Welcome to Highside a delightful cottage set in a secluded location overlooking the tranquil village of Lorton. Dating back to 1695 (as engraved on the fireplace in the kitchen), the cottage retains many original features but has been sympathetically modernised. The cottage resides within our farm, Terrace Farm with open countryside and panoramic views of the Lakeland Fells and numerous Wainwrights including Melbreak, Whiteside, Low Fell, Hopegillhead to name but a few.

Relax at this peaceful place to stay in the Western Lake District. There are plenty of lovely walks from the doorstep. The King George pub is only a minute walk away, serving lovely home cooked food and real ale. The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, known locally as “La’al Ratty” is only a ten minute walk from the cottage. Eskdale Stores is open daily. The cottage itself has been recently renovated and has a secure garden with lovely views, ideal dogs.

It is our weekend home, providing tranquillity and an escape from the bustle of modern life - a superb place to bring friends (& dogs) and to relax. Please note: -there is limited parking for 2 cars. - the property is not suitable for people with limited mobility or balance. - due to exposed rural location roads likely to be icy in winter

The Duddon Nest is the perfect get away destination for you. Set in the heart of the picturesque Duddon Valley it surprises with a unique blend of traditional and modern style. The Duddon Nest is part of a traditional 17th century, stone long house, The Low Farm, home of Sabeen, Richard, Izaak, Hamish and the dogs Neo and Kali, 3 cats and a few hundred bees.

Spacious converted barn on the border of the Lake District National Park. Brilliant base for walking or cycling with good amenities in the local village, Broughton in Furness.
