Our little cabin is now closed permanently. Thank you to all the wonderful people we have met and hosted over the years. It has been an amazing adventure. While we end this chapter - we begin another. Stay tuned. We will keep you posted.
We do live on the property and are available for directions and advice, but your privacy and comfort are our first concern. Our property is tucked away in a mature hardwood forest. The only distractions are the singing of birds, the scratching of squirrels, the splash of rainfall on a tin roof, the whoop of the steam train whistle from Tottenham, and on weekdays the squeal of the kids at recess in the schoolyard up the way. There is no public transport to our property. The cabin is heated primarily by woodstoves ( we include firewood in the rental) . There are electric heaters for emergency use - but we expect our guests to embrace the more pioneer spirit the cabin inspires. Lessons included free of charge. When it snows ( and it will) we're happy to lend snowshoes to the intrepid. The forest is a wonder in all seasons and will refresh even the most weary spirit. Please note - there is NO INTERNET access unless you can tag in via your cell phone. No cable or satellite tv. It's a cabin. Adults only. Please see House Rules for other conditions.
  • Yes, Booth made us feel very welcome. The listing does a god job of describing the cabin. The location is close to many amenities in the neighbouring towns, but feels surprisingly remote.

  • The Cabin provided a lovely experience for my partner and I. We were looking for a weekend getaway and that's exactly what we got. Our goal of 'doing nothing' was made easier by the great hospitality of Booth and Janet. We truly loved reading on the deck and exploring the large property. Communication was made easy and all questions were answered promptly.

  • Incredible. We stumbled upon this little, wonderful cabin while searching for somewhere to spend a week this summer. We were able to disconnect and enjoy the peace that comes with staying in a cabin like this, we couldn't have asked for more. It's small, quaint and secluded while being close to the necessities (if needed) and some towns to explore. Booth and Janet were more than accommodating and we are so grateful that they share their grounds with cabin goers. The grounds include walking trails, a swimming pond, swings and hammocks. It's arguable who loved this cabin more - us or our pup.

    Brittany2016-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Booth's cabin in the woods had all the ingredients to make for a perfect weekend. We hiked around the property, built fires, BBQ'ed, slept in, and relaxed. The cabin is the perfect size for two to just get away and hang out. The wood paneling and high ceilings make the views of all the trees through the many windows seems that much more magical.

    Dara2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as described - great little rustic cabin in the woods. Nice walking trails throughout the property.

    Emma2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Cabin in the Forest is exactly as advertised. A beautiful little spot with everything one needs to relax and unwind. Janet showed us the ropes on how to use the woodstove whihc kept us cozy at night and then we were completely on our own to explore the forest and lounge in the comfy cabin.

    Christy2015-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The reservation was canceled 9 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

    Matt2014-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is a true gem- truly a little oasis set in the middle of a forest. The kitchen had everything one might need to cook. The bed was comfy. The cabin is very spacious for 2 people. You really just need to bring your food and a suitcase. We'll definitely be back!

This land is a Healthy Earth Farm and Retreat so we can be busy planting our gardens, mowing our grass, building different projects and caring for the animals. We feed our birds, so there are many unusual kinds that are very friendly and come close to you. There are lots of animals, so you may hear mating sounds from frogs, birds and others. You never know what sights and delights you may encounter - like porcupine, turtles, frogs, deer...that is very different from the city!
Utopia is truly a slice of heaven and is a peaceful and healing haven for those seeking relaxation and restoration of the body, mind and soul. I spent many days in the box car cabin and felt all the stress of the city melt away as I listened to the beauty of nature surround me. In terms of price, it was an exceptional value. I have yet to see a place offer so many amenities at this price. I also don’t use any toxic, chemical cleaners or products in my home, so to find a place where everything was natural was a huge bonus. The box car cottage is very comfortable and I had a restful sleep and enjoyed listening to the gentle sounds of nature sing me to sleep. I was able to maintain my healthy diet, enjoy a cup of tea, cook great meals (often with wild, organic food provided by Vera from her property) enjoy a dip in the spring pond and soak up some sun on the patio of the box car. I enjoyed taking showers and drinking the water, knowing that the quality is excellent and comes from a pristine artesian well located on the land. A friend of mine specializes in finding “great quality water” and when he had a dip in the spring pond, it was a taste of heaven and he verified the exceptional quality. There are lots of activities to enjoy at this lovely retreat. I had a wonderful time walking the large property, looking for and picking the most amazing herbs (like stinging nettle, thyme, sage, oregano, parsley, etc.) plus incredibly healthy, wild foods like mushrooms, fiddleheads, wild leeks etc. After picking a bag full of goodies, I proceeded to enjoy a beautiful session of yoga in the screened gazebo which overlooks a gorgeous view of the river and property. It is a breathtaking view and extremely tranquil. You can also meditate or read a book there. Then I proceeded to the river and used some of the rich and mineral dense mud by the shoreline and blissed out in the sun! What a great spa treatment; the same procedure would have cost at least $50-120 at a high end spa! I then took a divine dip into the spring fed pond and then went for a magical kayak ride to explore the land - you can canoe/kayak all the way to Wassaga beach so you can really have an adventure with this! There are some rare birds I saw in my travels on the property and all kinds of wildlife to marvel at, it’s truly an ongoing adventure with so much to experience. Other days I took a book and a blanket to sit by the cliff that has a breathtaking view of the lookout and river. This is one of my favourite spots on the property! The view is priceless and the peace that surrounds you is beyond words. Finally, at night, I loved to take my flashlight and walk around the property to see the stars and enjoy some light exercise and fresh air. Then having a swim in their chemical free pool and hot tub to end off the night was supremely satisfying! There are very few places that can provide a non-toxic environment, especially in pools, as Vera has done successfully. Everything is clean and it is such a great experience to be able to enjoy a hot tub or pool without worrying about chlorine and toxic chemicals. This was a real treat. I can’t say enough good things about this place - it is truly an experience you will not regret. Vera is an exceptional host and she goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable and she leaves no stone unturned in terms of providing full and exceptional service and accommodations for her guests. She is very friendly and is also very knowledgable about health, and creating a healthy and non-toxic environment. The place is remote enough that you feel one with nature, but also close enough to the city that you can easily get groceries or anything you desire minutes away. There is an organic restaurant five minutes away as well that is very delicious and will satisfy your craving for good, healthy food. If you get a chance to try Vera’s cooking, you are very lucky and will love her food! She is an amazing chef and a wonderful person that you can learn a lot from if you are interested in natural health, permaculture, foraging, etc. - Dee Sharma Very nice place! Full of nature: beautiful landscapes as forest, river, field, pond… Many wild animals we saw a deer, a porcupine, and baby birds just in one hours walk. We swim in the pond and that was really nice! Thank you very much for this experience at the Utopia Farm. - Oliver Utopia is a very nice and people are friendly. I like the way they live - healthy and they don’t worry about things. They are so many wild animals and beautiful forests too. We saw many in the night. I dreamt about them too. I learnt some knowledge about plants from them too. It is a very nice experience. Thank you! - Langeker
  • El lugar es único, es para personas que les gustan los exteriores, es una experiencia paraver el lado rural que es importante conocer. Hay muchos mosquitos así que vayan preparados! Pero los alrededores son bellos.

  • My family booked a 3-night stay in the railcar following the Christmas holidays. Travelling with a 10 month-old, we were looking for a cozy hideaway within a short drive from Toronto that had access to trails and hiking and a kitchen to prepare our own meals. As we looked at nearby listings we were pleased to find Vera's Airbnb offered this as well as the added bonus of access to a pool and hot tub. The railcar itself was cozy and we made great use of the woodburning stove. There were lovely hiking trails both on the property as well as within a short drive. Unfortunately we weren't able to take advantage of some of the features in the listing. The kitchen in the railcar was not "fully-equipped" as described -- there is no oven, and only a small bar fridge and two stove elements, which made preparing meals difficult. Also, Vera apologized that the pool couldn't be heated beyond 70 degrees in the winter, which was far too cold for our 10 month-old and even my avid swimmer wife.

  • We had a great, relaxing stay at this box car train cottage getaway! Vera and John were very welcoming, and left little touches around the cottage that made it extra special for us. From the homemade cookies to the Ginseng tea, our bodies became recharged and our souls nourished in this fresh aired oasis. They are very proud and happy to share their acres of land for guests to enjoy. And we did! We enjoyed learning about and sharing the benefits of using their chemical free hot tub and chemical free indoor swimming pool. The pool felt like swimming in a natural pond, very refreshing. Vera and John were happy to share stories, and made us feel welcome to join them in their activities or welcome to enjoy the property on our own. They are interesting and kind people, who we enjoyed talking to. Thanks again for a great stay! Alex and Randi

  • Vera was very welcoming, boxcar-house was exactly as pictured and described - grounds are large and well maintained, pool in main house is lovely, nearby town has som cute restaurants - discovered a nearby farm (10 minutes by car) with pick your own and activities for kids... There are probably others nearby.

  • Vera was a great host. The place was scenic, quiet and relaxing. The pool and hot tub were amazing. We are like what they are doing with regards to ecological sustainability. We are still enjoying the herbs from the herb garden The pet goat was super sweet!

  • Vera and john were magnificent hosts. Our 3 night stay at the century old boxcar was magical. Vera and john thought of so many ways to share their incredible 62 acre property. From freshly cut flowers in every room, to the train related artifacts, health and well being literature, immaculate facility, it was all done with kindness, and a sincere desire to offer us the richest experience in "Utopia". The indoor swimming pool and fresh pond were such a place of renewal and relaxation. We enjoyed observing many frogs, chipmunks, blue jays, yellow finchs, several varieties of squirrels, deer, and rabbits were a daily thrill. We will not forget our yoga class, bonfires, stories, laughter and the friendship forged during our stay. We learned about bokashi composting along with many other healthful tips from john and vera. The days spent with vera and john are definitely my favourite holiday experience to date. If you are seeking a unique experience full of natural wonder, clean swimming, kayaking, starry nights and kind hosts who respect your privacy but make who you feel special and welcome, take some time with vera and john and soak up the goodness. Every moment was such a positive experience-from their hosting, to the unique accomodations, activities and natural beauty. It was a pleasure renewing our hearts, spirits and bodies. Thank you for being "truly" super hosts!

  • Vera and John were amazing hosts! My family and I spent the night for father's day and it was absolute heaven! We LOVED our stay and highly recommend it to anyone. The swimming pond, pool, sauna and jacuzzi was amazing and at night time we saw fire flies, and had a bon fire. Thank you John and Vera for the amazing hospitality. We will be back :)

  • We spent a summer weekend at Vera's boxcar. The boxcar and its surrounding area were very tranquil and relaxing for us. The boxcar looked exactly as listed and described. It was clean and cozy. We enjoyed barbecuing and basking in the sun in the front porch. The beautifully landscaped garden served as a natural play yard for my two-year-old. We kayaked in the spring fed lily pond, hiked the trail and learned about different plants and animals. We also had fun playing in the indoor pool many times inside Vera's house, which was located at the same premise. The chemical-free pool water felt clean and refreshing. Vera was very welcoming and thoughtful about our needs. She was an environmentalist and advocate for healthy and chemical-free living. Communication was quick and easy. The cottage was conveniently located. Wasaga beach was only 30 minutes away and it was close enough to many shops and restaurants. It was a great getaway and retreat to the nature for city people like us. I would recommend this place to families with small children.

  • I can't say enough about how incredible our time at the cottage was! From cooking delicious meals in the incredible kitchen to hanging out in the hot tub, to playing board games with the family, we couldn't have asked for more! We were a group of 12 and there was no shortage of space - the bedrooms are all spacious and beautiful, and the views of the lake are surreal. In truth, the pictures in the listing do not do justice to the true beauty of the home and property. Ron had accommodated to all of our needs, he even went as far as to help arrange a day of skiing and recommended amazing hiking trails nearby. Ron made himself very accessible throughout our stay and really went above and beyond to ensure me and my group had an amazing time at his family cottage! Thanks Ron, can't wait to come back!

    Isaac2017-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Ron's place was fantastic! The pictures dont quite do it justice its actually bigger than it seems. Everything we needed like towels, cooking equipment etc., was provided. It's right on the lake with a great view. We were there while it was snowing and with the lake frozen it was beautiful and good fun to sit out in the hot tub. id imagine itd be great in the summer too with the lake so close. All in all it was a great place to stay and id highly recommend the place!

    David2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Overall, a very positive experience: -Communication is fast, helpful and positive -Description of the place is accurate -Arrival went very smoothly. Host wowed us with set up for lunch table and complimentary bottle of wine! Totally unexpected, got us in a festive mood right away. -Kitchen is modern, with top of the line appliances. Cooking experience was so pleasurable, that we ate more than we intended :) Well equipped with lots of beautiful staff. Beyond expectation! -Beds are comfortable, the linens are so soft that you can't wait to slide in and close your eyes. High quality bed sets, pillows etc. -Bathrooms are simple and very pleasing. Clean, towels are white! Towels for the hot tub were also provided. -We spend most of the time between the big cottage style dinning table, hot tub, building snow castle on the backyard and nearby slopes skiing and snowboarding. -A very relaxing and fun weekend for 3 families with lots of kids. -Spacious, very homey, cozy, exactly how a cottage should be.

    Evgenia2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had truly an amazing experience at Ron's cottage. This place is spotless clean, cozy but elegant, super homey, it had everything you could imagine needing at a home and beyond, beautiful view of the lake, super comfortable beds and fresh towels and linens. I can't say enough how amazing this cottage was, great vibe, and definitely recommend it to anyone who's looking for a getaway. Location was also really convenient a very short drive from Toronto. Ron was also very fast and great at communication throughout the whole process.

  • We had a wonderful week here. Barbecues, swimming, kayaking, roasting marshmallows. Very kid friendly. They even had water shoes and a puddle-jumper life vest that fit my two year-old perfectly! Perfect place for a family gathering. We missed out on the farmers market in Orrilia because of our arrival date but enjoyed our visit to the town. All in all a fabulous place!

  • Our second time staying at Suzanne's beautiful cottage and definitely not the last. Thoroughly enjoyed the indoor fireplace and bathtub and am already looking forward to going back in a few months. Thank you!

    Julia2016-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Place was amazing, beautifully decorated, really well kept and close to everything you need. Beautiful area and a great getaway from the city. Suzanne was quick to communicate and took the reservation on short notice without issue.

    Matt2015-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • My first experience using airbnb could not have been any better. Suzanne's cozy cabin was exactly as described. She has done an amazing job with the space. Everything is high end and the bathroom is beautifully decorated. We had a great weekend and the kids really enjoyed roasting marshmallows on the fire pit. The beach was only about a 3 min walk and is great for kids. Water is clear and shallow with a sandy bottom. I would love to stay again. Thanks Suzanne!

    Peter2015-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at this gem of a property. The egg shaped bath was awesome and the three minute walk to the beach was beautiful.

    Rebecca2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our time at Suzanne's place, especially a good read by the fire. Thanks for sharing your place Suzanne!

    Blossom2017-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time staying at Suzanne's! We instantly felt at home and spent the weekend hiking, wandering along the beach and sitting in front of the fire. It's a warm, peaceful, cosy space and she's done a wonderful job with the renovation. She was very quick to help us deal with any questions and we wouldn't hesitate at all to recommend her home to any interested guests. The winter was the perfect time to take advantage of all that the home and the surrounding area has to offer. 5 stars!

    Andrew2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a perfect little getaway place to stay at, very warm and comfortable, and if you are in to little cute decors, this one packs a bunch!

    Zico2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Suzanne's home is exactly as it's described. It's a lovely cottage that was perfect for our stay. We had everything and more we needed to make our visit comfortable. Loved the tasteful decorations, the unique design, the stocked kitchen (especially since we love to cook) and the wonderful bathtub and fireplace. We stayed in the winter (for our first ice fishing trip) so we didn't get to enjoy the backyard. But I suspect that would be an added bonus for anyone staying as there is a large deck that's naturally shaded by a tree that the deck surrounds and a deep backyard. And for a decadent treat, take a 5 minute drive down the road to Bruno's Bakery... Amazing!!!!

Inspired by Scandinavian meets modern design this apartment is located on the first floor of our home, nestled amongst the trees in the East End of Barrie. Minutes away from restaurants, beaches and bars this boutique like suite is ideal for travellers looking for the relaxation of a cottage with the amenities of the city.
We named the space after my Grandfather who has always had a curiosity for the world around him. Road trips are amongst his favourite hobbies and when we started designing a space for others to enjoy on their adventures, we couldn't help but be reminded of his tenacious ability to go out and explore the country. Being a skilled woodworker we decided to pay tribute to his passion and build most of the furniture you see in the space by hand using journals he passed on to us. The Karl Heinze is a passion project for us and reminds us to always explore our surroundings. The main room and bedroom both have big bright windows that gaze upon lush greenery and big beautiful trees. Wanting to give our guests an option to cook food, we constructed a kitchen-like space with all of the necessary tools to make simple meals. Although this is not a full kitchen, you will find dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, spices, a mini fridge, an electric cook top, a toaster oven, a crockpot, kettle and coffee maker. We chose Belgian linens to cover the bed and turkish towels for the bathroom to give you the very best in comfort. We designed and made the furniture with a Scandinavian minimalistic appeal.
  • This was my first Air BnB experience and Adam and Sarah made it such a great experience. Communication was great, check in was effortless and the space was perfect. Super quaint and cozy with everything you need for a weekend getaway. You can tell they both put a lot of time and dedication into the space. If we have to come to Barrie again, I'll definitely book with Adam and Sarah!

    Heather2018-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely love every minute of my stay here. So much so that I extended for another night! The room is beautifully designed with every detail carefully thought of. Sarah is such an amazing host. So kind and thoughtful and always responsive if you have any questions. Looking forward to staying here again!

    Sheryl2016-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Can’t say anything negative about the whole experience. You’ll love the space, especially the bathroom.

    Wesley2018-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah and Adam were ideal hosts. Sarah made sure we knew about good restaurants and beaches and bike rides in the area, and that we had a comfortable stay in their beautiful, cozy place. We had a very restful and enjoyable time, and it was great to have bicycles for riding around. Thanks, Sarah and Adam!

    Jennifer2017-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend Adam & Sarah's place!

    Merin2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • The place is worth staying.I got a great view of the lake also very private in the back just seeing the beautiful trees in the snow. I suggest if anybody is going to check it out. Make sure you have winter tires though if you're going up there in the snow because their parking lot it's hard to drive up. Well-maintained place if you're looking for privacy that's a great place to be.

  • Cozy, soulful and warm lakeside cottage with a private dock into the water - offering one of the most serene and peaceful views I've seen. Lovely place, and was greatly equipped with all the necessities. Fire pit too! Cindy was always available for any questions or concerns I had, although there weren't many, seeing as all instructions and guides were spot-on from the get-go. Thanks Cindy!

  • •sThe basic kitchen equipment was barely enough for our party of four and sometimes in a bad state. •sFrequently a very weak to no telephone signal. •sNeither TV signal/channels nor (wireless) internet. •sOnly one seating couch for three persons. •sToilet paper may not be flushed. •sThe owner wants you to take off your shoes inside the house.

    Paul2017-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great view. Quite and peaceful location. But the screen door does not work, so be careful about the flies coming into the house. Also, somehow we were made pay more than the listed price-be careful about that.

  • Good place and nice people

    Steve2016-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our time at Cindy's cottage. It is very quiet and peaceful and offers a beautiful view on Lake Simcoe. We really appreciated the back yard and its deck and enjoyed the canoes. For an even more confortable stay, I would suggest equipping the house with a washing machine.

    Fanny2016-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Home was as advertised and worked out great for our 3 day ice fishing trip. The lake access through the backyard was great to drive our snowmobiles right onto the ice. The house was clean and plenty of room for our group of 6 guys. Will definitely keep this place in mind if we plan another trip.

    Scott2018-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Cindy's place was awesome. Right by the lake. Very nice views. Cozy and quiet. Perfect for family and friends to relax. I'm definitely coming back.

    Tatiana2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures don't do the place justice - great garden and even though the weather wasn't great for our stay the cottage had a cosy feel and we enjoyed ourselves. It's a great place for a group of people! The only one downfall was the lake - while it looked picturesque it wasn't ideal for swimming, it was quite shallow and muddy. But apart from that - no real faults! Would recommend.

This one bedroom suite is cozy and comfortable, with a pullout couch in the little livingroom area. It is walking distance to Bass Lake and 20 minute drive to Mt St Louis Moonstone and also to Casino Rama.
Bass Lake Retreat is a unique property. This Spanish villa is our home, but the Suite is a seperate unit with it's own entrance.
We love the area here. We are a short walk to the beach at Bass Lake. The Provincial Park, and Scout Valley walking trails are nearby. The West Orillia sports complex (with beautiful Tennis courts) is 3 km away. We are also only 2 km from shopping. We have the best of both worlds! (email hidden). Mount St. Louis Moonstone and Horseshoe Valley are 20-30 minutes away. There is also a great takeout place (or eat on the patio) nearby to get homemade meals, pizza, sandwiches and sweets called Ciao Chow Ciao.
  • Had a great quiet and relaxing week here. The lake is a quick few minute walk and the water was great for swimming. Barb was quick to bring us anything we needed. Thanks for the stress free week.

    Joanne2015-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Barb's place at Bass Lake, is perfect and we really enjoyed our stay there. It was cosy, clean, private and quiet. Barb was lovely and greeted us upon arrival. I would highly recommend Barb's place. Would love to return again soon.

    Deborah2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • I had the opportunity to meet Barb on my second visit to Bass Lake Retreat. She was a warm, friendly and accommodating host. Very clean, comfortable and private space to stay in Orillia!!!

    Kelly2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect. We enjoyed our time here and will stay again! The pictures are totally accurate, but its even nicer in person. Beautiful location and convenient to town and stores and restaurant just outside the city of Orillia, so it still has the resort country feel. We did not get a chance to meet Barb, but we met her husband who was very nice. Un it is well stocked, and we didn't need anything extra. I think most people would be very satisfied. I prefer a bed a little more firm, and this one was very soft (still comfy) but its a matter of personal preference only and not a big issue.

    Rebecca2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Barb's suite is cozy, clean and well equipped, not to mention it's proximity to the lovely Bass Lake National park. We really enjoyed our stay!

    Vera2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Had a very beautiful stay. There is a view of the lake (which surprised me) from the outside patio. Small touches like muffins, cream and milk in the fridge for coffee in the morning made it cozy and welcoming. The place was spotless and very easy to find off of the highway. It is about a 10 min walk to bass lake and if you keep walking up the road you’ll get to a provincial park where you can take a beautiful quite stroll.

    Annette2018-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay. Will definitely be back.

    Candace 2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Barb provided immediate confirmation and responses to our queries . The location is ideal for the Orillia area and all your retail needs. The residence is walking distance to Bass Lake with a lovely aspect. She provides every thing needed for short stays in the area. We will definitely book again when the need arises.

Professional style hospitality meets a place to call home. Modern boutique hotel interior... for a fraction of the price. “Light, bright and airy” has been quoted by most guests. "A modern tailored look" by another. Come see for yourself, I'm at your service. Gleaming hardwood floors, 2 big-screen TV's, private entrance... a real home-away-from home. Barefoot clean! Professional housekeeping standards are maintained.
Large, bright, second floor 1 bedroom apartment with windows on three sides.
We’re in the heart of old Barrie within walking distance of the downtown core and waterfront. It's an older established neighbourhood, on a tree lined street. It's remarkably quiet at night considering we're downtown. There’s easy access to Highway 400 but far enough away from the noise. There's a large park and tennis courts steps away from the house. Downtown Barrie is a 1 minute walk away and is a showcase for what a revitalized waterfront community can be. With its vibrant downtown, 3 beaches, waterfront parks, marina, pubs and great restaurants (almost any kind of food choice can be found here!) you will never get bored. Because we are centrally located, you can be anywhere in town in less than 15 minutes. Barrie-licious (a taste-sampling event hosted by participating restaurants) takes place in February and is a real treat... not to be missed.
  • Mark's place was fantastic. Spacious, clean, nice apartment. Hope to stay here again next time in town!

    Chris2018-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is very big. It's near the lake and close to downtown with shops and restaurants. The contact with Mark is very good. It's clean with a comfortable bed and enough towels. It gaves you more than expected. You will enjoy your stay.

    Familie2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mark's place was a complete hotel-house experience. I felt in home however with some hotel benefits such as weakly cleaning, towel changing and things to eat and drink at the refrigerator for a affordable price. The place is really well located. It is a walking distance from downtown and for the bus terminal. Around the location there are restaurants, licor store, delicatessen, a natural market. The house is fully furnished and equipped. There are two TVs, one in the leaving room and another in the bedroom. By the way, the bed room be is delightful. If you enjoy cooking the basic utensils to prepare a meal are available. Mark is a great hotelier. Very kind and pleasant he was always available to try to help you in the best way that he can. If you are going to Barrie and need a place, don't hesitate to contact Mark if this place has availability.

    Alvaro2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • When we arrived Mark was there ready waiting for us with the apartment looking spotlessly clean. He recommended restaurants in all different price ranges, gave us directions to the local supermarket and gave us a few leaflets and a map for the area. There is a nice, but quite busy beach within less than a 10 minute walk but if you are willing to walk further (30mins) there are 2 other secluded beaches which are smaller but lovely! Some nice restaurants and bars are around in the downtown area - especially one bar called Hooligans which has a rooftop bar overlooking the lake. We were definitely made to feel welcom - Mark want very good to replying to any queries we had promptly. I would definitely recommend Parkside View - faultless!

    Sophie2016-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is the best place I've stayed at in Barrie and I've been to half a dozen so far. I'll be back for sure. Mark is an amazing host.

  • Had a fabulous weekend stay! Everything was great and just as pictured/described, the place was gorgeous and Mark was a great host. Would definitely stay again!

    Cassi2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Mark was out of station but called up to make sure that there was everything that we needed to be ready on arrival. All the information that we required was provided to us beforehand, and there was no confusion. The place was well kept, and had everything that we required for our stay, and more. Mark has an eye for design and that shows in the way the house has been kept. Every small detail for a comfortable stay has been taken care of. The house is close to downtown and minutes from the lovely waterfront, and to a variety of restaurants. Thanks, Mark for making our stay at Barrie memorable.

    Preran2016-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Mark was a great host! We stayed for a month and never wanted for anything. Mark was very accommodating and takes pride in the presentation of his home both inside and out. We both enjoyed our stay and recommend him and his home to future guests. Thank you again for everything Mark, especially the weekly treats!

  • Hameda es una persona muy preocupada y presente para que tu estancia en su hogar sea lo más comodo posible. El barrio era precioso, muy tranquilo con lugares maravillosos como para salir a caminar.

  • Hameda was friendly and welcoming. The listing was exactly as described, in a quiet and safe neighbourhood. I highly recommend staying here!

    Amanda2016-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Hameda's place one night, on my way early in the morning in Wasaga Beach the next day. Hameda was lovely: both friendly and accommodating. The room was nicely decorated, very clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was spotless. The house is in a subdivision at the south end of Barrie, a five minute drive from Highway 400. It's a quiet neighbourhood. There is parking available in her front driveway for your car. I arrived at 9pm and left at 7am, so I didn't get to know the area much more than driving through. The price is very good, and the quality was high. If you're looking for a quiet, clean place to stay overnight in Barrie, this is a nice place.

Welcome to Aisy Cottage. Aisy is archaic for easy which perfectly describes the quiet restful atmosphere of this quaint cottage. Casual and comfortable. An affordable cottage experience conveniently located in Belle Ewart, Innisfil. Excellent for children of all ages and we love our furry friends. Sorry folks, no satellite but then again, you'll be too busy at the lake! WiFi and T.V. with an assortment of DVD's and popcorn supplied, of course!
This is such a great location for young families or couples. We are the fourth house up from a small public beach and the cottage backs onto a small park with swings, and a covered sitting area. We have outdoor seating for 6 and a fire pit. We provide a small charcoal bbq. Attractions to the area include Sunset Raceway - Saturday nights (excellent buffet). Monto Reno Marina which has a lovely outdoor cafe and will rent boats. Innisfil Public Beach, Georgian Downs Casino and Horse Racing, Antique Roadshow and 400 Flea Market and much more.
Small quiet village setting but 10 minutes will take you into Innisfil which has become quite the bustling community.
  • Chalet très propre et bien aménager, bonne emplacement (calme, près de la baie, d'un parc pour enfant et d'un terrain de basket ball). Nous avons adorer notre expérience merci beaucoup.

    Eric2017-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Sonja’s place was conveniently located by the water and fun activists in Innisfil. Unfortunately the cottage itself had a couple issues.. the heating was almost non existent along with the water pressure in the shower. The dust was rather everywhere and allergies arose. Don’t look under the bed if you’re staying here until the end of your trip.

    Oriana2018-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a quaint cottage and well equipped with almost everything you will need. Check in and check out were easy. The heating wasn’t working well and we had to keep ourselves warm by wearing layers inside the cottage.

    Puja2018-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • A nice little no frills getaway. Close to the water. Great for dogs. Very dog friendly.

    Melody2018-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • While Sonja was great with providing info for us prior to check in, as well as assisting us with turning the heaters on once we arrived, we were, all-in-all, quite disappointed with our first Air B&B experience. The stove tops were dirty with food on the stove and lots of food in the burners. We had to hand wash all cutlery and plates before using. There was not enough papertowel and dishtowels (i think they were dishtowels) were non-absorbing. We loaded the dishwasher at night and in the morning, only to find that it had a very old dishtab in it and was broken. It would not turn on. The bottom of it was missing and there were wires freely out at the bottom. The bedrooms were clean as far as we could tell. The bathroom shower was awful. It just trickled water (no exaggeration). Also, the shower curtain rod is not secure and fell twice (one time on one of our guests). When we checked in, the home was very cold and, after a day of ice fishing, we were eager to warm up. Extra towels are provided in the closet. However, the one I pulled out was COVERED in animal fur (cat? dog?) and not only grossed me out, it also triggered allergies. We tidied up the next morning, made our beds, folded blankets, and grouped all the garbage together. I wish I had an accurate reading of the place before visiting, though; we would have stayed elsewhere, unfortunately.

    Kaitlyn2018-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Sonja's place was nice and cozy. It was a bigger place compared to what was on the picture and exceeded our expectation. She was very accomodating with requests and inquiries. Everything was clean including the washroom and towels were provided. Just a (Website hidden by Airbnb) not probably common to most rental cabins but it will be better to have a fan. In days when it's humid and raining, there's not so much air coming inside so it was a bit hot. Overall, it's a good place to stay outside of the city

    Louise2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and cosy .. perfect for a small vacation

    Amir2018-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • It's a quiet and a perfect place to spend a vacation. Sonja is a great hostess, quick to respond and very accommodating. House is clean, spacious and well maintained. you have everything you are looking for. We visited with a kid and pet and Sonja had kept chest of toys, baby float, life west and some goodies in frigde. we enjoyed private beach few steps away from home, small park behind the backyard and bbq at night. Even innisfil beach and other beaches are minutes drive away. We wish we could have had longer vacation to spend in such a beautiful place !!

This place was so warm and inviting. Absolutely spotless and the bed was amazing. This place looks and feels brand new. Her welcome note was an amazing touch. Pam has had my favorite place and is hands down my favorite house. Can't wait to return as soon as possible. If I could give 10 stars I would.

  • Pam’s place was AMAZING! I came for a quick getaway for my birthday and I had a fabulous time! Pam was so helpful and friendly and gave me so many tips of local places to visit and suggestions for nightlife in Barrie. I was greeted with beautiful birthday roses and I didn’t know it was possible ..but her place looked EVEN BETTER in person. It’s a beautiful space and so close to the water. Pam made my experience one to remember and I can’t wait to go back in the summer. If you’re thinking about booking, don’t wait this is a gem nothing less of spectacular and a booking you won’t regret!! Thanks for everything Pam 🙂

Our cozy cabin is across the street from beautiful Lake Simcoe and Innisfil Park and Beach! A short walk to all amenities in town, just 20 minutes to Barrie and 50 minutes to Toronto. Enjoy kitchenette with hotplate, microwave WiFi and super comfy queen bed!
The cabin is located in the Alcona section of town Town of Innisfil. Alcona is a friendly and close knit beach community that offers all the advantage of being at the beach and beautiful Lake Simcoe, along with the benefits of having grocery stores, coffee shops, a liquor store, lunch and breakfast places all close-by. You can even enjoy drop-in yoga sessions right on the beach directly across the street from the cabin every Sunday morning @ 9am through to early November! Being so close to the lake and park means opportunities to enjoy nature and your surroundings year-round. While summer brings crowds of sun-worshipping families, October brings a quiet time for meditation and walks along a gorgeous lake, surrounded by fall colours. Winter brings another influx of adventurers who love to spend weekends ice fishing, skiing or snowmobiling, while the spring brings cyclists, walkers and joggers ready to stretch their limbs after a long winter. The best part about this place is that it is conveniently nestled in an incredible region known as Simcoe County. Simcoe County is a wonderful place to explore year-round. In summer there are the exquisite lakes, of course, and you can find beaches in Innisfil Beach Park, along Barrie's waterfront, or you can venture further to explore Balm or Wasaga Beaches, for example. The county is dotted with great fishing spots and you can rent a fishing boat or pontoon within ten minutes of the cabin. Simcoe county is also a great agricultural hub, with a vast array of farmer's markets and every kind of farm from honey producers to organic apple orchards. Golfers have their pick of pristine courses throughout the area, including Innisbrook Golf Course, Big Bay Point and Innisfil Creek Golf Club. If you enjoy fast cars you can check out the Sunset Speedway, you can dune buggy or mini golf at Shanty Bay or go hot air ballooning with the Barrie Flying Club! Even as fall approaches, you can rent a bicycle or other all terrain vehicle to enjoy the sights -- on your own or as part of a guided tour. You can ride an antique steam train in Tottenham, go for a scenic horseback ride or have fun with the whole family at Chappell Farms' annual fall festival. You can explore the Scenic Caves at Blue Mountain or go Treetop Trekking in Snow Valley. In winter there are plenty of places to ski, snowboard or snow-tube, including: Snow Valley; Horseshoe Valley; Mount St. Louis Moonstone or Blue Mountain. You can go dog sledding at Wind Drift Kennel or snowmobiling along our numerous groomed trails all across the region. Ice fishing is an increasingly popular sport, and you'll have prime access to the frozen lake just steps from the cabin. This is just a taste of what our area has to offer. Come on out and see for yourself!
  • Really cute and cozy tiniest cabin we have ever stayed in! Loved the ambiance. Good location minutes away from the beach but no privacy at the front. It was too hot inside in spite of fans. Thanks for the lovely stay

    Andrea2016-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely and cozy place. So close to the Innisfil beaches. Good for couples who want to spend their weekends with sun and swimming. Thank you, Alessandra.

  • We had a great time! Cabin had everything we need. Very close to the beach. Great location. We didn't meet Alessandra but she was very responsive via text and had everything ready for us when we arrived!

  • We definitely enjoyed our stay at this very adorable cabin! The locations was perfect just a short drive to grocery stores etc. Also, Just a short walk to the beach. Would definitely book again with Alessandra.

    Tina2017-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Cabin is quaint and cosy for two persons. The location is perfect in the sense that it is literally steps away from the numerous beaches across Lake Simcoe and a short 20 minute local drive to Barrie. Minutes away from the cabin are grocery stores and an LCBO. That being said, there were challenges with this cabin. To begin with, there were numerous spiders inside the cabin - both in the kitchen and in the bathroom. Secondly, the cabin proved to be unbearably humid inside. The only thing provided was a lone fan and it did not provide any relief. Moreover, the ceiling fan was slow and did not help either. The host was very helpful in answering questions on arrival. However, when we shared the condition of spiders and the heat in the evening, the host had left her phone at home and the cabin proved too challenging for us to stay. As such we ended up leaving the same night we had arrived. Given the cost of this cabin, some improvements are required for future tenants.

  • Lovely little cabin, very cozy and nicely winterized! Alessandra and her husband were attentive hosts and quick to replace a light bulb that burned out on us. Cannot beat the location, right at the beach yet still close to all amenities down the road. We really liked the wood ceilings and the clean and fresh white linens and towels. Great water pressure in the shower. Make sure you bring some essentials if cooking anything (oil, spices, etc.), since the kitchen comes equipped with basic appliances/dishes/tools and only salt, pepper, and coffee. We did think the cleaning fee to be a little bit too high, given there was dust and dirt around the perimeter of the room and the small size of the cabin. However, we would still recommend to anyone wishing to stay right on Lake Simcoe in a very cute little place!

It is conveniently located on the city bus route and is a short drive to Horseshoe and Snow Valley Resorts.
The apartment is a spacious studio, with a sunroom that has a beautiful view of Kempenfelt Bay. The kitchen is equipped with a full fridge, convection oven, dishes, induction burners and coffee maker.
The apartment backs onto the North Shore Trail. It is a 20 minute walk to downtown and five minutes walk to Johnson beach.
  • This is a very basic, simple space. I stayed here overnight with my 8 yo. The hosts were ultra-responsive. It was easy to find with my GPS. There’s no tv, but the hosts provide a wifi password that allows you to surf or stream at your leisure. For the money, ya can’t ask for better; I’d stay here overnight again in a heartbeat!

Cozy cabin with kitchen, living area, two full beds and futon. Directly across the street from Innisfil Park beaches and Lake Simcoe. Walk to all amenities, 20 minutes to Barrie, 50 minutes to Toronto. Enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, strolling or just relaxing! • Alessandra has a cute cottage in a nice location across from Lake Simcoe and a pretty park. We enjoyed our stay.

    Kimberly2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just as cozy as the pictures! It's literally steps away from the park and beach where I spent every day in the warm sun. As well everything you need is right on the same street. Alessandra offered assistance anytime I needed it, but really everything I needed in the cottage was there or a short walk or drive away that I had all I needed. Oh and if you like to fish bring your fishing gear, I wish I had as there is a dock near by that many fish off of. Will definitely be back.

    Paul2015-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Everything is very old, especially the kitchen. Not the best place to stay during the cold weather, electrical heater was enough for a bedroom, large room required burning wood in the wood stove. There was small mouse and spiders. Convenient location.

    Pavel2018-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Several other reviews have already stated rustic, that is true, however, still a great little cottage. Very easy to find, and steps away from Lake Simcoe and Innisfil beach park, which is a perfect place to take an adventurous toddler. We were very thankful to have access to wi-fi at the cottage as well during the thunderstorm we had while on our stay, to entertain that same toddler. Overall, a great stay, we would love to return.

    Michael2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Right across from the beach and a great children's playground. Kids loved finding shells and playing in the water. The cabin is basic - as advertised, so no surprises - very good for a family vacation. We would consider coming back.

    Andres2016-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is a little older and has a slanted floor that took some getting used to. Overall it had everything we needed for a weekend away at a great price. Close to the beaches, board walk and park, and just a drive away from grocery stores, LCBO, and shops.

    Ashley2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • It was just a not as clean as we expected it to be but apart from that the location was great and the lake was great. There were also only two towels. The roundabout, the main view, not the best scene but it was surprisingly quiet. Speaking of quiet, the fridge does make some noise; it sounds like what I can only describe as distant fireworks being fired off. Some of the photos are a little off and not accurate but not that much of a big deal. The slant was a little strange to get used to. Bring a pair of "house slippers"! Thanks for having us Alessandra! Will come back for the lake and cute cottage!!

    Magali2018-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Overall, the location is amazing, literally across the street from a beach, and an amazing lake. It's easy to find, and has two bedrooms. We had an issue Sunday, but was resolved to our satisfaction with the host, Alessandra.

  • Inna and Shimon's place was the perfect getaway for my friends and I. The home was very clean and well stocked, and the sun room was amazing! The location is great as it is only an hour away from the city and very quiet and peaceful - star gazing was a highlight of our trip, all while still being a 10 minute drive to anything you need. The beds are super comfortable and being able to watch netflix and you-tube on the TV was perfect for a scary movie night. Shimon and Inna are wonderful hosts who responded quickly and were very understanding when we were a little late checking out. I would definitely recommend this as a nice getaway from city life as it is not too far, an amazing value and perfect for someone looking to relax. Will definitely be coming back here! Thank you Shimon and Inna! -Mathew Chou

  • Everything was very close, even the beach . Really good communication. I would strongly recommend Dmitry and we will sure go back to his house.

    Alice2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely everything you need for a weekend away, house sleeps lots of people, and overall kitchen and carpets were clean. Main complaint was the musty smell of the cottage

    Denine2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great, extremely spacious and the bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean. Dmitry was very responsive and was even able to answer questions during our stay. The only issue we faced was dirty dishes, dirty carpet (which was only in the living room), some unwashed blankets (however, he had plenty of extra washed ones we used and the oven really needed a clean up. The oven was my biggest issue, seeing as we began to bake food and smelt something burning. Once I put a flashlight on I saw the oven needed some deep cleaning. Aside from this minor set back my stay was absolutely perfect. It is very close to the beach, the backyard is enormous, has a fire pit with firewood available, house itself was very very spacious and very easy to find! I highly recommend this place, even got one of my friends to book for a weekend next month!

    Laavanya2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great spacious place!

    Dien2018-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • The property was accurate per the listing. The house is very spacious with plenty of space (our rental was for 20 people). The house is located very conveniently with a 5 minute drive to your closest grocery store or retailer and beach. The washrooms were clean and functional, wi-fi was handy for the children, and the kitchen had everything we needed for our stay. Note for future guests - Make sure your all your garbage is in the garage prior to leaving as the previous guests left one bag and it was scattered across the garage entrance. Overall, our stay was very positive, our expectations were met and we would come back in the future.

  • This is a lovely and newly furnished space attached to a home. It was quiet and easy to access. The bed was very comfortable and nice touches with soap and towels. Would stay again.

  • Great place to stay, just a short walk or drive to the lake.

    Christine2018-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • + Very aesthetically pleasing, remote enough that traffic noise is never a bother, but not so remote that you feel stranded from necessities on an extended stay. + Neighboring diner is great quality, though outside of that you're looking at a drive for amenities. + Hosts were very friendly, let me receive mail, and reminded me of garbage pickup dates, but otherwise left me to my own unless I needed them. (The soaps and shampoos are freaking amazing too, by the way. Do accept those when offered.) - Wi-Fi cut out a few times a week, getting as bad as a couple times a day near the tail end of my stay. - Hooking up the hot tub would be a huuuge plus and increase the value offering quite a bit. It was taunting me the whole time. - The hosts have kids. They're often quite loud during the afternoon when they're not at school. Obviously something I can't quite fault them for, but something to keep in mind, unless you plan on being out and about during these times or have something to block the noise. Overall, a pleasant stay and I'd go again if I needed another personal retreat that felt like home. A couple improvements would definitely take this up to a 5.

  • Good value and comfortable accommodations that provided what we needed for the weekend. Bed was very comfortable and place was clean and recently renovated. Host provided information and details in a clear and efficient manner and was very thoughtful to provide us with a flashlight during the wind storm that took the area by surprise!

  • A really nice little place by the water, the rental was clean and comfortable.

  • Great house. Has everything you need. Internet is top notch, beds are comfortable, kitchen supply is in top condition, and host communication is instant.

  • Great value in this cottage when you consider the location across the road from beach and the cleanliness of the cottage. Very comfortable family room where the TV is located. Everything you need is here and its a great spot for a young family to stay.

    Nathan2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Rena's house is a great location with the beach right outside the house. We spent as much time as we can outside, which was beautiful. Leonard's Beach is great for swimming and the waters were really shallow which was great for the kids. The bonfire was lots of fun too with melting marshmallows and making smores. Evenings were great for movie night with Netflix and crave tv subscriptions on the TV. We had everything we need including some board games and toys for the kids, which was very nice. We got groceries and cooked meals in the house, which is really all you need. Had a good time and would be definitely going next year if we can and hopefully the construction will be over by then, making the place even better.

    Hulan2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • It was a nice clean cottage, very close to the beach and with the kids playground right on the beach. With the good weather - it can make a very good stay. The host notified us of the construction one day before the scheduled start of the trip - otherwise there is no info on this in the ad, however I believe it was already happening there for at least couple weeks if not more. The construction occupies the entire road in the front of the house and makes it difficult to come in the driveway with the car. Also the backyard is off limits - this is not mentioned in the ad and we were planning to use it. Otherwise when the construction is done - can be a great place to stay!

    Olga2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rena's place I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to escape the stresses of life and be able to relax in total comfort. Beautiful place with a stunning view of the lake and beach area.

    Steven2018-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time, Rena was very accommodating with our stay. She gave us our privacy and kept in touch if we needed her help. The place is clean and cozy!

    Mia2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful long weekend stay at Rena's cottage with myself, my young daughter, and my mom. The location was ideal (we loved the convenience of the beach, playground, and picnic area just steps from the cottage), the proximity to Barrie (where we headed for an outing when it rained - so much to keep kids and adults entertained there!), and the cottage was comfortable, well-equipped, and everything we hoped for. The highlight was dealing with Rena - she was such a pleasure to correspond with, provided timely responses to the booking and questions along the way, was accessible during our stay and responded promptly to an inquiry, and took steps to ensure we had a seamless check-in. Very comfortable cottage with everything you need! Thanks Rena. Hope to return again!

Big TV with lots of movie and tv show choices, fast Wi-Fi. Beautiful upgraded kitchen. Easy to check in and out. Fantastic location near the lake. Kaleem left us baskets with towels and soaps. Very thoughtful and beautiful. There were no pots or pans for cooking but there was a baking tray, as well as all cutlery and flatware. I needed a sharp knife to cut a potato and Kaleem hand-delivered it to me within minutes of me asking. Absolutely a wonderful, warm, thoughtful, and communicative host; would highly recommend this airbnb to anybody looking for a beautiful place near the park.

We had the most wonderful experience with Brian & Cindy! Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed and given a quick tour of the place. Brian was very warm & accommodating, making us feel right at home. We attended a wedding at The Gibson Centre (within walking distance) that evening and were treated to a beautiful home cooked breakfast the next morning. Communicating with Brian couldn't be easier, he went above and beyond our expectations! Thanks again Brian & Cindy, we are so glad we chose to stay with you. If given the opportunity, we'd love to stay here again. Cheers, R&G
