AIRBNB'S #1 "MOST WISHED-FOR LISTING WORLDWIDE!" *Remaining 2018 dates are available exclusively for folks that have the treehouse on their WISH LIST... Suite of three beautifully furnished rooms set among the trees. Just minutes from downtown, this secluded property is an urban retreat like no other. The treehouse provides an intimate, simple and restful retreat for 2 people. The treehouse is the subject of innumerable articles, blogs, Treehouse Masters and Today Show.
We are honored to have been named Airbnb's "#1 most wish-listed property in the world"!!! Thank you! The treehouse has a Southern nature - gracious, calming, and comfortable. Centrally located within the heart of intown Atlanta, the treehouses are a hidden gem. The subject of TV and magazine features including the Today Show, "Treehouse Masters: Ultimate Treehouse IV", Architectural Digest, Travel + Leisure, Harper's Bazaar, and numerous others, they are often described as being the most relaxing, romantic, dreamy and unique place you'll ever stay. What could be better than falling asleep in the trees and waking up to birds singing around you--all within the city limits? The treehouse consists of 3 separate areas - Mind, Body and Spirit - each connected by rope-bridges. Descriptions of the 3 rooms are below. Mind - The Sitting Room: Antique furnishings and artifacts including 80 year old windows of pressed butterfly wings, a plaster cast of a Siberian Tiger paw, fossils, a couch and chairs, its a great place to read or talk and has a balcony overlooking an acre of lush woods... Body - The Bedroom: Sleeps 2. What could be better than a great bed up in the trees? The super comfortable double bed is outfitted with the world's best bedding: Parachute. These cozy linens are made of 100% long-staple Egyptian cotton and pure Linen. They're Oeko-Tex certified, meaning no harmful chemicals or softening synthetics have been used. You'll have your best night's sleep ever here at the Treehouse! The bed is equipped with wheels so it can either be inside the room or rolled out onto a platform that overlooks the stream below. The mattress has a warmer for cool nights and the tin roof makes rain storms something to be enjoyed. Spirit - The Hammock Deck: Open to the elements and immersed in thick greenery, the deck surrounds the spirited "Old Man", a 165 year old Southern Short-Leaf Pine tree--the largest of the 7 trees that support the treehouse suite and watch over its guests. BATHROOM IS LOCATED IN THE BASEMENT/LOWER LEVEL OF OUR PRIVATE HOME. GUESTS WILL HAVE EXCLUSIVE ACCESS TO IT DURING THEIR STAY. The treehouses and main house share a lot and are within a 30 second walk to one another.
The neighborhood is a quiet, residential place. While our lot is located in a particularly peaceful, private and lush part of the area, it is important to remember that it is in the middle of intown Atlanta. And while very private, you can see other residential buildings from the treehouses.. While you may hear the occasional siren, normal neighborhood noise, the devil's hair dryer (leaf blower) or train whistle during your stay, the most common sound is that of silence broken only by birds, frogs and the wind in the trees.
  • This place is SOOOO much BETTER than advertised. Although, no pictures and words could truly do it justice. Peter welcomed my wife and I with open arms and introduced us to the OLD MAN (tree) that looks over these magical tree houses. Nestled within a quiet neighborhood, with all Atlanta has to offer right around the corner, is a peaceful oasis from your everyday life. If you're looking for a luxury hotel- go elsewhere- this is for those of us looking for a unique way to immerse yourself in and reconnect with nature. Snuggled in your super comfy bed with a warm mattress pad beneath you, you can gaze up at a gorgeous canopy of leaves, straight to the heavens. Close your eyes and hear the birds, frogs and crickets. Breathe in deep and smell the honeysuckle and lilac. Then wake up to Peter's yummy coffee and gorgeous sunrises! If you are fortunate enough to have the opportunity, relish every minute. We never wanted to leave, but being there has given me new perspective and renewed energy.

  • We cannot say enough about our wonderful and relaxing get-away! The treehouse surpassed all expectations and Peter is a wonderful host. He leaves you to complete privacy but also just a text message away for great recommendations and assistance. Peter's coffee is amazing... and I am a coffee snob!! But that made the mornings even better. Take Peter's advice and Postmate in all your needs and spend the day among the trees unplugged from it all. This is a must stay for all young parents who need to get away!!! Thanks Peter for great conversation. We hope to return one day!! Come to Ohio for a farm get-away anytime!

  • Peters incredibly romantic and delightful treehouse is an experience not to be missed. We suggest you pick up some goodies on the way there because you won’t want to leave. once you arrive. Truly like going back to childhood. The White lights sparkle and make it feel like you’re living the dream. There are even flowers from the trees that land on the walkway as if placed there perfectly just for you. We will be back.

  • The tree house was nothing short of magical. Peter greeted us upon arrival and gave us tour. The tree houses have so many tiny amazing details, it was nice hearing the background from Peter and getting to discover so many other cute decorations and details over the weekend. As many of the other reviews mentioned, you are not going to want to leave!! It's the perfect place for a relaxing getaway. We took a cab to the tree house and walked up to the nearest grocery store to get snacks. After that we didn't leave much because the tree houses was where we wanted to be. Peter, thank you so much for sharing your space with us. This will be a weekend trip we will never forget and we hope to visit again.

  • My wife and I stayed at the tree house March 11th. This was a surprise for my wife on our 2nd anniversary. After coming back from Callaway Gardens this was a very relaxing way to spend the night. Peter and Katie were very nice and hospitable. The wine was great and everything seemed perfectly laid out. I highly recommend the tree house if you're a guy and want to spend some quality time with your special someone and earn some big brownie points! If you're worried about the rain, don't be. It was a welcomed surprise. And no you won't get wet.

  • Perfect setting for a romantic anniversary nestled away in the middle of the city. Everything about the experience was amazing and picturesque.

    Eliza2014-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • The stay at Katie and Peters Treehouse exceeded our expectations. With the setting of the treehouse it kept the Georgia bugs away and the great space and fans kept us comfortable during our time spent there. We were pleased with the available wifi giving us the opportunity to spend a night in a fairy tale location enjoying Netflix movies and wine. I would love to go back!

    Zach2015-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely magical! We had an amazing stay in the treehouse. Helpful instructions were given upon arrival and an introduction to the oldest tree in the area. We enjoyed the wine, snacks, and coffee provided. It was great reading other peoples experiences in the guest book. Sleeping and waking up under the trees is a feeling I will never forget. Thank you for creating and sharing such a magical place. I would recommend all to stay here!

Escape civilization to this incredible and peaceful getaway! Reconnect with nature and disconnect from technology on your own private deck surrounded by pristine and untouched nature just a short drive away from LA.
This is the personal Airstream of a nature-loving Malibu designer who built it as his personal getaway from his busy hectic schedule. Stripped down to its bare aluminum studs, the airstream has been redesigned into a large studio with three large frameless glass panels that slide open to a huge cantilevered deck with unrivaled views of the pristine Santa Monica mountains rolling down to the Pacific ocean below. Lounge in our luxury extra thick wool rugs and cotton poufs, drive down to surf one of Malibu's best breaks or go hike Sandstone Peak (Santa Monica's highest mountain). But whatever you do, make sure not to miss the incredible sunsets off our deck. At night, watch the milky way appear and count the constellations above or the moon reflect on the ocean below. And if the wind is right, listen to the sounds of the crashing waves travel up the canyon or even the seals barking down below. And then at dawn, if you're lucky with the morning fog, wake up above the clouds like you are the only person in this planet. VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT CLICK ON THE AIRBNB LINK FOR DIRECTIONS as it might take you to the wrong location. Only use the accurate directions provided on our itinerary. If you don't you might get lost and we are not responsible if you do not follow our easy and foolproof directions. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS LISTING if you are afraid of nature or its creatures. Understand you are surrounded by thousands of completely untouched nature. You are very likely to hear (or see) coyotes, owls, seals, roadrunners and bunnies. There is a bobcat in the area but these are usually very skittish. There are a mice in the Santa Monica mountains. About once a month, a guest will complain that they saw a mouse. Said mouse might come into the airstream if food is left outside the fridge. We do not offer refunds if a mouse comes into the airstream but we do have 4 traps around the airstream so the odds are heavily stacked against the mice. In three years we have yet to ever see a rattle snake near the airstream so the area is definitely not prone to them. This listing is weather dependent. If there is a high chance of rain scheduled during your stay we reserve the right to cancel the reservation due to potential slippery road conditions and the fact that we have to store all the expensive furniture inside the airstream. The beauty of this experience lies in seeing infinite views and yet no trace of humankind. Sleeping with the doors open, under the milky-way while hearing the ocean waves crashing below and the occasional seal barking in the distance or coyote howling for its pack. Our guests have the most special nights here. Reconnect with nature and disconnect from technology :-)
Circle x ranch, county line beach, matador beach, zuma as well as many other hikes are all less than 10mn away.
  • Bates, the Wolf, muy guapo, incroyable, 漂亮!

  • Some experiences in life you'll never forget. This is one of them. From sunrises to starry night skies, the views are simply breathtaking. I would book this place again in a heartbeat. Make sure to bring a thick blanket and some wine to relax outside at night. If you thoroughly read the itinerary and directions you shouldn't have any problems getting there. Enjoy!

  • Christian was a great host, very responsive to questions, and had the place looking stunning and welcoming when we arrived. The electricity was not working at the time, but the candlelit airstream during the full moon was just insane.

    Ryan2015-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a magical place to stay! This was the perfect place for a relaxing, cozy stay in what felt like the middle of nowhere, but just an hour from LA. The views were spectacular. Everything looks exactly like the photos.

  • lovely spot. great communication and directions. dream spot!

    Gabriel2018-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place. Price is pretty steep, but my wife and I splurged for our anniversary and felt it was worth the money. You have nearly total privacy and almost complete silence, the only exception being very, very loud motorcycles on PCH that are barely audible. The views of the ocean are incredible, and it was awesome watching the fog/clouds roll in and out below us in the morning and evening. Both nights had clear skies, so we were able to see the Milky Way and catch the front end of the Perseids meteor shower from the deck. The place is a tad bit different than the pictures show as of July 2016. There are only two large cushions on the deck (not four) in order to make space for a solar panel and battery that can be used to power electronic devices. The bed has a queen memory foam mattress, and was very comfy. There were a few cons, but we did not feel that they warranted a loss of a full 5 stars. First, we could not get the oven to work, so don't expect any cookies like in the pictures unless that is resolved (Christian admitted to us that he had never actually tried to use it). Given the cleanliness of the oven, it seems that no one has ever used it. Second, the weeds around the outhouse/shower were getting pretty overgrown and in need of trimming, especially at the stairs and at the sinks. Ask the hosts to specifically make sure the weeds are cut back before your stay. Third, and this is not really a con but just a result of the "camping" nature of the place, mice will try to eat your food at night, so stuff like nuts and crackers and bagged chips can't be left out on the counters (or in the oven), even if the glass doors are closed. All in all, we would love to stay here again. One of the most relaxing places my wife and I have ever been to. If you enjoy camping even a little bit, you will love this place.

  • Amazing place, who knew that something this beautiful existed! The key is good weather, I went in Feb and it was max 60 and lows of about 45. The nights were really cold so I'm glad I brought an extra blanket. It also rained on my last day, so driving down the hill was super scary since there was a lot of mud. I was in a sedan. Overall, amazing place, I will go back but only during the summer. One of the best weekends ever. Thanks, Rani!

    Matt2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • It's no doubt the best airbnb experience. At the beginning I couldn't make up my mind, now I am so glade I did. If you think pictures must look better then the real thing then you are WRONG. I watch the most amazing sunset in my life; the most clear sky full of stars at night; the sun rise above the ocean is just speechless, my English is not good enough to describe, you must see with your own eyes. I didn't meet Christian, but he is responsive and friendly. The road drive up to the mountain is an adventure, butch you are a very good driver no problem , but if you are not very confident u should bring a good driver. I highly recommend this place, it's a very romantic place to spend a night with your loved one.

The Joshua Tree House is a two bed two bath 1949 hacienda located 10 minutes from the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park in Joshua Tree, CA. This is a place for dreamers to reset, reflect, and create. Designed with a 'slow' pace in mind, our hope is that you enjoy every part of your stay; from making local coffee by drip in the morning, choosing the perfect record to put on as the sun sets, or by relaxing in the hot tub surrounded by over 100 Joshua Trees and a starry night sky.
Instagram: @thejoshuatreehouse (all photos tagged with #thejoshuatreehouse) This house is very close to downtown Joshua Tree with many shops and restaurants about a 10 minute walk from the house. This also means that some sound from the highway can be heard. If you're looking for a completely silent desert experience, we would recommend our other property: The Joshua Tree Casita (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/10614974). Please also check that listing if you can't find the dates you're looking for. Welcome to the Joshua Tree House! This hacienda was built in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) With over 100 Joshua Trees on the property, the views from the house are magical. If you're up for it, sunrise on the front porch is incredible. We estimate that some of the larger Joshua Trees on the property are as old as our country! *Mattresses and Bedding by Casper* There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms in the house, and works well for a group of friends, two couples, or small families. We can also set up an extra memory foam mattress in the hammock room (has privacy with pocket sliding doors) to accommodate groups of six.
Joshua Tree is a small community made up of musicians, artists, and explorers. In the village you will find locally owned and run restaurants, art galleries, music venues, and vintage shops. There are many wonderful places to visit during your stay at the house including the Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy & Harriet's, the Integratron, Salvation Mountain, the Salton Sea, Noah Purifoy Outdoor Museum, Crossroads, BKB Ceramics, and la Copine (a delicious new french restaurant in the desert).
  • The home was magical! Everything was better than we could have imagined. We can wait to go back

  • We absolutely loved every detail of this place! And the Horton under the stars was amazing!

  • Okay so, I have a knack for finding beautiful spaces on Airbnb and of ALL the places I've ever stayed, this is hands-down the most special. You can feel the love in every beautiful detail, the energy is impeccable, the vibes are so so so creative and clear. I had the most beautiful stay there with a soul sister of mine. We loved how it was quiet yet convenient, so open and airy, and just full of thought and love. Dunking in the cowboy pool in the front is the BEST for the summer season. I never missed a front-porch sunrise, and I'm not even a sunrise person. I want to come back again and again and again.

  • Our stay at Joshua Tree House was more than perfect! Sara and Rich's house is awesome, a perfect little get away! The house was filled with charm and personal touches that made you feel at home with a little boho/midcentury vibe!

  • Beautiful and comfortable home. Very friendly hosts with attention to detail that made it a welcoming stay!

    Kevin2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I were super excited to stay in this home after seeing what it looked like. The home was beautifully decorated and watching the sunrise and sunset from the porch was a great addition. It was very easy settling in and they send over instructions and suggestions that were very helpful. Overall, staying at this house was an awesome and relaxing time.

With a geodesic dome loft & a large deck in the trees, you'll feel like you're in a tree house in the woods. Since we book so far in advance, if you would like to stay here, check out our other listing, the Hummingbird Haven: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6562632. We have been listing with airbnb since July '09 and have had the most reservations of any of their listings! But you've got to plan ahead if you want to stay here.
We have 10 acres next to land without fences so you will get to enjoy nature: just hang out on the deck, take a hike in the woods, watch the hummingbirds, pet the goats, go to the beach or gaze at the stars - as long as the moon isn't full. ; ) During the summer, if there isn't any nightly fog, we can see the Milky Way here. To check our availability, click on the "Request to Book" link. And yes, if it isn't available, it is already booked! If you want to stay here on a weekend, you will usually need to make your reservation request about 9-11 months in advance. (Please read all of this description before making a reservation request.) The cozy and clean semi-rustic cabin has a loft under a geodesic dome (the "mushroom cap"). In the loft is a Queen-sized super popular Casper Mattress which allows for very comfortable sleeping and just hanging out. We provide clean sheets and pillow cases. Plenty of blankets are also provided. The other "bed" is a couch that we can make up into a bed. If there are going to be 2 of you, but you want separate beds, please make the reservation for 3 or let me know ahead of time - there is a $10. charge for using it as a bed. In the loft, we have a 32" HD Flat Screen and a DVD player (no TV) for movies. (We have over 80 movies you can view as well.) On the main floor (a Pentagon) is the couch and a pull-out table. We provide a small refrigerator, a blender, Hot Air Popcorn Popper, French Coffee Press, an Electric Water Kettle, (ask about our other appliances) a salad spinner and dishes. Yes, we have a wine opener. We have 2 tables where you can enjoy meals, games, etc.: 1 inside and 1 outside on the large deck that faces the redwoods. We also have a barbecue grill on the deck with an extra gas burner on the side. We provide Organic Coffee, teas, Oatmeal, popcorn, butter, honey, sugar, nutritional yeast (for the popcorn!) spices, oil and vinegar and various snacks. Our well water is treated by an ozonator, a UV light and a soft water filter. If you have a baby and you won't be needing the second bed, make your reservation for 2 and let us know if you will need a small pad for the loft. Again, if there are 2 of you but you want to use the second bed, please make your reservation for 3. The cute bathroom has a Travertine shower, custom tiled sink and a Natures Head self-contained composting toilet. Some guests have had a problem with our bathroom, so I want to make it clear that we have a curtain for the door to the bathroom and we require that you put your used toilet paper in the trash. (it won't smell) If you follow the instructions for how to use the toilet, it won't have any odor. If the thought of using a composting toilet grosses you out, then don't make a reservation here. ; ) We provide towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, a hair blow-dryer, etc. (a word of caution: the bathroom has a low ceiling. If you are over 6' you may have to do a little ducking here and there.) As Saturdays are very much in demand, (and we like to be free on Saturdays), we require a minimum 2 day stay on the weekends. Keep in mind that Friday and Saturday nights are $155. - $160. each. Therefore, to stay here on a weekend will cost $310. $360. plus the $35. cleaning fee, the $41 airbnb fee and the 11% Santa Cruz County Transient Tax of about $42. So for the weekend, it will be a total of at least $428. To stay for 1 day mid-week costs a grand total of about $200. On 3 day holidays, we require a 3 day reservation. (This includes Presidents Day, Memorial Day, M.L.King day, and Labor Day.) But to stay here on a weekend, you will usually have to book the cabin 6 - 8 months in advance - unless you are lucky to find a cancellation! Check-in time is between 4 and 10pm. If you want to come sooner or later, this can sometimes be arranged. Check-out time is noon. As we have experienced some damage from guests, we are now requiring a $100. security deposit. Although it feels very isolated here, we are less than 10 minutes to Aptos Village where you will find stores, restaurants, a health food store, Safeway, etc. We are centrally located on the Monterey Bay: 10 minutes from the beach (Rio Del Mar and Seacliff State Beach) as well as the 10,000 acre Nisene Marks State Park for miles of hiking or dirt biking in the Redwoods and along Aptos creek. We are 20 minutes to downtown Santa Cruz, 25 min. to the Beach Boardwalk, 45 minutes to Monterey and the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, 50 min. to Carmel and 1 1/2 hours to Big Sur going south and San Francisco to the North. Yup, we are located in one of the most beautiful areas of California. (these times are not during rush hour(s) ; ) If you love hummingbirds, bring your camera. Our garden is the year-round home to many Anna Hummingbirds. (We usually have about 250-500 year-round) During the summer, we are also called home by many Rufus and Allen Hummers as well. So you have got to see our "Hummingbird Airport" where we feed them about 120 oz. of syrup on a summer day! Please, no smoking in the cabin or on the property. We used to let smokers stay here, but they stink up the cabin and it is a fire hazard outside. Some cell phones don't work here, but since we have free wifi in the cabin, if your phone works with a wifi network, you are good to call. You can sometimes get Verizon service on the swinging seat by the driveway. To learn about things to do in the area, do an internet search for Santa Cruz, CA. Dogs are welcome to stay here but with a few requirements: since we have so many animals, we require that your dogs be kept on a leash when outside (the goats get very nervous with large loose dogs). Also, we don't allow dogs in the loft or on the couch downstairs so please bring a doggie bed. (your doggie can go on the couch if you bring a cover for it) If that is difficult, let us know and we will provide a doggie pillow. We have a gate that we can set up so your dog can be off the leash on the deck. If you are bringing a small child, we can put a folding futon (2/3rds of the futon or a foam pad next to the bed ) Just let us know ahead of time. Keep in mind, though, that a child should not be left in the loft by themselves as the bed is fairly high up against the rail. As we are about 3 miles to the nearest bus stop, it is pretty difficult to stay here without a car. You are invited, if you feel you would be harmonious here. Pet the goats, check out our chickens, cats, miniature dog and enjoy the very fresh air. I might even teach you how to milk a goat. If you come here when there is no moonlight and the sky is clear, you will see lots of stars. Tired of the heat in the summer? Since we are on the edge of the "fog belt", it can be both sunny and cool here. If you want a noisy place, you won't like it here: most of the sound here comes from the birds or crickets chirping, the tree frogs croaking and the breeze blowing through the trees. People do live on the land here though, so don't expect it to be totally devoid of human sounds and the occasional chain saw. : ) (We feed the goats oak branches)
Even though we live only a 8 minute drive to Aptos village and the beaches, it feels very remote and private here. It is usually very quiet at night - sometimes we can hear the ocean waves crashing on the beach. There is lots of land to hike on and explore here as well. We have 11 people living here in a rather loose community.
  • Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Great little cabin, wonderful places to hike, and fresh goat's milk! C'mon! Nothing but good energy and gorgeous scenery. Definitely one of my new favorite places. Thank you Kitty! Reyjeana - S.F.

  • We had such a great time! Kitty made my daugter and I feel right at home. We decided we will be coming back again in October! Such a unique experience.

    Jennifer2010-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • nice people. cute little cabin. a great area with nice parks, beaches, restaurants. relaxing but plenty to do.

    Frederick2010-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Kitty was very friendly and the cabin was in a great location for us--we enjoyed the quiet, while also being close to santa cruz and monterey. I stayed with my two young girls and we enjoyed getting cozy on the bed and watching movies. Very well-equipped, and the deck is fantastic. One thing to note, the ladder going up to the loft requires some agility, so anyone withe limited mobility might have a tough time. It took my bones a minute to warm up to the climb in the morning. Also, the permaculture toilet took us awhile to get the hang up, so just master that upon arrival or you'll deal with some unpleasant smells. Overall, a charming place with a lovely hostess.

    Anne2011-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect contrast to the touristy areas around the Santa Cruz beaches-a very cozy cabin in peaceful, beautiful surroundings. It has all the positives of a rustic off-the-grid experience, without the “roughing it” quality. For example, the bed was extremely comfortable and there was plenty of very hot water—not something I’d expect in a cabin in the woods. The size is perfect for a couple and the location is convenient to beaches. The hostess Kitty is the icing on the cake. She is warm and welcoming and goes above and beyond for her guests. You really do feel that her unique home is your home. Watching the hummingbirds flock to the feeders on her deck alone was a treat that made me want to come back.

    Linda2013-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at the Mushroom Dome. Kitty met us, gave us a full tour when we arrived and shared some stories when we arrived. She was also nice enough to share some fresh goat milk. We enjoyed that the kitchen was fully stocked and it was nice to grill on the little deck. It was a new experience for us to stay in a "tiny house" and the comfortable loft bed and great light in the place was a plus.

    Elizabeth2014-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great! I took my girlfriend here for her birthday as a suprise & she loved it. It basically rained the whole weekend but it didn't bother us because we were enjoying our cozy retreat so much. Kitty was very welcoming & even showed us the many, many hummingbirds that live on the property. Looking forward to returning to this unique place someday.

    Mark2012-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • The mushroom dome is a cute place with a view of redwoods from its little outdoor deck. Just next to the cabin is a path that leads past a wonderful climbing tree up a hill with a magnificent view. The cabin has a little kitchenette and a warm shower. Kitty gave us a warm welcome and some delicious, home produced goat milk. Before we left he showed us her hummingbird feeding station - amazing! We must have seen 20 - 30 hummingbirds, hovering and shimmering in the sun! Great way to start a day.

  • A once in a lifetime experience - just wish I had been in better physical shape for the hike up the hill to the house - but beyond worth it - just a little harder after enjoying the wine tours : )

  • The Hobbit Inn was by far the most magical experience we have ever had. I'm including Disney Land in this. Everything was perfect, down to each and every detail. A nerd's fantasy come true.

  • Staying at the hobbit hole was such a dream come true! Every detail was so beautiful and well thought out, we spent so long just studying every aspect of the structure, it really is a work of art! The landscape was also extraordinary! The sunset and sunrise were so peaceful, and getting to see so many stars at night was truly unforgettable. So grateful for the experience!

The Off-grid itHouse brings together raw industrial aesthetics with the tactics of green design to forge a new home in the sunbaked wilds of the California high desert.
The Off-grid itHouse is an architecturally significant house, recently noted by Dwell as one of the 'Best Homes in America' and in the Los Angeles Times as one of the best houses of all time in Southern California. The Off-grid itHouse is one of 10 IT Houses built in California, which have received much acclaim such as the Western Home award sponsored by Sunset magazine. Also noted as one of the top 10 airbnb rentals worldwide. This is the prototype for the pre-engineered system known as the IT House. The house is 100% off-grid, powered by solar panels for energy and hot water, and is located in a pristine remote valley in the beautiful California high desert. The house observes key green principals of smaller footprint, minimal disturbance to the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, use of renewable resources, and living simply and minimally. The setting of the house is remote and serene, a quiet refuge from everything, free from distractions. Amazing views and vistas in all directions. Perfect for design or green aficionados, writers or those needing a secluded quiet getaway.
Located in Pioneertown, CA, nearby several unique attractions, Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy and Harriets Pioneertown Palace, local museums and art venues such as the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum, the Integratron, and other seasonal events.
  • Beautiful house that I will never forget. I wish it could be a secret. The surroundings are incredibly quiet and the house is very calming. No TV, no Internet, no phone signal. I hope it stays that way.

    Justin2012-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at the iT House was a memorable and unique experience. Not only architecturally beautiful, the house was a true departure from city life. Going to sleep in the peaceful desert, glittered by stars, and waking up to the gorgeous landscapes was a treat. Linda coordinated our stay perfectly, and the house was immaculate. Perfect for two couples looking for off the grid solitude.

    Anna2014-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Off-grid itHouse was wonderful! The setting is stunning and the structure is quite impressive. The capacity of solar panels also impressed us as we had no need to compromise whatsoever. The house is located relatively close to Pioneertown, but certainly far enough from everything and everyone to maintain a piece and quite that every city dweller has forgotten existed. We thoroughly recommend the Off-grid itHouse if you are planning a trip to Joshua Tree. You simply can't go wrong.

    Wesley2015-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • We saw an article about Linda and the Off Grid house in Dwell and decided to book it. We were there for 3 nights and we really enjoyed the "disconnect" from our daily lives, This was the quietest and most peaceful place we have visited. Next time we will stay for at least 5 nights. Beautiful house and gorgeous sunrises and sunsets.

    William2015-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location and house! The perfect place to relax and think. Inspiring. Linda is super helpful. I reccommend this rental experience to anyone.

    Eli2010-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • The location was amazing, a very nice getaway spot. The amenities in the house are really nice, but there was no WiFi when due to some maintenance, so there’s no network of any kind around the house. It’s better to bring a downloaded gps map.

    Jingjie2018-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • The house is really such a wonderfully designed place that you are spoilt afterwards for the standard house. Great architecture in a fantastic surrounding so you can just sit inside enjoying the view in that amazing landscape or looking at the sky and watch the light changing. And you become aware of the waste of energy in our daily life because you have to save it for cooking and lamps if you don't want to sit in the (Website hidden by Airbnb) it's an eye-opener in every sense.

    Anuschka2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, perfect spot to relax and switch off. The house was great - the views even better! The sunsets and sunrises were out of this world and it felt like we were sleeping in a planetarium with all the stars.

Charming and romantic,' Round' Cottage on the Santarella Estate in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. Formerly, the cottage was sculptor Henry Hudson Kitson's summer studio on the Santarella Estate. The two-story cottage has a charming bedroom with 35 foot high conical ceiling with canopied bed upstairs with views through massive, multi-paned "mill windows" to the trees and sky and out to the lily pond. The downstairs sitting room looks out on the babbling brook and lovely gardens.
Now open year-round! Charming, One Bedroom Cottage, former sculpting studio on the Santarella Estate in Tyringham, MA. Known as the "Silo Studio" Cottage. There is a bedroom with canopied queen bed upstairs and a sitting room with window bench-seat, coffee table, table and chairs, kitchenette area with wet bar with Micro/Fridge coffeemaker, toaster and bathroom with shower are downstairs. Fall asleep to sounds of the babbling brook and views to pond and forest from the large screened openings upstairs, like living in a "tree-house". Accommodates two only, fully furnished, all linens, towels included. There is Satellite DTV and Wireless Internet on site. The cottage is situated on four acres including lovely gardens, beautiful lily pond, running brooks and 2 acre woods. Absolutely unique, one-of-a-kind experience! Please Note, the cottage has traditionally been a three season rental from approximately March- November, however, due to much interest and demand, we have recently added a larger capacity pellet stove and made winterizing efforts and plan on keeping it open for guests interested in a winter experience in the cottage! Please keep in mind that access to our grounds may be limited with the accumulation of snow in winter months. During predicted extreme weather events, we will gladly work with guests to change reservations as we are always concerned for their comfort! Our lovely grounds are open to our guests. There are garden paths, babbling brook with stone bridges, loveliest of lily ponds, stone bench seating area with 'chiminea' and firewood for guest's use. There are two acres of woods with a loop trail as well. The town has an exceptionally beautiful Swimming Pond about 2 miles away which our guests may use. There are BBQs and picnic tables and it is often deserted. While we do have a pet friendly policy, prior approval and acceptance of our rules and policies is required before a pet may stay with you in our accommodations. There is also a $25.00 additional pet cleaning charge. The cottage is located on the Santarella Estate surrounded by gardens and storybook architecture. Santarella is located in the Tyringham Valley, tucked away 3.5 miles from Mass. I-90, a lovely and magical place where one feels like they have stepped back in time. This is definitely a place to 'get away from it all', enjoy quiet, rural surroundings close to the Appalachian Trail and Tyringham Cobble for hiking and many lovely ponds for swimming or kayaking. Vehicle is necessary. Grocery and other shopping at 3.5 miles.
Tyringham Valley was one of the original settlements in Western Massachusetts. It is mostly agricultural conserved land giving it a very rural, bucolic and idyllic character. The lovely 'Hop Brook' runs through the middle of the valley which is sparsely populated with mostly historic homes, making one feel like they have stepped back in time. An original, beautifully preserved Shaker settlement sits on top of the hillside opposite Santarella, overlooking it. At the far end of the valley, the gracious columns of the burned Ashintully mansion overlook the entire valley and are all that remain of the gilded-age estate which has beautiful preserved formal gardens, great to visit and hike. The Appalachian Trail is 2.25 miles from the cottage.
  • The Silo was a wonderful place to spend a weekend outside of the city. The silo is as peaceful and lovely as it looks, and Denise was gracious enough to give us a tour of the other properties and told us a bit about their history. She was also fantastic with providing lots of great recommendations for the area for both activities and restaurants. The 3 restaurants we ate at off of her list were all perfect. Thanks again Denise!

    Sarah2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic place! Enchanting and magical are the only words to describe it.

    Sandra2016-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • My version of heaven might be Santarella. The place itself is truly enchanting— even more lovely than the photos, if that’s possible. Denise and Denis are the perfect hosts; umbrellas and wine appear when you need them, advice when you want it, and chat or solitude, as well. Thank you both for sharing such a special place!

    Jill2018-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I had a wonderful July 4th 2013 weekend here. The grounds are meticulously groomed and magical and the Santarella estate resembles a medieval gingerbread cottage. The silo we stayed in was charming and romantic. The hosts were so friendly. They even have a gorgeous and friendly cat named Bidi!!! The estate is ideally located with easy access to Lee, Lenox, Stockbridge, Pittsfield, and the Mass Pike. We are looking forward to our next trip to the Berkshires and will definitely be staying there again. We have told our friends and family about how wonderful this place is.

    Celia2013-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Denise was so very welcoming and hospitable. The silo is gorgeous and my husband and I had a really relaxing weekend. The grounds are beautiful covered with snow! I would recommend it 100%

    Carolina2016-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and wanted something magical. Denise and the Silo Studio was exactly that. The weather was a bit chilly, but the fireplace made the cottage quite cozy and the canopy bed up in the loft was pure heaven.

    Jeff2015-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we arrived we were enchanted by the magic of the house and the surrounding area. It was one of the most gorgeous and serene places I have ever seen. Denise was such a sweetheart! So accommodating, informative and willing to help us with anything we needed to make our stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. The silo cottage is straight out of a fairy tale. Ever since we came back, we have been questioned on Santarella from - hopefully- many prospective visitors. Denise also gave us a tour of the neighboring Gingerbread House and oh my - was that a gem! Ideal place for a wedding! Simply stunning cottage and grounds, lovely hosts! We love the Berkshires!

    Dorota2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Denise's silo cottage studio could not have been more perfect. We traveled here for the beginning of our honeymoon and had the most restful, magical, and quiet time. Denise gave great tips for restaurants (the Dream Away Lodge was magic!), as well as tips for hikes, swimming, and other areas to explore. We definitely plan on returning in the future.

Red cinder leads you through the dense jungle to your secluded bamboo treehouse. Nestled on top of stilts 15' up in the canopy of the local flora, ascend to your retreat via the trapdoor or begin your adventure in Volcano National Park 10 miles away.
Upon arrival, let the red cinder path be your yellow brick road as you are lead through the jungle to your personal paradise. At ground level you will encounter a hanging bed, suspended beneath the floor of your new living quarters. Stop and relax or continue up the staircase to the trapdoor. It is through this trapdoor that you are allowed access to the lanai amongst the canopy of trees. A beautiful wrap around lanai allows for a 360 degree view of the lush jungle, while two sliding glass doors grant access to the bedroom. Upon entering, you will notice that the generous windows and doors allow for natural sunlight to flood into the house, complementing the bamboo fixtures and vintage 1970s wallpaper that backs the bed. The white bed linens reflect the light giving a dreamy, cloud-like aura to the space. There is counter stocked with a local coffee and snacks nestled into a corner of the house and overlooked by the handcrafted porthole windows. Bamboo backed cubby holes and hangers furnish the wall behind you and create an elegant, minimalist closet space for you to store your personal items for the duration of your stay. Just past the closet is a sliding door that accesses one of the most fun areas of the house: the bathroom. The bathroom jalousie windows stretch from the floor to the ceiling and the horizontal glass plates open up, creating an indoor-outdoor effect. Naturally caught rainwater cascades from the large shower head above before disappearing into the floor boards below. You'll notice that the natural theme spills over into the bathroom with sustainable cork board backing the shower and air plants intermittently growing throughout. The toilet and hand-made rock sink in the corner make use of grey water eco-principles by allowing you to wash your hands with fresh water before it goes on to fill the bowl. One of the most fun aspects of this property is that it allows you the opportunity to experience true off-grid living without sacrificing any of the comforts of normal life. Natural lighting, solar power and rain water catchment are the three principles that have been integrated into this tree top design, making it almost like a living organism itself. The beauty of this high flying haven is in the details. I spent the better part of three months personally constructing the building as well as the accessories inside. My goal was to create a customized and secluded space for your occasion. The chandelier, hanging lights, port-hole windows, rock sink and platform bed were all DIY projects that I specifically created to enhance your experience. The bamboo pillars that 'support' the lanai and the moss carpet under the hanging bed were harvested from local areas on the Big Island. IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS BEFORE MAKING A RESERVATION Don't worry, the capital letters are just to emphasize importance. I'm not mad at you. But please read this entire section before making a reservation. As lush and inviting as the Dreamy Tropical Treehouse is, there are inevitable 'challenges' that come with staying in an off-grid treehouse in the Hawaiian jungle. My goal is to give you an experience that combines adventure and luxury so I want to make sure that you are aware of the following things: 1. The treehouse is about 15-feet off the ground and is only accessible by the 'ladder-stairs'. 'Ladder-stairs' is just another way of saying 'very steep' stairs. There is a hand railing and none of my visitors have ever had a problem going up and down. There is a pulley system for hoisting up your bags. Only those who believe they are physically capable should book a stay. Just remember to go up and down the stairs facing them... like a ladder! 2. The running water comes from the rain falling on the roof and is not treated; therefore, the water is not potable. I will provide several bottles of drinking water. 3. The electricity you use is generated by sunlight and is stored in a battery. Once the battery runs out of power it has to recharge. This shouldn’t happen but just be mindful not to leave lights or power hungry items running for extended periods of time (No hairdryers). The windows allow for plenty of light during the day. 4. This is the rainy side of the Big Island so expect some showers! Realize that the pitter-patter on the roof is the rain's first stop on its journey to the water tanks and then to your shower. Also notice how warm it is. Don't think of rain as a trip ruiner but instead an asset to be enjoyed! 5. There are bugs but this isn't the Amazon. For such a tropical climate you will be surprised at how few bugs there are. The main things you will see are moths, fruit flies (due to fruit falling off of the trees) and mosquitoes. Bug repellent is provided but it never hurts to bring your own. They really don't get that bad but their presence increases after a hard rain and during the twilight hours. Luckily, the hanging bed has mosquito netting that drapes down to encompass it. 6. Noises. Living off-grid in the jungle also brings about its own set of noises. The water pump and solar inverter will make soft noises throughout the day as they are used. The falling fruit from the vivie trees can also be alarming if you don't know what it is, and at night you are going to be serenaded by the sweet chirping of coqui frogs. Rustling branches, grunts and squeals typically means that the cute family of wild pigs is nearby. They are harmless and will runoff as soon as they sense your presence. Quietly grab the binoculars and, if you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of them! All of these aspects are what makes this place so unique and, with the right mindset, they’ll only enhance your overall experience. Guests have free range to fully utilize every aspect of the house. The hanging bed, wrap-around porch, indoor-outdoor shower and closet are at your full disposal. I have recently installed a kitchenette that has a sink, cooler for storing food/drinks, and a coffee maker (also capable of heating up water). Any and all goodies stocked in the house are there for your enjoyment. Here is a more comprehensive list of amenities and features that will be available to you: •Indoor/Outdoor Shower •Toilet with Overlaid Sink •Organic Shampoo/Conditioner •Towels •Ample Parking •Tiki Torch ‘Flashlights’ •Hanging Bed •Table and Chairs for Lanai •Binoculars •Several Books •Outlets (3-prong and USB) •Kitchen Sink •Coffee Maker •Clean Linens •Gramophone Music Player for iPhones •Cooler for Food/Drink •Card Game Guest interaction can be tailored to your needs. My goal is to make sure your stay is unforgettable so you can always contact me via phone or email. Because I do not live on the island year round, a local neighbor can assist you if you have any problems that need tending to. Upon your arrival I can arrange to have someone greet you and show you the property or simply stow away the key for your convenience. The choice, of course, is yours. Even though I am not on site, I can always be reached. Feel free to call/text/email me at any time during your stay should the unlikely event that a problem arises. I will immediately contact the proper authority to have the problem remedied. The treehouse is located at the end of a neighborhood street making it very private. It is set about 50 yards off the street behind a windy, jungle path further adding to your privacy. There are only about five full time neighbors scattered throughout the neighborhood so don't expect to see a lot of people. The treehouse is about 20 miles from Hilo, 23 miles from Pahoa, 12 miles from Keaau and 8 miles from Volcano. Volcano is the closest place for laundry, good restaurants and groceries, though you will pay a little more for the groceries than in Hilo or Keaau. I recommend you stop on your way in from Hilo. When you book I will include a guidebook that has the locations, hours and prices of local restaurants and grocery stores. There is quick access to highway 11 and it is 10 miles from Volcanoes National Park. Numerous opportunities for sightseeing and adventures are within a 40 minute drive of this treehouse paradise and they will be included in my guest guidebook as well. This is the ultimate spot for couples seeking romantic seclusion in the middle of a tropical jungle or individuals who want to escape the world. Unless you feel like hitchhiking, you will definitely need a rental car with high ground clearance to comfortably explore the surrounding areas and access the treehouse. While nothing is 'far' on the big island, everything is just a bit out of reach by foot... except of course for those lovely, yet dense, jungle strolls.

  • Such a special place! It is adorable and very clean. It's like being in another world. Kristie was great with the communication. Lovely!

  • What an amazing, relaxing, inspiring place...we stayed in 3 places during our 10 days on the island and nothing was as impressive as this one. Why? It's the care that went into this place coupled with fit and finish, 20ft in a tree feeling the breeze, hearing the rain and feeling above it all!

    Scott2015-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for one night during our honeymoon and it was completely magical!! Kristie had everything prepared and in order for us. The treehouse was beautiful and very clean. The shower was a little tricky but we figured it out and Kristie had provided a video to help. :) My husband had to adjust his comfort level in being "exposed" to anyone outside but after he adjusted we both felt very secure because it is really in a great space where we were not worried about others seeing us! It was wonderful and we would recommend it to anyone!! We loved the treehouse, the things Kristie provided like the shampoo and conditioner and local treats were amazing and helped to make our stay even that much better. :)

  • The two things that I'm super glad that I did is 1. Rent a jeep, 2. Lived in tree house. The tree house is like an adventure by itself. The house is super cute and well built. I enjoyed every bite of it. Also even I left the tree house I'm still using the golden guide book provided by Kristie.

    Xun2015-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the treehouse! It was just as described. Located down at the end of a little residential road, you see the bamboo gateway, so cute! The feeling is very secluded, and being above the forest is very fun! (This also cuts down on the sound of the coqui frogs) We loved the wrap around deck, and the LED lights on the posts seemed to flicker like candle light at night. The tree house was very clean with water and snacks awaited us on arrival. The bed and pillows were very comfy as well. There were fun books and nicknacks to look at which we loved as well. Wonderfully decorated space makes the treehouse seem much bigger than it is. We love staying off grid and the tree house was perfect. I would recommend to future guests is to leave the shower windows closed to keep down on mosquitoes.

    Shannon2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse was exactly like the photos! So fresh and clean feeling - we particularly loved the rope and pulley system that you use to hoist up your baggage. The deck provides 360 degree views into a magical forest scene! Not difficult to get to (just a few miles off the main road), but still feels extremely secluded. The bathroom shower was another high point - I've never showered in the trees like that before! The only downfall was no access to a fridge - there is a cooler box, but nothing to keep our food cold without driving quite a ways to get ice. But understandable, for the setting and the sustainable objective with this property! We would definitely stay here again - thanks Kristie!

    Emily2016-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning, magical, thoughtfully designed, we could not dream of more. Kristie was kind and provided wonderful local tips. The tree house is as pictured and even more. We were sad to leave, and hope to come again!

    Talia2014-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • The overall experience was out of this world. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a once in a lifetime experience!

*This cabin was featured in the New York Times in January, 2017. * A magical homesteader cabin embedded in 5 acres of unfenced Joshua Tree desert wilderness, 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. Experience peace, quiet, wildlife and STARS—on the grid but off the pavement.
If this cabin is booked on your dates, check out our other two cabins nearby ("Homestead Camp Cabin in Joshua Tree" and "Midcentury Prefab Homesteader Cabin") *** If you would like to use our cabin as a shooting location please get in touch to discuss our rates, otherwise we do not allow commercial or professional shooting of any kind (photo, video, film) during your stay. Thank you in advance! *** The restored cabin, which has been featured in the New York Times 'T' travel magazine, Wilder Quarterly, The Weekender and the book 'Jackrabbit Homestead,' was constructed in 1955 and still has its original green paint. Joshua Tree National Park is a 15 minute drive from the cabin. The Integratron and Giant Rock are also 15 minutes away. The cabin is less than two miles from artist Noah Purifoy's famous sculpture garden site. Two miles in the other direction is Dhamma Dena, teacher Ruth Denison's Vipassana Buddhist center. The always swinging Pappy & Harriet's BBQ and music roadhouse in beautiful Pioneertown is a 30-minute drive. The Lou Harrison House, which hosts occasional devotional, folk and avant garde music events in an intimate setting is less than 10 minutes away. We will be happy to give you directions to each of these unique places (and many others) that we frequent ourselves. The cabin sits on 5 acres, and feels remote, but it's just 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. You will travel a few miles on a secure, hard dirt road to get here. Enjoy the spectacular panoramic sunset and sunrise—as well as a blanket of stars. In the wintertime, you can build a fire too. Sleep comfortably in a queen-sized bed. The renovated interior has a cookware-outfitted kitchen and dining area. There is an outhouse with a dry toilet and roofless shower a few yards from the cabin. Wireless internet is available if you require a connection to the digital world. The cabin is equipped with air conditioning. The cabin is located next to BLM land and a wildlife corridor, which means you will witness these wild animals in their native habitat. The cottontail rabbits, cactus wrens, lizards, desert tortoises, jackrabbits, coyotes, owls and roadrunners (and more!) that make the desert their home make a visit to this serene cabin all the more special. Guests may have freshly prepared organic juices made by local juice cleanse guru Angela de la Agua delivered to the cabin. A menu/pricelist is available upon request. Please note that we have a TW0-NIGHT MINIMUM stay, and a THREE-NIGHT MINIMUM FOR HOLIDAY WEEKENDS. This requirement allows us to keep our rates low, so that the greatest number of folks get a chance to experience being here in the unfenced desert, under the Milky Way. We donate 2.5% of our proceeds to the Mojave Desert Land Trust, an excellent local non-profit organization devoted to protecting the Mojave Desert ecosystem and its scenic and cultural resource values.
  • Excellent cabin - beautiful location, well-equipped kitchen, friendly hosts. A perfect home-base for our local excursions - horseback riding and several great National Park hikes. The setting is very quiet, private and relaxing.

    Florian2013-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • this was my husband and i's first trip to joshua tree, and the homesteader cabin was the PERFECT place for us to stay. the cabin is tucked away and everything that the pictures show. we thoroughly enjoyed the front porch--we ate dinner there, where we listened to the night sounds, and also spent a slow morning on the front porch enjoying the morning sun, coffee AND angela's amazing desert greens juice. jay met us when we arrived and was super friendly and helpful--showing us around and giving us a glimpse into his life there. i would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for some desert solace, and those with an artistic bent will surely be inspired and refreshed by the beauty surrounding. you will love it!!

  • Stephanie and Jay were great hosts. They were responsive and met us when we arrived to explain the particulars of the place we were staying and the surrounding area. The cabin and outdoor toilet/shower were clean and well-maintained. It was wonderful to stay here and I hope I come back one day. The location is also great — only about a 15-minute drive from the park, and the area around the cabin itself is stunningly beautiful and silent.

Be surrounded by nature and yet have all the comforts of home. Be our guest in this cozy log cabin surrounded by tall pines and mountains, and yet still a short drive to Lake Tahoe and the casinos.
Cozy cabin nestled in South Lake Tahoe perfect for the relaxing or adventure filled getaway. This rustic charmer has evolved over the last 10 years to bring you and your family a warm and comfortable stay. At 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, the Lake Tahoe Chalet is perfect for families of up to 8 people. We do consider the family dog on a case-by-case basis, please ask, and the backyard is fully fenced.
The Lake Tahoe Chalet is about six miles from Stateline and the Lake, or a short 10 minute drive. It's located in a quiet neighborhood with no one across the street, with views of mountains and tall trees. There's a large meadow and the Truckee River just a short walk away. The cabin is located in a quiet family neighborhood so PLEASE respect our neighbors' peace and quiet and keep the noise down after 10PM. Also, no parties or groups exceeding 8 are allowed and may even result in immediate eviction and/or loss of deposit.
  • El lugar es bonito. Faltan detalles de limpieza, pero en general bien.

    Ivan2018-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Chalet is a beautiful home! The kitchen area is simply spectactular. We cooked breakfast twice before heading out to the lake. Ryan and Darnie were super responsive and made us feel at home before even getting there. We would definitely recommend this location to anyone who wants to stay outside of the hotel/casino scene.

    Amanda2016-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great home away from home. Clean and comfortable. Easy to find and minutes from town.

    Michael2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is cozy and comfortable! The huge dining table and benches inside, as well as the one on the porch are a great bonus for a group. The hosts are terrific about communication, responding to any questions via text/email promptly. The house was equipped with everything we needed, such as dishes, silverware, towels, etc. Lots of movies and games were there as well! Our family had a great experience! Raleys is 5 minutes away. The beach was about 10 minutes away.

    Miryt2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Ryan & Darnie's place. It was so charming, clean, spacious, and in such a great location. The amenities were great too. They were also really nice & responsive hosts... checking in on us when we arrived to make sure everything was ok. My family (6 of us) loved it! We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Tahoe!

    Jill2017-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • Our group was very pleased to stay at this lovely chalet. Ryan & Darnie communicated well with us throughout the booking and stay and provided us with helpful tips. The chalet is up-to-date, comfortable and clean. The kitchen was well equipped and made our meal preparation and cleanup easy. The main room was warm and cosy and made us feel right at home. Temperature controls worked well as we needed the furnace a bit in the morning chill. The book on hiking trails came in handy. If you choose you can stay connected via wifi, TV and online viewing options. Various South Lake Tahoe hiking, sightseeing and eating destinations are a short drive away. All in all we were quite pleased and would definitely return again!

    Michael2016-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very nice location. Very convenient to lake/ snow/ activities. This is my second time coming to this place and enjoyed it both times. The unfortunate part was to have had some issues both times we went with the place not being ready but Ryan was very quick to respond to our needs and made a great effort to make up for it which we appreciated very much. This will not prevent us from going again since the rest of our trip both times were great. Have not went during summer time but during winter it's just beautiful. Thank you again for letting us stay and make more memories.

The pool house is a fantastic base to explore LA as we did or even if you just want somewhere to chill for a few days. The pool and views are stunning! We will definitely be back!

  • It was beautiful, fwlt like home away from home. Loved that they provided so much for tennants. Shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, body wash, beach towels, a few snacks, and drinks. It was so nice not to have to pack all of that. If i didn't read the reviews I would have missed those details!! But loved it and will definitely stay there again.

  • Très belle maison plutôt bien situé ! Pas très loin de Hollywood et du centre ville. Hôte super sympa et très accueillant. Quartier calme et belle piscine

  • Everything was perfect. Amazing views. Really liked private parking. House was really nice, had everything we needed. Had a really nice private yard with bbq for ourselves. Owners were friendly and helpful.

  • I hesitate to write a review of this slice of paradise, because I want it all to myself! If I had the money, I would buy the property. A truly incredible experience here. Located a mere 15 - 20 minutes from downtown, but feeling quite cozy and secluded in the hills, this pool house comes with a secluded, private back yard with chairs, a couch, a dining table, and a grill (which we used nightly). Neighbors are nearby, but with the tree-lined fences, you will not see nor hear them. It's in a residential area, but feels like a resort. The pool has a stone texture bottom to it that's unique and lovely. We came in February, so the water was never warm enough to swim in, but the hot tub warms up in 30 minutes, and we were in that nightly! Wonderful view of the stars from that hot tub. Amazing view of the hills. Everything is incredibly clean, and the choice of the furnishings in the Asian-styled pool house were elegant and smart. We ran out of the propane in the grill, and the owners had a replacement for us in 10 minutes. I went with my lady for her Birthday / Valentines week celebration, and this was a perfect romantic spot. Great for either couples or families. There's no reason to ever get a hotel downtown with this place so near.

  • The house was as beautiful as the pics and description. The location is perfect and easy to get to Downtown LA, Beverly Hills, Melrose, etc. Alex and Dennis were great hosts. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Muy buena ubicación. Brenda es súper amable y siempre está pendiente de lo que necesitas. Todo está limpio y bien puesto.

  • Excellent host, located well for public transport as well as Haigh, Mission, and Castro, and a great apartment - would highly recommend!

  • Brenda is amazing. She goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable and make your trip to SF the best it can be! The bedroom is adorable and cozy, and I felt immediately at home. The place itself is also a gem... the kitchen in the morning is such a lovely spot! The neighbourhood is perfect... close to so many adorable little restaurants and cafes (Cafe Sophie became my home away from home), funky neighbourhoods (Castro, Mission), and super close to the Muni, busses and not too far from the BART. I spent three weeks with Brenda and I could not have chosen a better host to have my first Airb'nb experience with! A couple of notes: I am allergic to cats, but Brenda's place is so clean and airy that I never once had a reaction. I also fell in love with Mumu, the world's sweetest cat, and Boo, the sprightly little rescue pup. Finally, I was there to work (which wasn't always easy in such a fun neighbourhood and city) and my desk space and WIFI made my room at Brenda's into the perfect little office. I would encourage you to book with Brenda without hesitation, she'll help make your SF experience the best it can be!

  • This is my first AirBnB experience and it was a dream. Brenda is lovely and very welcoming. I also had the sweetest pleasure of meeting Boo the dog and Moo the cat. Lovely fur babies I have to say. Brenda is very accommodating and provided a lovely place during my stay. I felt really comfortable staying with her since I traveled to "The City" on my own. Great talks! I will come back and stay here next time. Perfectly located Castro- thank you for giving me a home away from home. Highly recommend!

  • Absolutely fantastic stay -- Brenda is an amazing host, generous, and very easy to talk to. The art-filled apartment is beautiful, quiet, and steps away from the heart of Mission and Castro areas. The Muni is also just a stone's throw away. I couldn't have had a more pleasant time in San Francisco.

  • I really enjoyed my stay at Brenda's. The room was small, but clean and charming. The apartment was lovely and Brenda was helpful and informative. I would stay there again and the location really is perfect.

  • Our stay at the pond house was more delightful than our anticipated expectation, which doesn't happen often and it was a much needed retreat even if only for one night. The Pondhouse is a beautiful and cozy place, especially in the rain! Thank you Gayle, Peter and Charlie for your warm hospitality. We look forward to coming back.

    Amanda2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend at Gayle and Peter's pond house. Despite arriving later than expected, they gracefully accommodated our change in schedule. Besides being excellent hosts, Gayle and Peter's pondhouse was absolutely stunning - an oasis 5 minutes from the main house that felt worlds away. We enjoyed a cookout under the stars, a restful night sleeping candlelight to the sound of cicadas, and great hikes and apple picking in the local area. Couldn't recommend the stay highly enough - thank you, Gayle and Peter!

    Daniel2014-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • I had been eyeing the pondhouse for some time and finally booked it for a weekend getaway with my husband, two daughters and dog. I am so glad we finally visited. It was such a perfect getaway weekend in every way. The pondhouse and the land around it is gorgeous. I could not stop taking pictures. If you like staying in unique places and love nature, it doesn't get better than this. Gayle, Peter and their daughter Sonya were the ideal hosts-very welcoming, helpful and responsive. We had a ball visiting the nearby villages, hiking and swimming. This area of MA is quite charming! We hope to be back soon and we will definitely stay at the pondhouse again soon.

    Kristen2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • The pond house was a very special experience: in the woods right in the middle of nowhere and heavenly calm - except for nocturnal concerts of frog voices. No phone, no Internet - and the kids loved it! If nothing else this was owed to Charly, Gayle's incredibly charming dog which even I as a non-dog-person fell for. By the way, I'm a non-camping-person either. But I thoroughly enjoyed my outdoor experience - particularly being warm in a cosy bed and waking up in the morning surrounded by light green and sunshine. As to the more logistic side of our stay: The bathroom was very nice and clean and we had everything we needed to be comfortable - even headlamps and bug repellent were provided. Finally, Gayle was a very welcoming and pleasant host. My kids have already decided to be back when the new house in the woods is finished.

    Sabine2015-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • My dog and I had the most wonderful, peaceful and relaxed few days. The cabin is exactly as it appears in the photos - gorgeous - and the hosts, Gayle and Peter were the most enjoyable, respectful, open and kind hosts - there if you needed anything, but ensured full privacy too. It was a needed respite from the city a truly gorgeous experience.

    Andrea2015-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Unique experience. Everything as described on her page. Great weekend getaway from the city to the nature. Very dog friendly. Charlie was a good host as well.

    Junsoo2015-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very beautiful and unique experience! We arrived at a rainy and cold night, but the hot water, lots of blankets and comforters helped us get through the night! We had two great BBQ and get warm from the fire pit. Overall, we get used to sleep in the nature which is amazing.

    Yuqing2018-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Gayle & Peter were the best hosts - kind and helpful. The pond house is an incredible getaway. Peaceful, beautiful, Comfortable, and unique. We are rebooking October of next year. The foliage was breathtaking! Thank you so much!

Update: Florence had no effect on Charleston or any of our 6 rental boats. Welcome aboard Pirate's Life! Most questions can be answered in our FAQ found below. Lots of room to move around with a queen size bed in the Captain's Quarters (Bedroom) and a twin bed in the living room that's a day bed. FAQ: Q: Location? A: Mid-Peninsula Downtown Charleston which is roughly 1.5 - 2 miles to the heart of the historic district. A five minute / $6 Uber away or take the bikes! The boats are located downtown in a private marina where our 5-6 boats are slipped & only shared with a large mega-yacht that rents the outside slippage 6 months out of the year. We rent this slippage from Seabreeze Dry Stack Marina (49 Immigration Street, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) This accommodation is for people looking for peace and tranquility as the setting of the marina is quiet and secluded. You'll have a stunning view of Charleston Harbor and the Ravenel Bridge. Q: How can I see all of your boats for rent? A: Click on our Airbnb profile (the round photo) & scroll all the way to the bottom below the aggregated reviews (on Mobile) or look to the left (on Desktop). You’ll see all of our listings - or check them out by clicking the link below: Listing Page: https://www.airbnb.com/users/1918595/listings Q: 1 Night Reservations? A: You can instant book a 1 night rental if it’s the same day as your reservation OR if you see on our calendar that your date fills a 1 night gap. We kindly ask do not instant book for 1 night reservations if your desired date doesn’t fit that criteria - especially on the weekend. We handle 1 night reservations on a case-by-case basis depending on availability but can almost always make it work. We will respond to an inquiry within minutes most times, most of the time immediately. Q: Is it comfortable? A: VERY! Our boats are designed with live-aboard / stay-aboard in mind with all the creature comforts of home. Fully stocked kitchens, premium furnishings, updated HVAC, TV, Keurig coffee makers… etc. Q: Any restaurants close by? A: TONS! Some of Charleston’s best are within a mile of the marina. Q: How to book: A: If you don’t have any questions after reading over the FAQ below then simple instant book. If you send an inquiry we’ll respond promptly, if not immediately. Q: Why is the price so different for my dates? A: Airbnb automatically sets our prices based on demand & seasonality. If you don’t search with exact dates Airbnb shows the lowest price throughout the season. Prices range from $99 per night for weekday day-of bookings in January all the way to $499 per night for weekends during peak season summer and everywhere in-between. Q: Bathroom… explain! A: The boat is equipped with an apartment sized (12 gallon) water heater ensuring you get hot water throughout the boat. You'll always have enough hot water to enjoy a 10 - 15 minute shower. The boat has a full sized marine toilet that is easy to use as long as you follow our simple instructions. Q: Heat? Air Conditioning? A: Our boats are equipped with BOTH ample Heat & Air Conditioning. No matter the time of year you can be assured that you will be staying in a climate controlled & comfortable environment. Q: Can we take the boats out & drive them? A: No. We don’t carry any insurance for bareboat charters but we do offer captained Charters on specific boats which are really fun! Charters include sightseeing in Downtown harbor, sunset cruises, full hay & ½ day cruises, special moments like engagements, or anything else you can think of. All charter requests are handled via inquiry & paid through Airbnb as part of your stay. Q: Can I check-in earlier than 4 or Checkout later than 10? A: We will do our best. Most days there’s someone checking in the same day there’s a checkout but we try & go above and beyond if this is requested. Q: Can we fish from the dock or boats? A: Absolutely! We ask that you fish either from the side or front of the vessel & stay clear of the props so your line doesn’t get prop/shaft wrapped. Fishing from the dock is also allowed as long as you mind the props of the vessels. You can easily get a fishing license from the DNR online. We operate on the honor system & don’t check for licenses but ask that you support the local DNR & pay the small fee to make it legal. We don’t supply fishing equipment & keep in mind there are no tackle shops in Downtown Charleston. Shrimp from the local Q: What to expect that's different than a hotel? A: It's a boat, it is a unique FUN experience. There may be noises and smells that you'd expect from a boat. Pumps, motors, ocean water, etc. Every boat is broken the day it hits the water, especially salt water. We take great care of our fleet but we expect guests to tell us if anything isn’t working properly & we will PROMPTLY respond & repair. Q: Waves? A: The marina has a sea wall which dilutes any waves. We are also lucky enough to be tucked behind Drum Island at the base of the Ravenel Bridge. which dilutes almost all the waves from the harbor. There is still a small amount of wave action and you'll feel a slight rock from time-to-time, mostly from boats passing by who don’t respect the no wake zone (feel free to yell at them & shake your first while doing so). If there's a bad storm or the wave action gets to a point that your stay is no longer enjoyable, we will do our best (no guarantees) to work out alternative accommodations for you as we have multiple condos Downtown for landlubbers. Your comfort is our top priority. 99% of the time the marina is almost totally flat and calm. We also keep dramamine on the dock incase anyone experiences sea sickness. Q: Will you reduce your price? A: No(ISH)... Maybe, but unlikely. Don’t expect a price reduction unless it’s the slow season & you’re messaging about days within 1-4 days of check-in or you’re looking for a long-term stay in the off season (see next “Q”). If you message us with a booking that somewhat fits the criteria above & tell us a budget we can try & work with you on one of our 6 boats. “Will you reduce the price of a weekend booking a month away” will always be a “no”. Q: Do you do long-term or monthly rentals? A: We have done long term rentals in the past. From March 1 - October 30 the boats are rented at a 90% occupancy rate so the monthly rate is only slightly reduced compared to the daily rate (around 20%). From November through February we’re much more flexible depending on length of stay & which vessel you’re interested in. It helps us to know your budget and we can tell you if we have anything that could work. Q: Smoking? A: On the outside only & please be responsible. Kindly don’t light the boat on fire. Q: Do you allow pets? A: You bet! We ask that dogs not be puppies, don’t scratch at doors, and don’t bark incessantly while you’re away. The boats are close together & a non-stop barking dog isn’t appreciated. We DEEP clean the boats after pets stay aboard due to future guests’ possible allergies so a $75 pet fee is applied for those who travel with pets. If you have a service dog & try to circumvent the pet fee be prepared to present FULL documentation. Q: Can we hold events or parties? A: No. This is a place to relax. We ask that there be no events or parties on the boats so the other guests can enjoy their stay. Q: You charge extra for more than 2 adults, do my kids count? A: Any child over the age of 13 is considered an adult & needs to be represented in the booking inquiry as an additional guest. Q: Is the marina safe? A: VERY. We have 24/7 surveillance & in the 3 years we’ve been here we’ve never had any sort of issue. We share an entrance with the port authority which has a 24/7 guarded gate. You turn into the marina before the guarded gate but it scares off any would-be pests. The parking lot & dock is well lit & the marina is right off East Bay which is one of the main roads in Downtown Charleston. All boats lock from inside & you can padlock the door when you leave if you wish to lock up your belongings. The marina is only us & we’re here daily looking over the fleet. Q: Handicap accessible? A: No. You'll need to get on the boat which requires a 1-2' step and there are steps on the boat. The deck stairs are steep and you'll need to be sure footed. Q: Parking? A: Yes, you can park your car. Since it’s a small private marina the walk to the parking lot from the boat is only roughly (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) yards. Q: Can I trailer my small boat & side-tie it to the boat I rented? A: You can bring your boat but it must be arranged with the marina & there’s nowhere to park a trailer. There’s also nowhere close by to slip the boat so do your research on boat landings. The marina will charge you small fee (roughly $40 - $60 nightly) to wet-slip the boat. Q: Space & Comfort? A: You'll find the layout of the boat extremely spacious and comfortable. The bed is a Queen (ish) size. Queen with slight modifications to fit the space. The shower is tall and comfortable for anyone 6’4” & under. Q: I have a non-profit, will you donate a free stay to my gala? A: I’m sure your cause is worthy, but we get this request far too often so we must decline. Q: I’m a blogger / photographer / ninja trainer… will you barter? A: No. Please don’t ask. We don’t pay our slip rent with your blog posts. Q: Will you partner with my local company or buy my advertising? A: We get penalized through Airbnb if we don’t respond to all inquiries which means we must respond to your spam. You won’t like our message so don’t send it. Q: Will this be the best vacation I’ve ever had and should I book now? A: Without a doubt.
Extremely safe and private marina in downtown Charleston. The entrance to the marina is shared with the Port Authority which has a 24/7 guard. There is a train which blocks the road to the marina leading into the port authority but it only comes 1-2X per day. Sometimes it can block the roadway for up to 20 minutes but that is infrequent.
  • The houseboat was AMAZING! What a perfect way to stay in Charleston, so much more memorable than a hotel. It was bigger than we expected, and comfortable for someone who had never slept on a boat before! Had everything we needed, even bikes available which we took advantage of one day! Very happy I chose to stay in Chuck's boat!

  • Beautiful boat which made a lovely change from a hotel and it was so great watching the sun rise on the top deck. Peaceful area with a great view of the bridge. We had breakfast at Mercantile & Mash (about 5mins down the road) which was fantastic and the staff were lovely so we highly recommend! Fab stay in Charleston :)

    Rebecca2016-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely a great spot and a wonderful long weekend. For us the weather was such that we couldn't spend time on the deck, but the space heaters made for cozy spaces below.

    Joseph2015-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and time aboard the boat. We would definitely do it again. Justin was an extremely friendly and responsive host. The marina was quiet and private with lots to look at from the bridge to wildlife, especially waterfowl. Having our rental car and the marina location made it easy to get around and take day trips to Folly Beach and Isle of Palms and Patriots Point, and we used the bicycles one evening for a ride across the bridge. While we had plenty of dine-out plans, having the grill to cook two dinners and eating breakfast on board was wonderful and easily accomplished, plus the setting of the marina made eating outside a pleasant and romantic experience. One helpful tip is there is a train whose tracks you have to cross to leave the marina. Not a noise issue, but we were delayed one evening to a dinner reservation. It was around 6pm-7pm and seemed to happen somewhat regularly, just be careful when you are leaving or making reservations. Not sure if there is a place you can find their schedule or if Justin could provide insight on their timing.

  • Staying on the boat completed the Charleston experience! It was so beautiful, comfortable, and clean! I stayed during the boat race week, so I was able to watch that from the deck. The soft rocking of the boat put me to sleep so easily and I'm pretty sure it was the best sleep I have ever had!!! I will stay here again when I go to Charleston.

    Chantell2015-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Justin and Shauna were very accomodaring. The houseboat was clean and very well decorated. My wife and I loved it. The marina is super private. There isn't much within walking distance, but Uber worked well for us.

    Timothy2015-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • The boat was charming and relaxing. Justin & Savannah were incredibly helpful and we loved every minute of our stay. Perfect for a weekend getaway or time in the city. While the boat is close to the downtown, keep in mind that it's not an easy or practical walk to town. Only a 4 min. car ride though!

    Sarah2016-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing experience! Would definitely stay here again. The boat was calming, relaxing, quaint, comfortable, quiet, peaceful - yet adventurous, a fun alternative to typical hotel rooms. We had no trouble finding the place, and really appreciated having bikes available to use (that was huge). It was easy to bike into town for food, etc., or call an Uber for going out at night. Hosts were very quick to respond with any questions we had.

  • It's hard to put into words how magical our stay at the Bali Cottage was. In a nutshell, we would gladly move there and never go home! First of all, the cottage itself is breathtaking. The indoor/outdoor living feel is incredible, the furnishings are comfortable and relaxed yet totally unique and authentic (400+ year-old Balinese carved wooden panels!), and the porch and garden are like something out of a dream. Karen and Ron are also the best hosts you could ask for. Not only are they incredibly generous with their time, advice, and spirit of Aloha, they're also a blast to hang out with. Ron made us the most beautiful welcome bouquet, brought us an impromptu bottle of sparkling wine to enjoy partway through our trip, and even lent us his sea kayak so that we could go snorkelling in Kealakekua Bay (best snorkelling we've ever done!). This place will forever hold a very special place in our hearts. We miss it (and Ron, and Karen, and the geckos!) every day!

    Amanda2012-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • You couldn't ask for nicer folks. The best thing about staying here was that it is one block to a lovely grassy park with snorkel beach. We were given produce from the community garden there and enjoyed cooking it in the outdoor kitchen. We ate and hung out in the deck and yard area a lot. It was very nice to be in this rural setting.

    Carol2013-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • Karen is an amazing host! Even through we came to stay during a very busy time for her (Ironman season!) she was completely on top of making sure we were well taken care of and had everything we needed. She checked in with me a few days before we were set to arrive to make sure we knew where we were going and gave easy to follow directions. The cottage itself is unbelievable. Its a beautiful luxurious dream that feels tucked away in its own little oasis while still being just steps from the bay. Seriously... great snorkeling and dolphins are practically at your doorstep. Oh, and the cat is great company if you want to hang with him.

    Casey2015-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a special place. If you love seclusion, walking to great beaches for postcard perfect sunsets, and a truly unique experience, Karen and Ron have the perfect place. The cottage is cozy and filled with great bali details, and an amazing surfboard collection. You have lots of open air, so you will share your space with gecko's and a few small spiders - nothing to worry over. You also get a beautiful garden and the best cat ever as your house host. Purry loves guests and is very affectionate and loving. You will awake to birds singing, and fall asleep to waves crashing. The house has beach chairs, towels, and snorkel gear to borrow, a great kitchen to cook in, and a terrific living and sleeping space. I've traveled the world and this was an experience I look forward to repeating. Aloha!

  • Well what can i say what a unique and wonderful place, nothing like the pics so much more, so many wierd and wonderful artefacts dotted around the more you look , more appear . Loved it made our Hawaiian adventure to be honest. And 32 degrees but being so coverd was very comfortable, fan was a nice touch too, beautiful, quirky, unique, fairytail, could go on. Bugs.. your in a jungle live with it and DONT leave food out outside otherwise your sharing. Aloha Karen X

    Phil2017-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Karen's unique home/cottage was a memorable and wonderful experience for us. We couldn't have asked for a warmer welcome. A big plus for us was being literally steps away from the beach with perfect snorkeling conditions (we spotted a sea turtle and that really made our day)!

    Julia2016-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is well reviewed, so I'll try not to add much more fluff other than reiterate that this place is in fact a gem. Some thoughts: 1) It's basically a museum. Every square inch of the place is interesting. I was so baffled that I had to ask Karen how they even did it. One of the Thai doorways alone cost $1600, she said. 2) I've been blessed to stay in a few places like this that I would say without a doubt should be considered part of Airbnb's elite, "best of" lists. According to Karen it was featured in a top 10 list for couples (worldwide). Makes sense. Places like this are the reason Airbnb is awesome. Staying here is an opportunity that you would never have found otherwise. 3) The outdoor shower is amazing. Best showers I've ever taken (day or night). That all said, this isn't a great place for light sleepers. The bed mattress is a bit hard and uneven, not sure what material but not foam. Also there's a *lot* of creaking at night, I assume due to the winds picking up. During the day there wasn't a peep. Also, spiders. Lots of spiders.

    Benjamin2013-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • To be honest, I wasn’t pleased with our stay at the Bali Cottage. We booked in July when we got a great deal on a flight, and I didn’t see any reviews about the noise or mosquitoes. The photos must be dated because the yard is unkempt, and the cottage has spots of gecko poop on the lamps and such. There are large spiders hanging above the shower, and the mat you stand on while showering has holes in it that hurt your feet. At night, the creakiness of the tree that goes through the cottage is very loud even with earplugs in. There are little vases with flowers in them, but there are clearly mosquito eggs/larvae in them. Also there is a pond with standing water that I’m sure aids in the production of the tiny mosquitoes. This was a particular pain for me since I am allergic to mosquito bites. Despite using bugspray with DEET, I got several bites. The net around the bed helps keep the mosquitoes away, but I still managed to get bites from something on my torso. They definitely weren’t mosquito bites since I didn’t get the usual allergic reaction to them. The bay is quite nice, but there is no sandy beach nearby. It is a great spot to watch the sunset. We were not warned of a monthly tsunami alarm test, so when it went off on December 2 we panicked. After googling the alarm, we found that it was a test, but also found out that this area was washed out by the 2011 tsunami. In fact, this area was the hardest hit in Hawaii with 7 homes lost. The hosts were kind and gracious, but very absent, which I’m sure is fine for most people. Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again and neither would my fiancé.

Romantic hideaway! This property has the lush beauty and privacy of Hana, without the drive! Only 15-20 minutes to the airport, 10 minutes to beaches, 2 minutes to restaurants and shops...on a private gated property with organic nursery. BEAUTIFUL!
This place is a gem! SO CUTE! A recently remodeled 1930's cottage....that Jimi Hendrix stayed in when he was on Maui in 1970 to film Rainbow Bridge. Beautiful, quiet...REAL Maui! Recently remodeled, very cute! It is lined with cedar on the inside so it smells delightful when you walk in.... The Gingerbread House is a studio cottage with a kitchenette (toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker, counter-top burners, full sized fridge) and spacious bathroom with a large custom-built, tiled shower.. It has high cathedral ceilings with a huge window that looks out on beautiful lush greenery. It is on a gated property. There is wireless Internet in the cottage, but in the event it isn't working, there is wireless available to you in other locations on the property. We have gotten the internet FIXED since the reviews were written so it is WORKING IN THE GINGERBREAD HOUSE AGAIN! (as of 1/16/17) It has a queen sized bed, and an outdoor patio under the spectacular tree canopy. The property is on 4.5 acres of lush beauty with a seasonal stream, an organic veggie start farm, fruit trees galore (help yourself when in season....) papaya, banana, lilikoi (passion fruit), coffee, plantains, oranges, mac nuts, avocado, lychee, mango, guava, grapefruit, tangerines, lemons, coconuts, noni....and you also have access to an additional 4 acres on the adjacent property—which is home of The Sacred Garden—beautiful!. WE HAVE NOT INCLUDED the 14.41% Hawaii Transient Accommodations Tax because you would have to pay the airbnb fee on that so to save you their fee WE WILL SEND YOU A SEPARATE INVOICE as a resolution request through Airbnb for the additional fee. (They do not add extra fees to the resolution requests.) PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS STATE LAW THAT WE ADD THE TAX...Sorry! We have a 3 night minimum however we will book for 1-2 nights if the nights are available between other bookings so feel free to check with us. We have a 5 night minimum during Holiday periods like Christmas. We are in an awesome location just 20 minutes from the airport and Costco, and only 2 miles to Makawao town restaurants and shops, 7 minutes to Paia, 5 minutes to Haiku town. 50 Minutes to Haleakala National Park entrance. We also have a house on the property that is a vacation rental as well so if you need more space for a larger gathering let me know! I offer retreat services—relationship coaching, personal and spiritual growth, guided labyrinth walks and work with Maui's best practitioners so if you want more than a vacation, let me know! We can help you with everything from Massage, to intuitive readings! I also perform weddings so if you are thinking of getting married while you are on Maui....I can also help you with that! This rental is on the property adjacent to The Sacred Garden which has two walking labyrinths, water lily ponds, meditation gardens, and more ...and is free and open to the public daily. We have caterers available in needed. The elevation is about 1000 feet which is PERFECT on Maui! We are about 10 degrees cooler than sea level which makes for absolutely comfortable days (70-80 degrees) and GREAT temps for sleeping (usually in the 60's). This is the MAXIMUM elevation you can stay and still go scuba diving on Maui. Speaking of diving...we are avid divers and can assist you booking Scuba Diving with the best dive operation on Maui. You will definitely want a rental car....there is a bus stop a mile or two away but not ideal....and bikes are a little hazardous as these are hilly, windy, narrow roads. We have a HUGE friendly dog on the property... he is great...but be forewarned he is BIG! (180 pounds)...not a barker, super sweet. We also have 4 cats on the property but no animals are inside the cottage. There are wild chickens and roosters and cows on the property across the stream. Please keep in mind that this is a jungle environment and it is nearly impossible to keep all insects out of any accommodation in Hawaii unless we poison the place. If you are phobic of insects, the jungle will not be your best bet. Gecko lizards are also common inside the houses here.
This area is a magical well kept secret on Maui. We are located at the dividing line between the wet side and the dry side, which means we get enough rain to stay green, and enough sun to stay sane! We get rainbows almost daily and are the perfect temperature (60's at night, 70's-80's in the day).
  • We enjoyed our stay in the ginger bread house very much. All was clean and well equipped. As we travelled with our two sons it was a bit too small. But the place is recommended for two so that was our own "risk". The garden is gorgeous and very peaceful. We didn't have the chance to talk to Eve that much but she was very nice and communication via airbnb was fine.

    Christina2014-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is really a great place, hidden in the jungle. Description is very accurate, everything you can dream of is there in the house for you to use (even beach towels and boogieboards !!), all in perfect condition. Eve and Steve are so great people ! Unfortunately, we did not see them much because of a busy schedule on our side. Some things to note: in the gardens more than one rooster with their hens roam, and these have a tendency to call out even in the middle of the night with the moonlight .. if you need complete quietness, this might not be your place. Also note it's (civilized) jungle, so you might see some critters ! We saw a huge frog in front of the patio door, a large centipede (inside the house at the door, we brought it back out where it belongs), some Mongoose jump around the cottage and surf on the roof in the night. Great smell of cedar wood in the house, by the way ! We really liked all this, but some city-zens might not be ready for it. Again, it's a GREAT place, great people, i can highly recommend to stay with Eve and Steve if you look for a place in Makawao.

    Johannes2016-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • When we first arrived in Maui- I had called Eve to let her know that we were finally there.. She was actually out of the state, but was 100% helpful and very sweet- she answered my calls and my texts right away! We were greeted by Steve and Bodie when we first arrived in Makawao! Super friendly and extremely helpful with everything, gave us insight on nearby places to eat and things to do. The cottage and the property are beyond beautiful! We made friends with Bodie and all the chickens :) The cottage is in an amazing location and we got to experience a lot while we were there. It was a short drive to the Town of Makawao and Pa'ia (2 of the 3 towns that we absolutely LOVED! Hana is the 3rd :D) We went ziplining, hiking, saw the Sunrise and biked down Haleakala, went to the beach and just enjoyed Upcountry! After all of those adventures it was nice to kick back and relax at the cottage :) I already miss it..

  • The gingerbread house was really cool. Walking around the property was awesome, lots of fresh fruit trees, animals and gorgeous scenery. Eve was super personable and had so much great info to share. The property was quiet and tranquil. We loved our stay at the gingerbread house.

  • We absolutely LOVED our stay here! The carriage house was so cute, and it was exactly what we needed for our trip. The location was perfect, and it had plenty of options for walking and short Uber rides. We will for sure be coming back and staying again!

  • This carriage house was wonderful. The hosts have a great eye for design and the renovations done to the building are beautiful. The space feels like your own private hideaway, and the garden is a definite highlight. Everything was very clean with lots of little extras to make us feel welcome. The location is perfect for seeing the sights of Denver with many great restaurants close by. This carriage house is ideal for a couple.

  • The carriage house was perfect for my husband and I. It was charming and perfectly decorated. It had everything to make it feel like home. And the location was great. Less than 10 minutes to all the cool restaurants and bars. We even drove out of the city for some nature. We will return and I’ve already told several people to stay there when in Denver.

    Devondra2018-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • This may have been my favorite Airbnb stay to date. Mick’s Carriage House & gorgeous property were the perfect landing for our Denver getaway. The home was ideal for me and my husband. A++ for amenities. If we had shown up with only our clothes, we still would have been set. Walking distance to public transit ✔️ Rad, thoughtfully designed space ✔️ Beautiful garden setting ✔️ Hospitality ✔️ Headache-free access ✔️ Comfortable, at-home vibe ✔️ We can’t wait to come back!

Perry has been working on his roadside attraction / museum / gallery / magic spot / mosaic house since it began in 2000. 11 years later, 800 sqft were added, and approximately 2500 sqft of mosaic applied and grouted. Glass fused baubles, hand made ceramics and a magical desert. This desert homestead turned beacon of love vision is waiting to reach the stars. The Tile House sits in the middle of the vast and open desert. You need not walk two feet to be a part of the wilderness, now it is up to you to look around both macro and micro and see what you can see here. Jack rabbits, cottontails, ravens, scorpions, desert iguana, snakes, Gambel's quail, lesser night hawks, owls, coyotes, roadrunners, sphinx moths, and kangaroo rats, flash floods, dust devils, lightning storms, sunsets, summer rains, empty roads, wildflowers, and cacti are some of the things you might happen to see. Walk gently in nature. At night, absorb the clear starry skids, and August and November meteor showers. Remember, there are rusty bits and broken tiles in the sand. This is a work in progress. Be careful and don't walk about barefoot. You have been warned. Not recommended for children, unless prior arrangements and agreements are made. You are ironically completely alone in the middle of nowhere and the center of the universe.
  • Perry's place is a museum -- Something to see and experience. Perry couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating.

  • Unbelievable experience. I absolutely loved the sense of freedom Perry's tile house/art inspires when you stay there. Will definitely hope to be back again soon! Only wish was that I had stayed longer!! Thank you for the inspiration Perry!

  • Perry's magical home once again provided me and my family a healing experience. Thank you Perry for your attentive communication and creating such a welcoming house.

  • Fun, quirky, comfortable, and so much fun to stay in the Tile House! Perry is a wonderful host and communication was fast and easy. I highly recommend spending some time here. And exploring the area! Joshua Tree NP and The Integratron sound bath are two things you should check out in the area!!

  • Don't believe the overly-commercial hype of Disney's self-proclamation as the happiest place on earth.... THIS is the happiest place on earth! Why stay at a generic hotel when there are gems like this out there? THANKS for enriching my life experience AirBnB & Perry!

    Chris2013-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • The tile house was above and beyond our expectations. We were looking to get away- and the house is totally out there, silent and far from other houses and people. The inside is fun, beautiful and comfortable and we loved the living room. The pellet stove kept us warm all night and was one of the many details Perry has provided for comfort and casual luxury. The shower was incredible. The hot tub was more than we imagined- right next to the house, so hot, under the stars. The sunrise and sunset were incredible! We were so far away from people, yet 15mins to Joshua tree and 1.5hrs to the Mojave preserve with is a remarkable place we explored. We can't recommend the Tile house enough just for itself as well as the nearby nature that runs up to the front door. Our stay was an intensely relaxing and restorative experience Totally blissed out. Annie and Jonathan

  • Greatest place we have ever been to. Comfortably furnisched, great breakfast, great nature, lovely people.

  • We had a great experience at the yurt! Everything was clean, well organized, and just as presented in the listing. The hosts were very nice and generously showed us around the property after checkout. They even let us picnic on the porch and use the restroom, ice, etc., and gave us detailed directions for a nearby hike when we arrived a couple of hours before check-in time. What a unique little adventure for my family -- we'd love to come again soon!

    Maggie2014-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had another wonderful stay at the yurt! The yurt was clean, organized, and we immediately felt calm and relaxed. The farm tour was awesome- we learned so much! We can't wait to come back, hoping for late summer!

  • Whitt and Martha are incredible hosts. This was our second visit to Cair Paravel farm, and we plan to visit again. We stayed in the Yurt (again). We arrived late and Whitt and Martha left the lights on and cookies on the table. (!) On our first day, Martha was kind enough to chat with us about her expansive organic garden. It was a learning opportunity, seeing how she dealt with challenging temperatures, how she worked with organic methods to deter pests, including incorporating some of the farm's birds, and really appreciating her love for her plants. We also bought a dozen eggs on our first day. We'd recommend other guests arrange to buy eggs or other farm products before arrival. (We had been busy with work and hadn't planned ahead.) On the first day, we also wandered around the property (beautiful!) and took a short trip (20 min) to Early Mountain winery, which was nice treat. (Recommended in the Yurt's guest book.) For meals, besides Early Mountain snacks, we cooked at the Yurt. It has all the basics (pots and pans, cutting board, knives) you'll need, but we brought all our produce and oils and seasoning. On the second day, Whitt gave us a tour of the farm. We visited the goats and their kids, sheep and lambs, pigs, turkeys, chickens, and ducks. Whitt did a great job meeting us where we are, in terms of experience with raising animals (none), and spent a lot of time explaining how he approaches the farm, the things he's interested in, why he does certain things. After we left the farm, we stopped by Noon Whistle Pottery in Stanardsville and the BBQ Exchange in Gordonsville (a recommendation from Whitt) which was fun for us because as vegetarians we don't go to BBQ often. (Whitt suggested because they do BBQ tofu.) Overall, couldn't recommend it enough. #yurtlife - Caroline and Colin

    Colin2016-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Whitt and his family were wonderful hosts. Their yurt was unique and very comfortable. Although it rained for our entire stay, it was still fun to visit the farm animals and tour the grounds. The location, accommodations, food (breakfast was delicious), and hosts are a great example for why we always chose an Airbnb experience over a hotel whenever possible. The only suggestion that I have that would have made our stay even more seamless would be to post a couple signs on the property so future guests don't drive right past the yurt's parking area in the dark, as we did!

    Karen2013-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • We will definitely be staying here again. The Yurt is beautiful and it's located in such a wonderful area. I would recommend ordering a food basket. All the food is farm fresh and all the essentials to cook with were provided, Spices....etc. The only downsize was I wish we had more TIME to stay. There are plenty of trails and things to do outdoors but we just did not have enough time. Thanks again Whitt for your hospitality!

    Nathaniel2015-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truly unique and wonderful place. Whitt and his family have created something special that you will not find anywhere in the area - a pimped-out yurt with all the amenities, located on a beautiful piece of land adjacent to their organic farm with trails and spectacular views in abundance. And a saltwater pool. And a hot tub, from which we watched the stars. It was restful and magical. The breakfasts that Mia and Whitt brought each morning were delicious and included many ingredients from their farm (which Mia also allowed us to tour). We were able to buy some things from the farm and create our own meals as well. To top it off, they're wonderful people. We really enjoyed our conversations with them and are so thankful that they've elected to make their space - and eye for design! - available to all of us. We will be back.

    Grady2013-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • A few of my girlfriends and I came expecting a nice trip away from home, but it turned out to be more than just "nice". We were inspired by the craftsmanship, humbled by their hospitality and enlightened by their farm and all they had to share about it. I highly recommend Whitt and his family's yurt for any and all occasions! Ps- the breakfast alone (cooked by Whitt) is enough reason to come for a visit : )

  • We had a very nice stay in one of Alan's cottages. He is a kind and thorough post and provided everything we needed for our stay.

    Joshua2016-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place to find yourself. Staying in this little cabin was one of the highlights of our short trip around New England. Such a shame we could only stay the night though. Alan was a wonderful host, taking time out to show us around, when clearly after a very harsh winter, he had plenty of work to do on the farm, but he showed us the Surry Opera Company farm house cum opera house, told us some of the history of the buildings on the farm and took us for a walk to see the lake down the road. The Cabin itself is warm and cosy with a comfy couch, the loft was wonderful to sleep in, the bathroom spacious and the water nice and hot for a shower. Really my only regret is that we couldn't stay longer but i hope to be able to come back and stay a couple of weeks and write music there. Thank you Alan, we loved our stay in the cottage.

    Kellie2014-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • Alan's cottage was the perfect place to stay for a long weekend trip to the Maine coast! The cottage was comfortable, welcoming and came as advertised. The cottage came stocked with everything we needed for our trip and Alan was incredibly helpful in suggesting things for us to do and places to see.

    Colin2016-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Alan's cottage is an excellent opportunity to get away for the hustle and bustle, and spend quiet contemplation in a minimalist environment. The grounds have a wonderful history, and Alan is generous with his time and knowledge to share and tour together. The space is clean and private, and within a close proximity to a host of outdoor pursuits.

    Christopher2014-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Alan was very helpful throughout our stay. The location is very beautiful and what is more, there is a performing arts 'barn' near the cottage so guests have the option to take in some culture while they are there. I was able to attend a jazz concert and there are also classical music concerts, puppet shows, etc... Also, on Tuesdays, a woman comes from a local organic farm so there is a mini farmer's market. You feel like you can get away from it all here without being totally isolated. It's near a very nice village which is good for shopping and has an organic food coop. Also, the cottage is very near a beach that you have practically to yourself. There is also a nature walk that you can do along the beach and through the woods. The cottage is very comfortable and nice to stay in.

    Ginger2016-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Alan is an excellent host! He was happy to show us his property (which is beautiful), and tell us the history of it as well. That being said, he wasn't overbearing or intrusive either. Alan was helpful in choosing places to eat, to go out, etc. during our stay. If you have any interest in music, or musical talents I think this cabin is the perfect place for you, and Alan would be a great person to speak with too. My girlfriend and I have already discussed going back in the Spring, or Summer.

    Lucas2016-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time in Alan's cozy little cottage in Surry. It is built on old farm grounds, so it's surrounded by other wooden buildings owned by Alan, including his house out in the front. Upon our arrival, Alan made sure we had everything we needed and gave us multiple recommendations as to what to do/where to eat in Acadia and its surroundings. He regularly checked up on us to see if everything was all right (which it was). You'll be staying right in the heart of the Maine countryside, so you'll feel like you're alone in nature. If you're here during fall, it can get quite chilly during the night, so make sure to wrap yourself in extra covers. The cottage itself and its amenities are functional (be aware that there is no kitchen inside the cottage, though).

    Frederic2014-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very delightful time at Alan's place. It was very charming, comfortable and quiet. Moreover, the host is available and friendly. We highly recommend this beautiful place.

We ask that if dogs are left unattended that they be crated and that they remain on leash when wandering the property if they might be inclined to chase a child, cat, or chicken or wander off. Thanks for understanding! Single night bookings: We have a two night minimum, but when there is a single night gap in the schedule we are happy to accept a single night booking for an additional $25. Just shoot us a message with your date and we'll go from there.
Wimberley is a lovely little town full of unique shops, swimming holes, and friendly folks. We think you'll love your visit here!
  • What a lovely time! We were welcomed by a clean space, a warming hot tub, and fresh coffee & eggs! My partner and I enjoyed dips in the hot tub, light hikes around the property & creek, lounging in the hammock, evenings by the fire, and mornings welcomed by the grazing of gentle deer just yards from the deck. This space was exactly what we were looking for... A sweet departure from our day-to-day and a renewal to our sense of relaxation!

    Sean2015-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was as advertised. Lots of attention to detail in the design and refurbishing of the Airstream. It was very comfortable and we really enjoyed the BBQ, deck, outdoor shower, spa, and hammock. It made for a very relaxing time. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend. We had a very relaxing time.

    Patrick2012-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The airstream was delightful! We had a perfect time -- everything we needed was there and it's on a lovely piece of land. The outdoor shower is fantastic! Can't wait to go back.

    Deb2014-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cute renovated Airstream in a secluded location, with lovely trails down to Smith Creek. There's lots to do in the Wimberley area, and this is a very peaceful place to rest your weary head at the end of the day!

  • The hosts were very nice. The trailer was super cute and we loved the property. We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay again. There's a lot to do around the hill country.

  • we had an amazing 2 night stay in wimberley and this cabin. super relaxing! never got to meet jennifer and greg but we had no problems and enjoyed every minute of this great spot. highly recommended!

    Adam2012-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • The "Dixie Daisy" is amazing. My girlfriend and I spent a couple nights here while we explored the Hill Country. The trailer has everything you need to relax and enjoy the Texas Spring. We had originally planned to meet a couple of friends in San Marcos, but after seeing the trailer and location, decided to invite them over instead. We had a great time talking on the wooden deck, soaking in the hot tub, and enjoying the surrounding cedars. Perhaps the best unexpected feature is the DVD and tape collection. The sounds of an old Roy Rogers film or Hank Williams singing in the still Hill Country night is an unforgettable experience. As for the hosts, we met Greg, who is a great guy. All communication with them was excellent. Our only minor issue was a tripped breaker for the fridge, which was fixed as soon as we notified them. The only regret I have is that we didn't book the Airstream trailer for a longer period of time. We will definitely be back again.

    Christian2013-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it out for my reservation; I had s family emergency. Yet, the host was so great! They checked in on me and offered an extra day in case I happened to be in the area. I'm really looking forward to rebooking in the future and hopefully making it out there!

We are a real treehouse at the summit of Kilauea. We are less than five minutes from the main gates to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The park is open once again, and visitors are in awe of the changes wrought by the recent eruption. This is a wonderful time to plan a visit to a place not heavily touristed and central to adventures to be had on this part of the island. #weaccept
This is a custom designed treehouse, built by the same crew you see in Treehouse Masters on TV. The Jurassic attitude of the rainforest is preserved on the grounds. We also have a wedding venue nearby you may view in the photos. Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park borders the end of the street but can be accessed only through the main gate about two miles away. *** September 2108 notes: The park is open again! There is no surface lava at this time. Our air quality is now some of the best anywhere. There are scant emissions from the volcano. Steam comes out of the ground, signs of the hot magma below. There is currently no eruption. There are no signs an eruption is coming, or restarting. Volcanoes are unpredictable but they do give signs before going into action. Those signs typically are increased seismicity over a period of weeks and months, and sometimes years. No signs currently. The changes in the park due to the last eruption cannot be shown other than in imax format- they are that enormous. This is an excellent time to visit. Notes regarding cancellation and changes: please read the policy as published. Airbnb writes the policies and all of us must adhere to them. If you are feeling a need to cancel, you may wish to reconsider and change dates instead or discuss all options with us directly before deleting your reservation. Mahinui Na Lani hangs in ohia trees growing over a lava tube in the rainforest that extends into Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The treehouse was conceived as a companion to our rainforest pavilion, a Bali style structure a couple of blocks away, intended as an intimate wedding venue. Both may be reserved, and there are a couple of photos of the pavilion included in this series. The treehouse is accessed via a path that is about 100 meandering feet in the forest, lava boulders set into the side of the lava tube, and ladders. The ascent is somewhat steep once you reach the lava rocks. For your safety and comfort, we provide day packs to transfer whatever clothing is needed for your stay from your luggage into the abode. There is a special recessed corner dedicated to your stuff, with hooks for clothes, and a couple of night stands with drawers that can hold less bulky items. It's Hawaii, and the climate is mild, the atmosphere everywhere very casual. We also provide bathrobes. The treehouse itself is built on two levels, connected via a ship's ladder. The main level includes the living room, with two chairs and an ottoman, flat screen for viewing films & playing CDs, built in indoor window table & stools, small kitchen, outdoor shower, and composting toilet & vanity. The indoor fireplace is a Jotul propane stove vented to the outside. Outdoors on the lanai there is a cedar hot tub, and a teak table and chairs for al fresco dining in the trees. The upper level is also upper canopy, with birds actually flying around beneath you sometimes. There is a queen sized bed with a memory foam mattress, the tiny "closet corner" and another lanai. The windows other than the french doors onto the lanai are stained glass, made by a local artist. The kitchen functions best as a place to store leftovers after you go out to eat, with the microwave available to reheat them. There are plates and utensils so you can bring in take out and enjoy your meal either indoors or outdoors in solitude. The house was built primarily of recycled materials. The fir floors and redwood and cedar siding were once a church. This particular area is adjacent to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where Kilauea has been active for decades. There are hiking trails in and around the park through rainforest, desert, volcanic devastation, even a path with footprints preserved from an eruption over a hundred years ago. There are petroglyphs. Less than a mile from the treehouse there is Volcano Village, with restaurants and art galleries, a couple of places to buy gas. The entrance park itself is about two miles away. The neighborhood is rainforest, with many unbuilt upon lots. The reason there is no view of the treehouse through the forest is because the rainforest is very dense. There is the floor, very jungly with ginger, native ferns, and trees. Mid canopy are the tree ferns, some twenty feet tall, and over a hundred years old. The upper canopy is a mixture of ohia trees with red lehua flowers, Hawaiian holly, and others. We are asked from time to time if more than two people can stay in the treehouse. We can especially understand that families would like to bring their children to share this experience. The treehouse is a two person space. Everything is designed to be a honeymoon experience. While it is possible for more than two people to sit together and chat, only two can sleep over. There is no rollaway bed, nor is there room for one or for any other furniture beyond what is there already. Hall of Fame: The treehouse has been featured in Extreme Cribs, on episode 13. The Ellen Show: Kim Douglas's Tropical Vacation Ke Ola Magazine Volcano Tree House story in July - August 2011 edition Trip Advisor: One of the Ten Most Romantic Places to Stay (global selections) PureWow feature Treehouses of the World, Travel Channel European segment, by Treehouse Masters series Buzzfeed blogs and news articles published globally You will have access to the entire property, including the small structure below the treehouse near where you park your car. You may safely lock your luggage inside that room and use the day packs inside during your stay. If you use a CPAP machine, please contact us prior to making a reservation. There is only one treehouse on the property. We live nearby and come by regularly to maintain the treehouse. It is likely we will meet you on arrival. Otherwise, we are available by cell phone, text, email. When we are away, someone else who lives locally will be available to greet you and take care of your needs. The treehouse requires daily attention because it is off grid. This is generally done between 11 am and 4 pm, and most guests are away for that portion of the day. We do ask that if you are staying all day at the treehouse, that you communicate with us to let us know when one of us can come up and take care of the place. The neighborhood is mostly old growth rainforest with a few houses here and there. When you drive up, you will notice there are neighbors across the street and next door. You will forget about them once you walk through the moongate and enter the world of the treehouse. Sometimes of a late afternoon and evening you may hear a local hula halau practicing. We hope you find the sounds of laughter and Hawaiian language and music adds to the ambience. A rental car is a necessity. While there is public transportation, it is a long slow trip up the mountain. Uber and Lyft are available here, but the distances are such that renting a car tends to be more efficient. The park is a couple of miles down the road, and so large you will want to drive and not attempt to walk. Volcano Village is about a mile up the road. You might like to stroll up and back. If walking into the village for dinner, a flashlight for your return is an absolute must. We provide - please take it with you! If you are planning a first trip to our island, we suggest that you stay 2 or 3 nights at the treehouse. Please contact us for for discussion before you reserve if you wish. The island is truly big, and most people would rather spend the night on the west side of the island rather than return to Volcano after a day of play over there. Although we show rates for long term stays, we would like to discuss plans with you before completion of a stay of 5 days or longer. When you decide you want to stay at the treehouse, you are coming to a place unlike any other. There are other treehouses, but each is unique. This treehouse is off grid. This means it requires hands on service, every day. For most people, this is a seamless thing that happens while they are off adventuring. Every once in awhile, people come and do not want to leave, at all. We understand, but we do want to let you know that we must enter the treehouse on a daily basis to service the composting toilet. The hot tub also requires attention. The treehouse is in the forest. It is inside the trees, and this means easy critter access. To keep them outside, we carry your rubbish away and make sure your food is stored adequately. It is not a good idea to leave unwashed dishes, pots and pans, for these same reasons. This is the tropics. There are insects. They are not as prolific here as at lower elevations, but they do exist, and will visit you especially at dusk with lights on. Spiders are residents of the forest. They are food for the birds. If you love the birds, please tolerate their food supply. We empty the house of spiders daily but we do not poison. The spiders come back at will. They are small, and stay in the corners. They leave evidence of their visit in the form of webs. We do our best to be inhospitable to them, but they persist. When there is weather, like hard rains and winds, from your perch in the trees you will experience the sound and feel in ways you may have not before. The house is tight - the weather does not enter if the doors and windows are closed. But the sounds can be formidable. You will feel close to nature. Because of the size of the treehouse and the fact that it is off grid, it is not possible to offer a regular kitchen. The storage space is inadequate for more than a couple of days worth of food supplies.
The neighborhood is part undeveloped rainforest and part lots with houses. There are no tract homes - every house is individually designed and built. There are no street lights so at night it is very dark. The forest tends to obscure moonlight. There is a hula halau that practices nearby some afternoons, and you can hear their Hawaiian music and chants late in the day.
  • We absolutely fell in love with this place from the moment we saw it in pictures. When we got to the tree house in real life it was even more breathtaking! My wife and I didn't want to go anywhere, all we wanted to do was stay there the whole time! Gail was very nice and welcoming. She gives you a tour of the place the day you get there and there was even fresh local fruit waiting for us! We're already planning on coming back to the big island just so we can stay here again!

  • The Treehouse was the most unique and intimate accommodation we've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. It was actually better than described in terms of setting, atmosphere and comfort. We will never forget the lovely details and artistic touches that were clearly and deliberately incorporated into its design. From the moment we set foot inside, to the hot tub experience each evening, to tucking into the lofted bedroom up top we felt that we were experiencing something unforgettably unique and wonderful. A perfect jumping off point for Volcano National Park experiences, we feel lucky to have been able to reserve the Treehouse. Thank you for making this experience possible for us. We loved every minute of it.

  • Tia was great. Place was awesome and just as described. Highly recommend!

    Sarah2017-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place. It may seem too nature but the place is actually very clean and not too many bugs were around. Bathroom doesnt smell at all and the shower is one of a kind experience. Bed is more on the soft side and there are plenty of sheets and blankets to keep you warm :)

    Arthur2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse was magical. We enjoyed time in the hot tub and finished our evening watching a movie. We slept in the coziest bed listening to the sound of the rain. It was an amazing experience and we would return in a heartbeat.

    Jennifer2018-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • It's worth every single penny. I would recommend this place to anyone I possibly can! It was a truly magical experience, thank you!!

    Jonathan2017-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Yes.. the pictures speak for themselves- this place really exists! I cannot thank hosts Gail and Robert enough for providing the most amazing place to elope to! You made our wedding the most memorable and personal day possible, and spending our honeymoon in this treehouse was a dream come true. We are now ohana for life! The space itself is amazing- the hottub hanging into the rainforest... is a real thing and you keep pinching yourself. Located a mile or so from the actual volcano park, it was easy to spend the day enjoying the park/hiking and still enjoy the treehouse space too. Day plan protip(s): *Make sure you grab food in local Volcano Village before 8:30pm or you'll be hungry. *Or stay behind in Volcano park at Volcano House for dinner. --Off to go take a look at our backyard trees. Hmmm--

  • El departamento es muy completo y luminoso. Si bien el barrio está un poco alejado, tiene excelente comunicación por transporte público. Tuvimos todo lo que los anfitriones ofrecen. Pasamos unos días espléndidos en San Francisco

  • The place is comfortable. Very clean. Was big enough for two of us, as it has a private space for bedroom, plus living and dining. Bathroom is small. The neighborhood is safe and is well located and connected. Very easy to get to and from the airport, as well as different parts of SF. Mike always answered all the messages very fast and was very accommodating to our requests and needs.

  • We stayed for 2 nights while we were at a conference and enjoyed the place. Very quiet, lovely setting, clean, organized. Mike and Nic were both very nice, stopped by to check on us, and see if we needed anything. The location was convenient for us in SF with a car but would have been ok on foot and public transportation too. Highly recommended!! and a good price too.

One bedroom sanctuary with a beautiful garden view and cozy fireplace. Comes with it's own entrance just steps from bus lines, train and all that Haight Street has to offer. Complete privacy with a separate bedroom, bathroom, and breakfast bar.
If you want to be within walking distance to Golden Gate Park, Haight St, Buena Vista Park, and Cole Valley, this is the spot. Full size bed in the bedroom with 400 thread count sheets and a pull-out twin in the living room. Just installed fireplace and large screen tv makes hanging out fun in the comfortable living room. Bathroom has a shower within the tub and white fluffy towels.
You will hear from many that this is the best neighborhood in SF. I chose this area for the many Victorian homes, the ease of mass transit, the walkability, and the abundance of parks, restaurants, and nightlife nearby. As a recent transplant to this area I can tell you that the stores, coffee shops, restaurants, and pubs are great here. I forget I have a car most of the time! Street parking is easy except for Wednesday 8-10 due to street cleaning.
  • El apartamento de Sara está bien decorado, limpio y es tal y como lo muestra en las fotos. Es una buena anfitriona que mantiene contacto por si tienes alguna duda. Sin duda lo recomiendo

    Amelia2017-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great apartment in good position easily within walking distance to shops, restaurants and public transport. Apartment was very comfortable and clean. Enjoyed our stay immensely and Sarah was very friendly and accommodating.

    Graeme2015-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Walking distance to Gloden Gate Park, and surrounded by nice neiboughood, this is a great location to explore a real San Fransisco. Sara is very nice and Boo is adorable. The problem is that the room is located downstairs, and some people might find it look like a basement. The privacy is also a concern as you can clearly hear people talking and walking on the 2nd floor... Guess this is common in San Fransisco's old house though...

    Elan2015-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Sara's communication with us about our stay was great and much appreciated. Although not home when we arrived, her instructions were clear and easy and we were looking forward to checking out our digs for the next few days. Her Garden retreat is as pictured and was such a lovely place to stay - so close to everything we needed to see. Sara had a complete folder with recommendations for eating etc very organised.

    Sue2016-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay, Sara's place is in a great location and really lovely. Would recommend to stay. Friendly host, fast response to any request and very helpful.

  • Sara's gorgeous place was perfect for our first time, 4 night stay in SF. Nice and central. Only a short stroll to Haight-Ashbury shops, cafes and grocery stores. Welcome booklet with a heap of local info. WIFI and access to laundry. The cosy fireplace was amazing. Comfy bed! Super clean and quiet. Sara was so lovely and made us feel so welcome. We always received prompt replies to messages. She went out of her way to greet us after a late flight change. We really appreciated her local tips.

    Sangeetha2015-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • My host made me feel very welcome. She was ready and waiting for my arrival. The apartment was fresh, clean and easy to move right in. The neighborhood met all of my expectations and beyond. It is lovely and fun to stay in the Haight. I was in San Francisco for work and to visit family. Sara's place was perfect for me.

    Gretchen2015-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Best Airbnb experience yet! Sara is such a lovely, classy lady and so accommodating and welcoming. Being a 'doggie person' I absolutely adored her gorgeous dog Boo popping in for a visit now and then. The apartment is just a perfect location to experience all San Francisco has to offer. It's located right in the middle of all the action of Haight-Ashbury and you can access transport to all of SF's iconic travel hotspots easily just down the road. The local trendy little food market was just brilliant - it has the best array of groceries together with wines, beers and fantastic deli counter which also offers pre-prepared foods if you are keen to grab something tasty without having to visit a restaurant. The apartment was so comfortable and so beautifully decorated. Cannot rate Sara and her apartment (and of course Boo) highly enough. A 'must' stay for anybody visiting San Francisco!!

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE! This place was fantastic. The pictures don't do it justice. Epic views. Ling and David were very sweet and accommodating. Great place to stay for a romantic getaway.

    Erica2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The appartment is so bright and yet so cosy! The view is so amazing, we would naturally wake up with the sunrise, and it was the best feeling. We did a few hikes around and also went twice to Malibu seafood which has amazing fresh seafood. We will definitly come back and stay in this place next time. We felt so connected with the nature around, and the house was so comfortable!

    Yara2017-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible views from everywhere in the house. I loved picking fresh tangerines from the beautifully landscaped garden and enjoying them with a cup of tea as I looked out over the ocean. Definitely a peaceful retreat for those who need to unwind! Thank you!

    Alexander2016-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at David & Ling's Malibu Hideaway. The views were amazing and the mornings were very pleasant. We took a couple hikes while in the area that had incredible views of the ocean and mountains. The house was well maintained and clean. And the guide they put together was very helpful. We rented a convertible which made the stay even better. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We would definitely recommend and stay again!!

  • Amazing view! The upstairs home was roomy, amazing view, large deck to grill while taking in the gorgeous view. Absolutly fabulous place! Very romantic honeymoon ❤️

    Alisa & Adam2017-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Nice home and garden, great views, very good location. The place is nice, but a bit worn out and definitely needs at least some renovation. The cabinets in the kitchen are old and had a very bad smell, shower could use some renovation as well. No air conditioning, which could make quite a big deal on a hot day, if you want to stay in. Depending on what kind of neighbors you get on the upper floor, may get VERY noisy. All of this however were not major issues for us and overall we had a nice stay.

The Urban Farmhouse circa 1886 - meticulously converted in 2013. Situated adjacent to community garden. The updates afford you all the modern convenience you could ask for and charm you can only get from a building built in 1886. A true Charmer.
Privately tucked next door to a community garden in Denver's oldest neighborhood. 1/2 block to light-rail and near to B-Cycle (public bikes). Walking distance to local craft breweries and restaurants on Welton and Larimer. Street parking. 2 Bedrooms/2 Bathrooms perfectly sleeps two couples (additional charge for additional guests). We have a pack-n-play and baby gates available upon request. It is my home, but i will lock my personal items away and with the exception of a small portion of the closet the whole place is yours during your stay.
Denver's oldest neighborhood, Curtis Park nestled between gritty RINO with craft breweries, restaurants and Welton Street - all in walking distance (minimum 3 blocks away). About one mile to Denver's 16th Street Mall. One block from Curtis Park with public outdoor pool open Jun-Aug
  • Great place to stay. The host was more than gracious, helpful and the place was darling. Patrick place was warm, inviting and just a lovely place to be for our stay in Denver

    Karen2018-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Patrick's place was absolutely beautiful. If you're looking to stay in an elegant, yet fun, and close location to center Denver. This is your place! Thanks again Patrick.

    Blaine2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! We had such a great experience at Patrick's house in Curtis Park. Everything from the initial request, answering questions, check in, and most importantly the stay itself was truly top notch. The house is stunningly beautiful, and was very nicely furnished. Being close to downtown Denver was a huge plus as well. Parking wasn't an issue as there was plenty of street parking. If you're thinking of renting this listing, do it! It's even better than what it looks like in pictures and Patrick is one of the best hosts you'll encounter. We'd be happy to stay again anytime we're back in Denver!

  • Very kind and beautiful place to stay. Very helpful guidebook. Fun part of town. Would stay again

    Breana2018-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures do not capture how great this house is! The cleanliness, amenities, and easy of checking in an out made this trip comfortable and stress-free. Patrick made sure to check in and is always close by if I needed anything. I highly recommend this place!

    Mahealani2018-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Patrick was the perfect host, and his place was astoundingly lovely. It was exactly like the photos, but somehow even better. The neighborhood his home is located in is super cool, and super historic, so you're surrounded by brick Victorians and tree-lined streets. There's a cablecar/train station stop that takes you into downtown Denver, which is also about a 20 minute walk. I was in town for a conference with a colleague, and we really enjoyed our stay. We wholeheartedly recommend Patrick and his residence.

    Prianna2018-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Super clean. Had pro hotel touches like baggage holders, towels, snacks, guest guide. The 2 bedrooms are big. We had a friend sleep on the couch downstairs which was nice. The 2 bathrooms were pretty big. You can tell there was a lot of pride in the details and decor. The neighborhood was pretty amazing (Rhino, Larimer St). It reminded me a lot of Logan Square or Wicker Park or Pilsen neighborhoods in Chicago. Good coffee, shopping, breweries nearby. The graffiti nearby was an attraction on our bike tour.

    Henry2018-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is so much better than I could even put into words. Patrick stocks the house with everything you would ever need to make you feel comfortable and at home. Amazing decor, comfy beds and perfect location. Stop reading this and go book it now!

Comfy, cozy and romantic cottage less than 3 miles from Downtown. The Cleveland Cottage provides a private oasis within city limits that includes full kitchen, Wifi, parking, electric fireplace & entrance through a private courtyard with fire pit.

Please see house rules* -Wifi -Queen bed -Two twin beds in loft -Electric fireplace -Full kitchen -Smart TV: access to personal Hulu/Netflix/HBO Go accounts -Chromecast -Keurig with coffee and green tea -Towels -Blow Dryer -Ice Trays -Filtered water -Luggage racks -Outdoor courtyard -Fire pit -Soaker tub -Shampoo, Conditioner and Bodywash -Library We built and styled this cottage out of our love for adventure, history, creating an experience and the pure romance of traveling. The space is littered with family heirlooms and pieces of antique art that tell the story of our fair city. In the morning, the sun spills through the east facing wall, lighting up the cathedral ceilings and garland cladded chandelier. In the corner of the cottage is a reading nook where you can forget about your worries and dive into any of the novels housed in the library shelves. Wave your hand in front of the electric fireplace to ignite flames that create an authentic ambience or build a real fire in the fire pit outside. Take a long bath in the stock-tank-converted tub or grab the remote for the smart TV and sign into your Netflix/Hulu/HBO Go accounts. You can also cast something from your own computer with our Chromecast. If your adventurous spirit leads you beyond the walls of the The Cleveland Cottage, hop in a Lyft/Uber and take the 5 minute ride to the famous 5 points in East Nashville or downtown to the Honky Tonks. If you get tired, no worries, we've got a personal Keurig, in our full/fully stocked kitchen, to keep you going for days.
We live in the Historic Cleveland Park neighborhood of East Nashville adjacent to the original thoroughfare, Dickerson Rd. It is a transitional neighborhood and part of the gentrification process undergoing most surrounding, downtown neighborhoods here in Nashville. From big ol' craftsman houses to tiny, baby, paint-peeling bungalows- we have never found a more ethnically-diverse, artistic, tight-knit group of neighbors and are positive you will not only fall in love with Nashville, but also with our world-within-a-world... Cleveland friggin' Park.
  • I loved how quiet the neighborhood and — by extension — the cottage was. In a hotel, you’re subjected to the racket and drunkenness of other tourists.

    Zillah2018-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cozy cottage was the perfect place to stay for our girls weekend. It was cute, clean, and the perfect location to get everywhere we wanted throughout Nashville! Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends!

  • The home was absolutely beautiful and comfortable to stay in. The neighborhood is a cool up-and-coming area of town. Beta and Emily were super kind to us and gave us great directions, suggestions and helped with any needs we had.

    Katie2016-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just perfection, everywhere you look you fall deeper in love with the space. Hosts are very on top of everything, walked in to the record player playing christmas music, just awesome. Would definitely come stay again!

    Sonia2015-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • The Cleveland Cottage was absolutely perfect! It was literally within a few miles of everything and every place we wanted to visit. It was so cozy and inviting! We loved spending "breaks" from touring sitting on the couch in front of the gas fire place and catching up on "Dexter" via Netflix (we never get a chance for tv at home). The décor and attention to detail was way more than I expected. The bed was ultra comfy and felt amazing at the end of a busy day running around the city. Although I never met Beta and Emily, they were exceptional hosts and checked in with me often. I highly recommend this adorable place for a most enjoyable and comfortable stay in Nashville. I will definitely be back!

A cozy & clean renovated cottage in South Inglewood with private entrance. One bedroom, one bathroom cottage w/ a nice patio and backyard. Plenty of street parking. We'd love to help make your Nashville trip perfect!
Our cottage, which was renovated last year, is spacious (384 sq ft) with plenty of privacy. Included is a big patio and large backyard. Inside the cottage you'll find a full size bed, couch, dining table with chairs, shower/bathtub, and washer & dryer. Soap, shampoo, detergent, hair dryer, noise machine and filtered water are all provided.
Located in South Inglewood, we are very close to all the great East Nashville spots and only 4 miles to downtown. Our street is an upcoming residential area that is improving everyday. We are walking distance from a great YMCA and our neighborhood Mexican restaurant called Las Maracas. There's no shortage of good food, bars, shops and nightlife just minutes away. Most importantly, in the four years we've lived here, we've always felt safe.
  • Julian was a wonderful host. The cozy and cute cottage was just that. Loved the turntable with ELO album...

  • We enjoyed our stay at the guest cottage and Julian was an excellent host. We actually never met him in person, but he checked on us every morning. We had privacy which was great, but he was attentive and quick to respond if we had any questions. Overall, Julian was super helpful and made us feel very welcome. The cottage was super clean and as pictured, with great decor and attention to detail. Everything felt very new and I loved the bathroom/shower. The bed was a bit squeaky and softer than what we were used to, but not the end of the world. To be completely honest, the train woke us up every night, sometimes several times so we didn't sleep well at all. Neither of us are particularly light sleepers either. One other small suggestion - it would be nice to have somewhere to hang a couple of things. Maybe a garment rack in the room or even just a couple of hooks on the wall so guests could hang clothes would be nice.

    Laura2015-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The unit was bigger than we expected and had a more rustic feel to it. The train did wake us up and we did have a few issues that came up however our host was very responsive.

  • Julian's place was wonderful! Communication pre, during, and post stay was perfect, and we loved the charming cottage and backyard. Julian had great recommendations for us and we felt thoroughly welcome in Nashville :)

  • Julian was super accommodating, responsive, and welcoming! I was in town for my daughter's graduation and kept very busy! After a long day of celebrating, it was always a welcome relief to come "home" to Julian's well appointed, quaint cottage. Wonderful amenities, beautifully decorated, perfect location... But the chickens were the best part!

    Kenan2015-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • I love East Nashville so this was a perfect place to stay! Adorable place and nicely decorated. Julian was very responsive and helpful. She let me check out later, which was very helpful. I also loved her pet chickens!

    Samantha2016-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the decor! Julian was very thorough with ideas and places to go. Wish we had more time in Nashville. The train is pretty close- and a bit noisy only when he train rolls in, other then that a very quiet neighborhood and charming apartment.

    Merci2018-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Julian's cottage is a very comfortable little space in a good location. My friend and I took an Uber to downtown and back while we were there and it didn't take long at all. The bed is very comfortable, and the trains that run nearby didn't bother me at all! Julian is very helpful, he left a little booklet with suggestions of where to eat on the table, and checked in with me every once in a while to see how I was doing and if I needed anything. All around a great experience!

Location, location, location! Large, classy, timeless, comfortable, entire top floor with private entrance in our private house out of a 1890's novel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn one block from the East River. So easy to get to Manhattan by subway, ferry, cab or even foot, and all the best places in the "Burg" Wifi/cableTV/air/heat. (We stay in our separate floor below you never compromising your privacy!)
Perfect location on the Northside Williamsburg, Brooklyn Waterfront scene, my place is a wood beamed classic, with hard wood floors and restored original brick wall. It is the top floor of a 1894 restored house on a very nice semi residential street block. The nicely outfitted place, "the country in the sky" as I refer to it, has a beautiful totally functional "Peerless" antique prewar stove for cooking, generous amounts of pots, a wood burning fire place and a full size refrigerator in the kitchen. The feelings are cozy, warm, cabin like yet elegant. The kitchen and living room are in the same open area. There is a dining room table that seats 4, a beautiful brand new couch that folds down to become a very comfortable queen size bed that sleeps 2. Beyond the living area is the large master bedroom with a queen size bed that sleeps 2 with a large antique dresser and 2 riverside windows. Off the master bedroom is a large tiled classic bathroom with an antique skylight and large tub with shower, and a small bedroom with a twin size bed and riverside window that is nice as a separate rest area, a great place for a child to sleep, or an out of sight room to put your luggage and things. My location is beyond great and safe. 10 minutes maximum in a cab or car service over the Williamsburg Bridge and you are in Manhattan. It is a short walk (3 min) to the North 6th Street East River Ferry ( the scenic quick river route to Midtown Manhattan or lower Manhattan, please check schedules). Subways: L train ( gray line): First stop in Brooklyn, only one stop to Manhattan and a neat 10 minute walk from my place going by shops, restaurants and street vendors to the very frequent Northside L train subway stop at Bedford Ave and North 7 St, (Everything you want to pick up to take back to my place is on Bedford Ave or Kent Avenue which are the walking routes to the subway. (Among the small shops, restaurants and bars, there is now a "Whole Foods" supermarket and a Iphone store on Bedford!) The JM subway that goes over the Williamsburg Bridge with wonderful views of the river and NYC skyline to lower Manhattan (Chinatown etc), is a little further (13 min walk ) through the South Side. After a night out in the neighborhood, you will find this quiet, comfortable, timeless place to come home to that is the top floor of a restored Williamsburg house. All East River parks are a short walk away with their spectacular river and skyline views. During the warm months the weekend flea/food markets down Kent Avenue/North 8 on weekends are fun and back dropped by the river and Manhattan skyline. Grand Street River Park is only a block and a half away. I love going there in the mornings with a cup of tea and taking in the NYC view. The quaint restaurants and music clubs are amazing and abundant, the "Williamsburg Foodtown" Market has all the groceries you need and frankly the only reason I would leave the "Burg" would be to go to a museum, St. Patrick's, Grand Central's Oyster Bar or ice skating at Rockerfeller Center. Indoor Flea Market on North 7th right off Kent Ave, "Mast Brothers Chocolate" on North 3rd off Berry, "Beer Garden" restaurant lunch, dinner, brunch with live music on Friday nights on North 3rd and Berry, "Sea" restaurant (Thai) on North 6, "Sweet Water" (Bistro) restaurant on North 6, "Dumont Burger" for awesome burgers on Bedford between South 2-3, "Aurora" (Northern Italian) with great brunches, lunches and dinners is right around the corner as is "Coxley's" sport bar with 40 beers on tap and great chicken wings on Grand St. "Teddy's" rest and bar (American Bistro) on North 8, a landmark that serves brunch, lunch and dinner and also has music sometimes at night, and the "Knitting Factory" music performance space and bar is 6 blocks away on Metropolitan. The best NY steak house, "Peter Luger's" reservations only, is in the vicinity. The floor is divided in 4 areas: upon entering you are in the kitchen and living, dining room with a wall and door that separates this space from the large bedroom in the front, the large tiled bathroom and the smaller front bedroom. The living area can easily convert to a sleeping area for 2. The place is adorable and sleeps four comfortably. Much quieter than most places in the area. Heat, air conditioning, wifi, fine linens/towels and kitchen utensils are provided for my guest. Full laundry drop off service and dry cleaners is available a couple of blocks up the street at "Berry Cleaners" or 302 Bedford Ave. My personal assistant/butler and I will check with you on your arrival time, hand over keys and be close at hand for anything you need during your stay. I and my husband are on our private lower floor of the house.
The neighborhood feels like a small village. It is very safe and has such a mixture of different foods, cultures, and restaurants. The Manhattan skyline views along Kent Ave can get no better and the wonderful Pier off North 5 on a Sunday afternoon is full of families, tourist and the occasional fisherman. During the warmer months there are outdoor flea markets and food markets of North 8 on the East River side. Bedford Avenue (3 blocks away) on the North and South side is filled with non chain restaurants, bars and shops.

  • The cabin in the sky was a lovely place to stay while in Brooklyn for a week. It's right in the heart of Williamsburg close to everything you could possibly want. Manhattan is a quick train ride away too. There were some issues with the heat, but it was promptly handled. The internet was also a little bit spotty. All in all we had an excellent stay and would return happily. Everything was as described. Thanks cabin in the sky!

  • We all loved our Williamsburg 'home'. The light, the wood & the very comfy bed. It's a very laid-back neighbourhood with loads of great coffee shops, bars & restaurants. Maria was a very generous long-distance host, & Azul a very helpful on-the-spot one. Best of all was the daily 'commute' by the East River Ferry, great views & a lovely way to begin & end the day away from the heat of Manhattan.

    Rachel2014-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very Williamsburg and completely charming. It won us over. It's very much as pictured although the one thing you can't see is how immaculately clean and thoughtfully outfitted it is. Azul does a gorgeous job of getting the apartment ready for your arrival so that it's picture perfect when you get there. The medium firm memory foam mattress is perfect with plenty of pillows and good linen. Lots of clothing storage space. Great water pressure and temperature control in the shower. Perfect wifi and nicely outfitted compact kitchen. Little extras are appreciated, including little things other hosts forget, like international plug adapters for overseas travellers like us and a copy of the current Time Out magazine to point us in the right direction. Easy check in, easy check out. Despite being on a busy thoroughfare (Kent Ave.), we were surprised that there was really little noise at night. VERY nice people in the building. If you want a real Williamsburg experience, this is the place for you. Top marks.

  • Lovely and conveniently located apartment. Enjoyed the fireplace and proximity to great places to eat. Would definitely return!

  • Me and three other friends staid at the "Cabin in the Sky" for about a week over new years eve. All of us loved the place and had no complaints! It is very spacious and cozy, and in a great location. All the appliances work perfectly and the beds are very comfortable. Maria was very helpful and nice getting everything situated as well as Azul who was there to help us whenever we needed it. I would recommend staying here to anyone of my friends or family!

This is a safe space. We've created a wonderful space that we love to call home. It's full of good energy, happiness & musical instruments! All is Love. It's in Southeast Denver near I-25 and Evans. It's 15 mins from downtown & 20 mins from the airport. Come play! Cleaning fee is included in the price.
*** PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE INQUIRING. ** *** THIS IS A SAFE SPACE *** *** Must be LGBTQIA+ friendly because we are, too! *** ️‍ *** We have an adorable cat named Butternut Squashington. If you're allergic, steer clear. I'm sorry you won't be able to meet him. :) *** *** 420 Friendly - cannabis inside, anywhere, cigarette outside. There’s a 420 shelf for all your hardware needs! Dab rig, pipes, papers, grinder, etc *** Check in is at one, but is definitely flexible depending on your needs and the guests prior to you. You can at least drop your bags off if your travel plans have you arriving early in the day. Lauren is a very open-minded queer woman that wants you to have a great time in Denver. She can help you find what you want to do and where you should go to do it. You’ll be communicating with Lauren consistently. Natalie loves to build community and speaks Spanish fluently. The condo is easy to find with lots of parking. Please park on the street. You can use my garage for things like bikes and motorcycles. We’re close to the airport and if you need a ride and we’re available, we can do that for a small fee to cover gas. The bus system is relatively easy to use from my place but gets very limited late at night. If you come when I'm not home I'll guide you to the hideaway key. You have to climb one flight of stairs to get to my condo. Make yourself at home! You and a second guest will sleep on a comfy foam mattress in the guest room (it's private). If there are three or four guests, we can blow up the double tall queen mattress. We travel a lot for work, so you may need to change your own sheets. Lauren is a sound healer and offers discounted treatments if you stay with us. Lauren’s work is to bring the body from a place of imbalance to a place of balance using the vibrations of ancient instruments. It's like a full cellular body massage! We don't have cable - We have internet, plenty of DVDs and a little projector for a fun entertainment center extraordinaire. If you bring a laptop you can connect it via HDMI to the projector, and I have the adaptor for Mac. There's a grocery and liquor store within walking distance if you have any needs that I don't have stocked. Feel free to do laundry with my personal machines and supplies. You need to turn on the light inside the closet where the laundry is to turn the washer on. When leaving please be careful because the cat is quite the escape artist.
Very close to I-25, yet quiet and clean. I have very nice neighbors.
  • My brother loved this home. Lauren was a great host and very easy to communicate with. I would highy recommend staying in her home, as it will be a choice for our lodging in the future.

    Alexandra2017-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lauren was a wonderful and incredibly generous host who gave us great suggestions on where to explore, shop and visit. We immediately felt at right home when we arrived to Lauren's and were greeted by Butternut Squashington. Lauren and her home are both warm, unique and inviting. This truly felt like our home away from home and we couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. Can't wait to visit again :)

    Dani2017-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay here. Lauren was very accomodating.

    Jeff2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay. This was my first Air Bnb and Lauren has set the bar so high. If you're looking for a chill place where you can fully enjoy what Denver has to offer () with a cool host, then this is a great choice.

    Rafael2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lauren was fantastic! She went out of her way to keep us happy....when she woke up and headed off to yoga, she had left eggs and coffee for us and always made sure we knew she was available to help or answer any questions we had.

    Leah2016-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lauren is a really great host. She was super chill and fun to hang out with. The apartment is cozy, but ended up being a little too far from downtown (totally not Lauren's fault). If you're going to be visiting downtown, consider a different place unless you have a car (we Ubered everywhere). Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone traveling on a budget.

    Kevin2016-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at Lauren's. Her apartment was chill and cozy. She wasn't in town the weekend we stayed over, but the process could not have been smoother. We all became immediate fans of Butternut Squashington as well :)

    Maddie2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time! Lauren and I are on the same wavelength. The place is as described, warm, friendly, welcoming, as was Butternut Squashington, the resident cat. He and I are best buds now. The place is very cozy, and Lauren is very thoughtful. It's the little things, like putting the King Soopers grocery (right down the way) card thingie on the housekey so that we could scan and get the discounts at the grocery. There are numerous little touches like that that I could go on about, but bottom line, she has put a lot of thought and energy into making it a very welcoming and comfortable place to stay. I fully anticipate staying here again.

This lovely little victorian cottage home in the Historic Curtis Park neighborhood features a sunny eat-in kitchen, a formal dining room, a spacious living room, and 2 cozy bedrooms - powered with Solar! One block from light rail and public transit. Walk or ride to many restaurants and bars on Welton and Larimer Streets. 10 blocks from Downtown and Historic Lodo. Bike Share program is very close by if you want to cruise down to Larimer Street and Downtown. Free off-street parking, laundry, High speed wifi, 50" HD Roku TV with active streaming accounts: Netflix, Amazon, HBO, MLBTV, Starz, and more. Stereo and record player in the living room. One master bedroom with luxury memory foam queen sized bed. One study/bedroom with very comfy convertible bed. Super cozy large couch in living room sleeps one comfortably (doesn't pull out). Dining room is open to living room with piano and banjo. Back yard with gas grill, dining table with umbrella and a lounge chair. Help yourself to vegetables from the garden in season! *Please note that we have window unit AC’s - not central air. *This is a family friendly home but it is by no means child proof. We do have a pack n play and outlet covers.
5 Points is Denver's historic African American downtown. Once upon a time, Welton Street was home to some of the greatest jazz clubs in the country. The famous Rossonian is in the process of being restored to it's former glory and many music venues have sprung up around the neighborhood. Though the gentrification of 5 Points is well underway, it's residents are hoping to preserve it's diversity and sense of community. This part of Denver is growing and changing rapidly! There are tons of galleries, street art, breweries, restaurants and bars nearby. We are close to Downtown but still quiet and neighborhood-y. please checkout our guide book to see our recommendations. *This is an Urban environment. If you are uncomfortable being around folks of different cultures, classes or colors, please find a different neighborhood to stay in.
  • I enjoyed staying at Eliza's home for a weekend trip to Denver. The house was clean and we enjoyed the simple touches like a bottle of wine and fresh flowers. Easy check-in and close to anywhere we wanted to go. The record player was my favorite part. What a fun way to enjoy a vacation rather than sitting in front of the TV.

    Becca2017-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • The home is clean and ready for you when you arrive. It's close to downtown and the street car, which is nice and easy to get around.

    Trevor2017-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great. The house was clean and had clear instructions to help out with the small details. It was easy to park the rental car and get to different areas of town. It’s within walking distance to some great coffee shops too.

    Victoria2017-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • We didn't meet the host but she was responsive to emails and text messages. The neighborhood was convenient to the activities in downtown Denver....but on our arrival we were greeted by a gentleman sleeping in the doorway of the school across the street so I was a little concerned about leaving my car parked in the front of the house. My wife and I were comfortable with the neighborhood but it did cause my teenage daughter some concern and she wasn't comfortable sleeping alone so she slept in the room with my wife and me.

    Matt2015-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a charming house, with easy access to downtown Denver. The hosts graciously left things for us to use in the house (all amenities of course, but also food, a working BBQ, bathroom toiletries, etc.), which made our stay very easy. There was air conditioning, which was a relief for the hot days. We enjoyed sitting around the large dining table, or outside in the back area to enjoy the evenings. It was such a pleasant setting, we were thrilled to stay there during our trip to Denver!

    Alene2013-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed my stay at Eliza's home. Everything was just as described and shown in the listing. The neighborhood was safe, quiet and enjoyable for walking. This was an excellent location from which to explore Denver and the surrounding area.

    William2014-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was a perfect little house, great location, and great amenities. Nothing beats having an amazing record collection to browse through! Bus and rail station are a shirt walk away and open you up to get to the downtown core in 10-15min. Overall this property was all we wanted and more!

    Byron2015-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • 5 Stars: We really enjoyed staying at Eliza's. It's a great pier-and-beam house with hardwood floors, plenty of windows, a nice relaxing back yard, comfortable bed, fully-stocked kitchen, a dining room table perfect for eating or spreading out metro maps (courtesy of Eliza), and very close to a metro stop that will take you quickly downtown. Eliza was extremely responsive and thoughtful. We plan on returning to Denver fairly often, and we hope to be able to stay at Eliza's each time.

Sue went above and beyond in ALL ways. She was the perfect host and we would have missed out on so much of Beaver Island without her. She was kind enough to make sure our stay was great. She picked us up from the ferry, gave us a full island driving tour, and even let us borrow her car! The Getaway was perfect. We had our own private bathroom, full use of the kitchen, a deck, and even a private beach. Beds were comfortable and the room was arranged very nicely to allow for privacy for anyone who woke up early.

Seamus was an incredible host, sharing his beautiful home and retreat center in the nurturing woods and dazzling wildflower meadow. I immediately felt at home at Tara's with a delightful balance of great conversations, explorations of trails, lakes and blueberry patches, intervals of solitude and journaling, and trips into town to catch art shows, live music, chats with locals at the library or pub. The room itself was spacious and inspiring, hexagonal design, upper floor, among the tall trees and sunlight, perfect for yoga or hanging out on the balcony with a good book. The first floor room is more intimate and cozy and another great option to explore my next trip. Seamus enjoys good wholesome food which made for delicious breakfasts, snacks and dinners. My five days felt expansive and timeless at Tara's Meadow thanks to Seamus and his care and attentiveness to place, space, and people.

This is the ideal Beaver Island getaway. Carol's place offers a convenient location, charm, and a local connection to the island's heartbeat. We loved that Carol picked us up from the ferry and gave us helped us orient ourselves to the town. My grandmother and I loved lounging on the deck day and night, and it was the perfectly located for us to slow down and relax mid-day when needed. Carol was warm and welcoming, and being above the boat shop was a treat. This apartment will elevate your Beaver Island vacation to a blissful experience.

We loved the location (right next to restaurant, grocery store, marina) and the view. Within walking distance (.5 mile) of the ferry dock and interesting sights on Whiskey Point. This new place is squeaky clean and a great value for the money. Sleeps 3 comfortably, and you can save money by cooking if you like, it's fully equipped. Loved the view from the deck. If you're considering a trip to Beaver Island, we'd highly recommend staying here!

Linda's place is like new. It is very clean and modern. Having the washer and dryer for our use was fabulous, as there was a lot of rain and our clothes picked up some dirt from being out in it. We highly recommend staying at Linda's.
