us know when one of us can come up and take care of the place. The neighborhood is mostly old growth rainforest with a few houses here and there. When you drive up, you will notice there are neighbors across the street and next door. You will forget about them once you walk through the moongate and enter the world of the treehouse. Sometimes of a late afternoon and evening you may hear a local hula halau practicing. We hope you find the sounds of laughter and Hawaiian language and music adds to the ambience. A rental car is a necessity. While there is public transportation, it is a long slow trip up the mountain. Uber and Lyft are available here, but the distances are such that renting a car tends to be more efficient. The park is a couple of miles down the road, and so large you will want to drive and not attempt to walk. Volcano Village is about a mile up the road. You might like to stroll up and back. If walking into the village for dinner, a flashlight for your return is an absolute must. We provide - please take it with you! If you are planning a first trip to our island, we suggest that you stay 2 or 3 nights at the treehouse. Please contact us for for discussion before you reserve if you wish. The island is truly big, and most people would rather spend the night on the west side of the island rather than return to Volcano after a day of play over there. Although we show rates for long term stays, we would like to discuss plans with you before completion of a stay of 5 days or longer. When you decide you want to stay at the treehouse, you are coming to a place unlike any other. There are other treehouses, but each is unique. This treehouse is off grid. This means it requires hands on service, every day. For most people, this is a seamless thing that happens while they are off adventuring. Every once in awhile, people come and do not want to leave, at all. We understand, but we do want to let you know that we must enter the treehouse on a daily basis to service the composting toilet. The hot tub also requires attention. The treehouse is in the forest. It is inside the trees, and this means easy critter access. To keep them outside, we carry your rubbish away and make sure your food is stored adequately. It is not a good idea to leave unwashed dishes, pots and pans, for these same reasons. This is the tropics. There are insects. They are not as prolific here as at lower elevations, but they do exist, and will visit you especially at dusk with lights on. Spiders are residents of the forest. They are food for the birds. If you love the birds, please tolerate their food supply. We empty the house of spiders daily but we do not poison. The spiders come back at will. They are small, and stay in the corners. They leave evidence of their visit in the form of webs. We do our best to be inhospitable to them, but they persist. When there is weather, like hard rains and winds, from your perch in the trees you will experience the sound and feel in ways you may have not before. The house is tight - the weather does not enter if the doors and windows are closed. But the sounds can be formidable. You will feel close to nature. Because of the size of the treehouse and the fact that it is off grid, it is not possible to offer a regular kitchen. The storage space is inadequate for more than a couple of days worth of food supplies.
The neighborhood is part undeveloped rainforest and part lots with houses. There are no tract homes - every house is individually designed and built. There are no street lights so at night it is very dark. The forest tends to obscure moonlight. There is a hula halau that practices nearby some afternoons, and you can hear their Hawaiian music and chants late in the day.
  • We absolutely fell in love with this place from the moment we saw it in pictures. When we got to the tree house in real life it was even more breathtaking! My wife and I didn't want to go anywhere, all we wanted to do was stay there the whole time! Gail was very nice and welcoming. She gives you a tour of the place the day you get there and there was even fresh local fruit waiting for us! We're already planning on coming back to the big island just so we can stay here again!

    Matthew2015-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • This treehouse was by far the most magical place I've ever stayed!! I wish we could have stayed longer. The space was impeccably spotless, the bed was heavenly, and we were serenaded by the beautiful sounds of nature. The host, Gail, was so pleasant and sweet with helpful recommendations of nearby spots and attractions. We feel blessed to have had a chance to have had a chance to experience this oasis, and it was the highlight of our trip to the Big Island!

    Jessica2016-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Every detail was perfect - the treehouse is absolutely amazing. We will be sharing this adventure with others for a long time. Thank you to Gail, Jim, and Rose for such lovely and well-kept accommodations!

  • What can you really say about a Treehouse in the rainforest a couple mile away from an active volcano...how about amazing!? The Kilauea Volcano Treehouse is no to be missed! Its only a short drive from Hilo and has a market close by in the town of Volcano to purchase essentials. The Treehouse is uniquely well designed and has all the amenities of a 5 star hotel. There was various fruit, banana bread and eggs waiting for us when we arrived plus a perfectly warm hot-tub for two....very nice. Our Host, Mahinui, was gracious and informative and gave us great tips on the island. If you are planning a visit to the volcano and want a unique experience I would highly recommend the Treehouse. You won't be disappointed.

    Matthew2015-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the tree house for four days in December 2015. It was wonderful. The pictures are representative but cannot communicate how special this location actually is. The host was immediately responsive to all communications. She met us at the house on arrival and came by while we were out to tidy up and refill the coffee and fruit we consumed, etc. Highly recommended. If/when we go back to the Big Island, we will try to stay here again.

    Peter2015-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic place to stay. I had high expectations from the pictures and other reviews, but nothing can prepare you for how amazing this place is. We stayed here for 2 nights after we got engaged and I couldn't have picked a more romantic, special and beautiful place to stay. We arrived late in the evening and Mahinui was incredibly helpful in providing directions and generally accommodating even though we were running late. A few lights guide you through a 20m path before you find the treehouse sitting in the most fantastic forest above you. More than just a short stay treehouse you could live in this accommodation permanently. Suberb architectural attention to detail throughout, a stunning sunrise from the bedroom and through the trees. A must stay when travelling to the Big Island.

    James2016-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • This treehouse is truly a one of a kind experience! The ambiance of the house is so romantic and cozy. If you get a chance to stay here, you have to do it! The hot tub is the best way to unwind after a long day exploring the island. Gail and Robert are the ultimate hosts. I absolutely loved the papaya breakfast with homemade granola, I crave it now that I am gone. We couldn't have asked for more!

One bedroom sanctuary with a beautiful garden view and cozy fireplace. Comes with it's own entrance just steps from bus lines, train and all that Haight Street has to offer. Complete privacy with a separate bedroom, bathroom, and breakfast bar.
If you want to be within walking distance to Golden Gate Park, Haight St, Buena Vista Park, and Cole Valley, this is the spot. Full size bed in the bedroom with 400 thread count sheets and a pull-out twin in the living room. Just installed fireplace and large screen tv makes hanging out fun in the comfortable living room. Bathroom has a shower within the tub and white fluffy towels.
You will hear from many that this is the best neighborhood in SF. I chose this area for the many Victorian homes, the ease of mass transit, the walkability, and the abundance of parks, restaurants, and nightlife nearby. As a recent transplant to this area I can tell you that the stores, coffee shops, restaurants, and pubs are great here. I forget I have a car most of the time! Street parking is easy except for Wednesday 8-10 due to street cleaning.

  • Such a great place to stay. Sara was very welcoming and went out if her way to make our stay comfortable. The location was superb and Bo the dog was the icing on the cake. So much easier to park then we feared too.

  • Sara is really nice. We feel truely welcomed when we checked in. Her house is fantastic and sweet. Sara prepared juice and milk for us. the yard in front the house is amazing. The only thing bot so perfect here is parking space is not easy to find and the spaces are crowded and tiny.

    Zhuo2015-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice garden level apartment in the Haight Ashbury district. Comfortable bed. As is clear from the description there is no kitchen so it is not really possible to self cater. Sara was very easy to communicate with and very welcoming.

  • Beautiful, cozy, clean little spot. We definitely would stay here again. Sara is a great host and she even created a binder with helpful tips which I thought was impressive! Its little touches that made this stay so great. Communication was also great, and even allowed us to accommodate a 3rd guest last minute. Thank you Sara, we will be back!

We love the tranquility of our very beautiful mountain and the spectular ocean views
  • Great view! interior gets 4 out of 5. With the global warming, this place definitely needs AC . Other than a couple of sleepless nights due to heat and humidity it was a good experience. Thank you!

  • This was our second time staying at Ling and David's beautiful home. The views from the apartment are stunning, and accurately depicted in the photos; however, you have to be there to fully experience the beauty of this magical home. While we were there, the air was continually filled with heavenly fragrances from the tangerine, orange, and lemon trees. The apartment was clean and well appointed with all the necessities to cook and feel at home. The bed and furnishes were comfortable. The apartment is usually hot during the day, so we made sure to open the windows in the morning as well as the front door to allow the gentle breeze from the Pacific and the canyon, along with the fragrance from the beautiful gardens fill the apartment. The apartment is located close to the beaches, hiking trails, and restaurants. It is a lovely place to escape from the Midwest Winters. Ling and David were perfect hosts! Any questions or concerns we had were answered immediately. They also have a very helpful guide of things to do in Malibu. As before, it was hard to leave this beautiful home. We are looking forward to returning again.

  • We had a marvelous stay at Ling and David house.... Wonderful interior, breathtaking views.... Easy to find. If you are looking for peaceful place to stay you are looking at right place! Highly recommended!!!!

  • It was very nice to stay in this mountain house with a great view of ocean. My husband enjoyed seeing different kind of birds and wild animals. I went hiking every morning. There was a lots fun. We had wonderful time there. Thanks for Ling and David open their house for us.

    Jill2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Spectacular setting in a beautiful, secluded, very quiet area. Sunrise and sunset are wonderful. Close to great hikes in Tuna Canyon. Because of full sun exposure and no air conditioning, with daytime temps in the 70s it was hot inside the first 2 days and and evenings making it hard for us to sleep together. Fans helped somewhat and it cooled off by mornings. The sitting room futon sofa is full size, not queen size, and is not very comfortable for sleeping. Overall, a good value, especially in cooler weather.

  • There's no doubt this place has some pretty awesome views and the experience in general is unique. However, it's not what the photos suggest. The house is old and everything in it dated, worn-out or broken. When on a special vacation like a babymoon (my pregnancy was communicated to host previously), it's the small things that count. Some bread, fruits, and yoghurt would have made a huge difference to us, especially since it's in the middle of a canyon and no one delivers anything there. At least wish if we didn't have to worry about making a trip to Target to buy a pitcher for clean drinking water. Yes, he reimbursed us for it but I don't think he sees the inconvenience. We really felt like the host treats this purely as a money-making machine and couldn't care less about making guests feel welcome. A huge stain in one of the pillows, a broken chair, a horribly stained, old couch...the pictures posted must be from years ago! Unfortunately, I would not recommend the house to anyone because it's not worth the daily rates in any way. You'll find better places in Malibu.

  • This place is awesome!

    Michael2018-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • incredible view! staying here is worth that alone. if you're on a budget, stay downstairs...if you can spend for the top place (the retreat) it's worth it. if you're sensitive to footstep sound/a light sleeper or working while staying at the hideaway it's not ideal but still a beautiful spot on earth.

  • My wife and I stayed in Christie's place for two weeks earlier this month. The apartment is very spacious: four rooms with a Steinway grand piano and a private outdoor terrace. The kitchen is well-equipped and it's a great apartment for a longer stay -- you can't beat the price. Clean, great location, sunny in the back, comfortable furniture, and a friendly host. Recommended.

  • We had a pleasant stay, the appartment was nicely decorated and clean. Christie was there to welcome us and show us the appartment. It's situated in a central and convenient neighborhood very close to the nice and lively Filmore Street where there are lots of good restaurants and cafés.

  • We loved our stay in this gorgeous Victorian flat. Christie has attended to many details that made our stay so enjoyable and comfortable. The location is great and I doubt you can find a better place to stay while in SF. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

  • Christie is the perfect host and has such a wonderful place created where we could stay for almost one week. My husband and I felt very comfortable, the apartment was just perfect. We have really very much enjoyed the time in San Francisco and I can highly recommend Christies place. Christie, thank you so much for hosting us, you made our stay really outstanding. Always again. felicitas&oliver from Germany, Berlin.

The Urban Farmhouse circa 1886 - meticulously converted in 2013. Situated adjacent to community garden. The updates afford you all the modern convenience you could ask for and charm you can only get from a building built in 1886. A true Charmer.
Privately tucked next door to a community garden in Denver's oldest neighborhood. 1/2 block to light-rail and near to B-Cycle (public bikes). Walking distance to local craft breweries and restaurants on Welton and Larimer. Street parking. 2 Bedrooms/2 Bathrooms perfectly sleeps two couples (additional charge for additional guests). We have a pack-n-play and baby gates available upon request. It is my home, but i will lock my personal items away and with the exception of a small portion of the closet the whole place is yours during your stay.
Denver's oldest neighborhood, Curtis Park nestled between gritty RINO with craft breweries, restaurants and Welton Street - all in walking distance (minimum 3 blocks away). About one mile to Denver's 16th Street Mall. One block from Curtis Park with public outdoor pool open Jun-Aug
  • This spot is fantastic! The hosts had excellent communication, cleaned and stocked the place super well, and was nearby to lots of fun things. We'll come again!

  • Patrick's urban farmhouse was a wonderful place! Patrick was very responsive with the check-in and have great communication. The pictures do not do this place justice. It's a beautiful well decorated place with wonderful amenities. We both felt at home from the moment we walked in. This trip was super special as I proposed to my now fiancée! Patrick mentioned we were the second couple to stay at the farmhouse that got engaged in October!

    Joe2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, so comfy and definitely worth it. A place you can return!

    Savannah2017-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • This listing is absolutely fabulous! The accommodations are as described/represented in photos; plus Patrick provided extra touches to make the Urban Farmhouse experience special. Fresh flowers, snacks and beverages to greet incoming travelers, fresh linens throughout the house, water bottles - wonderful touches to make a guest feel welcome and at home! Comfortable and quaint outdoor area to enjoy as well! Fully stocked kitchen that was a pleasure to cook in. The house guide book is very informative, and provides local recommendations for various establishments. Communication was very timely and friendly and questions answered with the intent to ensure we were comfortable. Would definitely recommend and would love to visit again!

    Mary2016-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • We will absolutely try to stay at Patrick’s place on our next trip to Denver. It is beautiful, comfortable, and far larger than we expected. We were able to cook breakfast each morning due to the well equipped kitchen and the location is within walking distance to numerous breweries.

  • Great place to stay in Denver while I was visiting for the weekend! The décor was lovely and the different treats in the kitchen were a super nice and unexpected touch. Location is convenient to many great restaurants and bars in the area. Parking wasn't a problem over the weekend which was nice. I really enjoyed my stay here and hope to visit again soon.

Comfy, cozy and romantic cottage less than 3 miles from Downtown. The Cleveland Cottage provides a private oasis within city limits that includes full kitchen, Wifi, parking, electric fireplace & entrance through a private courtyard with fire pit.

The space is littered with family heirlooms and pieces of antique art that tell the story of our fair city. In the morning, the sun spills through the east facing wall, lighting up the cathedral ceilings and garland cladded chandelier. In the corner of the cottage is a reading nook where you can forget about your worries and dive into any of the novels housed in the library shelves. Wave your hand in front of the electric fireplace to ignite flames that create an authentic ambience or build a real fire in the fire pit outside. Take a long bath in the stock-tank-converted tub or grab the remote for the smart TV and sign into your Netflix/Hulu/HBO Go accounts. You can also cast something from your own computer with our Chromecast. If your adventurous spirit leads you beyond the walls of the The Cleveland Cottage, hop in a Lyft/Uber and take the 5 minute ride to the famous 5 points in East Nashville or downtown to the Honky Tonks. If you get tired, no worries, we've got a personal Keurig, in our full/fully stocked kitchen, to keep you going for days.
We live in the Historic Cleveland Park neighborhood of East Nashville adjacent to the original thoroughfare, Dickerson Rd. It is a transitional neighborhood and part of the gentrification process undergoing most surrounding, downtown neighborhoods here in Nashville. From big ol' craftsman houses to tiny, baby, paint-peeling bungalows- we have never found a more ethnically-diverse, artistic, tight-knit group of neighbors and are positive you will not only fall in love with Nashville, but also with our world-within-a-world... Cleveland friggin' Park.
  • We had a wonderful trip and loved this space. Me and my 3 friends visited Nashville for my Bachelorette party weekend and we had a blast. The space looks like it came straight off of Pinterest and is decorated beautifully. I will say the shower does get cold fairly quickly and the space is a little smaller than what he had imagined but other than those little details everything else was wonderful!! The beds were some of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept on. Beta greeted us when we got there and informed us of everything with the space and was very friendly. I would suggest this space to anyone traveling to Nashville especially couples, it would be perfect for that.

    Georgia2016-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is very comfortable, and more private than I thought it would be. The bed is super dreamy! There's even room upstairs for the kids, so maybe we'll bring them along next time! Nah!

    Tom2015-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is as cute as the pictures show you!! We loved our 4 days in Nashville and felt like all our needs were addressed between the guest book and texts from Beta! The decorating is wonderful and inviting --- everything is available for your comfort along with many extras!! It was so much more fun staying here rather than in a standard hotel room - would love to return again and spend more time in Nashville!!!

    Lynn And Jim2015-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for a great experience! The cottage is super stylin' and just a short Uber drive away from downtown. East Nashville is definitely the way to go if you want a more laid back experience. The recommendation of the Barista Parlor for coffee was amazing. Beta was super accommodating. We would definitely stay again!

    Jane2015-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Cute cottage with great decor and close to downtown.

    Lena2016-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location. Two miles from Broadway. 5-7$ Uber ride. Pictures were very accurate. We had a great time in this tiny cottage. Although it sleeps 4, the loft beds were tiny so maybe for two kids. 4 people in one tiny bathroom would be a challenge also. But for a couple it is perfect. The bed and bedding was of the most comfortable I’ve experienced. Many great charming touches throughout this cottage. We would come back for sure!!

    Tracy2018-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Dreamy Cleveland cottage was just that. Beautifully decorated, with all necessary amenities and close to Downtown. Beta and Emily were gracious and respectful of our privacy. We'll certainly come back and recommend to our friends. So sweet! Penelope and Michael

    Penelope2016-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • The Cleveland cottage is seriously the most perfect Airbnb. When I think of what makes me comfortable in a place away from home this is it! Beta and Emily were great at communicating and answered every question I had even before I knew I had the question! They have created something that looks like it came out of a magazine and btw if I could find a similar tub I would totally create a shower like that for myself because it was great. We will most definitely be back here because we fell in love with Nashville but even more we fell in love with this cottage. Seriously you want to stay here!

A cozy & clean renovated cottage in South Inglewood with private entrance. One bedroom, one bathroom cottage w/ a nice patio and backyard. Plenty of street parking. We'd love to help make your Nashville trip perfect!
Our cottage, which was renovated last year, is spacious (384 sq ft) with plenty of privacy. Included is a big patio and large backyard. Inside the cottage you'll find a full size bed, couch, dining table with chairs, shower/bathtub, and washer & dryer. Soap, shampoo, detergent, hair dryer, noise machine and filtered water are all provided.
Located in South Inglewood, we are very close to all the great East Nashville spots and only 4 miles to downtown. Our street is an upcoming residential area that is improving everyday. We are walking distance from a great YMCA and our neighborhood Mexican restaurant called Las Maracas. There's no shortage of good food, bars, shops and nightlife just minutes away. Most importantly, in the four years we've lived here, we've always felt safe.
  • Julian was great carring our bags in and bringing us anything we needed promptly. The place was just as cute as the pictures and very private. The description on the site was accurate and the neighborhood felt safe for our parked cars. I recommend this quaint little cottage!

    Cindy2015-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Three of us had a wonderful time in this adorable Airbnb! We enjoyed dancing to the records on the record player and the bed is super comfy. Made for a fabulous girls' weekend stay!

    Jessica2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Julian was very welcoming and respected our privacy at the same time. The cottage was just as described and shown in the pictures. Very clean, spacious, and we loved the record player. Would definitely recommend staying here.

    Hailey2015-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Julian's place was great! Everything was easy and accessible and the little touches he puts into the place are always appreciated (snacks, water, coffee, soaps and toiletries). His recommendations were great and we loved watching the chickens in the backyard. Couldn't have asked for a better place while in Nashville.

    Ben2015-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Pulled up and lights lit the way to the guest house and Johnny Cash music was playing. The space is gorgeous and welcoming. The recommendations by Julian are spot on. I was traveling from North Carolina to South Dakota and this place was a perfect spot to recharge before setting off again.

    Sarah2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Julian was very helpful and the room was exactly as described. Definitely close to the train tracks but once I fell asleep I never noticed the noise. Quick uber ride to everywhere we wanted to check out, and the ideal amount of privacy.

    Jean-Ann2017-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Julian's cottage is a very comfortable little space in a good location. My friend and I took an Uber to downtown and back while we were there and it didn't take long at all. The bed is very comfortable, and the trains that run nearby didn't bother me at all! Julian is very helpful, he left a little booklet with suggestions of where to eat on the table, and checked in with me every once in a while to see how I was doing and if I needed anything. All around a great experience!

    Erica2016-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Julian's Cozy and Cute Cottage is just as described! The entire place was clean and decorated with simple, yet, excellent taste. My girlfriend and I both had enjoyed Julian's place for the short one night stay. My favorite part was the record player set out for our use - Johnny Cash and ELO definitely were my choice plays. Julian and her husband were excellent hosts. Julian was moments away with a response with the few questions I had. Overall, I will most definitely be looking to return to East Nashville to stay here once again. Highly recommended for future travelers.

Location, location, location! Large, classy, timeless, comfortable, entire top floor with private entrance in our private house out of a 1890's novel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn one block from the East River. So easy to get to Manhattan by subway, ferry, cab or even foot, and all the best places in the "Burg" Wifi/cableTV/air/heat. (We stay in our separate floor below you never compromising your privacy!)
Perfect location on the Northside Williamsburg, Brooklyn Waterfront scene, my place is a wood beamed classic, with hard wood floors and restored original brick wall. It is the top floor of a 1894 restored house on a very nice semi residential street block. The nicely outfitted place, "the country in the sky" as I refer to it, has a beautiful totally functional "Peerless" antique prewar stove for cooking, generous amounts of pots, a wood burning fire place and a full size refrigerator in the kitchen. The feelings are cozy, warm, cabin like yet elegant. The kitchen and living room are in the same open area. There is a dining room table that seats 4, a beautiful brand new couch that folds down to become a very comfortable queen size bed that sleeps 2. Beyond the living area is the large master bedroom with a queen size bed that sleeps 2 with a large antique dresser and 2 riverside windows. Off the master bedroom is a large tiled classic bathroom with an antique skylight and large tub with shower, and a small bedroom with a twin size bed and riverside window that is nice as a separate rest area, a great place for a child to sleep, or an out of sight room to put your luggage and things. My location is beyond great and safe. 10 minutes maximum in a cab or car service over the Williamsburg Bridge and you are in Manhattan. It is a short walk (3 min) to the North 6th Street East River Ferry ( the scenic quick river route to Midtown Manhattan or lower Manhattan, please check schedules). Subways: L train ( gray line): First stop in Brooklyn, only one stop to Manhattan and a neat 10 minute walk from my place going by shops, restaurants and street vendors to the very frequent Northside L train subway stop at Bedford Ave and North 7 St, (Everything you want to pick up to take back to my place is on Bedford Ave or Kent Avenue which are the walking routes to the subway. (Among the small shops, restaurants and bars, there is now a "Whole Foods" supermarket and a Iphone store on Bedford!) The JM subway that goes over the Williamsburg Bridge with wonderful views of the river and NYC skyline to lower Manhattan (Chinatown etc), is a little further (13 min walk ) through the South Side. After a night out in the neighborhood, you will find this quiet, comfortable, timeless place to come home to that is the top floor of a restored Williamsburg house. All East River parks are a short walk away with their spectacular river and skyline views. During the warm months the weekend flea/food markets down Kent Avenue/North 8 on weekends are fun and back dropped by the river and Manhattan skyline. Grand Street River Park is only a block and a half away. I love going there in the mornings with a cup of tea and taking in the NYC view. The quaint restaurants and music clubs are amazing and abundant, the "Williamsburg Foodtown" Market has all the groceries you need and frankly the only reason I would leave the "Burg" would be to go to a museum, St. Patrick's, Grand Central's Oyster Bar or ice skating at Rockerfeller Center. Indoor Flea Market on North 7th right off Kent Ave, "Mast Brothers Chocolate" on North 3rd off Berry, "Beer Garden" restaurant lunch, dinner, brunch with live music on Friday nights on North 3rd and Berry, "Sea" restaurant (Thai) on North 6, "Sweet Water" (Bistro) restaurant on North 6, "Dumont Burger" for awesome burgers on Bedford between South 2-3, "Aurora" (Northern Italian) with great brunches, lunches and dinners is right around the corner as is "Coxley's" sport bar with 40 beers on tap and great chicken wings on Grand St. "Teddy's" rest and bar (American Bistro) on North 8, a landmark that serves brunch, lunch and dinner and also has music sometimes at night, and the "Knitting Factory" music performance space and bar is 6 blocks away on Metropolitan. The best NY steak house, "Peter Luger's" reservations only, is in the vicinity. The floor is divided in 4 areas: upon entering you are in the kitchen and living, dining room with a wall and door that separates this space from the large bedroom in the front, the large tiled bathroom and the smaller front bedroom. The living area can easily convert to a sleeping area for 2. The place is adorable and sleeps four comfortably. Much quieter than most places in the area. Heat, air conditioning, wifi, fine linens/towels and kitchen utensils are provided for my guest. Full laundry drop off service and dry cleaners is available a couple of blocks up the street at "Berry Cleaners" or 302 Bedford Ave. My personal assistant/butler and I will check with you on your arrival time, hand over keys and be close at hand for anything you need during your stay. I and my husband are on our private lower floor of the house.
The neighborhood feels like a small village. It is very safe and has such a mixture of different foods, cultures, and restaurants. The Manhattan skyline views along Kent Ave can get no better and the wonderful Pier off North 5 on a Sunday afternoon is full of families, tourist and the occasional fisherman. During the warmer months there are outdoor flea markets and food markets of North 8 on the East River side. Bedford Avenue (3 blocks away) on the North and South side is filled with non chain restaurants, bars and shops.

  • Me and three other friends staid at the "Cabin in the Sky" for about a week over new years eve. All of us loved the place and had no complaints! It is very spacious and cozy, and in a great location. All the appliances work perfectly and the beds are very comfortable. Maria was very helpful and nice getting everything situated as well as Azul who was there to help us whenever we needed it. I would recommend staying here to anyone of my friends or family!

    Jake2013-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • We went to NY to celebrate our 20th anniversary and my 50th birthday. We really enjoyed staying at this Williamsburg apartment. It was everything they had shown and promised on their web site. The warm welcome from Azul was a good start. All facilities we needed were there. The rooftop was a great surprise and special feature! I myself enjoyed the nearby riverside parks, with great view on NYC and the lively streets around Bedford station.

    Coen2015-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was clean, cozy and impeccably charming. As pictured - in a great location near great restaurants, shops and vibes. Azul was extremely accommodating and the entire process was a breeze. Would stay there again!

  • Maria is helpful and welcoming, her place is great its comfortable with rustic charm and is in a fantastic location.

  • Marias apartment is amazing! Not only located great in the Williamsburg neighbourhood (many bars and restaurants just around the corner), but also clean, cozy and very welcoming! We stayed as a party of two and it fitted perfectly. Furniture and everything else is chosen attentively, top highlights are the stove and the nice fireplace. From the roof you have a very nice view on the midtown Manhattan-skyline as well as on the Williamsburg Bridge until Brooklyn Bridge. Both Maria and her guest manager Azul were very kind and considerate, so nothing was missing for our stay there. We definitely recommend staying there for your time in New York!

*** PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE INQUIRING. ** *** THIS IS A SAFE SPACE *** *** Must be LGBTQIA+ friendly because we are, too! *** 🏳️‍🌈 *** We have an adorable cat named Butternut Squashington. If you're allergic, steer clear. I'm sorry you won't be able to meet him. :) *** *** 420 Friendly - cannabis inside, anywhere, cigarette outside. There’s a 420 shelf for all your hardware needs! Dab rig, pipes, papers, grinder, etc *** Check in is at one, but is definitely flexible depending on your needs and the guests prior to you. You can at least drop your bags off if your travel plans have you arriving early in the day. Lauren is a very open-minded queer woman that wants you to have a great time in Denver. She can help you find what you want to do and where you should go to do it. You’ll be communicating with Lauren consistently. Natalie loves to build community and speaks Spanish fluently. The condo is easy to find with lots of parking. Please park on the street. You can use my garage for things like bikes and motorcycles. We’re close to the airport and if you need a ride and we’re available, we can do that for a small fee to cover gas. The bus system is relatively easy to use from my place but gets very limited late at night. If you come when I'm not home I'll guide you to the hideaway key. You have to climb one flight of stairs to get to my condo. Make yourself at home! You and a second guest will sleep on a comfy foam mattress in the guest room (it's private). If there are three or four guests, we can blow up the double tall queen mattress. We travel a lot for work, so you may need to change your own sheets. Lauren is a sound healer and offers discounted treatments if you stay with us. Lauren’s work is to bring the body from a place of imbalance to a place of balance using the vibrations of ancient instruments. It's like a full cellular body massage! We don't have cable - We have internet, plenty of DVDs and a little projector for a fun entertainment center extraordinaire. If you bring a laptop you can connect it via HDMI to the projector, and I have the adaptor for Mac. There's a grocery and liquor store within walking distance if you have any needs that I don't have stocked. Feel free to do laundry with my personal machines and supplies. You need to turn on the light inside the closet where the laundry is to turn the washer on. When leaving please be careful because the cat is quite the escape artist.
Very close to I-25, yet quiet and clean. I have very nice neighbors.
  • Amazing stay. Lauren was amazing with everything and offered some awesome suggestions on places to go, eat, and explore. Her cat is also amazing. Would stay here again 100%.

  • I am so happy I decided to stay with Lauren rather than at an Airbnb that was hostless! Honestly she made our trip so much better. We were in Denver celebrating my sons 8th birthday and he loved Lauren! He even wanted to invite her on all out outings! She really help make his birthday special. If I could give her a million stars, I would. I already miss her company and wouldn't hesitate to stay with her again. I highly recommend her place to stay at to anyone I know traveling to Denver! I can't say enough good things about her. Her apartment is in a great location! She has decorated her home in a beautiful manner and keeps everything very clean and organized! There are positive messages throughout her home which really helps to make you feel happy in the environment. Her cat, Butternut Squashington, is also great company when he's not out for an adventure! She is willing to go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and happy while staying with her. If you come to Denver and stay anywhere else, you'll be missing out!

  • Lauren is one of the best hosts we could have asked for. Apart from her beautiful home and incredible hospitality, she was very responsive to any questions we asked. She made our stay in Denver substantially better and gave us a great introduction to a great city. Included with her lively and welcoming home is her delightful cat, Squash, who made our stay infinitely better. We cannot recommend her place any more and are absolutely coming back if we ever find ourselves in Denver again.

  • Staying at Lauren's place was hands down one of the best experiences we have had. From the moment we arrived we felt like we were welcomed and at home. Her apartment is spacious, clean, and has a very convenient location. Lauren herself is an incredibly genuine, interesting, and helpful person. She helped gave us tips on more than one occasion and was always more than generous. We more than recommend Lauren's space.

5 Points is Denver's historic African American downtown. Once upon a time, Welton Street was home to some of the greatest jazz clubs in the country. The famous Rossonian is in the process of being restored to it's former glory and many music venues have sprung up around the neighborhood. Though the gentrification of 5 Points is well underway, it's residents are hoping to preserve it's diversity and sense of community. This part of Denver is growing and changing rapidly! There are tons of galleries, street art, breweries, restaurants and bars nearby. We are close to Downtown but still quiet and neighborhood-y. please checkout our guide book to see our recommendations. *This is an Urban environment. If you are uncomfortable being around folks of different cultures, classes or colors, please find a different neighborhood to stay in.
  • House is beautiful, clean and easy to get to. Eliza is very communicative and attentive as a host. Thought the eggs, bread and milk in the fridge was a wonderful touch.

  • This house was exactly as advertised. It is a nice, cozy little house that felt like home. Very close to downtown, but on a quiet street. Highly recommended.

  • This was a beautiful house in a wonderful location! Everything was exactly as Eliza described, and she was a wonderful hostess to us, very responsive to questions and accomodating! We had an amazing time thanks to Eliza and her beautiful house!

  • Great house! Extremely homey and well equipped with everything we needed. We were a group of four friends and we slept comfortably and really enjoyed our stay. The house is adorably decorated and Eliza is very generous with her things which makes you feel like you're staying at an old friends house. We had a conference at the downtown Sheraton and the location was easy with great access to downtown via bike rental, light rail or car. It was just perfect!

  • We had a relaxing stay in Eliza's charming home in Denver. The location was great, parking was easy and the house was equipped with everything we needed during our weekend-long stay. Eliza is a communicative and no-fuss host, and quick to respond to additional inquiries. I recommend her wholeheartedly.

  • This is a lovely clean little house, tastefully curated with antiques and original art, and in walking distance of Welton Street and Purple Door Cafe. The kitchen gets tons of light. Heating, internet, and hot water were all great. Five Points is still a little transitional, but we didn't have any problems - this particular block feels quiet and safe, and there are tons of new restaurants and cafes opening on nearby Larimer Street. We had no problems checking in; Eliza was very responsive by phone.

My husband and I had a very nice stay here. The apartment is quite spacious and well laid out, and a short walk to the harbor, beach, restaurants and grocery. We took advantage of the bike rental across the street and found great running areas as well. A a wonderful, quiet place to relax.

I mention that the stay was "much better than expected" because we had some misgivings about not having the entire house to ourselves (which we had never done before) and we were uncertain how our stay would go. However, we had Sue's entire second floor to ourselves. The stairs were immediately inside the front door, there was comfortable sleeping and seating space, and a walk-out deck all of which felt felt very private. Sue met us at the ferry, led us back to her house, and took time to show us around the island. Great location. . . Sue is an excellent host! Already making plans to return. Give our highest recommendation!

I had a great stay at Tara's Meadow. Seamus was a very welcoming host – he met me at the harbor as I was departing from the ferry, and even let me join a historical tour he was giving free of charge. It was easy to coordinate my trip with Seamus (a fair bit of coordination is required for trips to the Island due to the ferry schedule and poor cell reception), and he was generally very helpful. I had a good time preparing dinner with him and dining on his canopy-level balcony in the forest. The house is remote, deep in the woods on the south end of the island. A car is necessary to reach the house from St. James, where the ferry drops you off. A public transit shuttle can be arranged, and I was actually able to rent a truck for the day from one of the Islanders. The space itself is very nice. The main area of the lower level is a comfortable living space and kitchen, with the guest bedroom off to the side. The main space of the upper level is an open meditation/yoga space; Seamus' room is off to the side on the upper floor. The guest bed was a little soft for my taste, but complaining about that is picking nits.

Linda's home is a terrific place to get away and enjoy truly unaltered nature. Beaver Island is beautiful and perfect for both relaxing and exploring - there is a small town with events open to anyone and miles of well-maintained roads and trails that can be used for biking, running, or hiking. Linda's house is close to the town area, but you do need a bike to get around. She was kind enough to pick me up from the ferry and to show me around wherever I wanted. It was truly enjoyable to stay with someone so kind and hospitable - her home was spotless, she was so much fun to talk to, and I really lacked nothing during my stay. Ruby the dog is pretty great too! Overall have nothing but positive things to say, and I walked away feeling that I'd had a great vacation experience with a host I'd really love to stay with again.
