  • We really enjoyed staying in Lance's treehouse! Beautiful city and mountain views! Lance was a cordial host- providing local recommendations and a history of the house.

  • The place was a gem. It is located on the hills above the city, and you get an unobstructed view all the way to my. Helena and Hood. To be clear to those who rent, the rental is for the entire downstairs area and Lance lives on the second level. Lance was great about communicating and gave us our space to enjoy our stay. He also made coffee for us in the morning and made us feel very welcome! Would definitely recommend.

  • Couldn't have asked for a more beautiful and unique place to stay for our first visit to Portland. Beautiful neighborhood, fascinating house, and wonderful host. Thanks, Lance!

    Benjamin2016-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing house up in the hills with a great view out over Portland. Lance is a great host - very thoughtful and hospitable. You will need a car if planning to stay here, but it is highly recommended.

    Brian2015-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • My staying at Lance's house is enjoyable. There are few hiking tracks near the tree house (about few minutes walking). Lance is a welcoming host. He recommended few "to dos" for me and my friend. The tree house is definitely a place worth to stay in Portland.

    Mingxuan2015-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Tree House exceeded expectations: Lance, our host, extended his wit, implacable taste and a telescope for us to view the Blood Moon eclipse.

    Sean2015-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great and unique house with a magnificient view. Clean and spacious room. Lance was easy to talk to.

    슬아/Seulah2015-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing view and beautiful place. Lance was kind and kept to himself. Had we been able to stay longer, we would've loved to talk to him and get to know him. Waking up to the sunrise was perfect. I would highly recommend staying here over a nice hotel and enjoying the hiking close by.

Unique hand built cob cottage next to lg. pond w water feature. Lg. fenced and gated yard. Gentle, curving space-made from sand, straw, water and earth . Featured in multiple international publications. The floor is also earthen clay with added radiant heat. Beautiful natural light. It's truly a magical place.
It's a curvilinear earthen structure hand sculpted from water, sand, straw, and clay earth. It features a radial roof with a central pagoda-like skylight. When building the Cob, we used reclaimed and natural materials when ever possible. The insulation in the ceiling is made from pulverized reclaimed blue jeans and the floor is made from the same earthen clay. It has a Dutch door, so you can open the top part for additional ventilation. It also has air conditioning available in the warmer months and a radiant heat floor. The bed is a very comfortable double with a memory foam mattress topper. The bathroom for the cottage is in the main house, about 40 steps to the back door. Inside you’ll find a large sitting room and full kitchen as well as your bath with claw foot tub and shower. These spaces are shared with 2 Airbnb rooms in the house. If you find the bath busy, our full bath is available upstairs on the second floor.
We are located in a sweet older neighborhood in inner SE Portland, built around the turn of the century. The neighborhood is extremely walkable/bikeable, and just two blocks from one of Portland's great restaurant rows, filled with unique locally owned restaurants, coffeehouses, bars, food carts, pot shops, ice cream vendors, pizza joints, clothing retailers, yoga studios and yes, even an old-school hardware store.
  • With the cool breeze and relaxing pond babbling nearby, this cob cottage is a wonderful personal sanctuary!

    Sarah2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cottage in quiet location close to restaurants in Clinton- Division neighborhood.

    Margo2017-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • I stumbled upon this listing and knew right away that this is where I was supposed to stay when visiting Portland. As a cob builder myself, I can testify that this cob cottage was built with much skill and love. At the same time that I felt to be a solitary guest in a cabin in the woods, I was actually situated in the midst of one of Portland’s best walkable neighborhoods with access to restaurants of many cuisines, coffee shops, groceries, and transit to the rest of the city. I wish I could have had more time to chat with Chris and Jack, however, I used to live in Portland and my old buddies kept kidnapping me from my cottage my the koi pond. I did get to meet and chat with Cris one day on my way out on a venture. We had much to talk about and left much for the next time we might meet. Cris and Jack are tremendously hospitable and so is the space they have created. If you are visiting Portland, and are looking for a unique and comfortable dwelling in a great neighborhood, and if you are lucky enough for this cozy space to be available, don’t hesitate one second. It’s the best deal in town.

    Trevor2016-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • The place is adorable! Great location next to amazing food, shopping, etc. Make sure to check out Pinolo gelato on Division!

    Stefanie2016-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • Jack & Cris have an amazing property. I loved the artsy cobb cottage!! The yard is pretty and the bed was super comfortable. Nice accommodations~ the bathroom needed tidying up upon my arrival but they worked quickly to remedy that. I would recommend this to anyone that loves a magical place to stay!

    Alexandra2017-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great, unique place, convenient location, and very serene in the middle of the city. We loved the cob house and you are lucky to get a chance to stay here!

    Christina2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliantly located just off Richmond’s main street - this is a great area for local shops, art galleries, craft centres, restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Fairly easy to get into central Portland too. The room/mini house (!) was totally unique, a really interesting place to stay, and it was well thought out with all the little details that make the stay easier. A warm, cosy, great place.

    Paul2017-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great location! The neighborhood is safe, quiet and there are a lot of shops/restaurants/bars very close by. A short drive into downtown (under 4 miles). Plenty of on-street parking. Jack and Cris are very responsive, kind and easily likeable. Would definitely stay here again! We had a great trip.

This wonderful, private little gem is just a few easy walking blocks from plentiful drinking, dining, dispensing, yoga & coffee spots. You will be one block from Woodlawn Park, 2 blocks from a bus and a 5 minute drive from the Alberta Shopping and Arts District. It's all so comfortably close by, but not close enough to disturb your relaxing, sweet retreat. Come have it all while living small in this tiny, artsy home away from home!
This space was built as a Model T Garage in 1926 behind a 1915 bungalow but it has had a face lift and has taken on a new life as a cozy, warm freestanding studio made mostly from reclaimed materials. A "tiny house" if you will, sweetly positioned between fruit trees and a garden sitting area. The sleeping loft comfortably sleeps two and there is a futon below the loft where one can enjoy a book while the other naps above. Occasionally you will hear the trains in the distance which adds a touch of nostalgia and you get to wake to the relaxing clucking and cooing of the neighborhood hens as this area has a nice spattering of urban farms and lots of mature trees. For your comfort, this as a "pet dander free" space. No pets, thanks. The table pictured here has been replaced with a "garden shed" counter that houses a small, removable basin sink. There is also a rustic, rough hewn armoire to hang clothes and tuck away your backpacks. The little kitchenette corner is stocked with utensils, a two burner cooktop, a mini fridge, a microwave, coffee and a coffee press. The studio's setup is more akin to a cabin, and as many cabins go, there is no bathroom. You will be given a key to the main house so please feel comfortable enough to come in and use the facilities. By the way, it is insulated, well heated, and stocked with plenty of blankets so it is a wonderful, warm hideaway in the fall and winter months as well. Yep, snuggly wifi too. The yard is plentiful with flowers and fruit bearing trees (figs and delicious yellow plums) in the summertime, as well as an array of veggies in the gardens where you can sit amongst the trees and regroup after a hard day at Powells Books. It's within a 5 minute walk from the heart of Woodlawn which has some fantastic spots to shop, drink, dance, and dine: -Firehouse Restaurant, somewhat romantic with good service -Woodlawn Coffee House, for plenty of people watching -Breakside Brewery, to grab a bite and catch up on the game -Grand Army Tavern, have some pork with your...pork : ) -Good Neighbor Pizza, laid back & late night too -P's & Q's Market serves yummy meals and a few grocery items -The Village Ballroom, for Square Dance and Special events -Uptown Cycles, sales and repairs -Portland Girl, spa day anyone? -Greener Grasses, well-rated dispensary -Koken Market, for almost any beer you want, snacks -Café Eleven, art, coffee, lunch & some pastries -Oregon Public House, the nation's 1st nonprofit pub -The Highwater Mark, rock pub with pool & hip hop on last Fridays -Tamale Boy, authentic & delicious with lots of outside seating -Bassato Gelato, 12 rotating flavors+bagels in the morning -HighWheel Mead, open Thurs-Sunday -(Seasonally) Woodlawn Farmer's Market at Woodlawn Triangle, Sat. 10-2 Downtown is a 15 minute drive. The Alberta Arts District is also just minutes away so you can hop on a bike and be right in the middle of the jam-packed Last Thursday Art Walk or make a day of it with shopping, dinner and some delicious ice cream from the infamous Salt & Straw. Then come "home" to your quieter retreat where you can just relax and lay in the hammock.....ahhhh. And as the area is well surrounded by beautiful, mature trees, you may decide to enjoy dinner in the love seat swing under the pergola and watch the evening sky. It is a wonderful theatre for watching small bats do their sky routine in the distance. Flying in? This spot is only 10 minutes from the airport. And while in Portland, you may want some wheels! Well, this location is very close to Zipcars and you can sign up with them or Car2go on their sites in advance of your stay. Check out Turo or Getaround to grab a vehicle to tool But if you want to explore the city on two wheels, Everybody Bike Rentals or Ebikes ( electric bike rentals) are the spots to hit first (10 min. by bus). They provide helmets and locks too! ***If you don't see the dates available on the calendar that you had hoped for or if you are traveling with more than two people, please check out my other listing (#95313) which is also a private studio at the same location. It is larger and complete with a private entry and bathroom. Just ask me! Parking is close and the livin' is pretty easy. So please get that profile completed, then contact me and come kick up your heels and stay a while! Oh! P.S. Please read the description, house rules and post a pic of you in your profile beforehand just so that everyone is on the same page. Much appreciated. Cheers!
  • Very cozy and pretty place to leave. Andee prepared everything for us.

    esther2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay! Andrée was very accommodating of our late night arrival and stayed communicative throughout our stay. The place was just as pictured and feels very homey. I highly recommend!

    Sophie2016-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Andree was a great host and very friendly. She baked us cookies on the first night (so good!) and the space was a nice cozy get away in the middle of an urban center. The 8-line bus was 2 blocks away and took us downtown in 30 minutes tops, and the space is also nearby the Alberta Arts District, where there is a plethora of tasty restaurants and shops. The kitchen was fully stocked with essentials and spices so cooking a meal or two was easy to execute. Thank you Andree!

    Cindy2013-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Garden Studio is a perfect little nook to share with someone special. We enjoyed this space so much that we decided to extend our stay!

    Brian2013-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was a fantastic stay! Andreè was friendly and welcoming! The tiny house is laid out perfectly with plenty of room. The tiny house decorated with plenty of lighting. The privacy was nice and it was easy coming and going. The bathroom inside the house didn't pose any inconvenience as Andreè kept us posted if the bathroom was in use when everyone was in their respected areas.

    Alyssa2016-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very cool neighborhood. Andrée is an excellent decorator. We enjoyed our evening reading on the futon under the loft and our morning drinking coffee in the sunny backyard under the sail-shade.

    Susanna2014-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Andrée's place was great! The Garden Studio was so cute and the bed was really comfortable. I also really enjoyed sitting in the backyard garden. Everything comes as described and advertised -- no surprises or set-backs. I didn't have a car while I was in Portland but I really didn't need one. The 8 bus picks you up two blocks away and goes directly into downtown. Or you can get off a couple stops early and be right on Alberta Street. There's also a really good market/deli around the corner where you can buy $2 beers :) And if for some reason that's closed, there are some other eateries/bars just a 10 minute walk from the house. It was really a pleasant stay and the host, Andrée, was very accommodating and welcoming.

    Chrissy2014-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Andrée was a great host! The tiny house was well managed and cozy and Andrée was quick to respond to any issues that came up. There were a number of bus lines that ran within a 2 block radius of the home which was super convenient. I'd definitely recommend staying with Andrée!

With just the right amount of space for two, this studio has everything that makes a house feel like a home: a fireplace, a full kitchen, King Memory foam Bed, oak floors, handmade furniture, cable tv, and a private entrance.
This studio is a welcoming space in the center of an historic neighborhood that offers a unique perspective on the city of Portland. Ask me for in-depth info on where to go and what to see in the Irvington neighborhood, the Alberta Arts District, and other parts of Northeast Portland! Over the years, I’ve gotten to know quite a few incredible places to eat, drink, shop, and explore here. Located at the hub of some of Portland’s most interesting neighborhoods, this studio places the whole city at your fingertips. But adventure can be tiring, and the studio offers ample opportunity to put your feet up. Portland can get nippy at night, and a real wood fireplace, stocked with firewood from locally harvested and dried urban hardwood trees, is the perfect way to warm up and feel at home. The apartment has high ceilings and a great fireplace; it’s minimally decorated but has all the important things: a king bed, a couch with a coffee table, a small desk, a dresser and extra shelves, and a kitchen table. The kitchen comes fully stocked with the essentials for cooking a real meal, and the bathroom always has towels, soap and shampoo. The space is located on the first floor of a large 1910 home, which was converted to an eight-plex in the 1940s to adapt to the demands of WWII. I have lived in Irvington for 14 years and Portland for 25, and this house is one of the most unique that I’ve seen.
The Irvington neighborhood, now only a ten minute bike ride from downtown, was once a trolley-car suburb to the just-fully-developed West side. Designated a historic district by the National Register of Historic Places in 2010, Irvington is filled with early 20th century homes that have been preserved in their original states. Irvington has become a livable hub of Northeast Portland as a whole, with shops and restaurants of all kinds, within walking distance, surrounding the neighborhood. Irvington proper boasts more than a few community and culinary destinations of its own.
  • La casa es muy bonita y limpia. Todo funciona: chimenea, agua caliente, estufa... Todo. El barrio es hermoso. Parece de un cuento. El acceso al centro de la ciudad es fácil y más o menos rápido.

  • Great location. Great communication with Jason. Had fun walking to local restaurants. Thanks!

    Neil2017-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jason's apt is located in a prime location, just a short senic walk to restaurants and bars. The neighborhood is family friendly and very nice. Although it was too warm to use the fireplace the apt was very cozy. We loved that there were games to play and a fully stocked kitchen. My only suggestion is to bring your own toiletries and be prepared for a very small shower. We would definitely stay there again! Thank you Jason!

    Tera2017-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • this little studio was perfect! it was clean and quiet and in a lovely part of town. wish we could have stayed more than one night. thanks Jason!

  • Jason and Hannah are great hosts! They were very fast on our communication and they provided us with all we needed during our stay... THE PLACE IS JUST PURE AWESOMENESS!!! I really loved the style it has and the convenience of the kitchenette, I actually slept at the couch and I felt extremely well rested in the morning (can't imagine how comfortable the bed is), Thanks again and hope to see you again soon!

    Luis2018-02-14T00:00:00Z

The space is well-lit with two windows and has a back door to a beautiful garden and patio in the backyard as well as a side door to the courtyard. The location is Laurelhurst - one of Portland's oldest and most beautiful planned communities on a quiet, tree lined street within 10 minutes of the city and 15 min. from the airport. Major shopping, wonderful restaurants and one of Portland's most beautiful parks are all within walking distance. Other amenities include a private courtyard, washer/dryer in the apt., and easy walking distance to bus, train, restaurants and shopping. More information on our historic home can be found on Oregon Encyclopedia website. Search for "Brick House Beautiful". Our home has also been in "Better Home and Gardens" magazine and has been twice on the cover of "Old House Journal". If we are home when you arrive, we will be happy to give you a tour of our home and offer you a cup of tea or a glass of wine while you have complete access to our English gardens, courtyard and barbecue during your stay. We think you will be pleased if you choose to stay in the "Quaint English Garden Apartment " located in our beautiful historic home!
Laurelhurst is an historic old Portland neighborhood with beautiful homes, street trees and a huge park a few blocks away designed by the Olmsted's who designed Central Park in NYC. You will see how homes in Laurelhurst are each very different and unique from craftsmen with large porches to smaller bungalows with beautiful gardens.
  • Sue and Bob were very hospitable and their home is stunning! Don't even get me started on the garden... goals! We had a wonderful stay; their home is within a short distance of trendy restaurants and shopping. It's also near Laurelhurst Park and public transit. Def recommend.

    Mari2017-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Bob and Sue were amazing hosts. Their home is absolutely stunning, while being cozy and welcoming. They provided valuable local information and were available if we needed them. Very well located, easy to find, and beautiful. If this isn't the best rental in Portland I'd be shocked.

    Ken2015-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Like staying with family. Sue and Bob were great, their basement apartment is beautiful and has everything one would need during a short or long trip. My wife, 21 month old son, and I stayed for nearly 2 weeks. The hosts ensured we had everything we needed from a crib and booster seat to recommendations on were to eat and what to visit. The apartment is well stocked with kitchen items and even daily necessities for cooking and cleaning. The neighborhood is beautiful, there are parks close by and several bus stops within walking distance. In the past we've stayed at numerous hotels in downtown Portland that cost 3-4 times as much per night, we won't make that mistake again. Highly recommend staying here, you will not regret it. Nick, Fanny, and Magnus

    Nick2012-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our 4-night stay with Sue and Bob. Their home is lovely (thanks for the tour!), and the Laurelhurst neighborhood is charming and ideally located. Sue and Bob go out of their way to ensure that you have everything you need - a well-stocked kitchen and bathroom, comfortable bedding, and a detailed book of instructions and information. Parking is on-street, but no problem. We were consistently able to park right out front. We would absolutely recommend staying here.

    Art2015-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great time staying in Sue and Bobs place. The house was very pretty and in a great neighborhood. They were both friendly and excellent hosts.

    Matt2016-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Bob are gracious hosts. Their home is lovely and in a charming neighborhood within walking distance of public transportation and great restaurants.

    Anne2016-07-12T00:00:00Z

Everything you need is here at our brand new guesthouse loft: a luxurious, lofted queen bedroom; high ceilings with floods of natural light, a modern kitchen, full bath with heated tile, comfy sleeper sofa for extra guests, and Stumptown Coffee with organic cream. The loft rests at the back of the property, one block from bustling Division St, and short blocks from restaurants, coffeeshops, & the Woodsman Tavern, named “One of America’s Best Bars,” by Esquire Magazine.
The loft is located in our backyard in Southeast Portland. While we are only steps away if you need us, the space is very private. In fact, guests report that they forget they are in the middle of the city when they stay in our space! We live in a desirable and fun neighborhood, and parking can be tight! Guests usually find parking within a block or two of our house. At night or during busy times of the day, parking can be found within two short blocks. Guests may feel free to use our driveway for loading/unloading. We do not have a TV in the guesthouse, but offer excellent wifi access.
Our neighborhood has everything you will need, mostly within a five-minute walk! And if you want to visit a different part of the city, there is convenient public transportation around the corner. Check out excellent coffeeshops blocks away (Good Coffee and Stumptown), delicious and intimate restaurants (Bete Lukas, Mi Mero Mole, The Woodsman), or walk up to Mt. Tabor Park. If you're into yoga, there's an awesome space (Yoga Union) around the corner.
  • This was the cutest place we've been in so far. Really bright (even on those snowy, cloudy days), it was nice & cozy. Perfect size, great coffee around the corner, really dug the whole experience. Would probably go back, definitely would recommend.

    Anis2018-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • It was a pleasure staying at Laurel and Brian's place. The area was quiet but had many lovely coffee shops and restaurants to enjoy. The space itself was super clean, just as it appears in photos. Check in and out were super straight forward and the bed was SUPER comfy. All communication with Laurel and Brian was great and it was a lovely neighbourhood (make sure you go to Good Coffee!) Getting downtown was about 20-30 minutes with transit but totally doable and nice to be able to come "home" to a quiet space after long days of seeing Portland. I highly recommend staying here and will hopefully again in the future!

    Victoria2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Laurel and Brian's place was great! Very spacious for two people and four would have fit comfortably as well. It was very clean and the neighborhood was adorable with many fun places within walking distance. Everything you need is in the place making it easy and comfortable. HIGHLY recommended!

    Joel2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space with all of the comforts of home. We absolutely enjoyed the space and could tell lots of love and care were put into the building of this tiny house. Located within walking distance of great restaurants and watering holes there was plenty to explore. The hosts were very gracious and had lots of great communication. I will certainly stay here next time I'm in Portland. P.S. "GOOD coffee" right around the corner from the house is amazing! Thank you!!

    Dillon2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is AMAZING. Hands down best Air bnb experience. Laurel and Brian are super nice and attentive. Their recommendations were superb. The place is located half a block from the coolest street, where there were abundant bars and restaurants (Division street). 15 mins drive to down town Portland and the river. You could even walk there, we did. The place is super modern, minimalist clean and neat. It has all the amenities you could ever imagine. HIGHLY recommend it!

    Monica2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot express how great a stay I had at Laurel and Brian's wonderful loft space. A friend, Hailey, and I booked on relatively short notice and when we arrived we greeted by Laurel, who walked us through the house--the air conditioner, the blinds and the rest of the accommodations. Hailey and I loved the space. It is clean, new, and well put together. The bathroom has a nice sink and shower head. On the first floor there is a fold-out couch if needed and upstairs there is an incredibly soft and comfortable bed. It is a split level. Downstairs there is a couch and spacious kitchen area and upstairs there is the bed and dresser. On the first floor there is also a washer and dryer, speaker with aux input for listening, guides of Portland, and complementary coffee with a french press. I could not have asked for more. On top of all this, Laurel and Brian were very nice and accommodating. Hailey and I had a truly wonderful time exploring Portland and staying in this beautiful little home. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and would stay here again if I got the chance!!

  • We loved this place. Very cute, great value, clean and extremely cozy. Laurel and Brian were also very friendly and communicated very well. 5/5 stars would recommend!

  • Everything was fabulous with our stay. The place was very comfortable, even for a family of 4. Light, airy, perfect. Full kitchen, super hosts who genuinely care about their guests. A jewel.

Where Bali meets Portland. Come relax in this newly, beautifully designed, private mixed use accommodation. Just five short blocks from Portland's hip N Williams district. A rooftop deck.
I have a total of five rooms, each listed separately in this unique mixed-use building where I also live and work. You will enter just past the Ned Ludd front patio via a private, secure, gated entrance off of MLK at NE Failing street and follow the stairway up to the second level. This is the larger of the three rooms. Each room is newly refurbished and furnished with beautiful, responsibly sourced tropical salvage out of Indonesia and locally re-purposed wood/trim doors and windows. Your private room comes with a window, a wall-mounted flatscreen t.v., small refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, free wi-fi an armoire, an ornate sink carved out of stone, down pillows, down comforters, a king-sized posturepedic mattress and zen colored walls that might just make you think you are in... Bali?
NEPO (aka NE Portland) is hip and cool and like so many hip Portland neighborhoods–it is ever-expanding and reinventing itself. New restaurants, shops, boutiques and businesses are popping up all over. Whether you are looking for a place to lay your head for the night while you get out and explore during the day, or you are just looking for a place you can hole up and relax, we've got you covered. The options and amenities you will find here in your little oasis in NEPO are plentiful.
  • This is one of the larger rooms at Timothy's multi-unit airbnb in Northeast Portland. The location on MLK Blvd was quite good -- away from the hustle and bustle of downtown and within walking (or very short driving or ride-hailing) distance of NEPO's funky N. Williams, Alberta St and Mississippi Ave neighborhoods, all of which have that authentic Portlandia vibe (i.e. limitless brunch options). And it's still only about a 15ish-minute drive or Lyft/Uber ride downtown (we paid about $13 one-way). There's also public transit or bike rental options nearby, if that's more your bag. The room itself was nicely appointed with a king-sized bed and a few in-room amenities like a mini-fridge, microwave, sink, and a fan in case it gets a bit warm. The room does face out onto MLK Blvd, which is a pretty busy thoroughfare, although it does die down at night, and we usually sleep with earplugs anyway, so it was a non-issue. One quirk as compared to most of our other airbnb stays: shared restrooms. There are two restrooms and two private shower stalls that are shared with about 4-5 other airbnb rooms. We were a bit wary about this when booking, and although it was never inconvenient as far as access went, we would have liked to see them tended to a bit more regularly to ensure cleanliness. Other than that, it was a great place to stay and we'd certainly consider booking again if we return to Portland in the future.

  • We had a great stay with Tim. The room was just as advertised, next time were in Portland we'll stay with Tim.

    Brian2016-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Timothy's was lovely. He met us promptly - even a bit earlier than our planned check-in time - and made us feel right at home. The room was spacious, clean, and bright. Loved the little extra touches: complimentary seltzer water in the mini fridge and coffee in the morning. It's situated in a great part of town with plenty to do within walking distance. Really wish we could have stayed more than one night! Would definitely book again.

    Madeleine2015-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at NEPO. The room was just like it was pictured. Though its difficult to get a sense of the whole place from the pictures online, its a loft suite of 5 or 6 separate rooms, with separate washrooms and shower rooms. The room had its own sink, fridge and microwave. Something more like a small hotel than staying in someone's house. It was exactly what we wanted. Timothy was right next door, but we felt the privacy and autonomy of a hotel which was perfect! It was also above an excellent restaurant ned lud, which coincidently was one of the recommended restaurants from our friends who previously lived in Portland. A perfect place to relax and eat after a long drive. We'd absolutely stay there again.

    Amy2015-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great find in North East Portland. It was very close to the Venue I was attending and super easy to get to thanks to Timothy's clear instructions. The room was stylish and the King Bed was a dream. I loved the stone sink in the room. It was a very well done. Make sure you visit the wonderful coffee shop a couple of doors down. Great coffee and morning treats!!

    Laura2018-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was a well-appointed room upstairs from a restaurant - but the restaurant isn’t open late and the space is very quiet. My favorite part about it was that the blankets and pillows were almost unbelievably warm and fluffy! I was originally worried about the shared bathroom and shower space, but I never ended up having to wait for it at all, and the shower has a rain shower head and is quite nice. Each room has a sink. There are also a number of cool books in the lobby area if you’re interested. Also, if you stay here, we highly highly recommend the restaurant nearby, Ned Ludd. Probably the best meal we had in Portland, and right around the corner!

    Anqi2018-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place! Timothy provided all the info needed to easily find it, get in & get around. We were able to walk out the front door & hop a bus to our music venue. The Bushel & Peck coffee & pastries are divine. The bed was comfy, the bathrooms across the hall convenient & everything tastefully decorated & sparkling clean. Timothy, you've developed a lovely & hip location there. Thanks for your hospitality! We'll definitely be back, a great stay in Portland.

    Jackie2015-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Timothy had a great setup for us! We really liked the room we chose, and it looked just like the room posted. I liked that he had bikes available for us to use; however, we didn't have time to use them. I would highly recommend this listing!

Relaxed + modern one bedroom basement apt. Bright + spacious with a handmade Portland touch. Comfortable for two, it's a great home-base for the traveler wanting to explore PDX! Located in charming Woodlawn neighborhood. Near the park, bars and bus lines.
Handmade by us! We're a craftsman and an interior designer who are not afraid to get our hands dirty. Stay in this remodeled basement where every detail was thought, planned and carefully constructed. We value high-end, conscious design. Our motto is maintain, reclaim and sustain. All of the exposed wood was salvaged from this 100 year old home! We love our house and hope that you do too. It's a great, peaceful place to crash at the end of the day. A plush queen sized bed, a huge doorless walk-in bathroom (ie. divided by a wall), glass walk-in shower and a tiny but efficient kitchen were top priorities when we made this place. The kitchen has dishwasher/fridge/oven stocked with all the pots/pans and plates to make a nice meal at home. Its always a shifting art-installation, so don't be surprised if the art in the listing photos change. We like to collect art and objects during our travels.
We're one block from 2 major bus lines (the 8 goes to downtown) and our neighborhood market, P's & Q's. 3 blocks from Woodlawn park + 5 blocks to our neighborhood hub: breweries, dance hall, coffee shop and restaurants. Woodlawn is a great area and closely located to Alberta Arts District, Mississippi and Kenton.
  • My friend and I highly enjoyed our stay at Anna Jeremy’s place. The location was peaceful and safe yet close enjoyed to enjoy downtown with a 15 minute drive. The apartment was stylish and thoughtfully decorated. I really like that Anna walked us in when we arrived and showed us around. I look forward to staying here my next visit to Portland!

    Alyssa2018-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Anna & Jeremy’s place is wonderful. So much to do within walking distance of the apartment as well. We loved all of the suggestions they provided. Would definitely stay here again.

    Mackenzie2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place was better than we expected! Everything was incredibly clean, adorable, and it was in a great location! Anna and Jeremy were very thoughtful and made sure to provide whatever we could need. We would definitely stay there again!

    Morgan2018-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wanted 'zzz-place' near PDX. Got that plus clean, modern, spacious, private space into the bargain.

    Paul2017-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Jeremy went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. The space is completely charming and in a great location, with lots to see within walking distance and downtown Portland only a short drive away. Thanks again!

    Joanna2014-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful and charming place. Plenty of open space, but each area held its own (bed, couch, dining table, kitchen, bathroom, etc). Has all the amenities you might need. Enjoyed one of the local beers in the fridge and some music on their stereo system. Located on a main street, but still very quiet. A restaurant and a gelato shop just down the street - pretty tasty! Plenty of parking out front. Will definitely stay again, thanks Anna!

    Spencer2016-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Place was great. Easy, clean and modern feel in a great area.

    Ryan2015-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Jeremy's apartment is amazing, without doubt the best Airbnb we have stayed in. It is beautifully designed, exceptionally comfortable (the bathroom is outstanding) and in a great neighbourhood with some brilliant cafes, restaurants and bars. Anna and Jeremy were great hosts, there to meet us when we arrived and always on hand if we needed anything. If you are visiting Portland then this is the place to stay!

Our private detached garden studio sits in the heart of a quiet residential neighborhood and is a short stroll to top restaurants, food carts, and shopping in hip SE Portland. The space is compact -- about 240sf -- but cozy, bright and a great place to unwind after a day of exploring Portland!
Our cozy studio includes a comfy queen bed, vaulted ceilings, full bathroom, kitchenette, and small sitting area. It's fully detached from the main house, so offers complete privacy. Skylights, french doors, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows provide views of the west hills and flood the room with an abundance of natural light, even on the greyest of drizzly Portland days. It's small --about 240sf-- but the space is well utilized with many amenities such as wireless Bluetooth speaker, Portland maps and guides, and comfy pillows and blankets to make it feel like home. The space is best suited for guests seeking a cozy place to relax and recharge after a day of exploring Portland; It's quite small, so if you're needing more of a "hangout spot" this may not be the best fit. The studio has a full bathroom with shower (no tub). The kitchenette includes a mini fridge, sink, instant hot water, coffee maker, microwave and everything you need for reheating leftovers from the many restaurants and food carts nearby. Complementary tea and coffee are provided along with a long list of restaurant recommendations. There’s a growler available for filling, which you can do at The Imperial Bottle Shop on Division Street and at many local breweries and grocery stores nearby.
We love living in the heart of the Richmond neighborhood! Nestled on a quiet, residential street, we're a short stroll (about 1/3mi) to two main restaurant and retail districts of SE Portland. A 4-block walk brings you to a bus stop that can get you most anywhere else in town. A short walk from the studio brings you to food, shopping and entertainment (to name a few of our favorites): PokPok, Salt & Straw, Ava Gene's, Bollywood Theater; Food Cart pods, Little T Bakery, St Honore; A myriad of boutiques, shops and independent movie theaters on Hawthorne, Clinton and Division streets. You'll likely meet some friendly neighborhood cats during your stay, but due to severe allergies, our studio is pet- and allergen-free. You may also spot our eyepatch-wearing, kung fu-performing neighbor (and good friend) practicing in the street, sometimes alongside his 4yo daughter. He’s a world-renowned martial artist and teacher, is super friendly and adds some true Portland character to our otherwise sleepy neighborhood.
  • Lives up to all the 5 star reviews. Great location, easily accessible, quiet and private but also close to restaurants, shops, bars and nightlife. Would definitely return for another stay!

    Matt2017-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great place tucked behind their home. Our hosts were friendly and helpful! Small studio with bed, seating area, and kitchen counter space. Cozy and great for the long weekend!

  • Lovely space, great location. Can't beat it... Looked forever and Melissa is the best all around. We will be back

    Ryan2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best experiences I have ever had with ABB. Melissa and Brian have created a beautiful space to stay in that is both quiet and comfortable. We were incredibly impressed with all the small touches and checked out a few of the local tips that were left. Comfortable and clean, all around incredible experience!

    Alycia2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa and her husband have done a great job setting this mini apartment up for travelers. Everything you may need is here, just like a hotel, but in a warmer, more well thought out space. You truly feel welcome and at home while being in a nice part of town walking distance to great food. Melissa has even gone through the trouble of printing out restaurant and entertainment suggestions for you before you arrive in case she doesn't see you when you first check in. If you want a good experience in Portland, and a relaxing place to stay look no further, you won't be disappointed.

    David2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is a gem! Totally tricked out with thoughtful and comfortable touches, absolutely sparkling clean, comfortable, easy parking, quiet and awesome location. Great communication. I will definitely be back!

    Jessica2017-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our experience at Melissa's home was so amazing. What a unique and fun little space it was with really thoughtful details! My husband and I stayed here during our wedding night and we were greeted with such kind hospitality, a clean and carefully curated living space, and an incredibly cozy bed. The home itself is in a pretty amazing location; lots of great food and shopping so close by. We feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to stay in such a unique space during such an important moment in our lives. Thanks, Melissa!

    Samantha2018-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as advertised. You can tell Melissa and Brian go above and beyond with care for their place, as well as all the unique touches to make their guest's stay even that much better. Would totally recommend.

  • Amazing location! Same street as Salt & Straw, Blue Star Donuts and other restaurants and shops. Anastasia was quick to respond to my messages and was very helpful. Very stylish and cozy studio to stay at!

    Chelsea2018-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • The host was very kind and helpful with local tips. Parking was slightly challenging but that is to be expected in a downtown area. The city is beautiful and lively.

    Aaron2018-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • The place was great. I stayed here for 3 nights with my fiancé and loved it. Situated on an ideal corner in NW Portland, we were able to enjoy the best food, drinks, and coffee all within a 5 minute walk. The space itself was perfect for our stay: comfortable bed, TV, and kitchenette made this place a steal. I would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

    Bryne2016-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was seriously the best trip I’ve ever been on! My husband and I had a great time in Portland and Anastasia’s place certainly contributed to that. We were visiting to move there in 2 months and we really got a feel for that neighborhood and so many more because of how amazing this location is. Beyond that, the space is absolutely perfect. Super clean, comfortable, personal, stylish, minimal ... I could go on! Check in was awesome after a day of traveling - we dropped off our bags, used the parking pass provided (huge plus) and grabbed a bite across the street within 5 min of parking the car. We loved spending time there unwinding from a day exploring Portland and spent time hanging out in the space just because! Thank you so much - I would definitely stay here again and hope I can on another trip before we move!

    Kate2018-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had such a wonderful stay here! Anastasia's place is located in a beautiful section of Portland. There was so much to do right outside the door but it also gave us easy access to the rest of Portland. The studio was clean as could be and felt like home. Anastasia was easy to communicate with! We had a great time!

    Jade2016-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great and perfect! Location was more than perfect! Very nice restaurants are just on the corner and the area is extremely safe, clean, and tranquil. For the price, you are definitely getting more!! The unit was extremely clean, every little parts within the unit was very well-taken care of. Also, every products within the unit was either a fair-traded, organic, or environmental friendly. The hosts live the next door, but your privacy is guaranteed. It was so obvious that they have spent extra attention to the details of making the unit quiet and accommodating. I would definitely come back to stay at this place again!! It was by far the best place I've ever stayed through Airbnb.com.

Buckman is a close in SE Portland neighborhood which is an increasingly popular place to live. The apartment is at the eastern end of the neighborhood. There are parks, a picturesque cemetery, good restaurants, wine bars, craft brewing pubs and the Laurelhurst movie theater, all within walking distance. The #15 bus line runs to downtown on the other side of the cemetery (6 blocks). A little further afield (just over a mile) is the Hawthorne district where there are some off beat shops and more places to eat and drink. Downtown is 2 miles away. The apartment is part of a new build and is situated at the rear of the property next to the garden It is one story up (over the garage) and receives a lot of natural light. It is fully self-contained, all appliances are new which makes self-catering very easy. What it lacks in history it more than makes up for in convenience! There is also ample free street parking directly outside the house. Buckman is pretty close to downtown while still having a residential flavor. It also contains a number of agreeable restaurants, wine bars and brewpubs. Everyday shopping needs such as grocery stores are also well served. Additionally it is pretty easy to get to the major freeways for travel purposes. Buses run to downtown and back a few blocks over.
  • What a great experience! Cara and Roger were very communicative and helpful and there was a delicious bottle of wine awaiting us when we arrived. The apartment is lovely; spacious, airy, private, and exceptionally clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well organized and we appreciated the standard-sized refrigerator. Location was perfect for us, as well, and we can't wait to stay again on our next trip to Portland. Thank you, Cara and Roger!

    Kathy2015-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Cara and Roger made us feel welcome by greeting us upon arrival with a friendly conversation and a warm welcome. They provided us with a detailed list of area amenities. The listing was even better than advertised. The space was extremely clean and like new. The bed was comfortable and the space was more than sufficient for a weeks stay. The kitchen was well equipped and having a washer and dryer made it very nice also. The on street parking was safe and the home is located in a good neighborhood. The location was convenient for traveling to Portland. Cara and Roger thought of everything. Having a bottle of wine waiting for us was so thoughtful! When returning to the Northwest we hope to return to Cara and Rogers!

    Rebecca2015-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • The place is great. Very clean, well maintained, and extremely comfortable. I would definitely stay here if I am in Portland again.

  • There are so many details to this apartment that make it great! It's clean, in a great area, easily accessible to public transportation, and Cara definitely went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable here. From the complimentary wine and coffee to everything you need including laundry detergent, soap, shampoo and conditioner! The bed is super comfortable and I haven't slept that great in a long time! We would definitely stay here again and again!

    Lindsey2017-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Cara was very friendly quick to respond and professional. Our room was clean and spacious. There were lots of helpful tips for the area. It is easily accessible to downtown and surrounding areas. The room is private and quiet.

    Brenna2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was awesome. Extremely clean, well appointed, lots of shampoo and towels. Unbelievably, they had every kitchen gadget you could imagine. To make it easier for us to load our car the morning of our departure and have use of the driveway, Cara graciously moved her car the night before onto the street. When we come back to Portland we would gladly stay there again.

    Art2016-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Renting with Cara and Roger made our trip so enjoyable! They are such great hosts and welcomed us warmly with a bottle of wine and coffee. The cozy apartment is extremely clean and exceeded our needs. The neighborhood is safe and a great place to explore. I would recommend this space for any couple visiting Portland.

    Cindy2013-08-04T00:00:00Z

  • Natalie and Adam's place was really charming. They were gracious hosts and the location is ideal. It's a very short walk from Mississippi Avenue, where there are great shops and restaurants and bars. We had a really lovely time. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing place to stay in a fun neighborhood.

  • This was our first trip to Portland - and it won't be our last. We absolutely loved it! And Adam and Arthur's home and hospitality had plenty to do with that. Their home is beautiful, with amazing art work. There were nice little touches, like free beer in the fridge and chocolates in the room. While we didn't see them often they were always available via text and answered questions quickly. They are very close to the bus - Poertland has great public transportation. It's a beautiful city and we enjoyed staying in their home.

  • This place is truly a dream! I came to PDX for a wedding and could not have asked for a more comfortable stay. The house is spotless and the beautiful backyard was a welcome change to my NYC rooftop lifestyle. My inner homebody felt super comfortable hanging at the house/in the backyard. Adam and Arthur seem to be running a true bnb...they really know what they're doing! The location is great - shopping, cocktails, and delicious food right on their doorstep. A must-stay.

    Kate2015-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Adam and Arthur were delightful hosts. Their home is beautiful and very comfortable. I love the decorating style! The location is close to public transportation. Excellent choice and I would stay again.

  • I've stayed in many Airbnb homes and this is one of the best places I've spent time in. You're located in a cool neighborhood with amazing food options, you're really close the Max line if you want to save money on transportation, and you're in good hands with Adam and Arthur. What this means is that our guests are welcome to make themselves at home in their living room or just drop their bags off and head out exploring, but they won't be able to rest their weary heads or hit the showers until we've had a chance to get home and tidy up. (PLEASE NOTE: This listing highlights the primary guest bedroom available, but for parties of 3 or 4 people, we do have a secondary bedroom that also features a queen-sized bed. If you are making a reservation for two people and you wish to book both bedrooms, PLEASE EXPLICITLY TELL US SO, as the default for two guests is ONE bedroom; for a two-guest reservation, the cost will be the listed room rate + $30/night. All guests share the same bathroom.) There is almost an entire floor available in our newish home smack-dab in the heart of fun, accessible Southeast Portland! This means that our guest(s) get not only their own quiet bedroom, but also a private full bathroom AND their own nicely-appointed living room (please note: the first-floor living room is NOT private, as it does not have a ceiling and is the way between the front door of the house and the stairs to the second floor). We are steps away from a frequent-service bus line, a terrific sandwich shop that's open for breakfast, lunch AND dinner, a pizza joint, a Starbucks, and, best of all, a Trader Joe's! The house is about two miles south of the trendy Hawthorne district, one mile south of nationally-recognized Division Street, and about four miles east of downtown Portland. The house itself is a beautiful, soaring Doug Fir- and hemlock-constructed dream home decorated with one-of-kind glass art pieces and potted succulents. Our guests have access to our fabulous kitchen in addition to their own first-floor amenities. We have a very friendly housecat you will likely meet during your stay, but the guest bedroom and guest bathroom doors are kept closed for the comfort of allergen-sensitive guests. We also have two friendly dogs who will greet you eagerly upon your arrival, but who otherwise spend their time hanging out with us and don't wander much to the guest floor. Lastly, to our guests during the colder months: the guest floor tends to be the coolest in the house, and we provide space heaters and afghans for your comfort, but we figure we should let you know ahead of time that if you run cold, ours may not be the ideal place for your stay.
Our neighborhood is so great! We are really close to several cool Portland hubs, but we're on a relatively quiet residential street so we truly have the best of all worlds.
  • I had a fantastic experience being hosted for one night by Brad and Becca as I stopped in Portland on my roadtrip. They have an amazing home, of which the room I stayed in couldn't have been better. I was particularly intrigued by world map on the wall in the room, showing where guests they have had are from and was happy to add to this. The shared living, kitchen and dinning space added to the homely experience with neatness and great ambiance throughout. Brad and Becca were very communicative, welcoming, informative and considerate. I highly recommend a stay with them in Portland.

  • Clean comfortable space with very creative touches. We wish we could’ve stuck around longer, but the amenities were perfect for our one night stay in Portland.

    Stefan2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • FANTASTIC house. Seriously, just lovely. Brad and Becca were great hosts. We were out and about on most of our trip, but when we got to chat with them they seemed like fun people. If you're taking public transit, this can be a little removed from other parts of Portland, but it's not too bad. Otherwise, fantastic. Great neighborhood with lots of food and shops. Great house. Chocolates on the pillow. Generally a win.

    Maggie2013-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Nice, clean, and roomy accommodations. Overall a very pleasant stay. Brad and Becca were very nice, as was Biscuit the cat and Carlos the dog.

  • Beautiful place to stay, very close to everything in Portland!

    Miriam2014-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Brad and Becca have put a lot of thought and detail into their guest space and it is a beautiful place to stay. The couple are nice them selves and their home map insured that we found all the excellent places to go. We loved Portland and Brad and Becca's was a great place to stay.

    Cara2015-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Brad and Becca's place was lovely and accessible, clean and comfortable. They were easy to reach and gave comprehensive instructions. A beautiful spot to land in if visiting Portland!

    Mika2015-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stop at the Urban treehouse on our journey. Brad and Becca have a beautiful home and we loved meeting their furry friends too (nice after missing ours for a week). Thanks to Brad for all of his delicious recommendations

  • Cozy place!

    Agnes2017-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is stylish & cozy- a bohemian bedroom retreat. It was clean, private, & there were a few sweet treats to welcome us. I highly recommend Melissa's place.

    Jamie2018-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Hands down one of the best places we’ve stayed with AirBnB. Melissa was a great host and had such a great place. In a great location within walking distance of plenty of restaurants and neighborhoods to explore. We will definitely come back to visit Truman and the rest of Portland!

    Tyler2018-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What a gorgeous space! Loved every minute and wish I could’ve stayed longer! Melissa was so sweet and welcoming. The neighborhood is super cute and only 10 minutes from the airport, which was great as we had a very early morning flight. Easy walking distance from Tamale Boy and Tough Luck, which I recommend both!

    Julia2018-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • It was everything as advertised and more. Great and easy stay.

    Pat2017-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa’s space is easily one of the most adorable abnb’s! Clean, spacious and wonderfully situated for spending time in Portland. Check in and out were a breeze, we slept great in the snuggly bed and enjoyed fresh coffee and tea in the mornings. Thanks again for two lovely nights!

    Darcie2018-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very nice, clean, comfortable space in a quiet neighborhood. Great access to all that Portland has to offer. We would definitely stay there again.

  • Paul's place was perfect! The location is super convenient and the room itself is cozy. Paul is a warm and accommodating host. The beds are super comfy and the room has everything one needs for coffee, tea and snacks. Definitely be back!

    Venita2015-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was a very good host. We had a bit of a mix up over reservations, but he scrambled and accommodated us. The room is spic and span, and quite comfortable. The location is very good, but if you have allergies, be aware that there is a new addition to the home, a small dog. Originally we booked both beds for two couples thinking the beds were in separate rooms, but the second bed is in a small alcove right next to the main bed, offering little by way of privacy. Just two of us ended up staying.

    Dana2013-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was an excellent host during our stay at the FunkyPad. The location was easy to find and in a safe neighborhood with plenty of parking. Paul greeted us and gave us a tour of the amazing pad that was stocked with beverages and snacks, fitted with cable TV, fresh towels, and pretty much everything you'd need. The pad was very well decorated and very comfortable. We were tempted to stay in to relax and enjoy the pad more! The pad is very spacious with small kitchen area, reading area with a long table, cushy sofa in front of a large television, large closet space to place your luggage, full bathroom, and two large mattresses. Paul made sure we were very comfortable and communicating with him was very easy. I would send him a message on airBNB and he'd respond within minutes. He also went out of his way to send me my heavy coat when I had left and was out of the state! This is a place I would revisit and recommend for my friends!

    Hannah2014-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I enjoyed Portland and this Airbnb home. We slept in the cozy little window room, it was nice and dark and provided a good nights sleep. We do however prefer a Airbnb that has it's own private entrance but other than that this place was great.

    Krystal2014-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Paul is a very welcoming host, and his room is very good to stay, clean quite, and comfortable. My friends and me highly enjoyed the night in Paul's room.

    2014-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome apartment, very clean, centrally located, and was exactly as described. Would 100% stay here again!

    Isaac2017-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Paul is super friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Highly recommend staying here!

    Oriana2017-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Paul is a guy that words don't really do justice to. I've stayed in some really spectacularly nice hotels when I used to work in the corporate world, but I'd trade any one of them for the hospitality and kindness that Paul offered. This is a great spot, bar none. You can find nicer places, I would have to imagine, because I've seen some insanely-high prices on here. But, you will have a very difficult time picking a better place to stay. If you want just a bed, go to hotel. If you want to feel at home, and like you're -- almost literally! -- with a family member, I feel confident in saying that you won't go wrong. I'm also a very critical guy, so if Paul didn't deserve this rave review, I would give it. Any areas I didn't answer from the "Stars", were only because they just didn't apply to me.

I'm offering a comfortable clean bedroom in the best neighborhood in Portland. Self check in so late night arrivals are no problem. On all major bus lines. New Seasons market one block away and 20+ restaurants in a 15 block radius. Free street parking. LGBTQ friendly. 3 small dogs live here so if you don't love dogs, this is not the place for you.
I'm offering a bedroom in my four bedroom home on the main floor right next to the shared bathroom. The bed is a comfy queen size. My home has a back porch with a cozy deck for eating breakfast and sipping coffee and a picnic area under the arbor for dinner and relaxing. The dogs can be a bit intense, but Rocky is always down for a head scratch.
Dozens of excellent restaurants within walking distance of the house. Two grocery stores within 4 blocks. Major bus lines will take you downtown in ten minutes. Our neighborhood is quiet and clean in the heart of Portland's biking community. We're also within walking distance to the Aladdin Theater so come see a show while you're here!
  • Kara es muy amable y siempre dispuesta a ayudarte. El vecindario esta muy bonito y de fácil acceso Kara nos presto sus bicicletas para poder movernos en la ciudad.

    Angel2015-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Kara was super easy to communicate with and left tons of suggestions for things to do and see in the neighborhood as well as greater Portland. Great location to catch public transportation and for walking. The bed was comfy, the dogs were sweeties.

    Casey2017-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We booked with Kara mere hours before we arrived in Portland and were so grateful that she could house us. We only met her briefly, but were not looking for much host interaction and spent most of our time in Portland enjoying the city. The house itself was fine, and in a really great location. Definitely not a luxurious experience, but if you're just looking for a place to crash for a night in a good Portland location, this is good for that. The dogs didn't bother us, but this is definitely not the place for you if you don't love dogs. We had no problems with the shared bathroom and street parking was super easy!

    Krystyna2015-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Walking into Kara's house, we felt welcomed immediately! Nestled right off Division, the house is walking distance to so many awesome places to eat, drink, and be merry. Since this was our first time in Portland, it was very nice that Kara had a list of the top things to eat and see within a 2 mile radius of her house. Our room was nice and homey that looks out into the backyard and that let in a nice breeze for a warm summer night. Our experience in Portland was definitely top-notch and we would love to visit again!

    Brian2015-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Pretty good place and they were so kind and friendly that we didn't have to be worried about anything even though it is our first time to traveling around the United States. We were relaxed to stay there.

    Tetsugo2014-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Walkers bliss was a great base for us in Portland. Kara and her housemates were very generous hosts, letting my boyfriend use their dining table as a desk when he had to work one of the days. The dogs are friendly, and there are lots of recommendations provided- listen to them! Thanks very much Kara, Sarah, Dan and Ivan, we had a great time!

    Isla2015-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Straightfoward set up, simple room, nice host and roomates. Great place.

    Joseph2018-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was simply the best airbnb experience ever! Kara was an exceptional host. We arrived extremely late because of our delayed flight, but check-in was so easy. Visiting Kara felt like we were visiting a friend's house. The room was warm and comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. We were so happy to meet Kara on the following day and we are so appreciative of the time she took to share her insights on Portland and drive us to the airport.

Magic Barn, circa 1936, former sculpture studio restored by community artists with old growth barn wood, up-cycled furnishings, kitchen, claw foot bath, baby amenities, with a sculpture garden. Centrally located in the heart of a charming restaurant and boutique district; 3 blocks to both SE Hawthorne and Division St. 15 minutes to both the airport and downtown, there are 4 bus stops and rental bikes within 3 blocks, and ample street parking on our block. Natural cleaning products only.
Built with Love! Cannabis is legal in Oregon. You are welcome to responsibly smoke tobacco and cannabis outside only. There are many dispensaries within walking distance. We are permitted by the city of Portland to host ten guests at the Magic Barn and The Magic House which are adjacent. If you are a group of more than two, please send us an inquiry to see if we can accommodate the needs of your group. Family amenities are available upon request: portable crib, baby bath, high chair, etc. From 2000 to 2015 the Magic Barn was Todji's sculpture studio. Most of the sculptures in the sculpture garden were designed right here and are exhibited for everyone to experience. When Todji first moved into the main house as a renter, the Magic Barn was a crooked shed with broken windows, no electricity, water or heat and was filled with trash. Todji improved it and then purchased the property in 2004 when banks were giving loans to anybody, including self-employed emerging artists. Todji rented rooms to other artists while restoring the old house for fifteen years, while building a career as a fine art sculptor. During the summer of 2015 Todji designed and built the Magic Barn with the talented carpenters and fine art painters Theo Holdt and TJ Ravenwolf. The interior wood siding are salvaged old growth barn planks, and the ceiling is made of the original 1936 rafters and sheathing. Look at the outside walls to see the twist in the structure! TJ’s painting is hanging above the couch. TJ is native American from the Alaskan tribes of Koyukon Athabaskan and Muscogee Creek. TJ collected all of the natural pigments in the painting from areas around Oregon in prayer, and his prayer in painting now graces the Magic Barn. Todji and Gisele produce public art bronze sculpture monuments for US cities which you may already have seen, or that you may see one day. We employ local artists to do the cleaning and maintenance work at The Magic Barn and Magic House. Thank you for taking the time to read our story!
The Magic Barn is centrally located in one of the most charming and hip neighborhoods in Portland. With the center of both SE Hawthorne and SE Division St within 3 blocks, there is an abundance of restaurants, boutique browsing, grocery stores, neighborhood strolling, and park hiking options within walking distance. See a movie, or just step in to witness the beautiful and iconic McMenamin's Bagdad theater, accompanied by an incredible restaurant/bar/pool hall in the back called the "Back Stage Bar", at SE 37th and Hawthorne. It will give you a feel for classic Portland! We are minutes from Mt Tabor park which has a lovely forest with walking trails sitting upon a dormant volcano, and we are 45 minutes to the spectacular 600 foot tall Multnomah waterfall in the gorgeous Columbia River Gorge scenic area. Division is the new up and coming Southeast neighborhood. With lots of modern architecture, new restaurants and shops you will get a feel for the freshest vibe Portland has to offer. Here is a list to get you started: Restaurants: (The options are endless but here are a few popular favorites!) Serving Food Late - Sapphire Hotel at 50th and Hawthorne, Romantic and sexy atmosphere- great for late night drinks and gourmet bar food. Stumptown Coffee Roasters- 45th and Division, Classic Great Portland Coffee Trinket- One block away on Lincoln and 39th, great for Brunch with their locally sourced eggs!) Harlow- 36th and Hawthorne, Hip and Healthy, great for lunch, or fresh veggie juice. Por Que No- 46th and Hawthorne, Wildly popular Mexican with a great playful decor. (Don’t be intimidated by the line, you order at the counter, and then get a seat and your order will be out in no time) Pok Pok- 32nd and Division, There are literally 11 Thai restaurants in walking distance, but Pok Pok is the best. Began as a food cart, but grew into a Restaurant Empire. Worth the wait. Bollywood Theater- 30th and Division, Indian food small plates. Also along line but worth it! Salt and Straw- 33rd and Division, Food Networks top five ice creams! Super Popular! Lauretta Jeans- 34th and Division, Breathtaking Pies! Tidbit Food Cart Pod, 28th and Division, Fabulous food cart selection, lots of seating, including a beer garden and vintage clothing bus. A truly Portland experience. Hiking: The website of "Friends of the Columbia Gorge" has detailed information about many hikes in the scenic and nearby Columbia River Gorge. It is a 45 minute drive from here to enter the gorge. Below are the names of hikes that we love and recommend. Check the website to find a hike with a distance and fitness level that suits you. For those who are visiting the gorge for the first time, I recommend visiting the most spectacular, and also the most touristicated, 600 foot Multnomah Falls. For those who want a challenging half day hike you can begin at Multnomah Falls and hike a loop called the Franklin Ridge Loop. Multnomah Falls /Franklin Ridge Loop Eagle Creek Angels Rest Bridal Veil Falls Triple Falls Wahkeena Falls Groceries, Pharmacy and Shopping: New Seasons- Local Health Food Store (40th and Hawthorne) Fred Meyers- Local Department/Grocery store (Cesar Chavez and Hawthorne) Rite Aid Pharmacy- Drugstore/pharmacy (Cesar Chavez and Division) Powell’s Books- A smaller version of Portland’s famous Bookstore (37th and Hawthorne) Gold Door- Wonderful Imports from around the world (37th and Hawthorne) Enjoy!
  • Simply amazing! If I could stay there forever I would! The sculpture garden is so inspiring and the space is relaxing. Everything you need to unwind.

  • Such a cute little place in a great location!

    Katie2018-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect place to unwind after a long day exploring Portland. The magic barn was beautiful, I loved all the artistic touches they put on the place. The bed was a little bit too soft for my preference, but it was quiet enough after the street traffic died down and I slept great. The gas fireplace was nice and gave the place a very romantic feel. There were a bunch of city maps and guidebooks to help us navigate and choose our daily activities. We met both Todji and Gisele when we arrived and they were very welcoming. Parking around the corner was abundant and we had no problem finding a spot.

    Karen2015-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay in this incredible "magic barn". So cozy with such high end finishes. Truly a work of art inside and out. The hosts were even better! Friendly and courteous and always immediate to respond.

    Casey2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I have stayed at many rentals up and down the coast. The Magic Barn was easily our favorite to date. The host was essentially invisible so it felt very private and intimate.

    Ben2016-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, thoughtfully designed space in a wonderful neighborhood. I enthusiastically recommend the Magic Barn to any Portland visitor.

    Leigh2017-10-07T00:00:00Z

The room also has cable TV, Queen size bed, foldout futon sofa, airbed in closet, sitting area & desk. • Está increíble bien ubicado, super lindo !!

    Mayra2017-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Jere's son Max was humorous, gracious and welcoming. The living room/bedroom is spacious, tastefully decorated and amazingly quiet. I enjoyed sitting on the sheltered porch as the day cooled off, and walking in the friendly neighborhood. It was easy to get to downtown and back by bus, so I didn't have to use my car very much.

    Mary2015-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jere gave me directions to, and offered to pick me up from the local train station. I had a rental car did not take her up on the offer, but very much appreciated it. Jere found out I did not bring my cellphone car charger, so she loaned me one long with a reusable shopping bag. She also gave me an important piece of advice by driving the Old Scenic Highway, instead of just taking the freeway to get to the Bonneville Dam.

    Robert2014-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Super room at a good price, and the space was certainly more commodious than a motel room! You'll love the shower--open on 2 1/2 sides, no curtain, overhead and handheld shower heads. Bed very comfortable, small but very adequate desk for laptop use, and hostess provides a charging bar for electronics. No kitchen, but hostess does a terrific job of providing amenities--small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, tea brewer, napkins, plastic ware, some dishes. For those who want a homey "away from home" space, this is the place!

    Susan2016-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Easy access to downtown (just under ten minutes) and many other different neighborhoods in Portland. We really enjoyed the large shower and small amenities. Jere has been a great host and we highly recommend you stay!

    Emily2018-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • the accommodations were fine. the host denied guest upstairs came home late and made lots of noise every night from 1-3 am. I was sleep deprived the whole time. and to top it off she booked my room to some one else and texted me that she removed all my stuff. this was awful stay somewhere else ill never yse aur bnb again.

    Rick2016-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Jere was an excellent host! She offered to pick us up from the train which leaves from the airport. She was responsive to messages upon our arrival. The room itself was immaculate and very comfortable with all of the amenities you could need for a weekend. Jere went above and beyond on our last day allowing us to leave our luggage in the room past checkout so we didn't have to carry it around with us.

  • I had a wonderful stay here! I was in Portland for a conference at the Oregon Convention Center. There were events throughout the city, and the house is centrally located so it was easy to ride my bike or take Max everywhere I needed to go. The room itself is quite large, with comfy chairs and a desk just the right size for getting some work done on my laptop (and the wireless internet was plenty fast). The bathroom is also large and has a great shower. As a cartographer I also really appreciated the map-themed decor of the room. My favorite part is the little porch right outside the private entrance, it looks out over the garden and was a very pleasant place to relax. Jere was very responsive to all of my emails/texts both before and during my stay. I highly recommend her place!

Light-filled, private 2 story apartment, parking in the driveway, two major bus lines, walking distance to restaurants/bars, shopping & grocery. Separate office area, high-speed internet, great for business travel.
A well-stocked gourmet kitchen, lots of windows to let light in (blackout shade in bedroom to help you sleep!), new comfy pullout sofa, full size washer & dryer, courtyard space outside to chill out, park in the driveway right next to the apartment
The Albert Arts neighborhood has award-winning restaurants, bars and shopping all within walking distance. The apartment is on a major bus line that can get you where you need to go quickly.
  • This place was great! Perfect for two couples and both beds are more than sufficient - one is a foldout (but a nice one) and the other in the bedroom is a double (close to a queen). The upstairs space is easily manipulated for a variety of activities. The outside we didn’t use because of wet weather. Overall we’d stay here again as we got great value for what we paid - you should too!

    Kyle2018-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Tommy’s place was outstanding! It was beautiful, nice location, and check in super easy. Will stay again if we head back to Portland. The only downside was that we hadn’t planned to stay longer!

  • Such a stylish and well-positioned place. Was an amazing experience all around. Highly recommend!

  • Love, love, loved this place. We would deffinently stay here again!

  • This location was outstanding. Tommy had every amenity we could have hoped for. The washer/dryer even came in handy as we were on a long road-trip. Would definitely recommend this host!

  • The space was great, perfect for a few days in town before a conference! Comfortable bed, beautiful kitchen, super close to Alberta.

    Laurie2018-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • The place was charming and cozy, was literally 15 minutes from everywhere we planned to check out. Close to tons of attractions and restaurants, quiet neighborhood and just a lovely home. Everything was spotless, would stay again.

  • Tommy’s place was awesome and we really enjoyed our stay. Tommy was a great host and very responsive. This was by far our best stay during our entire trip. Our only regret was that we didn’t stay longer. Tommy’s place was very well decorated and he has thought of everything to make the place warm and inviting. His place was very clean and organized. We would recommend him to anyone and we would definitely stay there again!! Thank you!!

Our home is beautifully situated across from a quiet park. We are located just a couple blocks walk to restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques and bus stops on trendy Hawthorne and Division streets.
Our one bedroom, 500 square-foot basement apartment is lovingly decorated in the Northwest Style with touches of Scandinavia. The apartment has separate entrance for your privacy. The bedroom has a queen bed with cozy, fluffy featherbed comforters. The living room has a sofa that converts to double bed with bedding provided. We also have a queen futon available for parties over 4 people. It’s a bit tight for 6 people, but it is possible! We have a little kitchenette with sink, refrigerator, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker with complimentary coffee. The bathroom has a bath/shower combo with all the essentials provided. We have a television that picks up a few stations, but we do not have cable. Our location is ideal for foodies who want to walk to popular restaurants on SE Hawthorne and SE Division streets. We are directly across the street from a park. The Hawthorne bus (#14) is just 1.5 blocks away and will get you downtown within 10 minutes. We also are walking distance to grocery stores, movie theaters, shops, breweries and pubs. Our neighborhood is quiet at night, so we ask that there be no noise after 10:00pm. We are an early-to-bed, early-to-rise family (up at 5:00am) so you may hear us above in the morning.
We are ideally situated between the popular Hawthorne and Division streets. We are 2.5 blocks from the nearest bus stop and are walking distance to shops, restaurants, grocery stores, movie theaters. Best of all we are located right across the street from a park. There is ample parking as well.
  • It's a cute, cozy place! With amenities which is always nice when you're traveling!

    Randi2017-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer's place felt warm and cozy. You have your own separate entrance and parking was great. close to shops, restaurants, and very convenient when you're on the go! The place was beautifully maintained and communicating with Jennifer was so easy. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

    Jennifer2017-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here with my three-year-old and my one-year-old daughters and it was perfect. The park across the street and the walkability of the neighborhood I could not ask for a better situation. Jennifer and her family were completely respectful of my privacy and my space but also very sweet and accommodating with whatever I needed. Our time did not permit but her daughter even offered to play with my girls which I thought was really sweet. Although the family is upstairs I could barely hear them the only thing is that I would smell coffee in the morning but it didn't bother me at all as it smelled really good. The bathtub is amazing! The bed comfortably slept me and my children we didn't even use the pull out but it was nice to know that if my husband had been with us we would've had plenty of space!

    Michelle2017-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer's place is clean, quiet and lovely. The neighborhood is calm, familial and secure. The apartment is near the hype "Hawthorne boulevard:" the location is thus perfect. I warmly recommend this place to someone who wants to do a short city trip in Portland.

    Laura2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our two night stay. Apartment looked better then the pictures. It was very clean and we had enough space to store our luggage. Havibg a washing machine and a dryer was a big bonus: after traveling around for more then a week, we were happy to do some laundry. By foot and bus, it took us 30 minutes to get downtown (2.50 each, no change), but we mainly stayed close to the house, Division St and Hawthorne St were the best for eating, drinking and watching the locals. One thing to keep in mind: the apartment upstairs is rented sometimes and you can hear these guest's footsteps and talking. Not a problem, just something you should know. Would definitely return, highly recommended!

    Femke2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer’s apartment in Portland is one of the nicest AirBnB’s we have ever stayed at. I’d rather stay here again over any hotel! It was clean, comfortable, she had so many amenities to offer, and it was in a great location. Totally recommended!!

    An2018-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay in a central inner east side neighborhood. The bathroom was my favorite - beautifully decorated - and I was excited to take a bath since I no longer have one at home. It was a bit tricky getting into the house as the step is quite large to go up and I'm an older lady but did it OK. I would stay again. Thank you!

Comfortable, modern basement studio with private entrance, only minutes away from downtown and located in safe, quiet Piedmont neighborhood with plenty of on-street parking. Comfy queen size bed, private bath, private kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hot water maker, and all the basic amenities.
Warm and cozy space for two with modern furnishings and its own complete kitchen and bathroom.
Piedmont is a quiet, family oriented neighborhood. There is a large city park a few blocks away with a beautiful rose garden, tennis courts and public pool. The trendy Alberta Arts and Mississippi neighborhoods are nearby.
  • Robert’s place is super cute, modern, clean and comfortable. Had everything we needed and more. He’s space is well maintained inside and out. Secure entrance and neighborhood. It was quiet during our stay. We used Uber to make our way into the the main part of the city. Just 10 mins away and reasonably priced. We didn’t get a chance to meet Robert but this allowed for some privacy and he was very communicative responding to our texts within a reasonable amount of time. We would definitely stay here again if we were to return to Portland. Highly recommend!

    Erica2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • The space was perfect, and private for our stay. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything thing needed as was the bathroom. The location was great! Very close to Alberta street which has a lot of restaurants and bars, and downtown was only 15min away.

  • Great studio apartment! Very conveniently located in between downtown and the airport, very safe and walkable neighborhood. Cute coffee shops within a 10 minute walk. Robert’s studio is very clean and very homey and the access is very simple. Self check-in and out made it an easy process!

    Anne2018-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Robert's home is beautiful and the apartment is so modern! The bed is super comfy as well! Robert was very responsive to any of our requests. Check in and out was very straightforward. We enjoyed our stay!

  • Roberts place is great. Modern, spacious with great amenities. Private and has a kitchen if you want to cook. Would stay again if in Portland area.

  • This place was amazing! It looked exactly like the pictures and made me feel comfortable away from home. Was only ten minutes away from my destination and close to grocery stores and restaurants if I so needed. Would stay again!

    Stephanie2018-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Robert's place is private, amazingly clean, and fully stocked with everything you need! Private entrance, air/ heater conditioned, full kitchen and a large/ comfy bed. Robert is an excellent communicator and is quick to respond to any questions. He allowed us to drop off our luggage since our plane arrived rather early in the morning and our check-in wasn't until the afternoon. I highly suggest staying at Robert's place if you like being in a safe and quiet neighborhood! Don't question it, just book it!

  • Beware of petty upcharges. We thought that we had a great stay at Sara's place until after leaving she charged us extra for a minisule stain on a towel that we were in no way responsible for.

Brand new bed! Brand new walk-in shower! Private entrance, fully private stay. Comfortable, cozy bedroom and bath in the spacious basement of a family home. The basement is pleasant and has high ceilings and concrete floors. Your space is set up with care and intention and cultivated for comfort and need. There are extras like freshly ground coffee, tea, hot chocolate. There is water, dishes, microwave and mini-fridge. Neighborhood is green, friendly and walking distance to Mt. Tabor.
This is like a cross between your own apartment and a room in a house. There is no shared space with us so you have full privacy. But we do live upstairs and you might hear us sometimes but your bedroom and bathroom are fully insulated for sound and warmth. The basement has high ceilings and concrete floors. There are lots of rugs down to make it plush and comfy. There are tapestries leading you down to your room to make the entrance more cozy. Our washer dryer is available if you're staying for three nights or more. The heat works very well and the room is warm and cozy. Central AC in summer. The bedroom has a nice big window with a giant trees outside. There are black out curtains in case you like sleeping in. The closet is roomy and has lots of shelving. The bed is queen size and is very comfortable. Pillows and down comforter also new and comfy. Bedding is cleaned in a new washing machine after every guest of course. If you want to explore Portland on a budget, you can bring your own food and drinks! There is a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker in your room, as well as slippers. The bathroom next to the room is very clean and bright. I take great care with comfort and Décor as I am a designer. Shower is big and brand new. This is in the basement of a family home so you can hear the sounds of our lives sometimes. Other times it is quiet. Besides your room and bathroom, the rest of the large basement is unfinished. The basement has high ceilings and is clean but the floors are concrete. The floors are concrete in your room too but there are plush rugs down. If you book 4 or more days in a row, I will apply a 10% discount after you book.
The neighborhood is very charming, quiet and green. Have a beautiful uphill walk to Mount Tabor (an actual volcano!) and enjoy one of the most gorgeous parks in the city, with a great view of Portland. Walk to Stark Street for coffee, beer and food. 82nd Street boasts some of the most authentic Asian food in the city. It's actually ethnically diverse in this neighborhood which is refreshing.
  • Claudia had so many recommendations already listed on her page for food and things to do, but she also suggested a great Hot Pot place when my boyfriend and I were hungry for Chinese food! The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the little coffee pot in the room was a life-saver. There isn't a shower downstairs so you have to give her a heads up before going upstairs, but she was always accommodating. The neighborhood was cute and quiet and really close to Mt. Tabor and not too far from downtown! You are in the basement, so you can hear footsteps above you but that didn't bother us too much at all. The house was lovely and Claudia was equally as lovely!

    Jackie2016-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Just as advertised. Great space to spend a night.

    Alexandro2018-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Claudia’s place is a nice basement room that was absolutely perfect for what I needed. The space is tidy and Claudia is very friendly. Thank you!

    Annika2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Claudia's place was just what I needed for a good night's rest and space to relax. The easy check-in process went smoothly and hassle-free after a long drive, and the garden boxes with beautiful plants were welcoming as I walked to the entry-way. The coffee and tea available were perfect to get my day started! Recommend for any work travels if you're trying to keep things mellow.

    Lili2018-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay. Don't let the entry let you down. You have to come down the basement to go to your room. However, the room has a nice decoration and you have your privacy 10/10. Love the stay. Definitely come back.

  • Claudia was great and the room was super cozy

    Delainey2016-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a peaceful room, incredibly comfy bed, friendly host, and convenient location. Definitely recommend!

    Aimee2017-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Claudia's newly redone shower is the largest and prettiest of the airbnbs we've stayed at! Worth a stay alone for that. The decorations are colorful and fun. The place is in a pretty good location: 10-15 minute drive from the downtown and Hawthorne areas (where we wanted to spend most of our time), and if you don't mind a 15 minute walk north, there are some cute breakfast places. You'll have to Lyft most places but Lyft was easy to call out there. It's a great value, would definitely recommend!

This 3rd floor loft is located in the N. Williams District, on a main bike route, across the street from a bus stop, close to the street car and light rail. It is an eclectic 900 sqft self contained unit with amazing views on the top floor of a 1900's Victorian. This stretch of Williams Ave has a more industrial feel but we are just a few blocks from eateries & libations. Walk to the Convention Center, Moda Center and the Pearl District.
-The view is amazing. -Efficiency style open kitchen with 2 stove top burners, toaster oven, french press, cookware, full dishware & glassware plus a real fridge with freezer. -comfy queen bed & nice Egyptian cotton sheets -new heating system with Air Conditioning! -2 wifi networks -a slew of information & maps on Portland & surrounding areas such as the Columbia Gorge, Oregon Coast, wine country etc. -Walk to the heart of the Williams District -Walk to the convention Center & Moda -Walk into the Pearl District (20min.)
Building on its reputation for bicycles, beers and brunch, the Williams District has evolved into a dynamic, must-see destination for locals and visitors alike. With its broad array of eateries, breweries, characters, shops and services, the district is a veritable composite of all the best Portland has to offer. The Williams District includes more than 150 businesses and is also defined by its rich cultural history. In the 1940s and ’50s, Williams Avenue was teeming with jazz clubs and speakeasies. Today located just down the street is the historic Billy Webb elks lodge. On a Friday or Saturday night it is not rare to sit on the deck and hear the DJ spinning.
  • Tyra's loft is the perfect place to end the day after adventure-ing around Portland! The loft is true to the pictures, super clean, cozy, and with a killer view to boot. Great location super close to lots of bars and restaurants, and not too far of a walk to the bridges leading downtown. Didn't have any problems parking on the street, and the neighborhood was very easy to navigate through. Tyra also provided snacks, coffee, and some bathroom necessities, which really came in handy! We did not have the chance to meet Tyra, but she is very quick to respond, accommodating, and gave us some awesome recommendations nearby! I would absolutely recommend staying here & look forward to coming back to this space on future trips to Portland!

    Nikki2016-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Tyra provided accurate and easy directions for check in. The loft was a perfect place for us to take in Portland. The apartment was true to the photos/ description. We especially loved spending time on the private rooftop patio with fantastic views of the city. We would definitely stay again next time we visit Portland.

    Zachary2015-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful experience at Tyras place. It is close enough to downtown you can easily Uber/Lyft but there is parking available on the street if you have a rental. Tyra was very responsive and made sure we had all the information we needed for a good stay. Very cute view off the balcony and a comfortable bed. We'd definitely stay again our next time in Portland!!

    Lauren2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful experience. I stayed here for a couple of days while attending a conference at the convention center. The apartment was very conveniently located both for walking and public transportation. The space was very comfortable and charming, with everything I needed to make a quick breakfast before heading out for the day. Tyra was a great host. She was very helpful and flexible throughout the process, and when the weather got warm, she checked in with some advice for keeping the temperature comfortable in the apartment. I would definitely try to stay here again on future visits to Portland.

    Niamh2015-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the views to the West and South. Even when it's too wet to enjoy the deck, you can still see quite a bit from inside. The loft is at the top of an old house, but has a modern feel. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. Lighting is ample. Heater keeps the place toasty. Bathroom is updated and spacious. We didn't spend much time right in the neighborhood. Loved that parking was free and always available. There's also a streetcar stop not too far away. Check-in and check-out were easy, didn't have any problems while we were there. Highly recommend over a hotel. Felt like home.

    Fidan2015-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful experience staying in Tyra's loft. It was the perfect size for two people, was very clean and nicely decorated. Also, the bed is extremely comfortable! We spent most of our time at the loft out on the balcony, as the views are wonderful. It was the perfect spot for morning coffee. There is a bus stop just two blocks away and it was pretty easy to navigate a trip to other areas of the city using the Tri-Met app. There is also access to the rail near the Moda center, which is a 10-15 minute walk. There are several great dining/shopping options further north on Williams (again, about a 10-15 minute walk). Mississippi Ave. and Alberta Arts district are just a short bus or Uber ride away.

The bunk room has been created as a nod to the hotel's creation as a safe place for sailors. You'll find the same thing in this space with 18' ceilings- cozy, strong, and comfortable triple bunk beds.
At The Society Hotel, we believe in making every traveler feel authentically connected to our community so they are ready to enjoy our beautiful city from day one. We offer three ways to experience our unique hotel: bunk rooms for the affordable community experience; private rooms with shared bathrooms for comfort without excess; and suites for a bit of affordable luxury. All of our rooms come with plush beds, 10-foot windows, high speed wifi, and a hospitality experience unlike any other.
Old Town is Portland's oldest neighborhood - the original epicenter of Portland, Oregon. It has a colorful history and an equally colorful present! We are the epicenter of Portland's street fashion scene, the nightlife district, as well as a social services haven for those most in need. So expect an eclectic mix from Old Town, and hopefully love it as much as we do!
  • El lugar es absolutamente limpio, bien organizado, todo su personal es muy amable

    Claudia2018-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • The Society Hotel is fantastic place to stay. The renovation of the former Sailor's Hotel is faultless. The re-use of materials and character of the building is fascinating. The look is industrial meets warm and welcoming and embraces the history of the hotel...and the attention to detail is in every aspect! All of the staff I met were super helpful. There is a great vibe, WiFi is fast and the food is awesome, really awesome. Don't think twice about the booking a bunk bed! They are private, clean and have the perfect amount of storage. I can't recommend The Society Hotel highly enough. Book it! You won't be disappointed.

    Kaz2016-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • First time in Portland and ended up staying here for the solo part of my trip. The hotel was clean, modern looking and very inviting. The people at the front desk were very kind and had great suggestions! The area is a little sketchy but I never felt like I was in danger. Overall, awesome experience and I would stay here again.

    Adriana2016-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • I came to visit Portland to get away for a few days before the holidays, and I could think of no better place to stay. The Society was affordable and classy. Plenty of storage. Amiable staff knowledgable about the city. I met a lot of great people in the common areas. Good times were had. Wouldn't have been possible without the Society.

    Kathryn2015-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place ! Clean and modern, the bathrooms were great. I had a bottom bunk in a little book and loved it. The location is great, and so close to public transport (airport tram, busses, tram stops). Would 11/10 recommend this place for people spending 1 night or 1 week in Portland !!

    Kate2015-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • The hotel is centric. Public transportation is across the street and there are plenty of places to see around. Even voodoo donuts is super close! The rooftop is amazing and the vibe is cool.

    Mireia2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • The shared bunk room was pretty big. Lots of beds, all with a privacy curtain. The check-in staff were very friendly!

    Dan2018-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • I had an excellent stay here at the Society Hotel. Staff was warm, welcoming and incredibly accommodating. Rooms and all shared areas were kept clean and neat. Will definitely be staying here the next time I come back to Portland. Cheers!

Cute little Tiny House! It used to be our boys' fort when they were young, now it is a comfortable little retreat for adventurers exploring Portland!
Cute little back yard "granny flat" cottage located near Mt Tabor park in very desirable neighborhood! The cottage is "Portland Style" construction with excellent insulation (R30), new windows, etc.. Great host, free internet, parking, furnished living space that is quite private.. The cottage contains an upstairs bedroom & sitting area. Note: There are steep stairs, so please take that into account ~ if you have joint pain, etc. this might not be the best choice of places to stay... The QUEEN size mattress is new and comfortable. Downstairs there is a small kitchen with stove, microwave and under the counter fridge. Also downstairs is a full bath with ceramic tile shower. Coffee maker and freshly ground coffee provided in the cottage as well as complimentary muffins. At times a made to order hot breakfast is available, message me to see if it will be available during your stay :-D. Guests are welcome to use washer/dryer in main house. Guests have use of the back yard with fruit trees and some berries when in season. Also the cottage is within walking distance of Division street shops, Pizzicato pizza, the 52nd & Foster street Food Carts and much more. The # 4 bus is just a block and a half away, which can take passengers west directly downtown. The TRI-MET app or website is easy to use & can help you get you anywhere from the airport, to downtown, to Powells Books, The Chinese Garden, and so on.
South Tabor Neighborhood is a quiet eclectic little neighborhood with many avid gardners, friendly neighbors, and gobs of dog lovers. We have community get-togethers, work parties, and holiday celebrations! If you are used to neighborhoods where no one knows each other or even speaks to each other this is definitely NOT the neighborhood for you :-D
  • We enjoyed our stay at Lisa's utterly cozy, snug-as-a-bug cottage in near Mt. Tabor. We only wish we could have stayed a bit longer to enjoy the closeness of several parks. The location is also very near/ convenient to the Pok Pok empire on SE Division, the Woodsman, Salt-and-Straw and Stumptown Coffee, if you like good food. We were visiting Portland at a time of a cold spell, but Lisa's cottage had heaters in each of the 3 small areas, so we were very comfy and toasty-warm. We also appreciated the fact that our pup could stay as well - there is a small back yard with a beautiful quince tree, and a nice Persimmon tree out front. Her breakfasts are indeed phenomenal - plentiful and generous - these non vegans ordered the Vegan Burrito Bar - and loved every last bite! The small kitchen is also filled with nice touches, coffee and teas, and a small pot of cream with the date in the fridge - so thoughtful! All in all, we definitely wish we could have stayed longer!

    Claudine2014-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was as listed, and Lisa made everything really nice. Including a homemade breakfast! The space is clean and cozy and the location wonderful. A wonderful Portland experience.

    andrea2015-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa and her family are great hosts! We had a great time at the cottage, and in the neighborhood. The unit is small and cozy and with two adults and a small child we pretty much maxed it out. But the ability to walk to the nearby park, and the tasty breakfast made this a great choice for us. We'd definitely consider this for the next year or two until our kid turns about 7.

    Jeff2014-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cute place to stay! It was quiet and homey, I slept like a log in the very comfortable bed. Really appreciated the breakfasts, they were wonderful and a great start to the day! It is a great neighborhood also, easy to get to public transportation, and a lovely little café and restaurants within a few minutes walking distance.

    Rosemary2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about our stay was so terrific I may never stay in a conventional hotel again. Lisa was absolutely wonderful and the cottage was the perfect location and had more than everything we needed. Breakfast was terrific! As I mentioned before - with all the solid restaurant offerings that Portland brings to the table, Lisa's breakfast easily met the standard. Thanks again!

    Leigh-Anne2013-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Lisa was excellent! Everything was ready when we arrived (late at night, mind you). The cottage was super cozy and had all the fixings of home. The neighborhood was so quiet and peaceful, and her neighbor gave us some fresh pears from his own backyard! If I could move here, I would!

    Joshua2014-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, very cute! We didn't meet Lisa but we were lucky to have Jen taking care of us and she was fantastic! We loved the neighbourhood, it's quiet and nice.

    Leenke2014-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous time at South Tabor Cottage where we were lucky enough to stay for a whole week. Lisa and Tom were wonderful hosts, happy to give us suggestions for things to do and places to eat and reminders to wear layers in the Portland weather. Lisa's breakfasts are creative and delicious and we suggest that you not miss the rosemary potatoes and her biscuits. The cottage is small and perfect with a little kitchen (fridge, sink, two-burner cooktop and a coffee maker) and bath downstairs and the bedroom upstairs overlooking the backyard and quince tree. We appreciated Lisa's flexibility about check-in time as we arrived very late in the evening. The cottage is situated in a nice neighborhood with plenty of places (restaurants, coffee shops) within a reasonable walking distance. The only caveat we have is that the stairs are a little bit steep for anybody with knee or hip issues, but that's really part of the charm of this cottage. All in all this is a perfect place to stay in Portland!

  • Kurt and Nathalie's place is one of the nicest Airbnb's in which I have ever stayed. Even cuter than the pictures, it is centrally located, private, and well-stacked. Perfect for the business traveler or for a personal stay. They are some of the nicest hosts I have interacted with as well.

Seen on the TV show "Tiny House Nation", CNN, Food & Wine Magazine, and the NY Post, the 350 sq ft Rustic Modern Tiny House was designed and built by us, your friendly AirBNB hosts. Guests call it "completely charming" and "the perfect urban getaway". Welcome! M+J
For years we've been daydreaming about building a little house one day. Then we finally made it happen - using our own two hands (DIY! The Portland way!) and with the help of some great friends. We had a vision in mind, but a lot of the details came together as we built, based on what materials we had available to us. Downstairs is the kitchen, living room with convertible couch, and bathroom with tiny clawfoot tub. Access the upstairs via STAIRS (not a ladder), where you'll find our loft bedroom with comfortable queen sized bed. Sustainable design is important to us, and the house is constructed and furnished from an eclectic array of reclaimed materials - squirreled away over the years, and now creatively reused and repurposed. See photo captions for a detailed walkthrough of the house. A PARTIAL SNAPSHOT • The trim and shelves are reclaimed from an old shed that used to be on the property. • Teak hardwood flooring, cedar shake siding - salvaged from high-end construction jobs. • The wood-clad windows salvaged from a horse farm in the Oregon countryside. • The kitchenette stove/refrigerator sourced from the Hood River History Museum. Instagram: @rusticmoderntiny
We love our walk/bike friendly N. Williams Ave neighborhood - it's been getting a lot of media attention as one of Portland's hottest neighborhoods. You are one block from the main corridor, bustling with award-winning restaurants, bars, coffee shops, wine bars, bakeries, yoga studios, and indie boutiques - it seems there's something new every week. Sunset Magazine loves its “low-key urban vibe", past guests call our neighborhood "awesome", "amazing" and "full of things to do". Our street has even made an appearance or two on the TV show Portlandia.
  • This was a wonderful place to stay. It was our first time in a tiny home and it was very comfortable even though we're both tall people. The space was cute but also very functional. Easy walking distance to a bunch of eateries. I like that you get a private little outdoor space. We had windows open whenever we were home but it still felt private. I would love to stay there again! My tip: if you get nervous about the prospect of going down the stairs in the middle of the night there is an adorable Himalayan salt lamp in the kitchen area that gives just enough light to see the stairs but doesn't disturb sleep.

    Gigi2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • It was a private little house and we enjoyed our stay there.

    Jennifer Brittain2018-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Location, location, location! Just a block away from coffee shops, restaurants, beer bars and more. Check-in couldn't have been easier and the house was as delightful in person as in the pictures.

    Nathaniel2018-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Jenna's place is just as described. It is all so well thought out and beautiful. The loft space is cozy so you have to watch your head going up the stairs. The location couldn't be better within a block of great restaurants, breweries, and shops on Williams St. and walkable to Mississippi Street. We had a car one day and were able to find street parking right in front of the house.

    Ruth2018-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved the tiny house. We had a great and comfortable stay. We enjoyed the outdoor space with table and chairs. The location was great (there are restaurants, coffee shops, bars and a grocery store very near... plus, Mississippi Ave - with great shops and restaurants - is a short walk away). We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

    Andrew2016-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great place with good access to restaurants, bars and shopping right around the corner. Very clean and cute as well. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks guys!

    Tyler2014-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our time in the Rustic Modern Tiny House. It's in a pretty, quiet neighborhood within an easy walk to restaurants and a great grocery store. It was fun staying in such a tiny and efficient house! The stairs are steeper than I expected, so I let my son take the loft and I slept on the sofa bed in the living room. Both beds were very comfortable. Guests may want to bring slippers for indoor wear, so you can keep your feet warm while respecting the "no shoes" policy.

    Michael2014-06-20T00:00:00Z

Lovely 2 br. cottage nestled beside a pond w water feature. Kitchen, open sleeping loft with skylights, bath w shower and washer/dryer. Lots of natural light. Can accommodate an entire family comfortably. Private entry on lg. lot through gated backyard.
Nestled in the back corner of a large lot under the canopy of a beautiful mimosa tree, this private cottage offers a full kitchen with sit-up bar, a full bath with a washer/dryer, and a sleeping loft with crow's nest. It's perfect for a couple, two couples, or a small family.
And all of this just 15 minutes from downtown.
  • This cottage was awesome! So quaint and peaceful, yet so close to an abundant amount of great restaurants, bars and shops. Lived it here!

    Patty2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • The place is very nice and down to earth, with a lot of custom details, they did and amazing job remodeling this place. There were a few small issues that are understandable since Jack and Cris are new in Airbnb. They were very fast taking care of small things that came up. The Wi-Fi was spotty and would be nice to get it fixed. The neighborhood was very lively and safe, with cafes and restaurants at a walking distance. We did enjoy our stay at Jack and Cris' and hopefully will be back sometime in the future.

    Miriam And Omar2016-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • More than we would have even thought to ask for :) Made our stay ten times better because we had such a beautiful place to come back to.

    Jeff2018-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say enough good things about the cottage! It was more than we'd hoped for. When we walked into the garden and cottage I knew we were going to have a wonderful weekend. Jack and Chris were wonderful hosts...showing us around when we arrived and then letting us settle in and feel at home. I asked a ton of questions before our trip and they answered everything super fast and were really accommodating. The location was perfect and we spent many happy mornings and nights strolling through the neighborhood. I would absolutely go back next time we're in Portland. It totally made our trip feel special and memorable.

    Cherie2016-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • This sweet little hideaway is in a great neighborhood with beautiful trees and close to yoga, cafes, a vegan restaurant and co-op health food store (all of which are huge pluses for me :)) I had the upstairs loft which was a delight. Not for the non-agile, as the stairs are extremely steep, but otherwise the windows were full of trees, and I slept like a baby as the nights were so quiet and peaceful. Hope to stay there again!

    Stephanie2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • I had never been to Portland before and experiences like I had with this cottage will definitely get me to come back. It was even more charming in person than in the pictures and Jack and Chris were great hosts. They greeted me upon arrival but gave me my privacy for the remainder of my stay. The neighborhood was lovely and I can't wait to return next time I'm in town.

    Caitlin2016-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful, peaceful hideaway in a nice neighborhood. There were lots of nice restaurants and coffee shops in the neighborhood, but our hosts provided a bag of great coffee along with a French press. It was so good, we purchased more coffee from Floyd's to take home.

    Kate Henry2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jack and Cris were lovely. Their cottage is walking distance to many shops and restaurants which makes for a nice stroll through a quiet neighbourhood. Thanks Jack and Cris!

Within easy walking distance is Pok Pok, Salt & Straw, Little Big Burger, Ava Gene's, Pinolo Gelato, Whiskey Soda Lounge, St. Honore, Townshends, Seven Virtues Coffee, food carts, New Seasons, etc. You’ll love the location. Also the vaulted ceilings with skylights, the garden, and the quiet! My cottage is perfect for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
The entire cottage is professionally cleaned after every stay, so it will be spotless upon arrival. Soft, thick Wamsutta towels, plush Charter Club duvet, comfy Ralph Lauren pillows with allergen protection. Coffee/tea and Shampoo/conditioner/bodywash provided. Electronic lock with a new code for every stay; You can check-in at any time with great security and no keys to lose!
Safe, residential, tree-lined street in Portland's hottest neighborhood! Lovely and quiet, but just a few blocks from "restaurant row" (Division St.)
  • Our stay at Heather's cottage was amazing! The place was cozy, well-decorated, and welcoming, with more than enough space for what you'd need while on vacation. The yogurt and coffee for breakfast in the morning was a nice touch, as well. The area was very quiet, but only two short blocks to a street full of great restaurants, bars, and shops. At this street it was a short bus ride to downtown, if desired. Nothing bad to say at all! Would definitely visit again.

  • This cottage is a gem in a great location! Heather makes your stay comforting, with easy communications during the stay. The cottage is spotless and so cozy after walking in the city rain. Great restaurants and stores are a couple blocks away. The neighborhood is adorable and gives you a taste of the most unique parts of Portland. Loved it and we will definitely be back!

    Sharon2018-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Heather's place is definitely worth to pay a visit. We love spending time in the real local area and Heather's place was happened to be the best choice.

    Stephy2018-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Heather's cottage! The high ceiling & skylight really does make the inside feel larger than it looks and it's in both a great neighbourhood (very quiet and safe) and location (within a very short walking distance of both Hawthorne & Division). The amenities are new, the bed is quite plush, internet is fast, and everything was very clean upon arrival. Breakfast snacks, beverages, and bottles of water were also provided in the mini fridge, which was thoughtful and really helpful. (No kitchen, so the place is better suited for travelers who plan to dine out during their trip.) Heather herself was very accessible and quick to respond to all of my messages. I appreciate her attention to detail and her concerns for her guests. All in all, a terrific experience. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    Frances2016-10-01T00:00:00Z

  • This spot is awesome, clean, quiet and in an awesome part of Portland, right next to all the amazing delights of Division Street. We were only here for one night but Heather came up with some great suggestions and Pok Pok's chicken wings blew our minds! Great recommendation! The cottage is small but well equipped and incredibly clean, perfect for our stay! We really felt like part of the neighbourhood being able to walk around the corner to some of the most delightful restaurants, ice cream parlours, pie shops and vintage shops we've come across to date on our road trip! Top work Heather, we'll definitely be back in Portland based on our experience!

  • This place was great. Easy parking, great location, walking distance to Alberta street and Division street. The unit was convenient and quiet. Definitely stay there again.
