A gem on a tranquil river - the perfect hideaway for a romantic weekend.

What a lovely place! There were 7 of us staying here in total and each of us said what a fabulous place it is, the pictures don’t do it justice! Rooms are spacious and clean, the kitchen/living area was open plan and sociable and the setting was beautiful. We spent one afternoon in and around the hot tub overlooking the garden and scenery with the sun on us all day and it was the perfect place to completely relax and unwind. We also got a taxi into Durham city centre which was only £12 in total so not far at all but you feel like you’re way out in the countryside. Kaye was also a great host and very responsive to any questions in the lead up to our stay. Overall, a 5 star experience. Thank You! x

One of the best Airbnb accommodations we've stayed in. The lodge was exactly as described (the third bedroom was smaller than we'd expected but I think that's more because we hadn't paid much attention to it), if not better than described (the shower was spacious). Everything was there as we needed it, we appreciated having working utensils in the kitchen (not always the case). The view from upstairs was amazing, much enjoyed from the sitting area upstairs. Julian was a responsive, kind host, as were Ainsley and Steve, our local point of contact (next door). We even had a delicious welcome pack. We had an amazing week exploring the area. Julian's idea of asking people to write down recommendations of places to visit in the visitor's book is an excellent one. Thank you for opening your home to us.

The property is a hexagonal wooden cabin, tucked away in a secluded spot convenient for birdwatchers (RSPB reserves and WWT Caerlaverock are nearby), dog-walking at the fantastic Sandy Hills beach and hiking along the coast. Nonetheless it is only half an hour's drive from Dumfries and/or Castle Douglas. The lodge has lovely views down to the Solway Firth across to the Cumbrian Hills and beautiful night skies. We stayed between Christmas and New Year, when we experienced wild and wet weather as well as deep frosts, but the cabin was always warm and cosy. The open plan kitchen/living area was greatly appreciated, as were the two bathrooms. This was a lived-in but very comfortable space. We all felt at home here, including the dog.

we had a lovely stay at the lodge. it was safe for my kids to play as the outside area is enclosed, and the fence gives privacy when in the hot tub. there was an issue outside the hosts control but they were extremely proactive in resolving it. they were very responsive when contacted and really pleasant to deal with.

Lovely cabin, lovely setting within a beautiful park, lovely little walk aroun the lake. Very dog friendly park which was lovey. Very nice hottub. Had everything you might need! Lots of things to do nearby if you have a car, and right next to the zoo.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the tranquil Chalet. The beds & pillows are so comfortable, fresh clean linen & towels. Kitchen well equipped. We will definitely be back for another visit. Thank you

what a place! incredible communication from the hosts and information on and around the place before going. Extremely happy with the fulfillment of the booking of what we expected and the standard of the ferny hoolet. I booked this as a surprise for my fiancé for our 10 year anniversary as she'd never been to the lake district which is close by as well which we experienced as well as the lovely ingleton waterfalls as well which be prepared for a walk. The hot tub at the ferny hoolet is clean and great for some night time relaxation with the surrounding sounds. The master bedroom bathroom has an incredible bath/shower which took a while to understand all the settings but then again I loved every minute in that spaceship of trying to understand and find different buttons. overall, an incredible stay and incredible communication and incredible location.

Me and partner love it here! We’ve been here twice now and honestly it still takes my breath away! It feels like home away from home. The hottube is amazing you have a lovely view of the lake. The free standing bath is also a lovely feature! Sam is lovely host and always gets back to you! Honestly couldn’t fault this place.

Had a lovely stay over the Easter break. The accommodation was fantastic, super clean and tidy, spacious and felt like a little home from home. The location looking over the lake was so beautiful and made the holiday - with it being near the water expect to see some bugs/midges - the little critters get everywhere, especially if you leave a window open on the evening so bare that in mind. The haven site itself was ok, really clean and tidy but not much to do for older children who are adventurous in our opinion, which was fine as we went off site most days anyway. The entertainment passes are very overpriced and wouldn’t pay for them again as we only went swimming twice and the evening entertainment was pretty shocking (just bring your bikes and explore the lakes in the day and for the evening play some games back at the chalet instead and save your money). With that said..Would 100% recommend the actual accommodation again and again it was perfect and the communication was 10/10

Really bright airy chalet, but surprisingly warm and cozy. Fab views over the fields to Criffel and just a stones throw from the shore. Nights filled with the call of Curlews and a sky full of stars. Well placed for walks along the beautiful Solway firth, over hills and through woodland.

Lovely lodge right on the beach, gorgeous views.. great for watching sunrise & sunset 😍 Lindsay left doggy treats & cake what more could we ask for! Lots to do on the site..

We had a lovely couple of nights in this very spacious but cosy lodge. It is very close to the beach which is perfect for walking the dogs and 5 minute walk to the pub - perfect!

Lovely location, kind and friendly host, spacious yet cosy and pleasant cabin. Really enjoyed my stay - beautiful view, right on the beach, lovely long walks. Cabin was clean, warm, and comfortable, utilities worked well, great shower. Birds and bunnies to watch in the morning, a very peaceful space.
