  • What an amazing place to end our week in Oregon! Fantastic house. Fantastic view.Charming host. Great bed and a view from it as well. Comfy bedding and luscious towels. Very easy access to downtown and restaurants. Best of both worlds. Close to action or far from it. Highly recommend this experience.

  • Lance was super easy to communicate with, was really easy going and incredibly friendly! We only got to stay the one night but it was worth it! The views and company were what made our trip so memorable and amazing. The tree house is still close to the city centre that you feel like you're up and out of the way from the night life but can reach down town in less than 15 minutes if you wanted to. Great location, and great experience. And the french press coffee in the morning was delightful!

    Paige2015-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is hands down an in red I leave view. It was mesmerizing..and love the surrounding area.

  • Views that will take your breath away! Between the city lights, the mountains and the sunrise you will be in awe! Lance and Bukowski are friendly and great hosts. Oh, and an amazing place to run in the morning. 5 Stars!! 👍🏻😃👍🏻 Thanks, Lance!

  • Great views, cute cat, friendly host

    Vivian2017-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is truly unique. The views are unparalleled. Bucky the cat will greet you every morning and Lance genuinely wants you to feel at home. The house is only a short ride to the city and we never had trouble getting an uber. Lance is very knowledgeable and more than happy to offer suggestions on entertainment. Everything considered this is a one of a kind experience you will not be able to forget.

    Daniel2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lance was friendly, warm, and inviting. The views from his home were as amazing as the pictures suggested! Lance was available to answer questions about the area as well as a few of his favorite local eats (and he did not disappoint!) Incredibly helpful in telling us in advance of bridge closures and to anticipate traffic on our last day there. Thanks Lance!

Unique hand built cob cottage next to lg. pond w water feature. Lg. fenced and gated yard. Gentle, curving space-made from sand, straw, water and earth . Featured in multiple international publications. The floor is also earthen clay with added radiant heat. Beautiful natural light. It's truly a magical place.
It's a curvilinear earthen structure hand sculpted from water, sand, straw, and clay earth. It features a radial roof with a central pagoda-like skylight. When building the Cob, we used reclaimed and natural materials when ever possible. The insulation in the ceiling is made from pulverized reclaimed blue jeans and the floor is made from the same earthen clay. It has a Dutch door, so you can open the top part for additional ventilation. It also has air conditioning available in the warmer months and a radiant heat floor. The bed is a very comfortable double with a memory foam mattress topper. The bathroom for the cottage is in the main house, about 40 steps to the back door. Inside you’ll find a large sitting room and full kitchen as well as your bath with claw foot tub and shower. These spaces are shared with 2 Airbnb rooms in the house. If you find the bath busy, our full bath is available upstairs on the second floor.
We are located in a sweet older neighborhood in inner SE Portland, built around the turn of the century. The neighborhood is extremely walkable/bikeable, and just two blocks from one of Portland's great restaurant rows, filled with unique locally owned restaurants, coffeehouses, bars, food carts, pot shops, ice cream vendors, pizza joints, clothing retailers, yoga studios and yes, even an old-school hardware store.
  • Friendly, cozy, feels like home. A++

  • The Cobb is just as pictured and described. It is lovelyand in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood.

    Karen2018-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our hosts had everything prepared for a lovely evening stay. The description and pictures matched perfectly. We enjoyed sitting out in the courtyard by the pond and fountain!

    Anni2016-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Had a most enjoyable time. Cosy space. Great city access and plenty of good eating a short walk to drive away.

    Randolph2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy cottage, and the hosts are very welcoming and responsive. The neighborhood is beautiful, and the home is about a 10 minute Lyft ride to downtown Portland. It is a great value for the price, and comfortably fits two people.

    Linnea2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I spent four nights here and really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is unique and charming. Jack and Chris are wonderful hosts, and they live in a great neighborhood near some good eats and with plentiful parking on the street. Depending on how flexible you can be, the bathroom situation may be an issue. You will be sharing with other guests, so you may not be able to use the bathroom whenever you wish. A couple of minor issues arose during our stay, and Jack and Chris were very quick to respond and remedy them. I would definitely recommend staying here when you're in Portland.

    Jake2018-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Jack and Cris have an amazingly beautiful character home with so many personal touches. Beautiful back yard and pond, the kitties are so friendly and it was so close to such a neat boutique neighbourhood and shops! The cob house was welcoming and so delightful and easy access to using the kitchen, washroom and lounge in the main house. Loved our stay and visiting with Jack and Cris on occasion!

This wonderful, private little gem is just a few easy walking blocks from plentiful drinking, dining, dispensing, yoga & coffee spots. You will be one block from Woodlawn Park, 2 blocks from a bus and a 5 minute drive from the Alberta Shopping and Arts District. It's all so comfortably close by, but not close enough to disturb your relaxing, sweet retreat. Come have it all while living small in this tiny, artsy home away from home!
This space was built as a Model T Garage in 1926 behind a 1915 bungalow but it has had a face lift and has taken on a new life as a cozy, warm freestanding studio made mostly from reclaimed materials. A "tiny house" if you will, sweetly positioned between fruit trees and a garden sitting area. The sleeping loft comfortably sleeps two and there is a futon below the loft where one can enjoy a book while the other naps above. Occasionally you will hear the trains in the distance which adds a touch of nostalgia and you get to wake to the relaxing clucking and cooing of the neighborhood hens as this area has a nice spattering of urban farms and lots of mature trees. For your comfort, this as a "pet dander free" space. No pets, thanks. The table pictured here has been replaced with a "garden shed" counter that houses a small, removable basin sink. There is also a rustic, rough hewn armoire to hang clothes and tuck away your backpacks. The little kitchenette corner is stocked with utensils, a two burner cooktop, a mini fridge, a microwave, coffee and a coffee press. The studio's setup is more akin to a cabin, and as many cabins go, there is no bathroom. You will be given a key to the main house so please feel comfortable enough to come in and use the facilities. By the way, it is insulated, well heated, and stocked with plenty of blankets so it is a wonderful, warm hideaway in the fall and winter months as well. Yep, snuggly wifi too. The yard is plentiful with flowers and fruit bearing trees (figs and delicious yellow plums) in the summertime, as well as an array of veggies in the gardens where you can sit amongst the trees and regroup after a hard day at Powells Books. It's within a 5 minute walk from the heart of Woodlawn which has some fantastic spots to shop, drink, dance, and dine: -Firehouse Restaurant, somewhat romantic with good service -Woodlawn Coffee House, for plenty of people watching -Breakside Brewery, to grab a bite and catch up on the game -Grand Army Tavern, have some pork with your...pork : ) -Good Neighbor Pizza, laid back & late night too -P's & Q's Market serves yummy meals and a few grocery items -The Village Ballroom, for Square Dance and Special events -Uptown Cycles, sales and repairs -Portland Girl, spa day anyone? -Greener Grasses, well-rated dispensary -Koken Market, for almost any beer you want, snacks -Café Eleven, art, coffee, lunch & some pastries -Oregon Public House, the nation's 1st nonprofit pub -The Highwater Mark, rock pub with pool & hip hop on last Fridays -Tamale Boy, authentic & delicious with lots of outside seating -Bassato Gelato, 12 rotating flavors+bagels in the morning -HighWheel Mead, open Thurs-Sunday -(Seasonally) Woodlawn Farmer's Market at Woodlawn Triangle, Sat. 10-2 Downtown is a 15 minute drive. The Alberta Arts District is also just minutes away so you can hop on a bike and be right in the middle of the jam-packed Last Thursday Art Walk or make a day of it with shopping, dinner and some delicious ice cream from the infamous Salt & Straw. Then come "home" to your quieter retreat where you can just relax and lay in the hammock.....ahhhh. And as the area is well surrounded by beautiful, mature trees, you may decide to enjoy dinner in the love seat swing under the pergola and watch the evening sky. It is a wonderful theatre for watching small bats do their sky routine in the distance. Flying in? This spot is only 10 minutes from the airport. And while in Portland, you may want some wheels! Well, this location is very close to Zipcars and you can sign up with them or Car2go on their sites in advance of your stay. Check out Turo or Getaround to grab a vehicle to tool But if you want to explore the city on two wheels, Everybody Bike Rentals or Ebikes ( electric bike rentals) are the spots to hit first (10 min. by bus). They provide helmets and locks too! ***If you don't see the dates available on the calendar that you had hoped for or if you are traveling with more than two people, please check out my other listing (#95313) which is also a private studio at the same location. It is larger and complete with a private entry and bathroom. Just ask me! Parking is close and the livin' is pretty easy. So please get that profile completed, then contact me and come kick up your heels and stay a while! Oh! P.S. Please read the description, house rules and post a pic of you in your profile beforehand just so that everyone is on the same page. Much appreciated. Cheers!
  • My husband and I would recommend this place - close to the Woodlawn neighborhood and the coffee house. Andree was very accommodating and made sure to show us around. Great host and fun place to stay at, cute little loft!

    Heidi2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I loved staying at Andrée's tiny house. She was a welcoming and kind host and very clear on communication. The unit was super cute and an easy drive to explore Portland.

    Allyson2017-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Andree was so lovely. And especially the rustic barn! It's a great location, near some nice neighborhood bars, and conveniently a few minutes from the highway. The neighborhood is quiet and the barn is so nicely decorated. I highly recommend staying here.

    Ken2015-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sad I was only there for two nights -- the loft was such a relaxing retreat. Andrée was very welcoming and friendly. The location was such that I could easily bike everywhere I wanted to go. Overall great experience.

    Amanda2013-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • The space was cute and provided everything we needed, however it was much smaller than expected with additional furniture than shown in photos.

    Rebekah2013-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Cute place to stay, but could be better for price.

    Alexandra2017-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is an awesome and unique place to stay. It has everything you need and you'll be wanting to how everyone the funky place you're staying in while in PDX. Andée is very accommodating and helpful. There's a mini cafe/grocery store 2 blocks away called P's & Q's that I can't recommend enough either. Would totally stay here again!

    Andy2013-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot even begin to describe how adorable this studio is! When I arrived I really thought that I would be a little cold and scared in the dark - but it was super warm, and it felt like a tiny little spot of Portland that I could call my own for my stay. It was a great refuge after a long trip down the coast! It's also really well situated in an arty part of town close to boutique shops and really cool bars and restaurants. I really got the Portland experience. Even though that bathroom and the internet is accessible in the main house - it's not an issue at all and Andrée is super welcoming to have you come in and out whenever you need to. Also the cat and puppy are both really friendly. Great stay, I hope I can come back sometime and stay again!

With lots of space and light, this studio has everything that makes a house feel like a home: a fireplace, a full kitchen, a queen bed, oak floors, handmade furniture, cable tv including HBO, and a private entrance.
This studio is a welcoming space in the center of an historic neighborhood that offers a unique perspective on the city of Portland. Ask me for in-depth info on where to go and what to see in the Irvington neighborhood, the Alberta Arts District, and other parts of Northeast Portland! Over the years, I’ve gotten to know quite a few incredible places to eat, drink, shop, and explore here. Located at the hub of some of Portland’s most interesting neighborhoods, this studio places the whole city at your fingertips. But adventure can be tiring, and the studio offers ample opportunity to put your feet up. Portland can get nippy at night, and a real wood fireplace, stocked with firewood from locally harvested and dried urban hardwood trees, is the perfect way to warm up and feel at home. The apartment has high ceilings and a great fireplace; it’s minimally decorated but has all the important things: a queen bed, a couch with a coffee table, a small desk, a dresser and extra shelves, and a kitchen table. The kitchen comes fully stocked with the essentials for cooking a real meal, and the bathroom always has towels, soap and shampoo. The space is located on the first floor of a large 1910 home, which was converted to an eight-plex in the 1940s to adapt to the demands of WWII. I have lived in Irvington for 14 years and Portland for 25, and this house is one of the most unique that I’ve seen.
The Irvington neighborhood, now only a ten minute bike ride from downtown, was once a trolley-car suburb to the just-fully-developed West side. Designated a historic district by the National Register of Historic Places in 2010, Irvington is filled with early 20th century homes that have been preserved in their original states. Irvington has become a livable hub of Northeast Portland as a whole, with shops and restaurants of all kinds, within walking distance, surrounding the neighborhood. Irvington proper boasts more than a few community and culinary destinations of its own.
  • La casa es muy bonita y limpia. Todo funciona: chimenea, agua caliente, estufa... Todo. El barrio es hermoso. Parece de un cuento. El acceso al centro de la ciudad es fácil y más o menos rápido.

    Ruben2018-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • The host had provided extra thoughtful amenities and the listing had everything we needed.

    Jonathan2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Everything in the rental listing was 100% accurate. The apartment was beautiful, clean, and full of light. The neighborhood was incredible! I would definitely stay here again!

    Amanda 2014-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Jason was great! He checked in with us to see when we were going to arrive to make sure everything would be smooth for us. He was available to let us into the space when we arrived in Portland. The fireplace was amazing, and Jason provided ample firewood and resources to get the fire going. The studio is a perfect size for 2 people. I have allergies and loved having access to a full kitchen to cook in a smaller space. It is harder to come by so we really appreciate that. The location is wonderful. The neighborhood is quiet residential and the bus stop is 5 minutes away. Its less than a 10 minute walk to many restaurants, bars, coffee shops, etc. Great location and loved the quiet at night when we came back to the flat. Portland was frozen over and cold when we arrived so we didn't get to take advantage of his cheap bike rentals but its a great perk!

    Meaghan2016-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Loved (Email hidden by Airbnb) munication was easy, and if we had questions we got a response almost immediately. Would definitely stay here again!

This quaint totally furnished garden cottage, one bedroom apt. is private with it's own key, private entrance, and courtyard in the downstairs of our historic brick English tutor home in Laurelhurst, a beautiful old Portland community! Read our outstanding reviews!
This quaint 1 bedroom furnished apt. is located downstairs in our historic brick English tutor home. It has a separate key, private entrance, and courtyard. The space is well-lit with two windows and has a back door to a beautiful garden and patio in the backyard as well as a side door to the courtyard. The location is Laurelhurst - one of Portland's oldest and most beautiful planned communities on a quiet, tree lined street within 10 minutes of the city and 15 min. from the airport. Major shopping, wonderful restaurants and one of Portland's most beautiful parks are all within walking distance. This ideal location is only two blocks from a major bus line and 5 blocks from the MAX train. It is also within walking distance of favorite east side shopping and dining areas, including Hawthorne, Belmont and 28th street. When you enter this mid-century decorated apartment you will immediately feel at home! You will find a comfortable queen sized bed, overstuffed chair and desk with the latest mesh technology wireless internet, flat screen TV with cable, Blu-ray CD player, a collection of movies in the bedroom. The newly tiled bathroom has a tub and shower and, although there is not a separate "living room", the kitchen and pantry is fully furnished with everything you may need to make your own meals if you choose (i.e. microwave, gas stove, refrigerator, blender, coffee maker, dishes, pots/pans, spices, condiments, etc.). Other amenities include a private courtyard, washer/dryer in the apt., and easy walking distance to bus, train, restaurants and shopping. More information on our historic home can be found on Oregon Encyclopedia website. Search for "Brick House Beautiful". Our home has also been in "Better Home and Gardens" magazine and has been twice on the cover of "Old House Journal". If we are home when you arrive, we will be happy to give you a tour of our home and offer you a cup of tea or a glass of wine while you have complete access to our English gardens, courtyard and barbecue during your stay. We think you will be pleased if you choose to stay in the "Quaint English Garden Apartment " located in our beautiful historic home!
Laurelhurst is an historic old Portland neighborhood with beautiful homes, street trees and a huge park a few blocks away designed by the Olmsted's who designed Central Park in NYC. You will see how homes in Laurelhurst are each very different and unique from craftsmen with large porches to smaller bungalows with beautiful gardens.
  • Lovely place just as described. Hosts were very pleasant and attentive. Extra points for Snowball, the cat.

    Lorraine2017-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much Sue and Bob for everything. I spend 2 months with you and it was a wonderful experience. Portland is an awesome city! The house is clean, pretty and close to the city center and hangout street! Bob and Sue are very helpfull and nice. Thanks again from France! Caroline.

    Caroline2014-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in Sue & Bob's English cottage was a great introduction to Portland. Located in the beautiful Laurelhurst neighborhood, it was peaceful yet close to many restaurants and parks. Although Sue & Bob weren't in town, they were extremely communicative and made sure we had everything we needed. After a very long day of travel, I arrived late at night only to find a bowl of snacks/fruit and a bottle of wine waiting for us! I was moving to Portland and stressed from the move, so these little details made all the difference. Also, the weather was amazing during our stay and the 2 available bikes were perfect for a quick ride downtown. Also, there was a bus stop only 5 min walk which was really convenient. Even after our stay, Sue was really helpful in providing recommendations for our road trip to the coast. Fantastic host and wonderful experience. Definitely recommend.

    Lauren2015-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our 4-night stay with Sue and Bob. Their home is lovely (thanks for the tour!), and the Laurelhurst neighborhood is charming and ideally located. Sue and Bob go out of their way to ensure that you have everything you need - a well-stocked kitchen and bathroom, comfortable bedding, and a detailed book of instructions and information. Parking is on-street, but no problem. We were consistently able to park right out front. We would absolutely recommend staying here.

    Art2015-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Bob's place is a wonderfully whimsical space and a one-of-a-kind home. They are great hosts and communicators.

    Gregg2017-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great neighborhood and one of a kind house. Perfect for visitors with an interest in history and architecture. Convenient location and easy on street parking.

    Tom2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Bob were very hospitable and their home is stunning! Don't even get me started on the garden... goals! We had a wonderful stay; their home is within a short distance of trendy restaurants and shopping. It's also near Laurelhurst Park and public transit. Def recommend.

    Mari2017-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Bob, along with their home, exceeded our expectations with how welcoming, generous, beautiful and accommodating their home was. We were warmly welcomed into their front door to receive a small tour of their historic home and then shown the apartment we were renting. We were surprised to find a bottle of champagne on ice with glasses, waiting for us in our kitchenette (we told them upon booking the room that is was our honeymoon), so sweet. They had everything we needed in their well appointed apartment. One of the best neighborhoods in Portland, on a beautiful street. We highly recommend staying here (but only if you are under 6'5" because the ceilings are short!). Thanks again for the great experience!

Everything you need is here at our brand new guesthouse loft: a luxurious, lofted queen bedroom; high ceilings with floods of natural light, a modern kitchen, full bath with heated tile, comfy sleeper sofa for extra guests, and Stumptown Coffee with organic cream. The loft rests at the back of the property, one block from bustling Division St, and short blocks from restaurants, coffeeshops, & the Woodsman Tavern, named “One of America’s Best Bars,” by Esquire Magazine.
The loft is located in our backyard in Southeast Portland. While we are only steps away if you need us, the space is very private. In fact, guests report that they forget they are in the middle of the city when they stay in our space! We live in a desirable and fun neighborhood, and parking can be tight! Guests usually find parking within a block of our house. At night or during busy times of the day, parking can be found within two short blocks. Guests may feel free to use our driveway for loading/unloading. We do not have a TV in the guesthouse, but offer excellent wifi access.
Our neighborhood has everything you will need, mostly within a five-minute walk! And if you want to visit a different part of the city, there is convenient public transportation around the corner. Check out excellent coffeeshops blocks away (Good Coffee and Stumptown), delicious and intimate restaurants (Bete Lukas, Mi Mero Mole, The Woodsman), or walk up to Mt. Tabor Park. If you're into yoga, there's an awesome space (Yoga Union) around the corner.
  • Our stay at Laurel and Brian's guest house was perfect. Everything was as described and the space was SUPER clean. It's located in a great little neighborhood with plenty to explore, eat and drink thanks to the nice list of recommendations. This is a great place to stay if you want to be a tad off the beaten path but close enough to enjoy a long walk or short bike ride into the city.

    Tim2017-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Laurel and Brian have a gem. Excellent spot, great food nearby with great recommendations in the guestbook. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better location east of downtown. Walking distance to every quintessential Portland locale: Pok Pok, Stumptown, Por Que No?, Good Coffee, Salt and Straw,Kim Jong Grillin, Petite Provence ... the list goes on. Super clean comfy guest house, very quiet street, lots of privacy, no TV (which is always great on vaca), the perfect size. Must stay.

    Adam2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Laurel and Brian have a great place;it is very tidy and clean.

    Keenan2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Super cute, bright, and clean loft for our trip to Portland. It was hard getting out of bed on those cozy rainy mornings! Despite being within walking distance to all the great eateries and shops off SE Division & Hawthorne, street parking was easy (big deal for those of us who hate city parking) and we felt completely secluded when we retreated for the night. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable and modern space while staying in Portland!

    MyLan2017-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Can't say enough how much we enjoyed our weekend at Brian and Laurel's guest house. They both greeted us upon arrival and even gave us a gift card to a bakery to excuse a little bit construction on the walk way to the guest house. The guest house was portrayed accurately and is brand new and modern with all amenities included. Love the shower/bathroom! Great neighborhood in SE Portland walking distance to all the growing life on Division Street. Thank you Brian and Laurel for your hospitality! We will definitely be back again!

    Salvador2016-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Laurel and Brian's place was amazing! Peaceful, brand new, spacious, gorgeous design..had everything one could need. It's a perfect location for some of the best eating and drinking of delicious things in Portland, and they made it extremely easy to check in and out. Would for sure recommend this place!

    Justine2016-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had the perfect stay! The location fit our interests and needs perfectly, and the guest house was a comfortable place to call home for our few days in Portland. The amenities provided were greatly appreciate and the bed, oh so comfortable! Laurel and Brian helped make our trip to Portland memorable :)

Where Bali meets Portland. Come relax in this newly, beautifully designed, private mixed use accommodation. Just five short blocks from Portland's hip N Williams district. A rooftop deck.
I have a total of five rooms, each listed separately in this unique mixed-use building where I also live and work. You will enter just past the Ned Ludd front patio via a private, secure, gated entrance off of MLK at NE Failing street and follow the stairway up to the second level. This is the larger of the three rooms. Each room is newly refurbished and furnished with beautiful, responsibly sourced tropical salvage out of Indonesia and locally re-purposed wood/trim doors and windows. Your private room comes with a window, a wall-mounted flatscreen t.v., small refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, free wi-fi an armoire, an ornate sink carved out of stone, down pillows, down comforters, a king-sized posturepedic mattress and zen colored walls that might just make you think you are in... Bali?
NEPO (aka NE Portland) is hip and cool and like so many hip Portland neighborhoods–it is ever-expanding and reinventing itself. New restaurants, shops, boutiques and businesses are popping up all over. Whether you are looking for a place to lay your head for the night while you get out and explore during the day, or you are just looking for a place you can hole up and relax, we've got you covered. The options and amenities you will find here in your little oasis in NEPO are plentiful.
  • The bed is super comfortable but there was a little noise form the road in our room 202. The roof terrace is a beautiful oasis.

  • Great place to stay.

    Pei2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great host and location. Spacious room & very reasonable price. Would definitely stay there again.

  • We had an awesome stay at this place in June. The room was really big, and just as pictured. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the shower was really nice (hot water, clean, good water pressure). Not a problem at all to share the bathroom facilities. Only thing to note about the room is that it does face the street which is pretty busy, so light sleepers should bring ear plugs. The neighborhood is great, an easy walk to anything you could want or need during your Portland stay. We ate our breakfast on the rooftop patio to enjoy the sun and it was lovely. We didn't get to meet Timothy but his son was there and very welcoming and laid back. We would definitely stay here again, felt it was a great value.

  • Great launchpad for NE Portland! Super comfortable accommodations (sheets and pillows were very comfy). Tim has a lovely patio and bikes for the use. Great little neighborhood bakery next door. Would definitely stay there again...Stayed in two rooms during our short weekend...The Spacious room was perfect for us, but the Quaint room was a bit too cramped for two people but still quite nice for the price.

  • Great gut, the room was awesome and perfect for what we needed for our two days in Portland. The area was also very cool. I highly recommend Gravy for breakfast.

    Ryan2016-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great space, the bedroom looks exactly as the photos. The bed is cozy and nice towels. The room is right next to a great cafe with homemade baked goods called Bushel and Peck and dinner at Ned Ludd is a must. You can walk to Alberta St, North Williams and Mississippi within 20 mins or less where there are great neighborhood restaurants, yoga and coffee shops.

    Christina2015-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely room - spacious, quiet, serene, and a sweet neighborhood with some very yummy dining options literally just next to Timothy's home. Pictures were absolutely accurate and Timothy was exceptional at communicating and making himself available. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 not a 5 is because there was a bit of construction underway on a couple rooms and out on the deck which would've been nice to have known before arriving. Also, had I known the shower was being shared by all other guests I would've brought shower shoes.

In the heart of Portland's NW 23rd District, our place is nestled close to some of Portland's finest shops & cafes: Salt & Straw, Barista, and Fireside to name a few. The apartment has become a "destination" in itself due to the amazing natural light & Scandinavian interior design - even garnering its own hashtag on Instagram (#theaptupstairs).
"The Apartment Upstairs" is perfect for couples, urban adventurers, and creative travelers. Private bedroom outfitted with luxury Portuguese linen, plush Turkish cotton towels, waffle knit robes & slippers, & alpaca wool throws from our friends over at Parachute Home. All room decor and artwork is done by fellow Portland & Los Angeles creatives.
  • Benjamin and his house-mates were excellent hosts and made us feel very comfortable! We have a wonderful time in Portland, and coming back to their immaculately decorated home with the most comfortable bed and incredible pillows was a treat. Would definitely recommend their home!

  • The apartment is in a house with well-maintained antique character, in a great neighborhood with urban amenities. The room is a bit small, but comes with some nice touches such as bathrobes.

Relaxed + modern one bedroom basement apt. Bright + spacious with a handmade Portland touch. Comfortable for two, it's a great home-base for the traveler wanting to explore PDX! Located in charming Woodlawn neighborhood. Near the park, bars and bus lines.
Handmade by us! We're a craftsman and an interior designer who are not afraid to get our hands dirty. Stay in this remodeled basement where every detail was thought, planned and carefully constructed. We value high-end, conscious design. Our motto is maintain, reclaim and sustain. All of the exposed wood was salvaged from this 100 year old home! We love our house and hope that you do too. It's a great, peaceful place to crash at the end of the day. A plush queen sized bed, a huge doorless walk-in bathroom (ie. divided by a wall), glass walk-in shower and a tiny but efficient kitchen were top priorities when we made this place. The kitchen has dishwasher/fridge/oven stocked with all the pots/pans and plates to make a nice meal at home. Its always a shifting art-installation, so don't be surprised if the art in the listing photos change. We like to collect art and objects during our travels.
We're one block from 2 major bus lines (the 8 goes to downtown) and our neighborhood market, P's & Q's. 3 blocks from Woodlawn park + 5 blocks to our neighborhood hub: breweries, dance hall, coffee shop and restaurants. Woodlawn is a great area and closely located to Alberta Arts District, Mississippi and Kenton.
  • Such a beautiful space and very close to great restaurants. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again.

  • Anna & Jeremy’s space is the perfect chic and cozy spot for a little Portland getaway. I’d recommend it for a solo or couples’ retreat— a lovely space, very relaxing. It is stylish and spotlessly clean. A perfect spot to wind down with a cup of tea (provided) and a good book. Speaking of books.. the visitors ‘Welcome’ notebook creatively offers fantastic tips on sites and dining within Portland— including a hand-drawn map of the local neighborhood— there was some great food in walking distance to the Airbnb. Anna & Jeremy were lovely hosts; Anna provided exceptional and kind communication. I had the pleasure to meet them both in person, and they are very pleasant and down-to-earth. I’d stay here every visit to Portland if I could. I’m already anxious to go back for a snooze in the cozy bed.. and a visit to Ps&Qs for a breakfast sandwich!

    Nicki2018-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Jeremy’s place was wonderful. A beatutiful space with warm hospitality.

    Rich2017-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cute, clean and cozy! Anna was great and communication/check-in/check-out was easy. We'd definitely recommend it and stay here again!

    Katie2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • This home was so beautiful and in a great location! Lots of pub-type places and a cute market nearby. The house had everything we needed and an amazing shower! We definitely recommend this place to everyone!

A quiet, cozy bedroom & bathroom on the ground floor of a beautiful, modern new home in a verdant, friendly Southeast Portland neighborhood. Enthusiastic greeting by very friendly dogs & cat comes standard!
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE REQUESTING ACCOMMODATION. As a courtesy to our guests, our check-in time is 2:00 pm; however, as we both work weekdays, we cannot have the rooms ready until 5:30 or so. What this means is that our guests are welcome to make themselves at home in their living room or just drop their bags off and head out exploring, but they won't be able to rest their weary heads or hit the showers until we've had a chance to get home and tidy up. (PLEASE NOTE: This listing highlights the primary guest bedroom available, but for parties of 3 or 4 people, we do have a secondary bedroom that also features a queen-sized bed. If you are making a reservation for two people and you wish to book both bedrooms, PLEASE EXPLICITLY TELL US SO, as the default for two guests is ONE bedroom; for a two-guest reservation, the cost will be the listed room rate + $30/night. All guests share the same bathroom.) There is almost an entire floor available in our newish home smack-dab in the heart of fun, accessible Southeast Portland! This means that our guest(s) get not only their own quiet bedroom, but also a private full bathroom AND their own nicely-appointed living room (please note: the first-floor living room is NOT private, as it does not have a ceiling and is the way between the front door of the house and the stairs to the second floor). We are steps away from a frequent-service bus line, a terrific sandwich shop that's open for breakfast, lunch AND dinner, a pizza joint, a Starbucks, and, best of all, a Trader Joe's! The house is about two miles south of the trendy Hawthorne district, one mile south of nationally-recognized Division Street, and about four miles east of downtown Portland. The house itself is a beautiful, soaring Doug Fir- and hemlock-constructed dream home decorated with one-of-kind glass art pieces and potted succulents. Our guests have access to our fabulous kitchen in addition to their own first-floor amenities. We have a very friendly housecat you will likely meet during your stay, but the guest bedroom and guest bathroom doors are kept closed for the comfort of allergen-sensitive guests. We also have two friendly dogs who will greet you eagerly upon your arrival, but who otherwise spend their time hanging out with us and don't wander much to the guest floor. Lastly, to our guests during the colder months: the guest floor tends to be the coolest in the house, and we provide space heaters and afghans for your comfort, but we figure we should let you know ahead of time that if you run cold, ours may not be the ideal place for your stay.
Our neighborhood is so great! We are really close to several cool Portland hubs, but we're on a relatively quiet residential street so we truly have the best of all worlds.
  • Brad & Becca were communicative and organized. The place was a great mix of private and open space. They were clearly prepared exemplified by their clean rooms, extra pillows, blow dryer and a noise machine.

    David2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived before Brad and Becca came home from work. We opened the lock box and obtained the key to their home, letting ourselves in. We were greeted by their sweet kitty who was friendly but did not stick around. Brad and Becca had chocolates waiting for us on either side of the bed. A list of available items kept in the closet, as well as the wifi connection information was readily available. Once Brad and Becca arrived they were were very welcoming but did not intrude. A creative, fun map of Portland created by Brad was suspended on a wall. It was really helpful! We slept great, the shower was great and I was able to make a delicious cup of coffe every morning. Brad and Becca were off to work so my daughter and I had the kitchen to ourselves. Oh, they also have a wonderful dog too! He came in to say hello a few times but otherwise stayed away. I would definately rent from Brad and Becca again. :)

    Carolyn2016-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay @ Brad and Becca. It's everything as described. A wonderful house with everything in it. Great neighbourhood to start your Portland tour. We loved having the pets around. The hosts are really kind and easy going.

    Ewoud2014-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • They were very welcoming and friendly. The place was very well kept and beautiful. They let us come and go at our leisure while making sure we were enjoying out stay. I would definitely recommend their place.

    Jessica2014-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful space! Brad and Becca have put a lot of time into making folks feel welcome and it is obvious in all the attention to detail. I was especially appreciative that they were able to accommodate me so last minute!

    Kelly2015-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time staying at the treehouse. Every corner had personal touches to make your stay more enjoyable. My favorite piece was the hand crafted decorative map board that had food and sight seeing recommendations. We didn't have much time to hang out with Brad and Becca because of our schedules, which I regret, but even after coming home late in the night from a show the house had a nice coming home comfort. Also, Diego the cat was our buddy, making being away from my fur babies more tolerable haha. I would even say they keep the space cleaner than most hitels! Next time I hope we won't be so shy and can actually socialize more but in the mean time we recommend this place for your stay!

    Amber2016-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really nicely done. The hosts have really made quite a cozy place to visit the city. Easy access to public transport was super helpful. The accommodations were awesome! You can really tell they have put thought into making guests comfortable.

    Terra2017-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Brad & Becca are amazing, and their house is equally as fantastic. Their condo is a convenient 30 min walk or 5 min drive from some of Portland's best restaurants. The neighbors are extremely friendly. My visit was definitely made a bit more memorable and carefree because of our stay with Brad & Becca.

Newly constructed in 2016, our private detached garden studio sits in the heart of a quiet residential neighborhood and is a short stroll to top restaurants, food carts, and shopping in hip SE Portland. The space is compact -- about 240sf -- but cozy, bright and a great place to unwind after a day of exploring Portland!
Our cozy studio includes a comfy queen bed, vaulted ceilings, full bathroom, kitchenette, and small sitting area. It's fully detached from the main house, so offers complete privacy. Skylights, french doors, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows provide an abundance of natural light, even on a grey, drizzly Portland day, as well as views of the west hills. It's small --about 240sf-- but the space is well utilized with many amenities such as wireless Bluetooth speaker, Portland maps and guides, and comfy pillows and blankets to make it feel like home. The space is best suited for guests seeking a cozy place to relax and recharge after a day of exploring Portland; If you're needing more of a "hangout spot," this may not be the best fit. The studio has a full bathroom with shower (no tub). The kitchenette includes a mini fridge, sink, instant hot water, coffee maker, coffee press, microwave and everything you need for reheating leftovers from the many restaurants and food carts nearby. Complementary tea and coffee are provided along with a long list of restaurant recommendations. There’s a growler available for filling, which you can do at The Imperial Bottle Shop on Division Street and at many local breweries and grocery stores nearby.
We love living in the heart of the Richmond neighborhood! Nestled on a quiet, residential street, we're a short stroll (about 1/3mi) to hip and eclectic restaurant and retail districts of SE Portland. A 4-block walk brings you to a bus stop that can get you most anywhere else in town. A short walk from the studio brings you to food, shopping and entertainment (to name a few of our favorites): PokPok, Salt & Straw, Ava Gene's, Bollywood Theater; Food Cart pods, Little T Bakery, St Honore; A myriad of boutiques, shops and independent movie theaters on Hawthorne, Clinton and Division streets. You'll likely meet some friendly neighborhood cats during your stay, but due to severe allergies, our studio is pet- and allergen-free. You may also spot our eyepatch-wearing, kung fu-performing neighbor (and good friend) practicing in the street, sometimes alongside his 4yo daughter. He’s a world-renowned martial artist and teacher, is super friendly and adds some true Portland character to our otherwise sleepy neighborhood.
  • Melissa’s place is awesome!! If it’s available, don’t hesitate to book it!

    Sam And Stephanie2018-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about our stay at Melissa's studio. It was absolutely (Website hidden by Airbnb) comfortable and the best location ever! 10 minute walk to some of the best restaurants in Portland, and just a short Uber/Lyft/bus ride to downtown and other areas. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to get the real Portland experience. Melissa and Brian were wonderful hosts, very friendly and communicative. Can't wait to come back!

    Erin2017-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place:)

    Bo2017-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • As all previous reviews have already stated, Melissa is a super host and her place is amazing. We had a lovely and very relaxing time at her studio and hope to come back soon. Thank you Melissa and Brian!

    Maria2018-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a delightful urban oasis! Melissa's place was a beautifully appointed, light and airy cottage overlooking the lush gardens of her back yard in a quiet residential neighborhood of Southeast Portland. I would have loved to have stayed longer than I did just to treat myself to the comforts of home she provided. I loved the little touches - fresh flowers, tea, coffee, sparkling water, chocolate!, little notes to make the visit as easy as it could be. Truly a nourishing experience. Thank you Melissa!

    Julia2018-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Literally the best bnb I've ever stayed in. Would recommend and I hope to stay again when I come back.

    Michael2017-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Mel's beautiful studio was such a charm and a gem in Portland that made our experience in Portland a lot more memorable. Mel is a great host with great hospitality-- the check in and check out process was easy and smooth, and it was very easy to communicate with Mel. I fell in love with this studio when I first saw it through the pictures and I found it more charming as I stayed there. It's a kind of place where I'd come back again for (on top of Portland's amazing list of restaurants and breweries and hiking spots :)) Thanks Mel for having us!

    Heeju2018-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the studio! The space is so cozy, cute and tucked into a quiet southeast Portland neighborhood but still close to everything you would want to explore. We really enjoyed the patio area tucked behind the studio to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning. Melissa makes your stay so enjoyable and is extremely easy to communicate with. If we're ever in the area again, I would definitely stay here again!

The studio was exactly like the pictures shown and very comfortable! We didn't have any problems with noise. I would definitely stay here again!

  • Location, location, location! The NW 23rd Street neighborhood of Portland is where it is at if you love nice restaurants, bars, and shops in a totally walkable part of town. The studio apartment is spotless and just as described on the Airbnb website. Anastasia’s husband met us at the apartment at the scheduled time and provided us keys and parking pass to park out rental car in the neighborhood. The bed was comfy. The kitchen has a mini-fridge and toaster oven. The shower was clean and beautiful with glass tiles.

Cute little Tiny House! It used to be our boys' fort when they were young, now it is a comfortable little retreat for adventurers exploring Portland!
Cute little back yard "granny flat" cottage located near Mt Tabor park in very desirable neighborhood! The cottage is "Portland Style" construction with excellent insulation (R30), new windows, etc.. Great host, free internet, parking, furnished living space that is quite private.. The cottage contains an upstairs bedroom & sitting area. Note: There are steep stairs, so please take that into account ~ if you have joint pain, etc. this might not be the best choice of places to stay... The QUEEN size mattress is new and comfortable. Downstairs there is a small kitchen with stove, microwave and under the counter fridge. Also downstairs is a full bath with ceramic tile shower. Coffee maker and freshly ground coffee provided in the cottage as well as complimentary muffins. At times a made to order hot breakfast is available, message me to see if it will be available during your stay :-D. Guests are welcome to use washer/dryer in main house. Guests have use of the back yard with fruit trees and some berries when in season. Also the cottage is within walking distance of Division street shops, Pizzicato pizza, the 52nd & Foster street Food Carts and much more. The # 4 bus is just a block and a half away, which can take passengers west directly downtown. The TRI-MET app or website is easy to use & can help you get you anywhere from the airport, to downtown, to Powells Books, The Chinese Garden, and so on.
South Tabor Neighborhood is a quiet eclectic little neighborhood with many avid gardners, friendly neighbors, and gobs of dog lovers. We have community get-togethers, work parties, and holiday celebrations! If you are used to neighborhoods where no one knows each other or even speaks to each other this is definitely NOT the neighborhood for you :-D
  • Quiet, cozy and very clean cottage. The hot shower was amazing. Lisa is a very welcoming host. Her breakfast burritos were to die for. We definitely recommend her place!

    Giel & Elke (& Stef)2013-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa was a lovely host - very accommodating! Her made-to-order delivered breakfasts are a treat and she helped us out with our laundry. The cottage is really comfortable and beautiful. We didn't explore the neighbourhood much, only downtown Portland and the Oregon coast, but we really loved coming back here at the end of the day.

    Emma2014-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's cottage was so cute and perfect. Our only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer because she's so booked out, so be sure to grab it while you can! Great communication, easy checkin, 5 stars all around.

    Sam2015-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place is adorable. I love all the wood. I wasn't able to have the breakfast that came with the cottage. I was meeting friends for breakfast. The menu looked delicious. What a nice added bonus to the cottage. great neighborhood. It feels very safe.

    Christie2016-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was as described with a big upstairs bed, a bathroom, small kitchen in a quiet neighborhood. The best thing was the fabulous breakfast prepared by Lisa in the morning - I selected the Eggs Benedict. YUM! And the cottage is pet friendly - my dog was glad to spend the night sleeping on the floor beside the bed. I'd definitely come back. This is the perfect private spot for a single person or a couple.

  • It was a lovely experience and I wish we could have stayed longer!! Such a beautiful little cottage and Lisa was a great host.

    Glenn2015-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a delightfully cozy stay at the little tabor cottage! Lisa's culinary skills are out of this world; the vegan burrito bar was exquisite. We will definitely be returning. This cottage gives one a place to relax and get away from the norm for awhile. What a pleasure it was to stumble upon this treasure!

    Anna2014-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed our stay at Lisa's Cottage. We were there just one night & mainly to sleep & it was perfect for us! Communication with Lisa was quick and easy and everything was as expected from the site/description. And Lisa's breakfast to our front door was AMAZING and one of the reasons we chose to stay! She is quite the cook & having that warm, hearty breakfast before a long conference, was a perfect way to start the day! THANKS LISA! What a great host!

Nestled in the private backyard of our family home, a neighborhood hub. The round, rustic, romantic MudHut hides in a secret garden overlooking the St. Johns bridge and sparkling river, near Cathedral Park, Forest Park, downtown St. Johns, canoe and hiking trails... Firepit, permaculture gardens, loaner bikes, community life, view!
Our hut was handbuilt by family, friends, and community with great love and serves as a guesthouse, homeschool hut, sauna and sanctuary. Wood-heated and candle-lit, it's a tranquil, rustic sleeping space. I recommend staying two nights for an immersive experience in the relaxing atmosphere.
We're in St. Johns, Portland's northern-most neighborhood and a small town of its own with a strong community identity here. Many families here trace their roots back to James John, the pioneer founder of St. Johns who is memorialized all over the neighborhood. Downtown St. Johns is a few blocks away, with plenty of restaurants (Thai, vegan, soulfood, chinese, pub grub, pizza, deli, breakfast, coffee & gelato), an old movie theater and shopping (lots of vintage). Cathedral Park, three blocks away, is gorgeous and photogenic with access to the Willamette River and the awesome overhead presence of the gothic St. Johns Bridge that you can see from the hut. We're also close to a lot of natural areas for urban hiking and paddling. Forest Park, full of trails and old growth forest, is right across the bridge. Just north of here is Kelley Point Park, the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers; Smith and Bybee Lakes, a wetlands for birding and paddling; and Sauvie Island, with beaches, farms, nurseries, hiking, fishing, & birding. We're on the Pacific migratory fly-way, so lots of raptor action around here. Bald eagles, peregrine falcons and hawks swoop by regularly.
  • What an amazing experience! We're currently working on a mockumentary about a sustainable living commune. Staying in the cob hut made it feel like we were a part of our own film. The hut and surrounding property was poetic and cozy, and it made us feel so connected to the natural side of living. We absolutely LOVED the concept of no electricity and only using candles for our evening lighting (beyond romantic, IMO). The gardens were a joy, with fruit dripping off the trees. Our host, Ivy, far exceeded our expectations, as she was warm and courteous as she showed us around the property. The communication before our arrival was perfect as well. She served us delicious tea in the morning. Don’t let the bathroom fool you (based on what others wrote). Yes, it does "look" dark and creepy going down and below their house. But looks are deceiving! The shower head, water pressure, and shower size easily made it our best showering experience of our 10 day road trip (beside a luxury bath in Tahoe). Our only regret was not staying longer. Ivy and her kids made us feel quite welcome, and this is certainly a place I plan on visiting again. Very unique!

    Greg2014-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • So whimsical! Ivy was great! Very helpful and kind. The mudhut was very charming and the garden smelled so good to walk through! We will back very soon! This kind of experience is hard to find, much like a fairytale!

    Rhiley2015-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Such a gnarly experience!!

    Nate2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I greatly enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Mud Hut. The simple living gave us a glimpse into what we hope to be our future lifestyle. The Mud Hut itself is beautifully crafted and immediately felt like home. The sleep was deeply refreshing. The grounds surrounding the Hut contained a multitude of plant species and animals. Beautifully smelling flowers and herbs along with delicious raspberries sat right outside the Hut's door. Endlessly entertaining chickens were a few steps away and to top it off, the most loving cat, Potato, romes the ground, always ready for a good scratch. Sitting by the campfire, looking out onto the electrified St. Johns Bridge was the capstone to a wonderful stay.

    Miles2015-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • It was everything we could have hoped for. The welcome was literally warm - Ivy had the fire going when we arrived in the cold rain. The hot tub boasts a stellar view, and all things were lovely.

    James2015-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I needed a last minute place to stay in Portland for the night and when we saw the mudhut, we thought it would be an awesome experience. It sure was! Ivy was a great host. We had everything we needed. The trip to the bathroom at night was the only downside of the stay, but all in all we are very pleased with our experience.

    Libby2014-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • ~theMudHut~ was awesome........I am glad I chose to rest here...first of all it is a mud hut....add a small wood stove and the candles.. and it was cozier than any hotel that I have stayed at... but that's me.... The host are great too..very welcoming...down to earth folks... .....I love this place and would go back in the future.

    benjamin2015-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Mudhut was amazing! My fiance and I did a big road trip of 22 states, and this was easily one of our favourites. We arrived late, only stayed one night and had to leave early; we wish we had booked for much longer!

This space will make you feel cozy and right at home! A bright and well appointed tiny house located in Northeast Portland. Just steps from some of the best restaurants in all of Portland. The Alberta Arts district is just a few blocks away with cafes, pubs and local shopping. There are unique neighborhood amenities, such as the soaking pool and movie theater at the Kennedy School. For more photos and neighborhood info, visit: @portlandtinyhouse on Instagram.
We put a lot of love into Portland Tiny House. The space includes warm wood flooring, ceramic tiling, modern decor and special vintage touches. The house has a very comfortable Tuft and Needle queen sized bed, bathroom, kitchenette equipped for cooking light meals and cozy counter seating for two. Coffee, tea, fresh eggs and Portland travel guides provided. Need anything else?...just let us know! (2 guests with a small child may sometimes be accommodated)
Guests are a block away from Portland's most popular and notable restaurants: DOC, Beast, Autentica, Dame, Expatriate, Wilder and Yakuza Lounge. The house is within walking distance to the local New Seasons Market and the Alberta Arts District with shops/restaurants/art galleries and the hugely popular Last Thursday monthly arts festival. You certainly won't want to miss all of the wonderful shops and restaurants up on Alberta Street. There are many popular restaurants that often have a line to get in (yes...they are THAT good!) like Pine State Biscuits, Salt and Straw Ice Cream, The Grilled Cheese Grill and the Bollywood Theater. Lots of vegan dining as well: Vita Cafe, Back to Eden Bakery and the Bye and Bye Pub. So many wonderful options, we usually have a hard time deciding what to pick! Just around the corner: Walk a block up to enjoy hand-crafted morning coffee at Extracto or breakfast at Cup & Saucer. Drop in to take a yoga class at The People's Yoga studio. Hunt for fun vintage finds at Red Fox Vintage. Or you can explore the McMenamins Kennedy School: a historic elementary school re-purposed as a hotel (including a movie theater, soaking pool ($5 for a relaxing soak), restaurants and pubs). There are two parks within walking distance from the tiny house, Alberta Park and Fernhill Park. Peninsula Park is also a quick jaunt from the tiny house and it boasts a beautiful, seasonal rose garden that is often less crowded than the well known International Rose Test Garden in the West hills.
  • I had an excellent time staying at the Portland Tiny House. Everything was as described and there was even a card welcoming me upon arrival.

    Alexis2016-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Simply adorable tiny house! Loved how clean it was, how stylishly yet practically it was furnished, and how close it was to great restaurants.

    Cynthia2017-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Duston & Genevieve were amazing hosts and the tiny house is absolutely the best! Such kind people and were adamant on making sure we were comfortable in our stay. They even brought in the air conditioner for us for our 85 degree day! And fresh eggs from the hens were waiting for us on our first night. We had a great time getting to know them for our short stay as well. The tiny house itself is very clean and well designed. Duston & Genevieve clearly have great taste! Truly the best. The neighborhood itself is really amazing as well. Walking distance to the Kennedy School, where we grabbed a beer and sat in the soaking pool! Also very close to lots of shops and our new favorite coffee shop, Barista! Thanks so much for a great stay, Duston & Genevieve. We will definitely return!

    Ak2016-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great choice. The tiny house is beautiful and private. Had absolutely no issues. Very clean and you can tell Genevieve and Dustin take pride in ownership. Great neighborhood, very safe. In walking distance of several shops and local eateries. This was our first time using Airbnb and our experience couldn't have been better.

    Sarah2016-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Duston & Genevieve’s Tiny House is so cute and stunning. You will feel so at home here. It is a very safe area, and nicely situated out of town so you can relax, but only takes 10-15 to get into downtown. We appreciated everything that Duston and Genevieve did and they are amazing hosts! I would recommend them to anyone!!

    Erin2017-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house was beautiful! Everything was better than described. We enjoyed walking to local restaurants and coffee shops. And, most of all, we enjoyed the chickens!

    Brandy2016-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely LOVED our stay at the tiny house. Everything was perfect and Genevieve was so nice. We would definitely come back!

    Ilse2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Dustin and Genevieve were great hosts. Everything in the tiny house was perfect. They have easy instructions and left recommendations for places to visit and try. They were extremely helpful and reaponsive if we had any questions and even left some killer IPA welcome beers for us upon our arrival. The location was perfect we actually stumbled across some gems walking distance from their place. The neighborhood was very nice and we were even welcomed by the neighbors!

  • Roland is an absolute gentleman who goes out of his way to making sure that you're comfortable and situated with the loft during your stay! The neighborhood is very safe and I highly recommend anyone to stay at his loft if you're ever visiting Portland. The loft has a nice cozy feel and there's even a jacuzzi that you can use after a long traveling day's worth of adventure! I cannot recommend Roland's loft enough!

    Kevin2018-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Roland was a great host! Very kind and knowledgeable. The loft was great

    Jackie2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Roland's house is situated in a beautiful old neighbor with really nice old homes that have wonderful character. I did not get to meet my host but he was very gracious. He notified me ahead of time that he would not be there upon my arrival. He left his house open for me, offered me the use of his swimming pool, his kitchen and shower on the main floor. The loft area is a very spacious area with a private bathroom. There is a small dining area in the loft with a mini-fridge and microwave. The bathroom has a large Jacuzzi tub. There is a sliding door off to one side that leads to a small rooftop deck. There is a nice size closet to store you stuff in. His house is just a few blocks from Division Street which is bustling with all kind of little shops, eateries and pubs. There is a bus stop just a few blocks from his house that I took to work each day. It accommodated my situation very well. I would definitely stay here again.

    Davina2015-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Roland's place is a very comfortable, quiet and convenient location in a lovely SE Portland neighborhood.

  • Very nice accommodation in good neighborhood. The owner has done a great job making a comfortable room for the visitor.

    Steve2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Roland's home is charming and comfortable. The loft space is full of light and fresh air from skylights and a sliding door onto a small balcony. The bed is comfy and the bathroom spotless. I enjoyed his lovely porch and front yard in idle moments. Roland himself is very accommodating, enjoyable to talk to, and eager to provide a pleasant stay.

    Pierre2015-07-28T00:00:00Z

We arrived to Portland late at night and we were given clear and detailed instructions as to how to get inside the house. We had such a nice time exploring Portland and staying at Ed and Sari's home. If we ever find ourselves in Portland, we will reach out to Ed and Sari first! Thank you for letting us stay at your beautiful home! :)

We enjoyed being able to watch Netflix and relax on the couch after a long day of exploring. The location of this place is amazing, there were a lot of great restaurants in walking distance. • I had a fantastic stay at Chuck and Annika's apartment. Some of the highlights included the following: 1. modern, beautiful, clean space—I felt at home whenever I was in the apartment, and I didn't want to leave! 2. close proximity to Division/Clinton—I was able to walk to several fantastic restaurants from Chuck and Annika's (they provide a binder with some great suggestions) 3. comfortable bed—I slept really well during my stay! 4. mini-kitchen—the refrigerator and microwave are nice if you prefer to stay in the apartment for a meal. 5. chocolate chip cookies—the perfect touch to start out my stay! Overall, this is a fantastic listing. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Would highly recommend for one or two people looking to explore Portland. The space is nicely laid out, clean, and very functional. Charming neighborhood with a number of yummy places to eat on SE Division St. (and Trinity on Cesar Chavez). All within walking distance. Parking was hassle free as well. Trips to the Pearl District, the sky tram. Washington Park, St. Johns Bridge, the Moda Center were all manageable, even when we hit rush hour traffic.

    Nanilee2018-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Chuck and Annika have such a lovely and not-to-miss unit! Within walking distance to breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and coffee places on Division. Highly recommended stay outside of the busy Portland area. We were greeted with chocolate chip cookies and the lovely scent of lilacs blooming in their yard. I'll definitely try to stay here again on my next trip to Portland!

    Tiffany2015-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • The chocolate chip cookies when we first arrived were great! Nice neighborhood, easy to find location. Key pick up/drop off was very easy. We did not have a chance to meet Annika or Chuck but we definitely enjoyed their apartment. Cute apartment, well furnished. There is a small oscillating fan, but the only thing I would add is a ceiling fan to hep the air circulate a bit. Overall great place to stay!

    Julie2015-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice, clean place. Lots of convenient touches including a little kitchen-y area with a mini-fridge and microwave as well as towels / shampoo / soap / hairdryer in the bathroom. Unfortunately we were in town for a wedding and didn't get to explore the neighborhood too much but we did walk to Pok Pok.

Brand spanking new, beautiful, modern addition built on our ranch house.
Our 425 square foot addition is brand new (finished 2015) - immaculately designed, gorgeous and a perfect place to stay during your time in Portland. It has a pellet stove for delightful ambiance (and heating), it's own entrance, a blow-up air mattress (for a third guest) and a patio. Stay in a place completely Portland, powered by solar panels, built environmentally friendly, sitting on a major bike street and a couple blocks from the MAX light rail.
Our house is within 2 miles of the fantastic north and north east neighborhoods of Williams, Mississippi and Alberta. There are dozens of restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance and I leave a list of our local favorites in the house.
  • Great place! Very private and close to a lot of restaurants and coffee shops! Would definitely stay again.

It stays nice and cool in the warmer months with a ceiling fan, and the convection heater keeps it warm in the winter. Beautiful photography, by a local artist, graces the walls.
  • This was our first time in Portland and it was everything I could've hoped for. Joelle was very hospitable, leaving a fresh batch of raspberry bars for us upon arrival. The studio was amazing! Walking distance to the shops and restaurants on Hawthorne, and an easy bike ride to just about everywhere else. Highly recommend!

    Jarrett2014-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived at Joelle and James' house during the day and found a lovely welcome note with chocolates waiting for us. The garden and the studio were so beautiful that we took pictures of the awesome place we were going to be staying! They have prepared a binder pointing out a great variety of activities in the neighborhood and in Portland that was super helpful. The bed and linens were so comfy and the bathrobes were luxurious. We were in Portland for the marathon and the enormous bathtub with Epsom salts was an amazing way to recover after running 26.2 miles. It is truly in an ideal location for a visit to Portland, right in between Hawthorne and Division with tons of restaurants, shopping, and access to public transportation.

    Jessica2015-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • I was welcomed immediately with an open heart and home. I felt like I had known Joelle and James for years just dropping in for a few days. This was my first experience with airbnb and all I can say is the standard has been set. Thank you both for the advice. You are good people. I hope to see you again.

    Alison2014-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Patiently awaiting our arrival, Joelle welcomed us with a speedy tour of their home and our garden studio so that we could begin exploring Portland's Hawthorne District in short order. Food was the priority that first evening and Joelle's recommendations were 'spot on'!! As an avid gardener, to be able to vacation in someone's garden sanctuary . . . words can't adequately describe this delightful garden setting! An oasis of sorts and just completely satisfactory in all manner of things. The neighborhood is quite a treat with attractive homes and gardens -- walking distance to fabulous food and fun shops.

    JoAnne2014-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at James' and Joelle's garden studio! The space was beautiful, the hosts were full of helpful Portland tips, and the location can't be beat. The neighborhood is full of delicious restaurants and food trucks, as well as unique shops, bars, coffee shops, and the Bagdad Theatre. The studio is quiet and cozy, and we woke up to fresh raspberry bars each morning. We highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting wonderful Portland!

    Joshua2016-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Joelle and James were so inviting and hospitable. I had a great time staying in their little Garden Studio, relaxing and taking in the surroundings. They made me feel comfortable and were helpful in telling me all about the sites to see in the area. I would go back in a heartbeat! And maybe I will!

    Colleen2014-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really great time staying at the garden studio. It is cozy, warm, charming and I highly recommend it to couples staying in Portland. Joelle and James were really friendly, welcoming and offered us delicious cakes. We will definitely come back! Thanks you J&J for everything. Beti and I wish you all the best!

    Dino2014-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I booked this trip months ago and had really high hopes for the accommodation and Portland - we weren’t disappointed! From the moment we arrived, Joelle and James made us feel welcome. The studio is so cosy and having access to the house gave us the flexibility and facilities we needed. We loved the garden setting as we got to watch lots of birds such as hummingbirds while we sat eating our breakfast! Our hosts included some lovely personal touches and treats such as breakfast bagels, corn bread, and gingerbread waffles. The location is excellent for Hawthorne and Belmont, and SE Stark is within easy walking distance. There’s a good bus route on Hawthorne too so a couple of days when we were too tired we used the buses for the History museum and a trip to Off the Griddle for brunch. Also had a great walk up to Mount Tabor Park from the studio. Would definitely recommend a stay here!

Seen on the TV show "Tiny House Nation", CNN, Food & Wine Magazine, and the NY Post, the 350 sq ft Rustic Modern Tiny House was designed and built by us, your friendly AirBNB hosts. Guests call it "completely charming" and "the perfect urban getaway". Welcome! M+J
For years we've been daydreaming about building a little house one day. Then we finally made it happen - using our own two hands (DIY! The Portland way!) and with the help of some great friends. We had a vision in mind, but a lot of the details came together as we built, based on what materials we had available to us. Downstairs is the kitchen, living room with convertible couch, and bathroom with tiny clawfoot tub. Access the upstairs via STAIRS (not a ladder), where you'll find our loft bedroom with comfortable queen sized bed. Sustainable design is important to us, and the house is constructed and furnished from an eclectic array of reclaimed materials - squirreled away over the years, and now creatively reused and repurposed. See photo captions for a detailed walkthrough of the house. A PARTIAL SNAPSHOT • The trim and shelves are reclaimed from an old shed that used to be on the property. • Teak hardwood flooring, cedar shake siding - salvaged from high-end construction jobs. • The wood-clad windows salvaged from a horse farm in the Oregon countryside. • The kitchenette stove/refrigerator sourced from the Hood River History Museum. Instagram: @rusticmoderntiny
We love our walk/bike friendly N. Williams Ave neighborhood - it's been getting a lot of media attention as one of Portland's hottest neighborhoods. You are one block from the main corridor, bustling with award-winning restaurants, bars, coffee shops, wine bars, bakeries, yoga studios, and indie boutiques - it seems there's something new every week. Sunset Magazine loves its “low-key urban vibe", past guests call our neighborhood "awesome", "amazing" and "full of things to do". Our street has even made an appearance or two on the TV show Portlandia.
  • Amazing location! A short walk to great Portland neighborhoods. The space is creative and cozy. Jenny and Michael were good hosts, ultra quick to answer any questions.

    Nikk2013-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • I LOVED The Tiny House and want to make my own!! The place was great. A perfect space for two, but I could also see it working for four people if you don't mind close quarters. Beautiful personal touches on everything. The neighborhood is great - within walking distance to food and drink, and a 15 minute walk to Mississippi street for a little shopping. We rented bikes and had no problem covering most of the city. The only problem I could see - for older folks, less mobile folks - getting up and down from the loft and the bathroom is a little tight.

    Caroline2013-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our time at the Tiny House for the first half of our honeymoon. It was located in an amazing neighborhood. My husband and I both agreed we could have stayed in the neighborhood the entire 4 days because there was so much to do! Michael let us borrow his bikes and we had a great time exploring. The house was clean and cozy and the bed was so comfortable!

    Brittany2014-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • My fiancé and I had such a great time staying in this awesome little spot! It was private, tidy and unique. Michael and Jenna were wonderful hosts, very quick to respond and made us feel right at home.

    Ryan2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Rustic Modern Tiny house was exactly what the pictures portray. It was cozy, well thought out spatially, and in a great little neighborhood. It was easy to walk and drive to get to yummy food and drinks.

    Jacquelyn2015-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed in the Tiny House for a month and we absolutely loved our stay! We travel permanently and usually stay in hostels and guesthouses so while it seemed super-spacious for us, it may not for everybody. The kitchen was perfect for making breakfasts although we didn't try to cook much beyond that -- the house is really close to some amazing restaurants and bars. We ate SO WELL. Buses run regularly to downtown from fairly close by but we actually spent most of our time exploring our own neighbourhood. We didn't run out of places to go to and ended up preferring it to downtown! Michael and Jenny are lovely to deal with and responsive to any questions/problems. All in all, we loved our stay, were incredibly sad to leave and are already talking about returning at some point in the future!

    Lauren2013-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Jenny and Michael are the perfect hosts! They were always answering back immediately and give you really nice recommendations where to go in their neighborhood! The Tiny Beauty was perfect for two and it had everything you wished for. We would always stay there again!

    Nina2014-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Jenna made me feel super welcome from the beginning. They were really responsive and before they had to finish a maintenance, they made sure to check with us about when we would be coming in so that it didn't disturb our stay. We really appreciated that. The bed is ridiculously comfortable too which helped us enjoy Portland even more! This place is about a 20-30 minute bus ride away from the city center which was what we wanted. Would definitely stay here ourselves again and recommend this place to others in the future!

The main corridor -Division Street- has been experiencing moderate retail and service re-development which has energized the neighborhood with a wide range of restaurants and food-cart vendors as well as natural food markets and coops, and boutiques. Overall livability is excellent as public transport and bike lanes are accessible and convenient. In summary, there is: public transportation, retail, restaurants, markets, bakeries, parks, rose gardens, nightlife, theaters, and live entertainment within walking distance and/or a few minutes ride.
  • What an amazing spot. We didn't have a chance to meet our hosts but felt very welcomed. Having a parking spot was a definite perk as our rig while traveling on business is somewhat unwieldy to park on neighborhood streets. The cottage was adorable, comfortable, and the care that Kurt and Nathalie took to make sure any need we may have had was so appreciated. The house manual was very useful. I loved the part about Myrna and how she loves to tell her life story, and it helped us enjoy the space more comfortably and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee in the morning. I also appreciated the quality of linens, consumables, and other items available around the home - not to mention the assorted books and trail guides available. The only part I was sad about was not needing to stay in Portland a week so we could have explored some of the trails and come back to this spot every day. :) Just perfect.

    Monica2015-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Kurt and Nathalie's place was a perfect spot. The studio was cozy and well stocked. We really enjoyed staying there. We slept well in the comfortable bed and enjoyed spending some quiet time there before exploring. There is so much to do within walking distance which is a definite bonus. They were great to work with and very considerate hosts. The bagels and the other breakfast goodies were a thoughtful touch. We'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great Portland experience.

    Erika2016-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time staying at Kurt & Nathalie's place. That should speak for itself. The location is great, it's super close to so many restaurants and boutiques while still managing to be quiet and relaxing. The neighborhood is very nice with lots of nicely kept craftsman style homes. It's more of a locals perspective of Portland versus staying in a hotel downtown. As far as Kurt and Nathalie go, they are such great people. They are fun to chat with and super friendly. They will offer recommendations when needed and do a great job of supplying all the necessities and more for your stay. The fridge and pantry were full of options and the toiletries were fully stocked. The place was also very clean. We will definitely be back to enjoy the experience of Portland from Kurt and Nathalie's place again!

    Matthew2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • This studio was actually the first AirBnb I saved for our 10 day trip. We loved the photos so much that we felt staying here on the day of our 13th wedding anniversary was a must even just for one day. In reality, it was much more than we could have hoped for...we would live in the studio permanently if we could. Even though we did not get a chance to meet Kurt and Nathalie, all of our questions were answered with the information that was left for us and the privacy of having your own stand alone space was unique especially for the area. The PDX area has several restaurants within walking distance and is a fun neighborhood to explore. We will definitely be looking to book this place when we visit Portland again.

    Jesse2016-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place to stay in Portland. We had plenty of room and really plenty of everything. Kurt and Nathalie were uncommonly generous in how they have built, decorated and supplied their studio apartment.

    Philip2017-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • This space is so charming, cute, clean, and polished! Perfect one or two people. The host went above and beyond to accommodate us - food in the fridge, chocolate on the pillows, and toiletries available in the bathroom. Lots of great natural light. As others have said this place is very very very cozy! We would definitely stay here again next time!

    Monica2015-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Kurt and Nathalie's studio was outstanding. It is clean, spacious, bright, well-equipped, and they provided all the basics and then some. It was among the nicest places I've stayed.

    Evan2017-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely separate studio with great facilities and welcoming hosts. Close to some great eateries and easily accessible public transport. Highly recommended.

Enjoy Portland in our beautiful, modern guest house. You will be located in a quiet neighborhood nestled between the heart of downtown St Johns and the University of Portland.
Hello! We have a 600 sq. ft, bright, modern guest house tucked away behind our main house. During your stay you will have access to a fully stocked kitchen including: coffee and 3 ways to brew it, microwave, range, refrigerator, toaster, dishware, pots & pans, and baking goods. The space is loaded with windows which lets in a lot of natural light. The lofted area has a queen size bed, large closet, desk area and full bathroom. The space is ideal for 2 people, but it could certainly work for 3. There's a twin blow-up mattress or the couch for the third person. The house is filled with reclaimed wood, handcrafted light fixtures and artistic touches - make sure to check out all of the pictures!
We are located in the University Park neighborhood of Portland - about 1 mile away of the downtown St Johns neighborhood and 1 mile away from the the University of Portland The University Park neighborhood is within walking distance, or a short drive, to parks - including Cathedral Park - bars, food carts, coffee shops, restaurants, a fitness center (Westcoast Fitness) a farmers market (only runs during the summer months), antique/thrift stores, and various other shops. Forest Park, Portland's largest park that's filled with hiking and biking trails, is located 1.5 miles away, directly across the St. Johns Bridge. Please note: Our house is not located within walking distance of downtown Portland!
  • Heidi and Marenda's sunny loft doubled as an oasis during our 4 night stay in Portland. After a weekend with record-high temperatures and days full of our friend's wedding events, coming "home" to this beautiful loft was just what we needed. We were thankful for the easy-to-set-up A/C available and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable place to stay in Portland. The coffee beans, granola and yogurt were a great compliment to our stay as well! We'll definitely stay again on our next trip to the PNW.

    Ali2016-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi and Marenda's loft was everything that you see in the pictures: clean, modern, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The location was in a quiet neighborhood that was a quick 15-25 minute drive from most places we went. Heidi and Marenda were very responsive, and made great recommendations for our day trip through the Columbia River Gorge. I highly recommend this place for your trip to Portland!

    Emily2015-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi & Marenda’s loft is a perfect place for 2 to stay in Portland. Their place was beyond our expectations once we got there; it was both modern & functional. They were quick and precise with responses to all our queries. They were very accommodating of our late flight into Portland. They have 2 adorable dogs that are really friendly and made our stay more enjoyable. We had a rental to drive in and around the city, which we would recommend. Both Heidi & Marenda were very friendly, helpful and great hosts. We would highly recommend their listing.

    Nikhil2015-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Where do I start? I could write for days. Easy to find, private, yet safe and close to hosts. My husband and I picked Heidi & Marenda's firstly because of its location. Our son was on a student exchange to University of Portland, which was walking distance away. And we did walk it. It was also really close to a great car rental place, Enterprise (we returned our car and walked back to air BnB), and close enough to walk to St Johns, a quaint area of North Portland, that had great food, old fashioned picture theatres, a real friendly community feel. Secondly, I loved the pictures. Lots of the air bnbs were either a room in a house, or a basement. I loved that this was a free standing, light, airy space. The loft bedroom meant we always felt snug and warm at night. Lastly, the girls were really quick to respond to any communication from us. It made me feel that I knew them even before we arrived. Check in was easy and so was check out. I liked that they were there, but we never felt we were intruding, or that they were looking over us. Nice touches of toiletries, granola, yoghurt, milk, herbs and spices, everything you could want. We didn't cook but all the appliances and kit were there. The washing machine and dryer were exceptionally efficient and easy to use. We might sound over the top, but I can't think of how it could be improved. The bed was comfy, nice cuddly throw rugs to use on lounge, ensuite was small but perfectly fitted out. I'd go back again tomorrow. John and Marise Abbott

    Marise2018-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This spot could not have been more perfect! The loft is absolutely gorgeous, so clean, and very comfortable. Heidi and Marenda were welcoming and responsive and have lovely dogs! They were also sweet enough to leave us some yogurts and all the fixings for coffee. I enjoyed having coffee on the little deck in the morning and relaxing in this space. It is located in a quiet neighborhood, but there is easy public transportation to other parts of the city and a few great coffee shops/bars nearby.

    Abigail2015-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! The hosts are welcoming, their property is beautiful, and the loft was cozy and super cool! It was great to have a home as a couple traveling in a new city, so we felt comfortable hanging out to figure out our destinations for the day, then being able to completely relax after a long day of exploring! If we'd stayed longer we definitely would have cooked some meals with the provided tools and fully functional kitchen. Although bikes were available, we ended up taking public transportation because it was so easy to get around! I thankfully left my car parked for our stay. I'd highly recommend this spot to anyone who wants to see the neighborhoods of Portland, but if you need to be close to downtown there are better locations.

    Sasha2015-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • The neighborhood is adorable. We were staying in town for the Portland Marathon and the location was perfect. We drove to downtown for dinner every night without any issues. There is a market just down the street if you need groceries. The loft was so peacefully decorated, we walked in and were immediately in love. We will definitely be back again! We loved our weekend in Portland!

    Lora2016-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing home away from home. If we could transport it back to Hawaii with us we would. This is a treasure. Marenda and Heidi have built a beautiful home and generously allow others to share it.

NEW MURPHY BED with comfy mattress! Great little tiny house in a fantastic neighborhood. It is cozy and modern, with a great layout. It's a tiny, stand alone house with a private bathroom. Short Term Rental Permit Numb (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) -HO
Brand new, tiny-home style house. 200 sq ft. Covered porch. Full bath with standing tile shower. Full-size wall bed "Murphy bed" installed December 2015. Bamboo floors & reclaimed wood stairs. No kitchen, but has a microwave for heating up leftovers, water, or popcorn. Wifi. This is one block off Mississippi Ave, with many bars, restaurants, and one of the best coffee shops (Fresh Pot) in Portland. A block away from Amnesia Brewing and Grand Central bakery. 10 minute walk from the Yellow Line MAX (Overlook station.) Mississippi Studios is right down the street- a fantastic venue for local and traveling bands.
  • Rick was very kind in letting me arrive a couple of hours early -- only because the house wasn't booked. Very grateful for that. The location is funky in a good way. It's near the the trending Mississippi area and walkable to some good eats and brews. The garden between the green and pink house is amazing. Street parking was no problem and I felt safe. The space is limited and probably best for one. The shower is nice and strong, there's a fridge and microwave too. Don't expect any pampering or other amenities though -- it's pretty straight forward. In addition, if you plan on traveling there when it's warm, make sure to ask that the AC unit be installed and or have the window screen installed for better cross ventilation.

    Noah2016-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjouyed our stay at Rick's little green house. The place was very cute and extremely clean. We were quite comfortable the entire time, and the fact that the heaters kicked in quickly when the temperatures dropped outside was appreciated. The climb up the strairs to the bedroom loft area wasn't that difficult (though the ceiling is quite low when you get up there!) and the bed was very cozy. We couldn't ask for a better location, as the house is situated in close proximity to both the Mississippi and Alberta districts (though the latter is a little further away). Overall, we loved the uniqueness of this accomodation option and would definitely recommend staying here if it suits your needs!

    Karen2013-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We met Rick the owner and he was really nice. The house is obviously small but didn't feel cramped at all. We even had plenty of space to store 2 bikes under the stairs during the night. The location is ideal for dinner, dessert, and shopping. We loved it and will be back!

    Kyle2014-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great! Good location. Perfect amount of space

    MADISON2015-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Rick's tiny houses are perfect! Great communication as well.

    david2014-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • This space (The Little Green House) matched our needs, which was a quick one-night stay, mostly just to sleep, for our party of two. We slept very comfortably on the bed. It's one room, which I didn't quite understand from the pictures, and the bed is a pull-down from a standing cabinet, into the room. Unlike some AirB&Bs we've stayed at, there were no "extra touches" to personalize the stay or welcome guests - it's very minimal. However it's also a great price for a very awesome location and has all the essentials.

    Anne2016-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Location, location, location. This is a tiny, adequate place to rest your head at night - bed is comfy, the apartment is minimally appointed but functional (with a few minor quirks), if all you're looking for is a convenient spot near the great Mississippi Street then Rick's place works. It's not a 5 star experience but for the price I'm satisfied, and Rick and Kristin were communicative and available when needed.

    Shauna2016-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • I LOVE the location of this quaint little place. Very easy to get food, drinks, or more plus it's the perfect size for just a couples getaway. My only wish was that the loft was still available. Still, this place is worth it for location alone. Will definitely stay again.

  • Cleanly with personal welcoming touches throughout. A great place to stay in if you are visiting Portland for the first time as it is within walking distance of many shops and restaurants.

  • Our stay at Melissa's place was great! Beautiful and clean space. We were very close to everything we wanted to do, and she provided great Portland information books and self-made binders of tips of where to eat!

    Jessica2018-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • The room was as advertised. Very cozy, nicely decorated, very comfortable. Everything in the unit was of high quality. There was a problem with the toilet and despite being out of town themselves, Melissa and her husband responded immediately and made arrangements to get it working again. And while it wasn’t 100% repaired, it was functional for the rest of my stay. They generously gave a refund for one night because of the inconvenience it caused me. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

    Dan2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Melissa's was fantastic! The basement space was beautiful and had everything we needed for a perfect trip to Portland. The location is very convenient and we found no shortage of things to do. Would love to come back someday! The only slight bother was that the heater blows right in your face on one side of the bed, but the room heats up quickly so you hardly need it!

    Gerrit2018-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa and her apt was great! She was very hospitable as well as attentive and helpful

  • Melissa’s place was so dreamy—exactly as pictured, super clean, and works well for a quick stay. We didn’t use the (brand new, huge) kitchen because we were only there for one night, but if making food at your Airbnb is a priority, this is a great fit. Just note that if you are staying for more than a few nights, there is no dresser for unpacking your clothes. Melissa was super helpful and let me drop off my suitcase before check-in, and provided tons of tips/directions/suggestions so we could enjoy Portland to the fullest!

Our studio guest house comfortably sleeps two and features a mini kitchen and private bath. Walk through the garden to your private entrance. Curl up by the fire and enjoy one of the art books from our library. Walk to nearby Alberta Arts District.
With two small children at home, we have found little time to paint in the second floor of the studio building at the rear of our property. Come and enjoy this lovely space! It features high ceilings, ample light, a wood stove (with back-up electric heat), views of the surrounding gardens, a large table and a drafting table to spread out and work on, and an art book library. The kitchenette is equipped with a sink, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and electric kettle. It does not have a cook top or oven or toaster. We provide coffee and tea. The bathroom features a shower stall and an eco-toilet that collects water from hand washing to use on the next flush. With summer temperatures rising, we recently added an AC window unit for our guests comfort. We offer a full bed with a seven inch Ikea spring mattress and a two inch memory-foam topper. Our guests report that the room is surprisingly quiet at night. Please note we do not have a TV; however, our wifi is fast enough to watch movies or shows on your personal device.
I love this place. This is a residential neighborhood with a wide cross section of racial and economic diversity, a lot of the old 'hood funkiness still intact, plus newer hipster creativity and some higher-end business activity. Expect to see a mix of dilapidated buildings and newer or rejuvenated construction. We feel safe at night, however I do advise women to be wary about walking alone at night, particularly if you don't have much street smarts. We are within easy walking distance of Alberta Street Co-op, coffee shops, restaurants, bars and other businesses. The post office, laundromat, Safeway and Walgreens are very close by as well.
  • Great host, awesome studio makes me feel at home. Quiet neighborhood and you get your privacy. Would definitely stay there again.

  • What a delightful gem of a guesthouse! Pleasant, hands off (but readily available) hosts, a gorgeously maintained and decorated space, complete with a wood burning stove and comfy bed. Didn't hear a peep out of the dogs, and when I did get to meet them they were absolutely precious. Neighborhood was cute, unpretentious, and close to everything; there was even a live jazz jam session going on a few houses away when we arrived, which we found very welcoming. Thank you for your excellent hospitality! We hope to return again.

  • Comfy and beautiful spot! So easy to find and working with Nell for the reservation details and during the stay was a breeze. It was just two nights, but can imagine a longer stay being just as great! The wood stove was lovely and the space was finished with attentive wood, art and design details that were fun to find and admire. We did not meet our hosts, but we were in contact, and, as the space is basic and easy to use, didn't need to bug with anything. We appreciated the quiet neighborhood, the coffee and close parking. Creative and cozy!

    Jana2015-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Needed to getaway for a night to rest and write, found Nell's lovely artist space and it was definitely a good retreat for me. The aesthetics really reminded me of my own place in NY. The neighbourhood was safe and friendly with some good eateries. Nell had a basket of local guides and maps for the taking or you could simply see what she's selected for her best local picks. Quiet and lots of window to enjoy the Portland rain. All the little things that are usually overlooked is what I appreciated most about this Artist Garden Retreat ;) This is one of my favorite places to stay and would love to return for another whenever I'm back around PDX.

    Joey2015-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first trip to Portland, and I must say that staying at Nell's place definitely enhanced our trip as we had such a nice and cozy studio to come back to at the end of each day! Everything was easy, parking is right out front, lock is a combo lock, amenities such as towels, soap, shampoo, etc. are all available, if you're cold there's a heater (we did not use it), and if you're hot there's the A/C and a ceiling fan. There just isn't enough words to describe how wonderful this studio is. We will definitely return here if we come back to Portland. Nell and Jeremy were also great hosts! My girlfriend and I like to spend all day exploring so we didn't get to spend much time with Nell, but she was very courteous and was very helpful to whatever questions we had about the city and made it easy to contact her at any point in time. Great stay!

    Virgil2015-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had our best airbnb experience so far at Nell and Jeremy's studio. The place was super clean and the bed was super comfortable! The place is private with a great atmosphere. Easy communication with Nell. Alberta street is great for foods and shopping. We definately recommend this place and wish that we would gave stayed longer.

    Staffan2015-07-23T00:00:00Z

  • Place was amazing for our short stay in Portland! Had a few guests in town as we're from Eugene and their first stay at both an Airbnb and Oregon was amazing and they loved it! Paul was also so nice although we did not interact with him much. The entire experience was so convenient!

  • Had a lovely stay at this place in Portland, everything was clean and new! Paul was a great and thoughtful host who gave us useful recommendations and made us feel at home. Would stay again!

    Nikolai2015-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • My adult daughter and I spent one night at the Funky Pad Suite. The Funky Pad is accessed through Paul's living area, through a door at the end of the living room and up a little stairway. Entering the Funky Pad is entering a spotlessly clean, sleek, modern, comfortable oasis. It is exactly as shown in the airbnb photos and description. This is a great accommodation for travelers who like a some private space to spread out or hang out, and some separation of sleeping areas. The beds are super comfortable. Cute sleeping alcove for the second bed. Nice little kitchenette area. Funky Pad is located on a very busy street, and car and truck noise kept me up at night in spite of wearing earplugs. No stars deducted for this - I think it's just overly-sound-sensitive me. I often wear earplugs even at home in the quiet country. My daughter slept in the alcove, which directly overlooks the street, and didn't notice the noise at all; she had a great night's sleep. Didn't have the opportunity to explore the neighborhood, but there is a large park, which looked very nice, right across the street. Paul has created a very sweet, comfortable and spacious accommodation for his guests.

    Karen2014-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Paul and Carolyn's Funky Pad Suite was comfortable, so cute and filled with nice details like coffee and tea for the morning with milk and soy milk in the little fridge. Even though we didn't use these, they had a little pantry with healthy snacks, and a nice selection of local wines available to purchase. There were good reference books and magazines on Portland and Portland's restaurants on the bookshelf. Paul and Carolyn were sweet and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!

    Susan2014-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about our stay! My daughter and I visited Portland for a long weekend. The funky pad was exactly as pictured except, as my daughter said, much better. Paul is a terrific host - friendly, accommodating, and provided all kinds of thoughtful touches. Typically we'd want a kitchen but in foody Portland, didn't miss one. The little fridge/microwave setup was ample for our needs. Smaller bed in the dormer was comfy-cozy for my 12-year old and we enjoyed movies on the couch. Apartment was sparkling clean. For super tall folks or the highly security-minded, might not be your spot (ceilings slope and interior doors don't lock), but for us, it was PERFECT. We would highly recommend Paul and his funky pad.

    Nancy2015-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • We've been road-tripping across the states. Our brief stay in Portland at the funky pad was everything we needed. We left well rested and would definitely stay here again.

Our small (8X12) free-standing studio is light-filled, private and tucked away under the trees. With a comfortable queen-sized bed, microwave, mini-fridge electric kettle and table, you will be cozy here! Please note: The Tiny House does not have its own bathroom. Guests use a shared bathroom just inside the back door of our house (our family has a primary bathroom upstairs, but we use the downstairs bath occasionally. We keep it clean and use it minimally when guests are in the tiny house).
Our tiny house is a delightful retreat. While you do share a bathroom in the house, this outdoor studio will offer you great privacy. The tiny house is set up for you to be able to sleep and make coffee/tea and microwavable meals. There is a mini-fridge for your perishable foods, and microwave and electric kettle. There is a table which you can use for dining and also as your desk. Enjoy sipping a cup of locally roasted coffee (beans provided!) while you enjoy the peaceful trees in our 2/3 acre yard. Our backyard also has a large "pump track" that Joel made, as an enthusiastic mountain biker. Feel free to bring your mountain bikes and ride it! The tiny house is very small so we do not store many things in there, but we do have additional amenities available, including: extra pillows and blankets, extra fans and space heaters, hair dryer, curling iron, clothing iron, yoga mat, extra towels, kitchen utensils, tupperware and more. If there is something you need, just let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate! Please Note: There is no kitchen or plumbing in the tiny house-it is small studio. It works best for guests who plan to eat out or prepare very simple foods with the microwave and mini fridge. We are happy to provide extra plates, silverware, etc. and if you need to wash a dish or two, just let us know and you can pop into our kitchen.
We live in Portland's Lents neighborhood, which is ethnically diverse and not yet gentrified. We are close to some lovely local nature preserves, including Leach Botanical Gardens and Powell Butte. We are also close to freeways, airport, parks and public transit. Please note: We are about 10 miles from downtown Portland and about 3-5 miles from the "hip" neighborhoods in SE Portland that have a lot of walkable attractions. If you have a car it is pretty easy to get around from here, but this is not the ideal neighborhood if you are hoping to walk to Portland's best spots without driving or taking the bus. You can walk to Safeway, Walgreens, and the closest bus stop very easily from here.
  • Kate and Joel are a very welcoming couple and were very accommodating during our stay. We ended up showing up late for our preplanned check-in time but they were still responsive and flexible with our hectic schedule. The room itself is beautifully furnished and very comfortable, with really nice interior work done to the space. The property is very serene and peaceful. Great for anyone needing a place to stay while exploring what hectic activities Portland has to offer.

  • Cute purple tiny home nestled beneath the trees! Kate and Joel were gracious hosts with a very conveniently located tiny home. They provided a mini fridge in the tiny home & a small table, as well as a super useful flashlight. Would highly recommend!

    Leah2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Kate and Joel's tiny home is truly a hidden gem. This was my first visit to Portland and I feel extremely fortunate to have found this cozy retreat. Kate and Joel were prompt and flexible with my arrival and departure, going so far as to provide a space heater and extra blankets ahead of time. The restroom in the back of their home is easily accessible and just on the other side of the door (for those who don't like confrontation or prefer a lot of privacy, this is ideal). Kate and Joel are urban farmers (I grew up on a farm, so this was idyllic) and so have they're own chickens and garden in the front yard (the chickens never woke me from sleeping). They also have two young children, both of whom are equally friendly. My only criticism is perhaps the temperature of the tiny home can be difficult to control. It was dipping near freezing during my stay and so, in bed (making use of the extra blankets and space heater), my body would sweat but my head with remain quite cold (then again, I'm a skinny guy). Regardless, the bed, pillows, and sheets are incredibly comfortable! Distance-wise, it's not super close to downtown (20 minutes away by car), but a relatively short drive to any desirable location. If you're looking for an affordable and quaint place to stay, do yourself a favor. Don't even hesitate. Thank you, Kate and Joel!

  • Kate and Joel were awesome! They provided everything we needed, and also included a very helpful list of all the places to visit around town during our weekend in Portland. The tiny house is very cozy and makes for a great mini getaway feel. We had our privacy but were also notified that we could contact Kate and Joel if we needed anything. Overall, amazing experience! Thanks guys!

I'm offering a comfortable clean bedroom in the best neighborhood in Portland. On all major bus lines. New Seasons market one block away and 20+ restaurants in a 15 block radius. Free street parking. LGBTQ friendly. 3 small dogs live here so if you don't love dogs, this is not the place for you.
I'm offering a bedroom in my four bedroom home on the main floor right next to the shared bathroom. The bed is a comfy queen size. My home has a back porch with a cozy deck for eating breakfast and sipping coffee and a picnic area under the arbor for dinner and relaxing. The dogs can be a bit intense, but Rocky is always down for a head scratch.
Dozens of excellent restaurants within walking distance of the house. Two grocery stores within 4 blocks. Major bus lines will take you downtown in ten minutes. Our neighborhood is quiet and clean in the heart of Portland's biking community. We're also within walking distance to the Aladdin Theater so come see a show while you're here!
  • Kara es muy amable y siempre dispuesta a ayudarte. El vecindario esta muy bonito y de fácil acceso Kara nos presto sus bicicletas para poder movernos en la ciudad.

  • Kara made me feel very welcome. There was a great notebook of house rules and things to do. The house and room were very comfy. Enjoyed riding a bike from the garage and totally loved the neighborhood. Had a very relaxing and pleasant stay. The bed was super comfy.

  • We had a wonderful stay!

    Julia2016-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay. The room is exactly as described. While it's not terribly large, it's big enough and you have a full dresser and closet. Space for your stuff will not be an issue. Arctic blizzard air conditioner for hot days and the bathroom is very conveniently located. Very nice towels. Kara (and the rest of the gang) are extremely gracious. While I didn't interact all that much with them, I never felt like I was intruding or that I had to make conversation. If you want to talk, they're there for you, if you don't, that's fine, too. The neighborhood is great, especially if you like to walk and explore on foot. Clinton has some fun stuff and Division is only a block away. From The Beermonger all the way down to Salt and Straw, there's something for everyone on Division.

    Mike2014-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Kara's home is in a prime spot in the city. The room is very cozy, as was the bed. We felt very welcome and at ease with Kara and the 3 pups. The 4 bikes available for use was an excellent amenity. Access in and out of the home was easy, as directed prior to the visit. If you're in Portland for a food trip, this is the house for you!

    Gabriel2017-11-21T00:00:00Z

My house is close to light rail and bus lines in a quiet and secure area. Many restaurants, coffee houses and bars are within walking distance and there is a large grocery store nearby in case you need provisions. There are parks within walking distance as is the Adidas campus. My place is good for solo adventurers and business travelers. There is another bedroom that can sleep two and I have an air mattress available.
Private home with 2 bedrooms in the upstairs of the house. Fully equipped kitchen with a laundry room. The stove is gas so please ask for instructions on how it works before using. The back yard is shady and there is a patio with a fireplace. The neighborhood is very quiet and easy to walk around in.
There are quite a few very good restaurants with in walking distance of the house with a sprinkling of coffee houses and bars. Well lit and quiet there are also a couple of parks with in a few blocks. Also a great grocery store is near by.

The neighborhood is great and there are nice places to eat and drink just around the corner. Sheilah also went above and beyond to help me retrieve my lost luggage. • the town that the house is located is so cute. there are some good restaurant nearby this house. especially, i like one brunch that it is really close with this house. and there is #72 bus so it is perfect to go somewhere. and easy to get tram by foot. i love this house.

  • Getting to Sheilah's place from the airport taking public transportation was easy. It's around an hour commute. There's a breakfast place called Milk Glass Market close to her place that makes amazing bread pudding!! And there are bus stops all along the main street so taking public transportation around wasn't difficult. Her place is nice and clean and my room was a nice size. Wifi worked well! Didn't get to meet Sheilah but she was very responsive via messaging on air bnb.

We loved our stay! Brendon was a great host, he checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed the wine and treats that were provided :) The place was clean and very comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed and being able to do laundry was a bonus. Brendon also stored our bags for us as we had a late flight on our last day which we greatly appreciated. The house is in a great location. Easy to get around Portland and a quick walk to the light rail. Super cute area, we went on walks every morning. You can hear people walking above during day but we went out exploring during the day so it didn't bother us at all. (and Brendon had mentioned this in the listing). We would recommend staying here to others and if every back in Portland would stay again!
