Spend a unforgettable holiday in the enchanting surroundings of the town of Cisternino (reachable from the near airports of Bari and Brindisi). Trullo Edera offers a heaven of peace and tranquillity, set in an elevated position with a stunning view. It's the perfect place if you like nature. You can stay under an olive tree reading a good book, you can have a walk in the small country streets or go to the nearest beaches. You can even easily visit any of the sights in Apulia such as the caves of Castellana, the trulli of Alberobello, the baroque cities of Lecce and Martina Franca, the excavations of Egnazia, the zoosafari of Fasano, Castel del Monte with Frederick's castle, Grottaglie famous for its ceramics, Taranto, Brindisi and Lecce museums. Prices vary on period and are to be considered included: in-outcoming cleanings, towels, sheets, water, gas, electricity.
  • We had a great stay in Anna's Trullo. The neighbouring countryside is delightful. We rode bikes around the neighbouring areas and explored the countryside dotted with cute Trullo houses. It's a very magical area. You do need a car. We had planned to explore the east coast towns but ended up staying around the house as it was so wonderful and relaxing. Thanks Anna and family!

  • It was the picture if this trullo that made me want to come to Puglia to start with! A really unique, cosy and beautiful place to stay - comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen, and Anna had kindly left us some eggs and water and jam, which was lovely. Sitting out in the little private courtyard, sipping coffee, admiring the view and deciding where to visit was bliss. The location was great (though you will need Anna's instructions to find it the first time!), lovely and peaceful, and really easy to get to nearby Cisternino, Locorotondo, Castellana for the caves, and of course, Alberobello. A wonderful stay in a beautiful piece of Puglian history.

  • We stayed here for 5 nights during the first week of April. Really amazing setting in the countryside and great for children. My daughter loved the two friendly horses and was out every morning to feed them. The location is perfect for exploring the region, right in the middle of everything. Most of the interesting sights are within 30-45mins by car and the drives through the countryside are beautiful. Mama Tonia welcomed us when we arrived, and we managed to understand everything despite our English/Italian being just as bad as each other's (zero😊). She gave us fresh eggs from her hens and some delicious homemade jam (I didn't get what fruit it was...a late autumnal fruit a bit smaller than an orange...anyway it was yummy). The basics were provided, coffee, stuff for cooking etc. There's a good supermarket not far where we got everything else we needed. The nearest Town of Cisternino has a nice centre and the highlight for us was a little local pizzeria where a pretty big pizza cost 4-5 euros on the main high street just before the road bends downhill near the "Centro Storico". The only minus was that the wifi wasn't working while we were there, because of a technical fault in the area. And the walls of the trullo are pretty thick so not much 3G signal when we got inside. Anna did make every effort to get this resolved though. Despite this we had a really good stay and would definitely recommend

  • We loved staying in Anna's trulli home. The home was spacious, beautiful, and charming with two lovely terraces for dining al fresco. Anna was the perfect hostess, answering all our questions and making us feel at home. When we returned from a long day out, we found a plate of fresh figs and wine from her family's vendemmia. I loved sleeping under the dome of a trullo, which stayed cool even in the heat of the day. Cisternino is a charming, authentic town close to the Adriatic beaches, Ostuni, the white city, and olive farms. We highly reccomend Anna's home for your visit in Puglia.

  • Ooooooh, what a wonderful and welcoming place! We loved Annas trullo, the sunny terrace with all the colorful springflowers and the silence of the nature so much! The house is perfectly equipped. Also Anna and her mother Tonia have contributed to make our stay a perfect holiday. They were so nice and hospitable! It's obvious that the really want their guests to enjoy their stay and have everything they need - perfect hosts. We stayed in the trullo for one week at the beginning of may. The house always had a comfortable climate and we slept very well in the beautiful sleeping room. Every morning the sun greeted us through the curtains of the terrace door :-) The location is a great starting point for many places to see in Apulia. It was a nice experience to visit the farmer's market in Cisternino, which takes place every monday morning. Further highlights were Ostuni, Castel del Monte, Matera and a quick bath in the sea. Thank you so much, Anna and Tonia! Your trullo and your hospitality were amazing! Speriamo di rivedervi!

The world famous Seashell house is a gated property .... owners/architects live next door. You will have a private pool, two king beds , kitchenette and BBQ and entire property, both shells . In shell wifi, air conditioning. I am proud to enable your stay . Enjoy a day or more feeling like a celebrity as passers by will seek to look in with intrigued expressions.
My dear friends Raquel and Eduardo Ocampo designed and built the Seashell House and for many years no one knew that it was possible to stay here and fewer knew how to arrange a stay. I decided it was too special to keep to myself and I invited the world via AIRBNB !!! Raquel and daughter Vane are your hosts at this unique island paradise . If crowded pools, lobby's and the "tourist bubble" are not your idea of an escape then the SEASHELL HOUSE may be the perfect place for your stay in ISLA MUJERES. Nearest airport : Cancun International Nearest port :. Puerto Juarez (downtown Cancun adjacent) or Playa Tortugas (Cancun hotel zone) Nearest beach : we face the rocky north side of the island and the best beach is north beach which is 15 minutes away by golf cart. El Garrafon snorkel park is a short distance in the opposite direction. Maximum guests is exactly as specified ...there is space for four . Isla Mujeres is 7 km long and 650 meters wide. Arrive by convenient taxi (6USD)or by golf cart(35 USD PER DAY) to THE SEASHELL HOUSE(S) PRIVATE GATED PROPERTY IN RESIDENTIAL ISLA MUJERES ISLAND ~ PRIVATE POOL ~ ONE KING BED IN EACH HOUSE The residential area is on a cliff side of the tiny island to allow privacy. You are not right in the middle of all the tourists but getting to the most beautiful beaches is easy with a golf cart or taxi. Of course, privacy is sometimes lost as tourists on golf carts notice the spectacular architecture and stop to gawk over the fence making you suddenly understand how celebrities feel. The smaller rounder shell has an immaculate KING BED and private bath with shower and a tv with a wide array of channels in English and in Spanish. The private bath with shower is made of tile and shells . The taller shell has a sitting area downstairs and KITCHENETTE with a large fridge, microwave, gas stovetop and sink with all the tools you need to enjoy meals . The round sitting area also has a tv with satellite channels. There is also a half bath off the sitting area. Up a rounded staircase is the master bedroom with a KING BED and private bath with shower. There is a balcony over looking the pool and across the street , the Caribbean Sea. Wifi is provided for free in the QUEEN CONCH Every room in the house has a remote controlled air conditioner. Towels - linens and soap are provided of course :) Ample parking for your golf cart or scooter. Tiny geckos make there home in and around the property, and all over Mexico, so if cute little geckos freak you out and will disturb your stay then do not come to the Seashell house. Come to Isla Mujeres for a vacation that you will never forget, one that you will have fond memories of all year long...until you come . The houses sleep FOUR PEOPLE TOTAL. There is one king bed in each house. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THE HISTORY : In 1994 architect Eduardo Ocampo arrived in Isla Mujeres and built a house for himself (and later met his wife Maria Raquel) His brother Octavio Ocampo visited frequently, Eduardo had two pieces of land in a quaint residential area with caribbean sea views....and wished to build on his lot for his brother. Of course, this could not be any house. Octavio, a famous painter and needed something unique. Eduardo at first wanted a palala...but this was not allowed...having been very influenced by the "mountains" of seashells all around, he was inspired to actually construct a seashell. This would be the vacation home of his brother (in Cuernavaca) , it would be rounded on the inside, the spiral staircase... just inside the shell, a door where there was the mouth of the shell and windows with the form of shells THE LEGEND : Years later Eduardo would be tickled to learn that the islanders had created a sort of legend which goes like this ... The fisherman of Isla Holbox met with the fisherman of Isla Mujeres to boast of their individual islands...Isla Holbox sounded "Our island is where you find the biggest fish in the world !" The fisherman of Isla Mujeres responded "We are proud to have the biggest shell in the world !" The biggest shell ? Yes the biggest shell !!! When we found it we made ceviche for all of the islanders...and then we sold it to a gringo that lives in it now !" Though the owners are not gringos...they still laugh when they hear the legend. Guests can use the BBQ and parking lot . Raquel and her daughter Vanessa are at the adjacent property . If you cannot find her for your needs you may interact with cleaning or pool staff or leave a message . The neighborhood is beautifully peaceful and quiet . At night it is very dark and very serene . A golf cart is necessary as the Seashell House is located in a residential area. I serve to make your stay possible as I wanted to share it with the world but Raquel is the owner ... Please treat the homes with respect so that she continues to enjoy renting
Residential area of Isla Mujeres is unique..away from the tourists and busy hotels...you can enjoy the stars at night and be incredibly tranquil.

  • My friends and I had an amazing stay. Michelle was very responsive and quick to answer questions. While at the house, Raquel and Octavio were so lovely and welcoming. The house was even better in person! The pool and grounds were beautiful and everything was a short golf cart ride away. I would highly recommend coming here and will be back.

  • raquel is great. She came to ferry to pick me up, and take me to rent the golf cart and exchange some money. She is so helpful and so nice. The seashell house is amazing.

  • The Shell House is amazing! Many tourists will stop to take photos of the house out the front, and why wouldnt you! The interior is just as amazing as the exterior. With a sufficient kitchen to cook (we made dinner there most nights!), two large comfortable bedrooms with ensuites and spacious sitting room there was not much more that we could have asked for. It was a great privilege to have been able to stay in the Seashell House. Thank you Michelle for the quick correspondence and Raquel for being so hospitable and helpful during our stay!

  • My friend and I stayed at the sea shell house recently for 3 nights, it was wonderful! The owner Raquel could not have been any sweeter or helpful. When we arrived our golf cart had broken down up the street from the house and Raquel did not hesitate to call the company speak with the gentleman and arrange for a new golf cart to be brought up to the house! The house itself was beautiful and very private. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Thanks again Raquel for your wonderful hospitality and the nice welcome bottle of tequila!

AIRBNB'S #1 "MOST WISHED-FOR LISTING WORLDWIDE!" *Remaining 2018 dates are available exclusively for folks that have the treehouse on their WISH LIST... Suite of three beautifully furnished rooms set among the trees. Just minutes from downtown, this secluded property is an urban retreat like no other. The treehouse provides an intimate, simple and restful retreat for 2 people. The treehouse is the subject of innumerable articles, blogs, Treehouse Masters and Today Show.
We are honored to have been named Airbnb's "#1 most wish-listed property in the world"!!! Thank you! The treehouse has a Southern nature - gracious, calming, and comfortable. Centrally located within the heart of intown Atlanta, the treehouses are a hidden gem. The subject of TV and magazine features including the Today Show, "Treehouse Masters: Ultimate Treehouse IV", Architectural Digest, Travel + Leisure, Harper's Bazaar, and numerous others, they are often described as being the most relaxing, romantic, dreamy and unique place you'll ever stay. What could be better than falling asleep in the trees and waking up to birds singing around you--all within the city limits? The treehouse consists of 3 separate areas - Mind, Body and Spirit - each connected by rope-bridges. Descriptions of the 3 rooms are below. Mind - The Sitting Room: Antique furnishings and artifacts including 80 year old windows of pressed butterfly wings, a plaster cast of a Siberian Tiger paw, fossils, a couch and chairs, its a great place to read or talk and has a balcony overlooking an acre of lush woods... Body - The Bedroom: Sleeps 2. What could be better than a great bed up in the trees? The super comfortable double bed is outfitted with the world's best bedding: Parachute. These cozy linens are made of 100% long-staple Egyptian cotton and pure Linen. They're Oeko-Tex certified, meaning no harmful chemicals or softening synthetics have been used. You'll have your best night's sleep ever here at the Treehouse! The bed is equipped with wheels so it can either be inside the room or rolled out onto a platform that overlooks the stream below. The mattress has a warmer for cool nights and the tin roof makes rain storms something to be enjoyed. Spirit - The Hammock Deck: Open to the elements and immersed in thick greenery, the deck surrounds the spirited "Old Man", a 165 year old Southern Short-Leaf Pine tree--the largest of the 7 trees that support the treehouse suite and watch over its guests. BATHROOM IS LOCATED IN THE BASEMENT/LOWER LEVEL OF OUR PRIVATE HOME. GUESTS WILL HAVE EXCLUSIVE ACCESS TO IT DURING THEIR STAY. The treehouses and main house share a lot and are within a 30 second walk to one another.
The neighborhood is a quiet, residential place. While our lot is located in a particularly peaceful, private and lush part of the area, it is important to remember that it is in the middle of intown Atlanta. And while very private, you can see other residential buildings from the treehouses.. While you may hear the occasional siren, normal neighborhood noise, the devil's hair dryer (leaf blower) or train whistle during your stay, the most common sound is that of silence broken only by birds, frogs and the wind in the trees.
  • I had the pleasure of staying at the treehouse(s) this past week for an overnight stay. The treehouses are a very unique experience right in the heart of the city, and Peter was a warm and engaged host. The accomodations were charming and quirky, and despite a very warm, humid day, once it was time for bed it was comfortable and surprisingly bug-free (too high for mosquitos, I'm surmising). It was most unusual to be able to sleep outdoors and indoors at the same time, since the bed rolls out a big open space so that you are effectively sleeping under the stars. Very cool experience.

    Marchela2015-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Peter was a wonderful host-- communicative, thorough, friendly, and welcoming. The treehouses are, as other reviewers have eloquently said, absolutely amazing. They are truly a little piece of heaven in the middle of busy Atlanta. The treehouses are impeccably decorated and furnished-- Peter and his wife thought of everything a guest might need. Very nice to have the guest room and bathroom available to us-- even though they're in the house, they're private. Come here to celebrate, to relax, to enjoy a piece of nature in the middle of a metropolis. Thanks for an unforgettable experience, Peter!

    Rachel2014-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend at the treehouse. I was greeted by Daisy and Peter on day one; it was like seeing an old friend (even though we had never met before). What wonderful energy from the hosts, the space, and the surroundings. We didn't want to leave, and I seriously considered looking into squatter's rights. We will continue to return to the treehouse even though it's only 15 minutes from our home/s. It was an amazing experience; one we won't soon forget.

    Stacie2015-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a magical trip. Peter is the kind of charismatic guy that makes you feel instantly comfortable. The neighborhood is great. Rolling hills, tall old trees and beautiful homes. Close enough to midtown but far enough away it's tranquil. The treehouses were even better than the photos. Higher up in the trees than you can tell from the photos which only adds to the feelings of being in the forest. The private entrance to the bathroom and bedroom is very close.

    Erica2015-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • As beautiful as the photos are, they don't fully capture the beauty of the scenery. The treehouses are truly gorgeous! I was a little worried that I would get cold at night, but with the heated mattress pad and a light sweater, it wasn't a problem at all. Peter and Katie also did a wonderful job of making me feel welcome and comfortable. I particularly appreciated having coffee in the mornings. All in all, my stay in the treehouses was a fantastic experience. I only wish I could have spent more time there!

    Alice2015-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • The tree house was nothing short of magical. Peter greeted us upon arrival and gave us tour. The tree houses have so many tiny amazing details, it was nice hearing the background from Peter and getting to discover so many other cute decorations and details over the weekend. As many of the other reviews mentioned, you are not going to want to leave!! It's the perfect place for a relaxing getaway. We took a cab to the tree house and walked up to the nearest grocery store to get snacks. After that we didn't leave much because the tree houses was where we wanted to be. Peter, thank you so much for sharing your space with us. This will be a weekend trip we will never forget and we hope to visit again.

    JoAnna2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse somehow managed to exceed my already high expectations. I'd scrolled through the listing many times and read all the glowing reviews, but none of them compared to the actual experience, which was truly surreal in the best possible way. Peter was a fantastic host, and my girlfriend and I spent way more time in the treehouse than we'd originally anticipated, simply because we didn't want to leave. 12 out of 10 stars.

    Jay2015-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • I surprised my wife for our 25th wedding anniversary here. I wanted to do something different and memorable. The treehouse was both! It exceeded my expectations! You feel a million miles away, but you are so close to everything. An extremely rare combination. The pictures are exactly how it is. It feels like you just entered the photos. We felt like hobbits in Rivendell! Everything was perfect. Peter and Katie were wonderful. They immediately make you feel like you've known them for years, and you are best friends. I'm a little hesitant to rave too much, because I intend on going back, and I don't want it to be booked. We wanted to barricade the doors and not leave, but we didn't think that would be right, so we left. Our home was such a downer when we got back. Literally. We had to come back down to earth.

Escape civilization to this incredible and peaceful getaway! Reconnect with nature and disconnect from technology on your own private deck surrounded by pristine and untouched nature just a short drive away from LA.
This is the personal Airstream of a nature-loving Malibu designer who built it as his personal getaway from his busy hectic schedule. Stripped down to its bare aluminum studs, the airstream has been redesigned into a large studio with three large frameless glass panels that slide open to a huge cantilevered deck with unrivaled views of the pristine Santa Monica mountains rolling down to the Pacific ocean below. Lounge in our luxury extra thick wool rugs and cotton poufs, drive down to surf one of Malibu's best breaks or go hike Sandstone Peak (Santa Monica's highest mountain). But whatever you do, make sure not to miss the incredible sunsets off our deck. At night, watch the milky way appear and count the constellations above or the moon reflect on the ocean below. And if the wind is right, listen to the sounds of the crashing waves travel up the canyon or even the seals barking down below. And then at dawn, if you're lucky with the morning fog, wake up above the clouds like you are the only person in this planet. VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT CLICK ON THE AIRBNB LINK FOR DIRECTIONS as it might take you to the wrong location. Only use the accurate directions provided on our itinerary. If you don't you might get lost and we are not responsible if you do not follow our easy and foolproof directions. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS LISTING if you are afraid of nature or its creatures. Understand you are surrounded by thousands of completely untouched nature. You are very likely to hear (or see) coyotes, owls, seals, roadrunners and bunnies. There is a bobcat in the area but these are usually very skittish. There are a mice in the Santa Monica mountains. About once a month, a guest will complain that they saw a mouse. Said mouse might come into the airstream if food is left outside the fridge. We do not offer refunds if a mouse comes into the airstream but we do have 4 traps around the airstream so the odds are heavily stacked against the mice. In three years we have yet to ever see a rattle snake near the airstream so the area is definitely not prone to them. This listing is weather dependent. If there is a high chance of rain scheduled during your stay we reserve the right to cancel the reservation due to potential slippery road conditions and the fact that we have to store all the expensive furniture inside the airstream. The beauty of this experience lies in seeing infinite views and yet no trace of humankind. Sleeping with the doors open, under the milky-way while hearing the ocean waves crashing below and the occasional seal barking in the distance or coyote howling for its pack. Our guests have the most special nights here. Reconnect with nature and disconnect from technology :-)
Circle x ranch, county line beach, matador beach, zuma as well as many other hikes are all less than 10mn away.

  • Unbelievable views over the coast and great night sky, recommend an Suv to reach the Airstream. We fell asleep outside under the stars, it was so quiet.

    Kristen2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was amazing. The $$$ was definitely worth it once you see it in-person. Once in a lifetime views of the sunset and stars. A few things we did right: 1. Got up to the Airstream before the sun started going down. Would be hard to find otherwise. 2. Brought a very easy to make dinner, snacks, and a lot of water. 3. Enjoyed our time listening to music with a speaker I brought, reading, hanging out with the neighbors dog (who we called Charlie only because we didn't know it's name) and looking at the stars. Few things to note: 1. Only follow (Hidden by Airbnb) Maps to get to the road- but follow her instructions closely. 2. We drove up in a Chevy Volt (not the best off-reading vehicle). We got up there- but would have been easier in an SUV. 3. Remember your way up the mountain- because we took the wrong way down and it wasn't good for the car- or the other person who caught us going the wrong way and had to back-up on a mountain. The stay was great and we will definitely do it again!

The nearest village is 500 meters far. - Fully equipped kitchen. You are your own master chef. - Scooter for free. - Music. Stereo system, ukulele, drum! - Hideout is also shelter for kittens, which is super cute and cuddly. You can also meet our friendly Hoki dog, if we are in the garden with her. - You can experience authentic Balinese lifestyle, cultural habits and observe many wonderful things in nature. CONs - You can’t lock the bamboo house, there are no secure doors. But there is a safe box installed. - From time to time, villagers need to use the river for bathing (naked), washing clothes and performing ceremonies. - Hideout is part of local nature, our cleaning standards are at the highest, but that doesn't stop occasional insect, frog or mouse from visiting the house. Please consider this before booking. - Did you know that spider can make a new web in under 1 hour? With our biggest efforts to keep the houses perfect and insect free, you have to expect that there will be some spiders, some bugs and some mosquitos. That is just nature and we can't do anything more for it. :) - The Internet is very poor and sometimes not working at all. We recommend being prepared for the off-the-grid experience. - There are cats and dogs living on the property and visiting Hideouts daily. They are all vaccinated and well behaved. Don´t book Hideouts, if you have an allergy or if you don´t want to be close to the animals. - We are not a hotel, we don't offer hotel services or 24/7 reception. We are true Airbnb experience. :) Because the house is located near river and rice fields you will be in touch with nature. That's why is Hideout most suitable for guest which enjoy animals and are not afraid of a little bit of the wildlife. :) If you have any questions regarding living animals, please ask us in advance. The building has two floors, on the first floor, you can find a neat, fully equipped kitchen, cozy living/relaxing area (with extra hanging hammock), big wardrobe with safety box, bathroom, and entrance to the outdoor shower. On the second floor, there is a spacious bedroom, providing king size bed with mosquito net (and extra bed 140cm - no mosquito net) all possible to accommodate up to 4 adults if needed. Right in front of the unique triangular window, there is large lounge bean bag for reading, cuddling and relaxing, the perfect place for meditation or playing a musical instrument, all with direct view to the shimmering river. Bamboo is well-known for its temperature stability, thanks to natural ventilation, there is no need for AC or a fan. There are no secure doors in the bamboo house, you can't really lock the house, don't be afraid though this is a very safe area. Recently we had an amazing time cooperating with SUKU Home. We are very grateful for this happy cooperation, thanks to the amazing collective behind SUKU Home products, our guests have the pleasure to experience their super smooth Bamboo beddings in Hideout. Ultra soft and delicate bedding made from 100% Bamboo Rayon, carefully & individually hand-dyed using a traditional batik technique. Hand sewn and made with love. Bamboo-derived rayon is softer than any high thread count cotton. They also have naturally antibacterial properties, making them great for anyone with sensitive skin. These sheets will keep you cool even in the hottest night. No AC required. :)
Hideout is in walking distance from a resort where you can have a lovely dinner in the restaurant with unforgettable view to Gunung Agung. You can easily reach many traditional small shops / warung. Beware that the nearest ATM is from a local bank, it only accepts Mastercard. International ATM is about 35 minutes by car away - do come prepared! There are so many things to explore around - by foot or by bike. Just to mention.. you can go trekking through the rice fields, you can climb Gunung Agung, visit Tirta Gangga, Ujung Temple, go snorkeling or diving, visit night market, visit shaman or local temples, go to experience Pura Besakih, have a wild day of rafting and many more.
  • Eco Bamboo Home has been so awesome to us! It was just only a night but the memorable stay will stay with us forever. Alena and Nyoman have been great in making sure we are comfortable and safe! We will definitely come back again!

  • The place was as amazing as it seemed. The drive up was beautiful and it was very easy to find with the directions given. As you walk into the gate the smell was intoxicating, and the place has so much charm. We were given a quick tour of the place and they had everything there you would need if you decided not to leave for your entire stay. Wayan’s food was delicious, he really is a great cook, and my wife and I were taking notes. You really have to experience this place to get a feel for how awesome it was. Thanks for having us!

  • Wow. That's all I can really say about this place. People have thrown around "best place I've ever stayed" in these reviews a lot.... and I can see why. If you are looking for a place far away from tourists and city life.... this is your spot. My girlfriend and I spent 12 days in Bali and stayed in places all across the island, all of them wonderful. But none of them we're anything like the 2 nights we spent in this gem. We felt like we were truly experiencing Bali as you should. The home is nestled between a rice field and a forested jungle area and when you are there, it feels as if it's the most private, secluded place on earth (but it is only a short walk from the road). Only the sound of the stream and chirping birds can be heard. The house itself is simply amazing. Great attention to detail was taken in the construction of this entirely bamboo home. It is an open design so there are no locking doors but we were not concerned about theft or our things whatsoever. There is a small lock box where you could put your valuables if you were worried. If you are freaked out by bugs....you should quit being so squeamish and appreciate the incredible surroundings. :) Of course there will be an ant or two when you are in the jungle in a bamboo house! But nothing to be worried about. There is a mosquito net around the bed so no worries of bugs when you are sleeping. Wayun was so friendly and helpful. He lived probably about 10 minutes from the property but there was a cell phone with only one number that you could call him on if you needed anything he was there to help. We also utilized the small scooter a ton in the 2 days we were there. We explored all around the area, drove through the villages and even up to the top of a mountain that was close by and visited a beautiful temple at the top we didn't even know was there! If you want to truly experience Balinese village life in a secluded area at the most unique and beautiful homes you'll ever stay in, find a way to make it here! One more thing.....we found an amazing restaurant called Warung Damuh about 10 minutes away by motorbike in a nearby village called Sideman. They had extremely fast wifi, great food and cheap prices. The wifi in the bamboo home is very very slow, almost unusable (understandably, as it is in a small village) so it can't be relied on for much, but we felt it was kind of refreshing to not have internet and be plugged in the entire time. Overall, an absolutely incredible place, I will likely never find anything else like it. If you want the Balinese experience like it was meant to be..... stay here.

  • Alena was an awesome host! She gave us an introduction to the house and showed us around! Guest must be comfortable with the living in nature and an active cat as it tends to disturb you at night during your sleep! Overall great place to stay and chill and definitely very Instagram-able (;

  • Wauw - this place is the best! We fell in love not only with the house but with the whole area! Can't recommend enough to go - pack your back and go!! It's paradise on earth! We fell in love with the garden, the river, the way the house is builed, the village and the hideout's short story! We felt so welcomed by Wayan and the sweet gardner (sorry can't remember his name). It is beautiful and magical - we wanna go again - thank you for sharing this little pearl on earth with us!

    Camilla2016-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Oh what can I say!? This place is just stunning, peaceful and so unique! In the middle of ricefields and palm trees we fell asleep to the sound of the river. The house and the whole surrounding is beautiful, you nearly feel like in a fairytale! Thank you for having us, we would love to come back on our next Bali stay! It was one of the most beautiful accommodations we lived in!

    Caroline2016-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Alena's house is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have ever been. She was extremely helpful in her responses on the app and Wayan and Nyoman went out of their way to help us. Highly recommended and can't wait to return!!

In such a tranquil setting, often with a gentle breeze blowing, our guests are soothed into sitting back, relaxing and marveling. Set on the sacred Ayung river valley, this all bamboo house is unique. First established in 2010, it is part of a master-planned community of luxurious bamboo villas with distinctive blonde roofs. Entering the house is a feast to the eyes and a showcase at how black and white bamboo can be combined in all shapes and pattern to create a stunning collection of luxurious floors, walls, ceiling, stairs and railings. Even the roof is an innovative arrangement of bamboo shingles. Sunrise House, perched on the edge of the Ayung river gorge, comprises four floors, 3 double bed bedrooms each with ensuite bathrooms, kitchen, lounge and dining space with fabulous views, plunge pool, a work space on the top (4th) floor, and fantastic pristine panoramas. Guests enter via the 3rd floor, where the lounge, a kitchen and media room are situated. Descending the stairs to the second floor leads to the north and south bedrooms, each with cooling fans, and ensuite bathrooms. The lowest floor holds the AC cooled Master Bedroom. The master bedroom also includes a drying room with a de-humidifier. All the bedrooms have wind down bamboo blinds for privacy. From the lowest floor, guests can exit the house and descend the stairs to the plunge pool and private garden, perched quite literally on the edge of the river valley. All the rooms are furnished with exquisite bamboo furniture which perfectly complements the décor. The scenery and view from the house amazes guests. We also offer private lunch /dinner catering or a Balinese chef to cook at your villa and menus from Ubud restaurants who will deliver takeaway meals direct to this house! Part of our attraction is that we are set in a very natural environment, and whilst there a couple of local village stores nearby with some very basic supplies, we are 15 mins away the main road. We can help buy supplies for guests, but we do recommend guests bring along any personal supplies you may need, snacks, fruits, drinks. Other available services are massage, and car with driver, and Bamboo related workshops and tours. We are located 25 minutes from Bali’s cultural center of Ubud, and 30 minutes to Sanur beach

  • Our stay in the "Bamboo Palace" was once again an amazing experience ! Perfect location, perfect people, perfect villa, perfect stay amongst nature - complete satisfaction. We can not thank you enough - we will be back again for our anniversary in paradise!!!

    Lulu2016-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is really a very very unique 'house' in the jungle! The setting on the cliff, in the middle of the tropical forest is already super. But the design, concept and building of the villa itself is truly a masterpiece. We will never look at bamboo with the same eyes again! The spaces, the views, the details, the service (breakfast, massges,...). Next time we don't go to Ubud center anymore (disappointing) and just stay in the Bamboo Villa as it reflects the true Bali spirit better in our opinion. Last detail: the small private and bigger 'public' natural pools are perfect refreshing oasis. Get there, it's unique !

    Tom2014-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Bamboo House is itself exceptional! Fantastic design, 4 levels, almost completely made out of bamboo. Service was spotty. Airport transfer was not arranged properly and I could not get hold of anyone for 24hrs. The massage was great. Note: air-conditioning only in bed area of master bedroom. Lots of mosquitos. Driver is expensive ordered through them.

    Vincent2015-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sunrise House was brilliant, I hope to return one day, the team at Green Village are outstanding, I cannot rate this property high enough!

    Kate2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Mirna is such a nice, friendly person. We had a warm welcoming when we arrived at the Bamboo house. In the Bamboo house a big fresh fruit bowl was served every day. If you want to do any activity Mirna organize everything for you.

    Sabine2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • A truly unique experience of staying in a house all made of bamboo. I would recommend a visit to the nearby Bamboo Factory to truly appreciate the bamboo house for the structural design, construction and materials used. The villa manager (Maggie) and the staff were very professional. Stay at Green Village is highly recommended if you are comfortable with a few bugs and bats invading your personal space.

Located in the coffee region, in the Andean mountains of Colombia, South America, a charming cabana made from bamboo, with a great view and a "sendero" or pathway through the bamboo forest which criss-crosses our 5 acre organic farm, leading down to a stream. A place to relax and commune with nature.
Surrounded by beautiful rainforest plants, strategically placed for privacy, with an outdoor shower in a garden. Commune with nature, listen to crickets and night and birds in the morning. Situated on a small organic farm. We grow tropical fruits and trees, flowers, with aloe vera as our main crop. There is an enchanting pathway through our bamboo forest, leading down to a mountain stream and a small waterfall. Near many coffee region tours and attractions, including our own organic farming workshops, visiting a nearby bee farm where our neighbor propagates bees in danger of extinction, local coffee tours, butterfly emporium, hang gliding, zip lining, white water rafting, horseback riding, hiking, visiting nearby historic towns and world heritage sites.
We are situated in the heart of the coffee region in the Andean mountains in Colombia. We are in "Vereda La Pradera" neighborhood, near the small town of "El Caimo", 20 minutes from Armenia and 20 minutes from the airport, by car. Close enough for comfort and easy access, far enough from the hustle of traffic and city noise that you can commune with nature. Sleep to the sound of the crickets and awaken to the sound of birds.

Appearing in numerous books on natural building, our cottage is a welcoming and cozy retreat hand sculpted of local, sustainable natural materials located on a lovely acreage with sheep, gardens and orchards.
Our neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. We are a ten minute walk from the beach and a twenty minute walk, in the other direction, to a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce, as well as galleries, a bookstore, and a spa.
  • The cob cottage was cute, cozy, clean and comfortable. The property provides an idyllic setting of forest and farm animals. The kitchen was well equipped for simple meal preparation and we appreciated the fresh eggs, milk, bread, tea and coffee. We had everything we needed, including clean towels, lots of blankets and cushions, books, firewood, candles and even a jar of "sheep treats". We would definitely go again.

  • So welcoming, and its' the perfect setting! Love the farm, Alexis is truly a special person! Love the Island and all the friendly people on it. Great for biking, hiking, sitting by a fire, reading a book, or just relaxing. A perfect little gem on a gem of an island.

    Susan2015-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Cob Cottage was superb. Peaceful and well appointed, comfortable and definitely unique. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return. Thank you Alexis

  • Oh how I wish I had the writing skills to express my feelings of the cottage, the property, the family, and the island! Do read all the beautiful reviews before my own. They have captured my own thoughts on this experience. Unique, private, peaceful. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this rental. It's truly a dream. A+ :) Highly recommended!

  • Nice, cozy stay. The place is way better than described. Would definitely recommend.

    Kirby2016-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Alexis was a great host and the cottage was awesome! One of the most relaxing weekends I've had in a while!

    Mike2016-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Cob House was amazing. We were looking for a quiet, beautiful place to stay off the beaten path and this was the perfect place. The location on the island is central and easy to get to all areas of the island. But even just staying in the house and staying on property is lovely. We spent many hours just sitting in the house reading by the fire and drinking tea. Alexis did a great job of welcoming us and she was the perfect host. I cannot recommend this place enough.

    Sam2016-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We spent three fantastic days here - we came a day after our wedding for our "minimoon", and the peace, quiet, and natural beauty was just what we needed to relax after our fabulous but exhausting big day. Alexis and Manny were easy to communicate with, took us to and from the ferry, and welcomed us with eggs, milk, butter, and delicious walnut banana bread. The cob itself is beautiful architecture - the quintessential Gulf Island experience - and is comfortably furnished and well-equipped with all the kitchen basics and a few staples. The 5 sheep, chickens, and the purrful cat, Sam, add to the ambiance for animal lovers. We also appreciated the collection of books, as we hadn't brought our own! We explored the area on foot, including a short hike in a nearby regional park, and poked about in the artisan shops of Miners Bay. We look forward to coming back again - perhaps for our anniversary!

With a geodesic dome loft & a large deck in the trees, you'll feel like you're in a tree house in the woods. Since we book so far in advance, if you would like to stay here, check out our other listing, the Hummingbird Haven: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6562632 We are in a quiet yet convenient location. Shaded by Oak and Madrone trees and next to a Redwood grove, you can enjoy the outdoors from the deck. In the summer, it is cool and in the winter you might get to hear the creek running below.
We have 10 acres next to land without fences so you will get to enjoy nature: just hang out on the deck, take a hike in the woods, watch the hummingbirds, pet the goats, go to the beach or gaze at the stars - as long as the moon isn't full. ; ) During the summer, if there isn't any nightly fog, we can see the Milky Way here. To check our availability, click on the "Request to Book" link. And yes, if it isn't available, it is already booked! If you want to stay here on a weekend, you will usually need to make your reservation request about 9-11 months in advance. (Please read all of this description before making a reservation request.) The cozy and clean semi-rustic cabin has a loft under a geodesic dome (the "mushroom cap"). In the loft is a Queen-sized super popular Casper Mattress which allows for very comfortable sleeping and just hanging out, We provide clean sheets and pillow cases. Plenty of blankets are also provided. The other "bed" is a couch that we can make up into a bed. If there are going to be 2 of you, but you want separate beds, please make the reservation for 3 or let me know ahead of time - there is a $10. charge for using it as a bed. In the loft, we have a 32" HD Flat Screen and a DVD player (no TV) for movies. (We have over 80 movies you can view as well.) On the main floor (a Pentagon) is the couch and a pull-out table. We provide a small refrigerator, a blender, Hot Air Popcorn Popper, French Coffee Press, an Electric Water Kettle, a salad spinner and dishes. Yes, we have a wine opener. We have 2 tables where you can enjoy meals, games, etc.: 1 inside and 1 outside on the large deck that faces the redwoods. We also have a barbecue grill on the deck with an extra gas burner on the side. We provide Organic Coffee, teas, Oatmeal, popcorn, butter, honey, sugar, nutritional yeast (for the popcorn!) spices, oil and vinegar and various snacks. Our well water is treated by an ozonator, a UV light and a soft water filter. If you have a baby and you won't be needing the second bed, make your reservation for 2 and let us know if you will need a small pad for the loft. Again, if there are 2 of you but you want to use the second bed, please make your reservation for 3. The cute bathroom has a Travertine shower, custom tiled sink and a Natures Head self-contained composting toilet. Some guests have had a problem with our bathroom, so I want to make it clear that we have a curtain for the door to the bathroom and we require that you put your used toilet paper in the trash. (it won't smell) If you follow the instructions for how to use the toilet, it won't have any odor. If the thought of using a composting toilet grosses you out, then don't make a reservation here. ; ) We provide towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, a hair blow-dryer, etc. (a word of caution: the bathroom has a low ceiling. If you are over 6' you may have to do a little ducking here and there.) As Saturdays are very much in demand, (and we like to be free on Saturdays), we require a minimum 2 day stay on the weekends. Keep in mind that Friday and Saturday nights are $155. each. Therefore, to stay here on a weekend will cost $310. plus the $35. cleaning fee, the $41 airbnb fee and the 11% Santa Cruz County Transient Tax of about $42. So for the weekend, it will be a total of about $428. To stay for 1 day mid-week costs a grand total of about $200. On 3 day holidays, we require a 3 day reservation. (This includes Presidents Day, Memorial Day, M.L.King day, and Labor Day.) But to stay here on a weekend, you will usually have to book the cabin 6 - 8 months in advance - unless you are lucky to find a cancellation! Check-in time is between 4 and 10pm. If you want to come sooner or later, this can sometimes be arranged. Check-out time is noon. As we have experienced some damage from guests, we are now requiring a $100. security deposit. Although it feels very isolated here, we are less than 10 minutes to Aptos Village where you will find stores, restaurants, a health food store, Safeway, etc. We are centrally located on the Monterey Bay: 10 minutes from the beach (Rio Del Mar and Seacliff State Beach) as well as the 10,000 acre Nisene Marks State Park for miles of hiking or dirt biking in the Redwoods and along Aptos creek. We are 20 minutes to downtown Santa Cruz, 25 min. to the Beach Boardwalk, 45 minutes to Monterey and the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, 50 min. to Carmel and 1 1/2 hours to Big Sur going south and San Francisco to the North. Yup, we are located in one of the most beautiful areas of California. (these times are not during rush hour(s) ; ) If you love hummingbirds, bring your camera. Our garden is the year-round home to many Anna Hummingbirds. (We usually have about 250-500 year-round) During the summer, we are also called home by many Rufus and Allen Hummers as well. So you have got to see our "Hummingbird Airport" where we feed them about 120 oz. of syrup on a summer day! Please, no smoking in the cabin or on the property. We used to let smokers stay here, but they stink up the cabin and it is a fire hazard outside. Some cell phones don't work here, but since we have free wifi in the cabin, if your phone works with a wifi network, you are good to call. You can sometimes get Verizon service on the swinging seat by the driveway. To learn about things to do in the area, do an internet search for Santa Cruz, CA. Dogs are welcome to stay here but with a few requirements: since we have so many animals, we require that your dogs be kept on a leash when outside (the goats get very nervous with large loose dogs). Also, we don't allow dogs in the loft or on the couch downstairs so please bring a doggie bed. (your doggie can go on the couch if you bring a cover for it) If that is difficult, let us know and we will provide a doggie pillow. We have a gate that we can set up so your dog can be off the leash on the deck. If you are bringing a small child, we can put a folding futon (2/3rds of the futon or a foam pad next to the bed ) Just let us know ahead of time. Keep in mind, though, that a child should not be left in the loft by themselves as the bed is fairly high up against the rail. As we are about 3 miles to the nearest bus stop, it is pretty difficult to stay here without a car. You are invited, if you feel you would be harmonious here. Pet the goats, check out our chickens, cats, miniature dog and enjoy the very fresh air. I might even teach you how to milk a goat. If you come here when there is no moonlight and the sky is clear, you will see lots of stars. Tired of the heat in the summer? Since we are on the edge of the "fog belt", it can be both sunny and cool here. If you want a noisy place, you won't like it here: most of the sound here comes from the birds or crickets chirping, the tree frogs croaking and the breeze blowing through the trees. People do live on the land here though, so don't expect it to be totally devoid of human sounds and the occasional chain saw. : ) (We feed the goats oak branches)
Even though we live only a 8 minute drive to Aptos village and the beaches, it feels very remote and private here. It is usually very quiet at night - sometimes we can hear the ocean waves crashing on the beach. There is lots of land to hike on and explore here as well. We have 11 people living here in a rather loose community.
  • We had a wonderful time in the Mushroom dome. We celebrated my birthday there and the atmosphere was beautiful. I can fully recommend the place and also Kitty as a host- it was great to meet her and chat with her. We were a bit sad that we could only stay for one night and would love to come back!

  • This treehouse is in a stunningly beautiful setting. It was so peaceful and so lovely that a few days became a real vacation and felt like a real break from life. Kitty and Michael were just lovely and made us feel right at home. Kitty even came to our rescue when we needed help on one of our adventures.

    Allison2016-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Very interesting place to stay - don't be scared in the forest, it's really peaceful - we slept like logs. Kitty is a mine of information - she is a really interesting lady, with lots of knowledge about local history, environmental issues and secrets of the redwoods - I can't tell you what - or I will have to kill you!! I think if we had stayed for longer, we would have spent more time talking to Kitty - she was ace! we only stayed 2 nights and tried to fit in Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay in the one full day we had before we continued on our journey. There are lot's of interesting people actually living on the property and surrounding redwood forest - My advice - stay longer, if you can't - spend more time with Kitty asking about the area and actually on the property. Look out for for the goat/sheep dog - he is cute, but had his beady eye on me when I tried to touch the goats, see the hummingbirds (we didn't) see the grass hut (but don't go too near, or touch it) try to see a mountain lion.....

  • Kitty is one of the most lovely people I've met. Thank you Kitty for being such an amazing host and for making our experience at The Dome so beautiful and exciting. :) The Dome itself was AWESOME! It's gorgeous, absolutely breathtaking. You're surrounded by trees everywhere, the small cabin itself is compact and super organized and well designed. Truly an inspirational place. I can't wait to go back!

    Celeste2013-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • The mushroom dome is an amazing place that you must stay at it, if you get the chance. The best part might be the wrap-around porch where you can hang out all day and grill. The woods around it are beautiful, and there's a nice hike you can take to the top of a hill where you can see the bay. Kitty and Michael are awesome hosts-- they showed us their chickens, goats, and hummingbirds. We also got to hang out with their 2 dogs and cats. Definitely stay here if you can!

    Jessica2013-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • The mushroom dome is totally unique. We were there on a full moon and it was extra memorable, the setting is beautiful woods and the entertainment of hummingbirds, goats, chickens, dog and cats was enjoyed by all of us, especially our 8 year old daughter. The sound effects in the dome are really fun. Kitty was very warm and welcoming. Definitely recommend arriving before dark to get situated and navigate the steep and curvy driveway. It's an adventure and we loved this opportunity to visit a permaculture/commune/artist haven and special place.

    Rachel2015-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the mushroom! So peaceful being up in the woods, but also so close to so many great things in the area. Kitty was a great host, and showed us the hummingbirds when we arrived which was great, as well as giving us some fresh goats milk! We used the BBQ on the deck every night. We had a small ant problem one morning which Kitty and Michael sorted out right away. We had a brilliant experience and would love to return one day! Thank you

    Graham2015-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • I really can't say anything here that hasn't been said before. This is a super cute, isolated little dome. We loved that we could be secluded and still have hot water, electricity for our computers, items to cook with etc. The hummingbirds were my favorite part. There are just so many of them, and they are beautiful. Thanks Kitty for a great stay! Mike and Danielle

Enjoy peace, quiet, and beautiful views in Cazadero. For each rental, $50 will be donated to Raphael House, a San Francisco organization whose goal is to help at-risk families achieve stable housing and financial independence.
This little a-frame cabin would make a productive retreat for an artist, writer, or musician, or a romantic getaway. Surrounded by redwoods on a private road in Cazadero, my cabin is an hour and forty-five minutes north of San Francisco: a roughly ten-minute drive to the beautiful Sonoma Coast, and just fifteen minutes to Guerneville and wine country in the other direction. Head west and you’ll hit the charming town of Duncans Mills; go east to Monte Rio, and catch a movie at the historic Rio Theater. The full bed sleeps one or two comfortably. No TV or microwave; yes record player, wood-burning stove, equipped kitchen, and lots of cookbooks. The backyard is sunny and sloping with a view. There’s a table and bench on the deck for al fresco dining. And there’s speedy wireless Internet, too.
  • The cabin was beyond our expectations. Easy, beautiful drive into Jenner. You can spend your day on the beach and be only a few minutes away from town and your cabin. The host was very accommodating and gave us a list of fun things to do. The best part was being next to the fire enjoying the record player.

    Ruby2016-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience - we had lots of fun! Enjoyed the stereo and vinyl records and loved the seclusion! Would love to make it back some time!

    Brian2016-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel was very helpful with providing directions and information about the place. The architecture was beautiful and the interior was extremelly cozy. Everything was clean when we arrived, and there were a lot of useful things in the place that we could pass the time with. Such as board games and very interesting books. Its close to the russian river and other natural parks that you can explore. I really enjoyed sitting on the back deck and staring at the trees.

    Sheena2015-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is so nice and high privacy, just not very clean, but still acceptable. The toilet lock is broken. The bed is comfortable. Rachel's respond is quick and easy to communicate.

    Kassy2017-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • House was clean and instructions were clear.

    Jordan2018-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • This little cabin is rustic and charming. It requires a little more work than your traditional “stay” but Rachel shares all of the information and has everything on hand that you need. This was my second stay and it was as beautiful as the last. I recommend this AirBnB. Especially if you’re looking for a unique experience.

    Candace2017-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin itself was the cutest thing I've ever seen. It definitely fulfilled my "glamping" requirement; perfect if you're looking for something a little remote and secluded. Rachel was a great Hostess! Prior to our travel dates, she sent a very thorough email with instructions AND ideas of things to do; it was invaluable and very much appreciated. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. This was the perfect escape from the city, and we'll definitely be back. Thank you, Rachel!

    Kate2014-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel ' cabin is an absolute dream! We wish we could have stayed longer. It was very romantic and cozy making dinner while listening to old records and having a fire place to warm up the place. Everything was very cozy, especially the bed! Communication with Rachel was easy, she sent us all the info that we needed and gave great recommendations. We're already making plans to come back!

The Eden Valley is the quiet side of the county of Cumbria in North West England, naturally beautiful quiet & away from the crowds of the nearby national parks of the The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales . Its not remote , is very easy to get to but still feels well off the beaten track.
  • What an amazing place! Was made to feel very welcome and the whole experience of staying in a castle was perfect. The room and ensuite were superb and the meals devine.

  • What a unique stay! Loved all the decor and the atmosphere of the home. We were put in the Middlesmoor room which had lots of light and could see out into the gardens. Beds were super comfortable and everyone was friendly. Will be back and most definitely recommended to friends back home - thanks again.

  • The listing was easy to find with the accurate instructions provided, and the rooms were exactly as listed online. Although Simon & Wendy were not present during my stay, the staff operating the B&B did a fantastic job making guests feel at home. Food served from the kitchen was delicious and professionally prepared, both breakfast and the evening dinner (though the dinner menu was limited). For guests wishing to see the area around the listing, there are many places to go and things to do, and the staff is happy to help. WiFi was available, but the signal strength was not necessarily high in all of the rooms, so guests who absolutely need to use WiFi may wish to confirm which rooms they are staying in, but it was not a problem for me during my stay.

    Benjamin2015-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay at Wendy's castle, I should have come earlier to enjoy the movie room and the bar at the castle. Wendy is a very nice host with fast response. Great castle experience. Thanks Wendy. :)

  • Staying in a castle was something on my bucket list- so I had pretty high expectations! And, staying here exceeded those expectations! We loved our experience in the castle, and the staff was very friendly. We rented a car and drove here from Manchester then drove to London. I highly recommend this-the drive is beautiful. I wish we could have stayed more than one night, but even the one night was completely worth it. This place is great for kids, teens, no kids, weddings, honeymoons, family reunions, etc. Loved it!!!

The Off-grid itHouse brings together raw industrial aesthetics with the tactics of green design to forge a new home in the sunbaked wilds of the California high desert.
The Off-grid itHouse is an architecturally significant house, recently noted by Dwell as one of the 'Best Homes in America' and in the Los Angeles Times as one of the best houses of all time in Southern California. The Off-grid itHouse is one of 10 IT Houses built in California, which have received much acclaim such as the Western Home award sponsored by Sunset magazine. Also noted as one of the top 10 airbnb rentals worldwide. This is the prototype for the pre-engineered system known as the IT House. The house is 100% off-grid, powered by solar panels for energy and hot water, and is located in a pristine remote valley in the beautiful California high desert. The house observes key green principals of smaller footprint, minimal disturbance to the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, use of renewable resources, and living simply and minimally. The setting of the house is remote and serene, a quiet refuge from everything, free from distractions. Amazing views and vistas in all directions. Perfect for design or green aficionados, writers or those needing a secluded quiet getaway.
Located in Pioneertown, CA, nearby several unique attractions, Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy and Harriets Pioneertown Palace, local museums and art venues such as the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum, the Integratron, and other seasonal events.
  • Awesome place. We spent 5 days enjoying the stunning desert view at daytime and the star filled sky at nighttime. The house is everything you could wish for at such a great location. Thank you for hosting us.

    Sebastian2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing house. For anyone who loves design, wildlife, outdoors and/or green - this place has it all. Stayed for three nights. Due to the nature of the full glassed room - sleeping the first night felt 'exposed', but soon got used to it. You can spend hours (with a cold beer ;)) just staring out the windows during sunset. I was rewarded with a bobcat sighting from the living room on my last night. The house can be located via GPS. Since you are in the desert, expect to 'share' the house with some neighbors. My stay included beetles, lizard and ants. Although the drive into town is less then 15 mins - suggest getting provisions for the whole stay and just enjoy the house and its surroundings. [During my stay, there was a trailer parked on the hill that looked directly into the house - hence, was not as private as we wanted it to be]

  • This is a very special place, Linda has created a unique home that blends in with the landscape wonderfully. Arriving at a home as isolated as this could have been a very daunting experience, Linda ensured that it was not, she was incredibly attentive about everything particularly getting there safely! Inside the house is furnished simply and tastefully. We left with heavy hearts.

    Robert2014-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • I had been wanting to stay at this house for a very long time. It was one of the first postings I had ever seen on airbnb. When you get to the house, it does not disappoint. The views are incredible! You will see desert wildlife as well as the arms of the milky way. The furniture in the house encourages you to sit back, relax and to enjoy the environment. The interior design of the home makes you feel as you are immersed in a piece of artwork. Linda, The host, was incredibly helpful. The booking was last minute and I had so many questions. Linda answered them and was incredibly polite and patient. At the time of booking she will also send you a house manual that prepares you for how to live off the grid.

  • If you are into what the future of housing would be in a perfect world, look no further. The opportunities to experience serenity, aesthetics, comfort, and sustainability in an outstanding setting are few and far between thank you Linda for opening the doors to this home for us.

  • What an incredible experience! I love Joshua Tree already, but to stay in a place like this AND go do Joshua Tree... just awesome. I took my boyfriend here for a surprise and he gave it an "A+". We are both designers, so this was right up our alley :) All the other reviews are spot on. A couple things to note: If you have the option to bring an SUV/Off-road-ish vehicle, do so. The road to the house is dirt and treated with ridges and there are some rough spots. It's not going to kill your car, but like I said, if you have the option... We came in the winter time, and like Linda had advised, power is quite scarce. It was by no means inconvenient, though. We ran out of power twice, but it was also quite cloudy during the day, so the solar panels couldn't harness a lot of energy. The views, and the ambiance of the house's setting is unforgettable. What a great set up. Well done, Linda! You'll enjoy your time here, for sure.

    Jacqueline2014-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing. Gorgeous setting & views, and the house itself is awesome. Linda was quick & easy to communicate with, and very accomodating. Finding the house and getting access to it was super straight forward. Didn't have any issues with water or electricity, although we were pretty careful. Definitely plan on returning many times!

    Raza2014-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning off-grid house in a remote desert area. Our 3 day stay was immensely relaxing and is best enjoyed with only the sounds and sights of surrounding nature. The solar power system was not fully operational, where we used a handful of lights and running water, but lost power each night until noon the next day (be careful leaving any food in the 2 drawer refrigerators). There is no Verizon cell coverage and on-site wifi is ok for emergencies but is powered by solar so plan accordingly. It was fairly private however the neighbors on the hill above to the right were visible from the land and extremely loud. The few miles of dirt/sand road is best with all-wheel drive and decent ground clearance.

  • An amazing wonderful place to stay at in Northwest Iceland. The space is beautiful both inside and out, and we loved relaxing on the back porch, eating breakfast. The property does a great job feeling remote, while being completely accessible to the city at the same time. The power went out briefly, and a quick call to the host had it resolved within no time at all. I definitely look forward to staying here again.

    Connie2014-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • We felt very welcome in Akureyri and, despite how beautiful the pictures were, we were stunned by the beautiful view of the city. Inga accommodated all of our requests and if we could stay in this place all over again we would.

  • The place was great and everything we expected from the photos. There were minor issues while we were there but did not affect our stay. We wish we stayed longer in Peturs place as it was such an amazing experience to be surrounded by nature. To top it off we had 2 great nights with the Northern Lights. It was such a spectacular show for us and Pétur's place was the perfect location to view this. You get the panoramic view of the city and the northern lights through the floor to ceiling windows and the furniture made it so comfortable to see the view. The kitchen was great especially for home cooked meals. We will definitely look at staying here again. Wifi was great and Pétur always made an effort to contact us when we needed him. Try to get here during the day light as it may be difficult to find at night. All in all, 5 stars for us.

Charming and romantic,' Round' Cottage on the Santarella Estate in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. Formerly, the cottage was sculptor Henry Hudson Kitson's summer studio on the Santarella Estate. The two-story cottage has a charming bedroom with 35 foot high conical ceiling with canopied bed upstairs with views through massive, multi-paned "mill windows" to the trees and sky and out to the lily pond. The downstairs sitting room looks out on the babbling brook and lovely gardens.
Now open year-round! Charming, One Bedroom Cottage, former sculpting studio on the Santarella Estate in Tyringham, MA. Known as the "Silo Studio" Cottage. There is a bedroom with canopied queen bed upstairs and a sitting room with window bench-seat, coffee table, table and chairs, kitchenette area with wet bar with Micro/Fridge coffeemaker, toaster and bathroom with shower are downstairs. Fall asleep to sounds of the babbling brook and views to pond and forest from the large screened openings upstairs, like living in a "tree-house". Accommodates two only, fully furnished, all linens, towels included. There is Satellite DTV and Wireless Internet on site. The cottage is situated on four acres including lovely gardens, beautiful lily pond, running brooks and 2 acre woods. Absolutely unique, one-of-a-kind experience! Please Note, the cottage has traditionally been a three season rental from approximately March- November, however, due to much interest and demand, we have recently added a larger capacity pellet stove and made winterizing efforts and plan on keeping it open for guests interested in a winter experience in the cottage! Please keep in mind that access to our grounds may be limited with the accumulation of snow in winter months. During predicted extreme weather events, we will gladly work with guests to change reservations as we are always concerned for their comfort! Our lovely grounds are open to our guests. There are garden paths, babbling brook with stone bridges, loveliest of lily ponds, stone bench seating area with 'chiminea' and firewood for guest's use. There are two acres of woods with a loop trail as well. The town has an exceptionally beautiful Swimming Pond about 2 miles away which our guests may use. There are BBQs and picnic tables and it is often deserted. While we do have a pet friendly policy, prior approval and acceptance of our rules and policies is required before a pet may stay with you in our accommodations. There is also a $25.00 additional pet cleaning charge. The cottage is located on the Santarella Estate surrounded by gardens and storybook architecture. Santarella is located in the Tyringham Valley, tucked away 3.5 miles from Mass. I-90, a lovely and magical place where one feels like they have stepped back in time. This is definitely a place to 'get away from it all', enjoy quiet, rural surroundings close to the Appalachian Trail and Tyringham Cobble for hiking and many lovely ponds for swimming or kayaking. Vehicle is necessary. Grocery and other shopping at 3.5 miles.
Tyringham Valley was one of the original settlements in Western Massachusetts. It is mostly agricultural conserved land giving it a very rural, bucolic and idyllic character. The lovely 'Hop Brook' runs through the middle of the valley which is sparsely populated with mostly historic homes, making one feel like they have stepped back in time. An original, beautifully preserved Shaker settlement sits on top of the hillside opposite Santarella, overlooking it. At the far end of the valley, the gracious columns of the burned Ashintully mansion overlook the entire valley and are all that remain of the gilded-age estate which has beautiful preserved formal gardens, great to visit and hike. The Appalachian Trail is 2.25 miles from the cottage.
  • Beautiful place to spend our 10 year anniversary! Thank you Denise for your warm hospitality!

    Heather2016-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Staying here was such a unique and relaxing experience. Denise was incredibly welcoming and friendly when we arrived, and even surprised us with a bottle of champagne after we told her we were just married. Our only regret is not staying longer!

    Elyas2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • It was an absolute dream! It's exactly the kind of place my boyfriend and I needed to get away to. The place itself is gorgeous, the hiking trails were plentiful, and Denise and Dennis were so nice and informative. So romantic and quiet. We'll be back again.

  • My boyfriend and I stayed in the Silo House for a romantic weekend away and it was a wonderful experience from beginning to end! The bed is such a cozy nook, from the heated mattress pad to the soft fluffy pillows, I had to be dragged out of bed! Plus, the owner Denise is wonderful. She explained everything and answered all of our questions, gave us great restaurant recommendations and even a complimentary bottle of bubbly! Loved every second of our trip :)

    Alisha2016-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the silo studio was a wonderful experience. It's like taking a step into a storybook. The giant windows in the bedroom are absolutely amazing, you can actually stargaze from the bed on a clear night. The view onto the property is also beautiful and very peaceful. The property itself is very well maintained. Denise and Dennis were wonderful and caring hosts with great attention to detail. We hope to be back for a stay at the silo studio!

    Dennis2014-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Denise was lovely and the silo and surrounding areas were just perfect. Everything was as described in the listing. Would love to return. Recommended!

  • Our host made us feel very welcome and gave us a fabulous itinerary that guided our wonderful weekend. We loved the beer she poured for us at our arrival and her restaurant suggestions were perfect. The room is extraordinary. I don't think we've ever slept in such a magical space.

  • This place was so beautiful and quiet. Perfect for a romantic getaway. Denise responded promptly and was VERY accommodating.

Red cinder leads you through the dense jungle to your secluded bamboo treehouse. Nestled on top of stilts 15' up in the canopy of the local flora, ascend to your retreat via the trapdoor or begin your adventure in Volcano National Park 10 miles away.
Upon arrival, let the red cinder path be your yellow brick road as you are lead through the jungle to your personal paradise. At ground level you will encounter a hanging bed, suspended beneath the floor of your new living quarters. Stop and relax or continue up the staircase to the trapdoor. It is through this trapdoor that you are allowed access to the lanai amongst the canopy of trees. A beautiful wrap around lanai allows for a 360 degree view of the lush jungle, while two sliding glass doors grant access to the bedroom. Upon entering, you will notice that the generous windows and doors allow for natural sunlight to flood into the house, complementing the bamboo fixtures and vintage 1970s wallpaper that backs the bed. The white bed linens reflect the light giving a dreamy, cloud-like aura to the space. There is counter stocked with a local coffee and snacks nestled into a corner of the house and overlooked by the handcrafted porthole windows. Bamboo backed cubby holes and hangers furnish the wall behind you and create an elegant, minimalist closet space for you to store your personal items for the duration of your stay. Just past the closet is a sliding door that accesses one of the most fun areas of the house: the bathroom. The bathroom jalousie windows stretch from the floor to the ceiling and the horizontal glass plates open up, creating an indoor-outdoor effect. Naturally caught rainwater cascades from the large shower head above before disappearing into the floor boards below. You'll notice that the natural theme spills over into the bathroom with sustainable cork board backing the shower and air plants intermittently growing throughout. The toilet and hand-made rock sink in the corner make use of grey water eco-principles by allowing you to wash your hands with fresh water before it goes on to fill the bowl. One of the most fun aspects of this property is that it allows you the opportunity to experience true off-grid living without sacrificing any of the comforts of normal life. Natural lighting, solar power and rain water catchment are the three principles that have been integrated into this tree top design, making it almost like a living organism itself. The beauty of this high flying haven is in the details. I spent the better part of three months personally constructing the building as well as the accessories inside. My goal was to create a customized and secluded space for your occasion. The chandelier, hanging lights, port-hole windows, rock sink and platform bed were all DIY projects that I specifically created to enhance your experience. The bamboo pillars that 'support' the lanai and the moss carpet under the hanging bed were harvested from local areas on the Big Island. IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS BEFORE MAKING A RESERVATION Don't worry, the capital letters are just to emphasize importance. I'm not mad at you. But please read this entire section before making a reservation. As lush and inviting as the Dreamy Tropical Treehouse is, there are inevitable 'challenges' that come with staying in an off-grid treehouse in the Hawaiian jungle. My goal is give you an experience that combines adventure and luxury so I want to make sure that you are aware of the following things: 1. The treehouse is about 15-feet off the ground and is only accessible by the 'ladder-stairs'. 'Ladder-stairs' is just another way of saying 'very steep' stairs. There is a hand railing and none of my visitors have ever had a problem going up and down. There is a pulley system for hoisting up your bags. Only those who believe they are physically capable should book a stay. Just remember to go up and down facing them... like a ladder! 2. The running water comes from the rain falling on the roof and is not treated; therefore, the water is not potable. I will provide several bottles of drinking water. 3. The electricity you use is generated by sunlight and is stored in a battery. Once the battery runs out of power it has to recharge. This shouldn’t happen but just be mindful not to leave lights or power hungry items running for extended periods of time (No hairdryers). The windows allow for plenty of light during the day. 4. This is the rainy side of the Big Island so expect some showers! Realize that the pitter-patter on the roof is the rain's first stop on its journey to the water tanks and then to your shower. Also notice how warm it is. Don't think of rain as a trip ruiner but instead an asset to be enjoyed! 5. There are bugs but this isn't the Amazon. For such a tropical climate you will be surprised at how few bugs there are. The main things you will see are moths, fruit flies (due to fruit falling off of the trees) and mosquitoes. Bug repellent is provided but it never hurts to bring your own. They really don't get that bad but their presence increases after a hard rain and during the twilight hours. Luckily, the hanging bed has mosquito netting that drapes down to encompass it. 6. Noises. Living off-grid in the jungle also brings about its own set of noises. The water pump and solar inverter will make soft noises throughout the day as they are used. The falling fruit from the vivie trees can also be alarming if you don't know what it is, and at night you are going to be serenaded by the sweet chirping of coqui frogs. Rustling branches, grunts and squeals typically means that the cute family of wild pigs is nearby. They are harmless and will runoff as soon as they sense your presence. Quietly grab the binoculars and, if you are lucky, may catch a glimpse of them! All of these aspects are what makes this place so unique and, with the right mindset, only enhance your overall experience. Guests have free range to fully utilize every aspect of the house. The hanging bed, wrap-around porch, indoor-outdoor shower and closet are at your full disposal. I have recently installed a kitchenette that has a sink, cooler for storing food/drinks, and a coffee maker (also capable of heating up water). Any and all goodies stocked in the house are there for your enjoyment. Here is a more comprehensive list of amenities and features that will be available to you: •Indoor/Outdoor Shower •Toilet with Overlaid Sink •Organic Shampoo/Conditioner •Towels •Ample Parking •Tiki Torch ‘Flashlights’ •Hanging Bed •Table and Chairs for Lanai •Binoculars •Several Books •Outlets (3-prong and USB) •Kitchen Sink •Coffee Maker •Clean Linens •Gramophone Music Player for iPhones •Cooler for Food/Drink •Card Game Guest interaction can be tailored to your needs. My goal is to make sure your stay is unforgettable so you can always contact me via phone or email. Because I do not live on the island year round, a local neighbor can assist you if you have any problems that need tending to. Upon your arrival I can arrange to have someone greet you and show you the property or simply stow away the key for your convenience. The choice, of course, is yours. Even though I am not on site, I can always be reached. Feel free to call/text/email me at any time during your stay should the unlikely event that a problem arises. I will immediately contact the proper authority to have the problem remedied. The treehouse is located at the end of a neighborhood street making it very private. It is set about 50 yards off the street behind a windy, jungle path further adding to your privacy. There are only about five full time neighbors scattered throughout the neighborhood so don't expect to see a lot of people. The treehouse is about 20 miles from Hilo, 23 miles from Pahoa, 12 miles from Keaau and 8 miles from Volcano. Volcano is the closest place for laundry, good restaurants and groceries, though you will pay a little more for the groceries than in Hilo or Keaau. I recommend you stop on your way in from Hilo. When you book I will include a guidebook that has the locations, hours and prices of local restaurants and grocery stores. There is quick access to highway 11 and it is 10 miles from Volcanoes National Park. Numerous opportunities for sightseeing and adventures are within a 40 minute drive of this treehouse paradise and they will be included in my guest guidebook as well. This is the ultimate spot for couples seeking romantic seclusion in the middle of a tropical jungle or individuals who want to escape the world. Unless you feel like hitchhiking, you will definitely need a rental car to comfortably explore the surrounding areas and access the treehouse. While nothing is 'far' on the big island, everything is just a bit out of reach by foot... except of course for those lovely, yet dense, jungle strolls. • The dreamy tropical treehouse is so unreal and we had a unique magical experience there. It is a luxurious way of "camping" in Hawaii. The starry sky, sound of coqui frogs, showering open and naked in the middle of forest, climbing up and down the ladder, this place is truly special. The only complaints I have are 1) the shower being either too cold or too hot, 2) bugs (mosquitos, roaches, dust mites) since it IS the nature. I don't work well with bugs so it was challenging for me but my husband was totally fine. But overall, I love the experience, this house is a piece of Art.

  • We had a lovely time at the treehouse! We very much felt like we were in the middle of the jungle!! Volcano National Park was only 15 minute drive away, which was fabulous. Highly recommend this Airbnb!!!

  • Pictures are very accurate. The treehouse has a very indoor/ outdoor feel. King of like glamping. The shower was probably the best part, along with the big comfy bed. And of course, the surroundings. We couldn't get the coffee machine to work. That is our only complaint. Overall a unique and worthwhile experience.

  • We had a memorable stay at Kristie's treehouse. It was our first trial to stay in a treehouse and everything was built and equipped so conveniently that we felt like being in a regular house on ground. If you want to try to stay in tree house, this would be the best one. Also Kristie is a great host - she's very attentive and always one phone call away. We highly recommend to check her guide book (given in pdf format and hardcopy is in the house as well)- her recommendations are from local knowledge!

  • We stayed in the Dreamy Tropical Tree House during our honeymoon. It was the first time when we stayed in a tree house and although this house is not really built on a tree, it was a fantastic experience! We easily found our way around, it was very cozy and romantic! Kristie had taken good care of us by responding very quickly to our initial request and sending us a lot of useful information. What is very special about the Dreamy Tropical Tree House is all the love and energy the owner Kristie has put into creating this place, one can really feel it!

  • The listing was just as described and more. Fantastic place to stay on BI.

    Justin2015-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Most incredible! We had the best time here, everything was beautiful. We got to fall asleep to the sounds of rain and frogs every night. The shower was a bit tricky, but the open air view more than made up for it. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer.

*This cabin was featured in the New York Times in January, 2017. * A magical homesteader cabin embedded in 5 acres of unfenced Joshua Tree desert wilderness, 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. Experience peace, quiet, wildlife and STARS—on the grid but off the pavement.
If this cabin is booked on your dates, check out our other two cabins nearby ("Homestead Camp Cabin in Joshua Tree" and "Midcentury Prefab Homesteader Cabin") *** If you would like to use our cabin as a shooting location please get in touch to discuss our rates, otherwise we do not allow commercial or professional shooting of any kind (photo, video, film) during your stay. Thank you in advance! *** The restored cabin, which has been featured in the New York Times 'T' travel magazine, Wilder Quarterly, The Weekender and the book 'Jackrabbit Homestead,' was constructed in 1955 and still has its original green paint. Joshua Tree National Park is a 15 minute drive from the cabin. The Integratron and Giant Rock are also 15 minutes away. The cabin is less than two miles from artist Noah Purifoy's famous sculpture garden site. Two miles in the other direction is Dhamma Dena, teacher Ruth Denison's Vipassana Buddhist center. The always swinging Pappy & Harriet's BBQ and music roadhouse in beautiful Pioneertown is a 30-minute drive. The Lou Harrison House, which hosts occasional devotional, folk and avant garde music events in an intimate setting is less than 10 minutes away. We will be happy to give you directions to each of these unique places (and many others) that we frequent ourselves. The cabin sits on 5 acres, and feels remote, but it's just 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. You will travel a few miles on a secure, hard dirt road to get here. Enjoy the spectacular panoramic sunset and sunrise—as well as a blanket of stars. In the wintertime, you can build a fire too. Sleep comfortably in a queen-sized bed. The renovated interior has a cookware-outfitted kitchen and dining area. There is an outhouse with a dry toilet and roofless shower a few yards from the cabin. Wireless internet is available if you require a connection to the digital world. The cabin is equipped with air conditioning. The cabin is located next to BLM land and a wildlife corridor, which means you will witness these wild animals in their native habitat. The cottontail rabbits, cactus wrens, lizards, desert tortoises, jackrabbits, coyotes, owls and roadrunners (and more!) that make the desert their home make a visit to this serene cabin all the more special. Guests may have freshly prepared organic juices made by local juice cleanse guru Angela de la Agua delivered to the cabin. A menu/pricelist is available upon request. Please note that we have a TW0-NIGHT MINIMUM stay, and a THREE-NIGHT MINIMUM FOR HOLIDAY WEEKENDS. This requirement allows us to keep our rates low, so that the greatest number of folks get a chance to experience being here in the unfenced desert, under the Milky Way. We donate 2.5% of our proceeds to the Mojave Desert Land Trust, an excellent local non-profit organization devoted to protecting the Mojave Desert ecosystem and its scenic and cultural resource values.
  • We had an amazing trip and very much enjoyed our stay. The cabin was beautiful and amazingly quiet and peaceful. Jay was attentive to our needs and was a great host.

  • My sister and I LOVED staying here. The cabin was warm and cozy, Jay was super helpful and friendly, and the view...amazing. It's definitely a rustic place, but I would recommend it over and over (and plan to). Such a great weekend!

  • Jay was there when I arrived to show me around the property and explain how I might get the most enjoyment out of my stay. The cabin was beautiful and cozy even on a chilly December night, and Jay and Stephanie had even thoughtfully included a night sky map in the cabin's amenities so I could name the dazzling stars that were visible each evening (well, at least some of them!). This was the perfect place for solitude, reflection, and relaxation.

    Sarah2014-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing experience. The cabin is exactly as depicted, there are many thoughtful little touches and details, and it is the perfect backdrop/setting for relaxation, contemplation, quiet, and being in nature. Jay was very helpful and communicative, and we hope to visit again frequently. This was a special place for us.

  • Staying in Jay and Stepanie's cabin was like living in a vintage desert dream. We loved waking up with the sun, and seeing the brilliant stars at night. It felt like the cabin was worlds away, even though it was just minutes from downtown Joshua Tree and the national park. Jay and Stephanie were great hosts - they responded quickly to any questions we had, and they are great champions for keeping Joshua Tree peaceful and special.

    Rebecca2012-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our second visit and just as wonderful! A great place to get away and enjoy peacefulness and each other... Vic and Mary Jane

  • The Homesteader Cabin is a destination in itself! Jay was a great host and gave us some valuable info about the area. This is one of the most unique places we have ever stayed and we loved everything about the cabin. A magical desert experience! Don't miss it!

    Markie2013-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is amazing! My boyfriend and I wished we could have stayed here more than just one night. We loved the location. We had so much privacy because there was nobody around us (almost nobody)! The directions to get here were very thorough and easy. We enjoyed waking up and watching the sunrise over the desert. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you Stephanie and Jay for this amazing experience!

An ancient trullo surrounded by panoramic contryside , away from the noise. Just relax, time taken lying on the hammock or a dip in our cristalline sea and in the evening a great apulian dinner in nearby villages. simple and authentic things
Trullo aromativc green is a 300 year old building, with the traditional "trullo" cones of this region of Puglia. Trullo is situated on the west facing slope of a delightfully quiet valley with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside and ideal place for relaxing and is beautiful to explore on foot or by bicycle. The property has been designed to be beautiful, comfortable and environmentally friendly. Solar power is used for hot water and and waste water is re-used (please use the organic bodycare and cleaning products provided). In cooler months, heating and the woodburning stove will keep you warm. The trullo's traditional thick walls and high ceilings keep it cool in summer. And through the marvels of technology, a wifi connection is now available in this idyllic rural setting. The surrounding grounds are maintained organically. Set in four acres, Trullo aromatic green provides the space and tranquillity for real relaxation. Amongst the 110 olive trees are many almonds, walnuts, fig, cherries, apple, pear and mulberry trees, providing a garden banquet that guests can feast on. Produce from the land, including olive oil, is provided for your enjoyment at the property, and available to take home. At the front of the house is a large dining table under a shady gazebo. Nearby there is a barbecue . A large terrace is available to enjoy the landscape from a new perspective. Comfortably furnished, it's the perfect place for sundowners or digestifs. There is also an ancient aia where you just relax on a hammock. The kitchen inside is equipped to the standard that you would expect from this impressive property. I expect that you will dine outside most of the time, but if the weather turns, or you fancy a change, the intimate dining room will delight you. The living room provides ample space for everyone to relax. Enjoy the sound system - Bose iPod docking station and CD player - or watch a film on the Tv. A wood burning stove will warm the spirits in the cooler months. The bedrooms: there are one double bedroom and one can be configured as double or twins. They all have their own shower room and bathroom. Two miles away, in a small town called Casalini you can find everything you might need (delicatessen, supermarket, wine cellar, bar, newsagent, butcher, post office) Puglia and Trullo aromatic green will delight you throughout the year. Each season brings its own climate, festivals and produce. In April the days are warm, but Puglia is still quiet. So you would have a great time to explore the surrounding towns, markets and scenery. There are many festival processions over Easter. On May soft fruits such as cherries, mulberries and fiorone (early figs) are in abundance, markets are full of spring vegetables and the fields are full of wild flowers. This is a fantastic season. On June enjoy the countryside and the beaches before the crowds arrive. Days are pleasantly warm, and the nights clear. On July the real start of summer. Enjoy a day on the beach l, followed by a summer festa or concert. Famous classical concerts in nearby Martina Franca run from mid July to mid August. Finally on August explore the beaches and get plenty of rest during the day to ensure you are full of energy for the many festivals that take place throughout the region during summer. On September as the blazing heat of high summer subsides, enjoy pleasant days and some spill-over festivals such as the Jazz festival in Lecce, or buskers in Martina Franca. Places to Go Puglia offers a wealth of diversions; two coast lines, a vast number of hill towns each with their own characteristics, and always beautiful, rugged scenery with knarled olive trees, spring flowers, red soil and acres of vineyards. There will be plenty of information available to you on arrival (or booking, if you prefer) including recommendations and directions for your days out. Local Hill Towns Ceglie Messapica is just 10 kilometres from trulo aromatic green i, and provides all the amenties that you may need, including an attractive old town for your evening promenade. It is famed for its restaurants, including "Ricci's" - which has the accolade of being Antonio Carluccio's favourite restaurant in Southern Italy. Ostuni, just 07 km from Trullo aromatic greeni, is a fantastic hill town, with the centro storico revealing great bars and restaurants. The town has many facilities, and the market on Saturday morning provides everything you can imagine. Cisternino, just 6 kilometres, has its own character and charm, many free summer concerts and great restaurants. Alberobello is a must for anyone interested in the region's trulli buildings. It is a small town, consisting almost entirely of trulli. Although crowded with tourists in summer, it is worth a visit... and we can recommend some great local restaurants to complete your day. Martina Franca is the smartest town in the area. The Sunday evening passeggiata is a display to behold! The old town centre is a typical example of baroque art, with its white lanes, elegant mansions and stately churches and commune buildings.Beaches On this peninsula, you are never too far from the sea. The Adriatic sea is just 10 minutes from Trullo aromatic greeni, with family beaches and all facilities you need - including seafood and gelato! On the opposite coast, the Ionian, you will find stretches of open beach. Both coastlines offer large beaches and quiet coves, with beautiful clear blue water. Further south the shore becomes more rugged and dramatic. As well as a huge number of towns and beaches to visit, many other activities are available in the area Golf, Horse riding, Scuba diving and snorkeling, Kite-surfing, Cookery courses, pasta making, gourmet tours, Yoga (nearby classes or private lessons at Trullo aromatic green), Massage. We will, of course, be more than happy to help you plan and to make you reservations. Please note, some weeks we hold yoga holidays and gourmet tours for individuals or groups. For special occasions a local chef can come and cook for you. Nights There are many bars, restaurants and clubs to be discovered locally. Puglia is famous for its food, and there are many places to enjoy fabulous cuisine at excellent prices. In the summer there are many bars and clubs set up on the ne Nearby beaches, as well as a multitude of festas and concerts (many free) to make the most of the warm evenings.
  • We had a great Italian holiday lodging at Trullo aromatic green. Arriving later than expected on our first evening, Isa made us very welcome providing us with local cheese, bread, fruit and vegetables and helping us to settle in easily. We loved the house, suitated beautifully within olive, fruit trees and many other plants. It was spacious enough to accommodate our teenage son and his friend on one side of the hall way and me and my husband on the other side. The two bedrooms and bathrooms gave all of us some privacy and independence. We enjoyed exploring the local beaches and the two small towns of Cisternino and Ostuni. All of Isa's recommendations were accurate and let us find some excellent restaurants with delicious dishes. The only sad thing was that we had to leave after 10 days.

  • Isa is a very gracious and generous host who provided us with plenty of information on the surrounding area. The house is a fantastic place to spend a week relaxing. It has everything you need for a perfect stay. We loved the town of Cisternino, which is only a 10 minute drive from the house. For any vegans, we can recommend a little restaurant we came across in Cisternino called Romy and Jole. Thank you Isa for a wonderful stay!

  • We really had a magnificent stay at Isa's trullo. Isa is very warm and helpful, and at the same time respects the privacy of her guests. The trullo is very beautiful, clean and has everything you need for a comfortable stay (including sheets, towels, ...). The garden is also wonderful - we went for a walk in the very big garden several times, just perfect to end the day! In a 40 minutes drive by car there are lots of beautiful things to do and visit (beaches, going out for a walk, boat trips, cyties, going oot for diner, ...) Isa's ideas on things to do in Puglia (and in Napoli!) were very useful to us! Highly recommended!!

    Liesbet2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Isa's home. It felt like a real secluded retreat but close enough to lots of little gorgeous villages and beaches. The house has a beautiful interior which feels authentic and comfortable. The outdoor spaces were delightful. I spent a lot of time relaxing and reading on the day beds in the warm Puglian sun. Isa made us feel at home with her welcome treats and an amazing assortment of travel books of the region to peruse. Would highly recommend Isa's trullo home. Our best air BnB yet!

  • What a fantastic place to spend a relaxing vacation. Isa (our host) met us on arrival and departure, she was friendly, helpful and kind. The house design (trullo) is beautiful and interesting and the garden is fragrant and full of plant life. You'll love the hammock! I spent hours swinging back and forth while reading my book. In all, the place is perfect for relaxing and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to "get away from it all" (Goes without saying, you'll need a car to get around as the house is a couple of clicks out of town)

    Al2013-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Just home from a lovely break at Isa's Trullo. We had a wonderful time staying in this unique home. Isa went out of her way to make us welcome and we enjoyed the company of her cat and dog who popped over to check on us too. This really is a lovely place to get away from it all and also a great base from which to tour the very special area. Isa recommended lovely places to visit and also to eat, at the expense of our waistbands. Everywhere we went we were made welcome and there was always someone willing to help if we struggled with the descriptions in Italian. I can thoroughly recommend that you pay this lovely place a visit, it will be well worth your while. My husband and I love to explore a new area, which we did , after a breakfast in the lovely garden. Of an evening we were keen to get back to Aromatic Green to relax and plan the next day. If you are looking for something different You could not go wrong by choosing too stay at Aromatic green with Isa.

  • Over the last 4 years since we moved to England, we've stayed in over 20 AirBnbs in 7 countries and Isa's beautiful home including the unparalleled hospitality and phenomenal destination provided our best experience yet! Stop looking and just book Trullo now. The home and grounds are stunning and extremely comfortable. The bed and shower were also fantastic. Isa even left us cherries from the garden, tomatoes from a friend's garden, olive oil from the property, a bottle of wine, yogurt and other snacks in addition to her kitchen being very well stocked. She also went above and beyond what's been provided at any other Airbnb by arranging several wonderful activities for us during our stay. Isa arranged an olive oil tour at a local masseria, a couples massage at the house and one of the single best days of my life taking a cooking class at Giardini 36 in nearby Cisternino. The private class was led by the amazing chef Katia and her mother and was translated by a lovely American. We learned how to make two kinds of pasta, sauce, focaccia and a ricotta dessert. When we were finished, we all enjoyed a phenomenal meal together. We truly felt like part of the family. Don't miss this incredible experience if you stay here. I will remember this place for the rest of my life and I hope to be able to return some day.

  • This is probably the most unique place I have ever stayed at. I loved it! Alexis and Lotte are the perfect hosts, and the location is perfect for your visit to the Loire Valley.

    Jean2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Due to the fact that our car broke down, we could not spend the night at Alexis and Lotte's. Still, Alexis invited us over the next day and offered us the opportunity to visit the beautiful cavehouse. Along with a glass of wine the stories of passion and dreams about the region and its habits. We would definitely recommend a stay at Alexis and Lottes troglodyte. Thanks for sharing, Alexis!

  • Alex & Lotte really made us feel welcome and comfortable in their unique cave home! They accommodated us and let us drop off our heavy luggages early in the morning even though it wasn't check-in time yet. The first evening they served us with local white wine and tea while we chatted about life in France vs. the US (where we are from). I really enjoyed that! They also prepared delicious breakfast for us every morning. All in all, I would definitely recommend their cozy home to anyone! Thanks again for your hospitality!

    Manon2017-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Alexis and Lotte are the most beautiful couple providing such a warm welcome you feel as if you are greeting old friends. The photos of the cave a few years ago - no electrics, plumbing etc. - bear little resemblance to the place today. The cave has been lovingly renovated and decorated tastefully. They have managed to make a gorgeous home whilst still maintaining all the unique and quirky characteristics of a troglodyte dwelling. We loved sleeping in a cave and, although not originally on our list of "things to do before you die", the experience of bathing by candlelight in a cave is so amazing that it should be up there, along with swimming with dolphins, on everybody's "bucket list". Amboise Troglodyte is located just outside Amboise, in the lovely village of Nazelles-Negron. The village is picturesque and quiet with good amenities. There is a grocery, boulangerie, pharmacy, bar/restaurant, hairdresser and a very good children's play area. We were genuinely sorry to move on from Alexis and Lotte and sincerely hope to return in the future.

    Rowan2016-08-09T00:00:00Z

Hector Cave House, carved into the unique caldera cliff for more than 250 years, was originally used as a wine cellar. Then it became a family owned complex of three different properties that opened its doors to share its unique character to travelers from around the world. The three different properties are: The Hector Cave House The Hector Luxury Cave The Hector Caldera Nest
The Hector Cave House, carved into the unique caldera cliff for more than 250 years, was originally used as a wine cellar (“the canava”). The traditional “canava” became a family owned summer house, which then opened its doors to share its unique character to travelers from around the world. Within walking distance, visitors can reach all the highlights of Oia and wonder around picturesque shops, cozy restaurants and romantic caldera-view cafes. Also, the complex lies a few steps from the old castle and the best viewing spot for the famous Oia sunset. Although close to local activity, the Hector Cave House provides peacefulness and privacy.
  • We had the most amazing stay at the Cave House. It is truly wonderful! The location is absolutely perfect to enjoy your time in Oia. It is centrally located and close to everything you could need, but as soon as you enter the gate and climb the steps, you have complete privacy and quiet. The house itself is beautiful and unique, with high ceilings and plenty of space. It is well stocked with everything you might need to be comfortable, and it is very clean and well-maintained. The two private terraces are ideal for enjoying the sunshine or watching the sunset and the views are amazing. Giannis is an outstanding host, and he went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. He was very attentive and helpful with everything from recommending restaurants and activities to arranging rides to and from the airport for us. If there is anything you need, just ask and Giannis will be able to help you! My family and I had an amazing time in Oia and loved staying in the Cave House. I highly recommend it to anyone planning to visit Santorini. You will love it! My only problem is that we couldn't stay longer!

    Scott and Stephanie2014-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • Worth every penny. Amazing views, gorgeous house and more than enough space for two guests--would even be very comfortable for 4 people. We loved staying in the old part of Oia right in the middle of the action. From the outdoor private hot tub to the superb amenities and gifts, we couldn't have asked for a better stay.

    Jessica2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Giannis, Dana, and Dimitris were fantastic hosts! From helping us find a spot to park our car, to carrying our (very heavy) luggage up to our room, to sitting with us for 15 minutes to show us a map and point out recommendations for restaurants, things to do, etc. The room is beautiful with an incredible view, and extremely clean. Dana and Dimitris came by every day to clean the room *and* the pool! Excellent, fast communication as well. We felt so at home and comfortable, and highly recommend staying at Hector Cave House. Other Airbnb hosts should take notes! ;)

    Kelly2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Giannis is an exceptional host & an exceptional person. His apartment is a reflection of him. Exceptional! Situated in the centre of Oia with your own swimming pool, just perfect for visiting this beautiful village. Everything was perfect, it is even better than a 5 star hotel as it is private. Giannis has great taste and the apartment is renovated with high quality material. We are a family of 4 with 2 children and we couldn't recommend it more. Giannis helped us plan our trip, was always available and bent over backwards for us when our boat transfer was cancelled.

    Zoë2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • I echo the rest of the reviews you see here - everything about Giannis and the Hector Cave House was exceptional! I would not hesitate to book it again, and would advise anyone seeking accommodations in Santorini to look no further - this is absolutely the place to stay in Oia to maximize your experience! About Giannis - Giannis is an incredible host who stands out in terms of the thoughtfulness in his hospitality. Before our arrival he was in constant communication, and sent us an extremely detailed list of Santorini attractions, beaches, restaurants, and useful local contact information that helped us plan our daily itinerary for Santorini. For our arrival by ferry, Giannis arranged a transfer van to pick us up at the Fira port and take us directly to Oia. The driver was waiting for us at the port holding a sign with our names, it couldn't have been easier. When we arrived in Oia, Giannis was waiting to meet us with a porter, who saved us the trouble of having to lug our baggage through the town streets, again, easy. When we arrived at the house, Giannis presented us with a bouquet of flowers, a chilled bottle of Assyrtiko wine, and a freshly baked cake - you get the picture. Giannis gave us a warm personal introduction to the house, went over all of the amenities to use, sat us down with a map and went thoroughly took us through all of the attractions we might enjoy. About the Hector Cave House - Location - you are in the nicest part of Oia town, just steps away from the Byzantine Castle, and directly above Ammoudi Bay. The view looks like a postcard, down below you have quick access to restaurants and shops on foot. When we went in early August, we did not have direct view of the sunset from the balcony, but it was viewable just a few steps from the house. If you rent a car, you will be able find parking within 5 minutes walking distance from the house. The neighborhood is touristic with heavy foot traffic down below (especially during sunset viewing hours), but the cave house sits above the pedestrian path on a private tier, it is well separated from the crowds below. You will have great views of the caldera bay from the patio. In terms of location, it really doesn't get much better or more convenient in Oia. The house itself - I would say the photos don't quite do the space proper justice, it is actually much roomier than you might perceive from the listing photos. Giannis has all the kitchen amenities, Nespresso machine, fridge stocked with bottled water and juices daily, etc. The space is clean, stylish and functional. The lofted bed is large and comfortable. There are two nice showers, with good water pressure. The flat is cleaned daily and kept well-maintained by Alexandra, who was very sweet and accommodating as well. Overall this is really a...

  • If you are considering this property just book it right now! It was the best experience we have ever had both for hotels and AirBNB!!! Giannis was quick to respond to all our messages and the couple that looks after the house was very helpful with recommendations on what we should do, restaurants and beaches we would like. They also came to make the bed, refresh the towels and empty garbage during the day while we were our which made it feel like a hotel. They also leave you the sweetest little gift as the end of your stay! Giannis works really hard to make your stay special and absolutely nothing beats the view you have from the patio. The only thing was the power went out on our last night here but Giannis said this occasionally happens and it came back on after a couple hours.

Torneremo sicuramente !

  • Hector Cave house was fantastic! The view from both balcony's was breathtaking and inside the cave was cosy, comfortable, traditional and very clean. Giannis provided us with excellent information about Santorini, restaurants and the history of the cave house and always made himself available. The cave house is perfectly located and everything in Oia is within close walking distance. Highly recommend this accommodation!

The cabin is located in a quiet family neighborhood so PLEASE respect our neighbors' peace and quiet and keep the noise down after 10PM. Also, no parties or groups exceeding 8 are allowed and may even result in immediate eviction and/or loss of deposit.

  • We had a great time at Ryan&Darnie's chalet! It's quite, clean and comfortable. We would highly recommend it for families and groups.

  • Ryan and Darnie have a great place in South Lake Tahoe and a nice and quite location. We really enjoyed our stay.

    Bill2018-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • It was great! Ryan and Darnie were great and very responsive. I will definitely stay here again!

  • We had a wonderful stay during a family ski trip to South Lake. Great location to get to Heavenly, stores and restaurants and the house was cozy and well-equipped. Perfect for apres-ski relaxing and family dinners. Ryan and Darnie were communicative and responsive. Highly recommend and hope to return!

    Anne2017-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • This place is simply fantastic! We spent a great weekend at Ryan's and Darnie's house which is super cozy, tastefully decorated, and very clean. Communication with the hosts was effortless. The cabin is located in a quiet neighborhood and is just a short ride away from the lake itself. We (4 adults and 3 kids) can definitely recommend the "Lake Tahoe Chalet" and would love to go there again.

    Nina2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at the Chalet. We were six friends staying for two winter nights, and we didn't feel crowded at all. The central heater works well for heating the house and drying wet socks, and additional space-heaters in the bedrooms kept us at perfect temperatures. The full kitchen allowed us to cook several meals together, and the location is great for long walks, snow-covered adventures, or driving to our Tahoe destinations. It's a beautiful, bright home, with every detail of the decor thought through. We didn't want to leave!

    Odalis2017-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • The Chalet lived up to its expectations. Ryan has done a great job with the decore, and you feel like you're in some cabin in the woods, but with all the modern amenities you could ask for. The rooms and beds are spacious and comfortable, and the bathrooms well-stocked with towels and hot water. It even comes with a (Hidden by Airbnb) Chromecast hookup with the TV. The only downside was that the bbq grill outside was out of propane, and we ended up having to do our grilling indoors. Thankfully, the stove is pretty new, and there are plenty of pots/pans, dinnerware, and silverware in the kitchen to make it a pleasant cooking experience.

Recomendamos!

  • We had a wonderful time in this private Riad house. The atmosphere, decor and furnishings gave an authentic traditional feel but almost everything provided was good quality and well maintained. The kitchen is large and well-equipped; more than enough crockery, cutlery, glasses etc. is provided. We loved the rooftop terrace which is spacious yet secluded, with shade and loads of day-beds to relax and lounge around. We ate a simple lunch up there on several days. The main Suite bedroom is (we get the impression) exceptionally large for a Riad house of this type. One comment. We found the bed to be much too firm for our liking, but we solved this by using the 'toppers' from the downstairs sofas as extra padding and then all was OK. We felt quite safe in the streets and alleys around the Riad. Compared to some parts of Marrakesh there is little pressure to buy or unwanted hassle on the street. However, if you walk east, beyond Rue Mouassine and into the Souks, prepare to be pestered by vendors and impromptu offers from men who offer to be your 'Guide'. By contrast, walking west past the Palais dar el Bacha into Rue de Bab Doukkala ( called Route Sidi Abdelaziz on (Hidden by Airbnb) maps and not to be confused with Rue Sid Abd El Aziz ! ) you'll find a huge array of small stalls and shops and traders where you will feel comfortable amongst local people going about their business. You can buy meat, fish, fruit vegetables, household goods, chickens, spices and almost anything you could ever need! We found it fascinating. Sabah the housekeeper was delightful. She met us as arranged and welcomed us to the house. Then she came every morning (except one, as expected) and busied herself conscientiously with preparing food, clearing, cleaning and tidying. If, like us, you are unused to having staff around during the day you may find it takes a little getting used to but this is no criticism at all of Sabah. She was warm, discreet and flexible. Something else we struggled to get used to, and this is no criticism of this house as it would apply equally throughout the city: expect to hear the amplified Call to Prayer from several nearby mosques starting as early as 4:30 am. All communication with Françoise was prompt, efficient, helpful and accurate. She will also give you recommendations of places to eat locally and other helpful advice. The transport she arranged to collect us at the airport and for a day trip we took into the Atlas Mountains was all excellent. In summary: highly recommended (Website hidden by Airbnb)

    Brian2016-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • The taxi driver welcomed us in the airport and drove to the house when we met the awesomest housekeeper who made delicious breakfast and advised on many local things. The house is super clean and super spacious for three people. We could only regret not spending so much time there. We could switch on the heating to make our stay super comfortable in the evening. The location is brilliant – you can make yourself get lost in the souk for fun or take the easiest way to the streets around. Fairly short way to the station or supermarket. We’d definitely come back there.

    Ewa2014-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in Dar Ahwach for 1 week during July/August. The riad is a real peaceful escape from the busy and bustling streets of Marrakech - the sun terrace is beautiful and the air conditioning was much appreciated in the bedrooms. Sabah made us feel very welcome and her breakfasts were excellent. I would also recommend ordering an evening meal in the riad - her chicken tagine was my favorite meal of the trip. The location in Dar El Bacha was also perfect and was relaxed with some nice nightspots/restaurants close by - but only a short walk to the busy 'square' and souks. I would certainly stay at this riad again if staying in Marrakech.

    Ross2015-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • I have just returned from a stay at Dar Awach for my birthday. Francoise was in contact prior to our arrival, and was very patient with organising the airport pick up seeing as my flights kept changing! My boyfriend and I couldn't believe that we had the whole beautiful Riad to ourselves! We took advantage of the sun terrace and the pool, and luxuriated in our little haven away from the madness of the Medina. Dar Awach is perfectly located; close to the square and the souks, and close to a few nice restaurants; you just have to get used to the maze that is the Medina; we got lost a lot on the first 2 days! Sabah was so lovely and helpful, and made our lovely stay even better for us. She was kind and attentive, and even gave me a little birthday present which was so sweet! One of the best meals we ate in Marrakech was the one that Sabah prepared for us, in fact it was the best chicken tagine I have ever had; I had to ask Sabah for her recipe. We didn't actually book any trips in the end, as we loved the Riad so much, and just enjoyed relaxing there in the middle of the day when the sun was strong, in between trips to the souks and the city's other attractions. Sabah also booked a brilliant Hammam and massage for us, which I would recommend to everyone! I would definitely recommend this Riad for anyone who wants peace and quiet and their own space in beautiful, tranquil surroundings in one of the most busy parts of the city. If I come back, I will definitely be booking into Dar Awach again, and will look forward to seeing Sabah again, as she just made our trip so special.

This bamboo cottage is a secluded eco retreat down a quiet foot path nestled in the rice fields and only a five minute walk to central Ubud. Open air basket weave bedroom with mini loft, modern elegant bathroom and outdoor living area make this a truly unique Bali experience.
This is a woven house made almost entirely of bamboo. It is open air and as close to living in nature as you get. Our main lodge is down a private foot path only accessible to cottage guests. if you choose to join us for dinner, a swim or for socializing with other guests you are welcome to enjoy this common space with a saltwater pool and a swing. :)
This is a hidden spot literally just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Ubud with its restaurants and shops, but it feels lost in time and like a total retreat. In the day you will only meet rice farmers and local women blessing the rice. At night you will only see fireflies and hear the rushing river, crickets and the distant sounds of the temple. An evening massage is a great way to end the day at sunset on the terrace. We have an in house masseuse who is available by appointment.

  • Such a beautifully serene place to relax in! Me and my girlfriend came here to get away from the city to somewhere rustic, and that is exactly what we got. Set in the rice fields with not much more that a bamboo woven wall separating you, you can hear all the countryside sounds! Not for the faint hearted though, as you do get wild life coming into the hut. We found a snake and a couple of lizards in the bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful! Definitely recommend this to any nature lovers and anyone wanting something different and rustic to get away from the everyday hustle and bustle!

  • This place is heaven! It's even better than in the pics! If you are looking for a quiet (apart from ducks, frogs and nature sounds) - this is the place you should go! The guys are so lovely, helpful and nice! They organized a scooter for us which you can park directly in the rice field only 10 meters from the cottage. The walk to the city center is about 15mins, so the scooter was really handy. I definitely recommend this place!

  • The Bamboo eco cottage was great! Wayan and all the staff were really kind and helpful. They were able to have our laundry done, and Wayan even helped us walk though the rice fields to find a restaurant! The view is even more beautiful in person. Be prepared for a few minute walk off the main road (this place is not suitable for anyone with mobility concerns).

  • Our stay at the Bamboo Eco Cottage was amazing!! Everything was totally clean and the staff is absolutely friendly and they did everything to make our stay unforgettable. Additionally Rainy and Wayan are very friendly and it was great how they help us to organise our trips in and around Ubud. The breakfast in the middle of a rice field is amazing as well as the dinner we have ordered at one evening. The pictures show perfectly how wonderful the cute house is!! We loved it from the first view. Besides we were positivly suprised how less insects and mosquitos have been there even in the evening. All in all it was an unforgetable stay in an amazing ambience with loveley hosts! Thanks for the amazing stay and we will definitely come bak!

  • Our stay at the bamboo cottage was an opportunity to reconnect with nature. There were no doors, no air conditioning (a challenge itself in the sweltering heat of Ubud!) and the noises we heard were largely the calls of insects and geckos. The bathroom was open air and looked out into the open sky. The cottage was just as stated, a return to basics but with some basic technological support. Star gazing was a great experience. We watched fireflies dance and my buddy swears that she spotted a civet! Unfortunately, on our first day, the provided phone and wifi connection had run out of credit leaving us out of touch with the support staff and generally everything else. With no fresh water provided in the cottage, we traipsed to the main house only to be sent away like naughty children due to an 'event' that was taking place. If you drink a lot of water like we do, this was an issue. The laid back nature of Bali usually meant that requests are followed up on 20 to 30 minutes later. We had no choice but to wait for water deliveries. So ask for more water whenever you can. The cottage was also on the 'main road' which meant that every guest at the main house would go past the front door when they return at night. Sometimes they would shine their powerful LED flashlights right into the cottage. An annoying but unavoidable occurrence. The portions for the daily breakfast were also a little small. Standard fare included 2 eggs and bread with coffee or tea. Because we were doing yoga and walking out the city centre, we got pretty hungry. We usually had to 'top up' on our meal outside. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the bamboo cottage. Wayan and rest of the support staff were friendly and did their best to make our stay a lovely one. If I could make any suggestions, it would be to check wifi and phone connections before the arrival of each guest and have drinking water available in the cottage itself.

  • We were made to feel most welcome by Rainy and the staff. We were greeted at the driveway by the staff who helped us with our bags. Rainy greeted us at the treehouse and assured us we could use the phone at anytime to call her for advice or help organising activities. The treehouse is amazing! Beautifully set amongst the rice fields. Its airy and has a cool breeze in the afternoon to help cool you down. Its quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud, but only 3-5 minute bike ride into town. Breakfast is included in the price and we were so impressed with our meals...banana crepes, Balinese style french toast and savory crepes -prepared beautifully and so tasty. Coffee came before breakfast which you can enjoy out on the porch overlooking the rice fields and workers. Rainy happily organised a motobike for the duration of our stay, rafting and our airport transfer. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, they even organised some ice for us for our beers. Our whole stay was relaxing! Its incredible to be amongst the rice fields and enjoy some quiet time. The treehouse isnt super private. There are workers who walk past the treehouse entrance, but they generally kept to themselves; at most they would say a passing 'hi' and keep on their way. We never felt unsafe or felt that our belongings were in danger. The treehouse is very open, but we liked this as it kept the place cool. The sounds of the insects, gekos and temple are beautiful to hear of a night and are quite relaxing. Although we did use ear plugs a few nights to help us sleep. Rainy also happily supplied us with a fan for the evening as one night it was particularly humid. We absolutley recommend this place. Everything was taken care of and it was a beautiful oasis to finish our holiday in (Website hidden by Airbnb)

  • The home is beautiful in a quaint location on a hillside overlooking Akureyri. However, our visit was tarnished by troubles with the hot tub upon arrival. We chose this home so we could enjoy the Northern Lights from the hot tub. We were disappointed upon arrival to find that the hot tub did not work in the snowstorm that had arrived along with us. We spent an hour outside in the cold trying to get it work before calling the owner who told us it was too cold for the tub to function properly. Upon my request, the owner did arrange to have a plumber look at the hot tub the second day but it was not able to be fixed. However, we were able to watch the Northern Lights from inside from the windows. Otherwise, everything with the home was as-advertised and we enjoyed the rest of our stay regardless.

  • We came up to Akureyi for a few days to relax after Airwaves and this place was perfect - the view and the house itself is amazing. I'd definitely recommend staying here if you're traveling through the area.

  • What an amazing place! We loved our stay at Gunnar's place and wish we could have stayed for longer! Not many hosts send spare keys to you via plane (from Reykjavik to Akureyri) within an afternoon! Perfect experience

  • Gunnar was very friendly and helpful when we contacted him. House is in an amazing private location about 7 min drive out of Akureyri. The views across the fjord to Akureyri were breathtaking. All the beds were very comfortable. Unfortunately the hot tub was not operational during our stay due to the cold weather (-7 deg Celcius). We were however very close to many winter time activities. I'd strongly recommend the Myvatn Nature Baths which was a little over 1 hours drive for anyone visiting the area for the first time. Thanks again.

This spacious, unparalleled cave house, hanging on the cliffs of the caldera in the center of Oia, is part of a traditional complex of cave houses, owned & renovated by a family of architects.
Crowning a unique complex of cave houses which used to serve as the old bakery of the settlement, and just a moment from the main pedestrian street of Oia, lays the remarkable cave house of sculptural aesthetics. Originally renovated for personal use by local craftsmen, the house perfectly combines traditional style with comfort. The plasticity of its forms, the use of local techniques, the built in beds and the selection of antique furniture together with the modern amenities, strike the right balance between sophistication and coziness. The cave house has two private bedrooms one of which was actually the old cistern, now transformed into a cocoon, cave room. This couples' nest, is five organic-formed steps sideways and below the main level of the house, with an emperor size (200 x 200 cm) built in bed and vintage wooden furniture. The original path that was naturally created by the cliff structure, connecting the two caves which form this house, leads to the master bedroom, on the other side of the house, maintaining the original architectural plan. With a private entrance, two windows and a door that separates it from the rest of the house, this bright and spacious bed room comfortably fits an oak queen size bed (160 x 200 cm), a large desk with a chair, an antique bookcase and a handcrafted mirror. Both bedrooms are equipped with high quality latex mattresses. In the commodious, off-white living room, a warm and relaxing corner has been created by the two large built in sofa beds (easily accommodating two for sleep) and the square beech wood coffee table. On the side, a solid, oak wood dining table is surrounded be a wooden and a built in bench, comfortably sitting a company of six for a luscious meal, right next to the fully equipped kitchen. There, an oven, ceramic hot plates, refrigerator, coffee machine, electric kettle, toaster and cutlery ensure your stay will be as convenient as possible. The bathroom, deeply curved in the cave, with off white local stucco technique and marble from Crete, has a handcrafted marble wash basin and rain shower. Outdoors, the private terraces expand on different levels literally on the rim of the caldera, creating unique angles and comfortable sitting spaces. You have travelled miles in order to come here; this is the time that you can finally dip in the white washed, semi cave whirlpool. Grasp the serenity and beauty of the sensational, unobstructed view of the volcano. The caldera, the sea and the sky which will undoubtedly leave you breathless. Enjoy!
Oia is the most picturesque coastal town on the northwestern tip of Santorini. The town has whitewashed houses carved into the rugged clifftops, and overlooks a vast caldera filled with water.
  • This is the best place ever! It's located right in the middle of Oia amongst all the restaurants and shops. The view from the house is breathtaking. Laskarina was such a great host and helped us with transfer and tips around the island. The house is flawless. We really had a great time here. Do yourself a favour and stay here!

  • First the apartment is really quite a unique experience. Laskarina has done an amazing job of making the apartment cozy and chic. I loved the experience Laskarina was also super helpful in arranging transportation to and from the port/airport. She even arranged for a porter to come help with luggage. She had water in the fridge and fruit and coffee. It was a great place for a santorini stop over. There was only one tiny draw back. The apartment is right next to a restaurant so you have restaurant noise until about 11pm. But it ends pretty early.

    Michelle2016-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Laskarina and Johns wonderful cavehouse was absolutely perfect. The apartment was even better than the pictures and both the inside and the outside area were kept clean at all times by the lovely Anna. The absolute best part of this house is the spectacular view over the caldera. Waking up to this every morning felt almost surreal. Laskarina and John were so kind and helpful. They arranged for the transport from the airport and answered every question we had along the way. There were fruit, wine and water waiting for us in the apartment, which we enjoyed very much. We also got a useful guide from Laskarina about where to go and what to see. Extraordinary service. I highly recommend staying here, you will not regret it!

  • Unique Architecture is indeed a most beautiful home. I agree with all the previous reviews. If you want somewhere special to stay with one of the most spectacular views in the world and with three balconies to enjoy it from then don't look any further. Laskarina and John are efficient, helpful and friendly hosts and all dealings with them were handled quickly and efficiently.

    Phillip2013-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • The whole experience was wonderful. The apartment was gorgeous, breathtaking view, very clean and tidy and perfect location. Laskarina was excellent at providing information and recommendations for everything in Oia and beyond. Her husband helped us with our luggage and Anna helped with our washing. Couldn't have wanted anything more from an apartment in Santorini. Wish we had longer. Thanks so much for your hospitality. Highly recommend.

    Hayley2015-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Laskarins's was exactly as pictured. The view was spectacular and we enjoyed eating our meals outside every day. Laskarina arranged for the porter to carry our luggage down and Anna, the very sweet housekeeper , was waiting for us. We appreciated having water, wine and some fruit as a welcome...and coffee to get me started the next morning. There laundry facilities on the property and Anna volunteered to do a couple of loads of wash for us as she saw we were a little challanged by then steps in the beginning. We rode the local bus all over the island to historical sites and some nice beaches. We walked to a local swimming pool with cafe/bar which we enjoyed as well. Everyone in Oia was very friendly and helpful. Great stay! Thank you Laskarina.

    Jill2015-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say enough about the Laskarina's beautiful home. This gem is in a prime location and the views are breathtaking. Laskarina and her husband are amazing hosts and I look forward to going back to their home!

    Yvette2016-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • I should write this esrlier, but busy in filing the beautiful photos i took in front of Laskarina's amazing cave house. It's hard to describe how great the experiences were to stay there simply by a few words. If i could, i'd rather show you photos with everything everyday we saw during the stay. Besides the breathtaking view and convenient location (really just a few steps away from the main street), both John and Laskarina are so nice and helping. Highly recommend travellers in santorini to spend vacation there in this cozy cave house.

FREE: Fiber Optic Internet Connection! 1 bedroom apartment with a king size bed, bathroom, a kitchen and dining/living area with a pull out sofa. It has a direct access from the bedroom to the pool which is shared with only 2 more apartments. White Pool Villa with only 3 apartments is located on the road from Rawai beach to the Phromptep Cape, the most southern tip of Phuket, known for its romantic and spectacular sunsets. The apartments share private pool, so there is no crowd and enough privacy for everyone. Each apartment has its own private terrace. The villa has a large garden (1000 sqm) with trees and palms. Set in beautiful hillside grounds bursting with tastefully nurtured vegetation with a back-to-Nature feel. Yet, it is only a few minutes away from the famous Rawai and Nai Harn beach. Amenities and service: - FREE: Fiber Optic Internet Connection! -Air Condition -Celling Fans -LCD TV, cable TV -Safe box in each apartment -Free WiFi (Fiber Optic Internet: 24.45Mbps download spead, 3.48 Mbps upload speed) -Free Parking -Towels and bed linen are provided -Cleaning 1 x per week or as agreed Phuket Airport Distance: 1:30 h, depending on the traffic Phuket Town: 30 minutes We do hope that you will enjoy your stay in our apartment!
For swimming try nearby beaches such as little, cute Ya Nui and Nai Harn Beach. Nai Harn Beach is often overlooked compared to other west coast beaches getting a lot more attention. But many frequent visitors to Nai Harn will tell you that they love the beach for its peaceful and unspoiled character. Its location is not far for all the action and fun nightlife spots such as Patong which is just 20 minutes away. Rawai Beach is not an ideal place to swim, but it has a charming and natural feel. There are no jetskies, banana boats or any of the trappings of a west coast beach; this is Thai beach life. Here you will find many good and inexpensive restaurants, markets, ATMs, taxi stands, etc.

  • Amazing experience that exceeded my expectations.

  • Very nice villa. It has all you need inside. The neighbour was very calm and safe. Mr.Zokson helped us with the taxi (to pick us up from the airport and vice versa) he also provided us with scooter so we could move around because the villa is a little bit far (15mins walk) from the restaurants and bars. There is no beach around the rawai area but with 10-15mins in scooter you can visit different beaches such as Nai Han (very nice). Mr. Manol (the administrator) was very kind and beside taking care of the villa (the pool and the garden) he also suggested us places to visit nearby. Overall very clean and calm villa. P.s. keep in mind that the pool is a share pool with the other 2 appartments that has the villa (as in photo).

  • It was an enchantment ! So beautiful, even more than on the photos, it's incredible but true. Very clean, very quiet place, a wonderful architecture. Each morning the smile of Mr Manoch was the guarantee for another perfect day. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. You were so kind, welcoming and friendly, we recommend highly the white villa and its nice hosts. Hope to see you soon !

  • Great place. Relaxed. The place really looks like the pics on the website. Mr Manot is a local who can help you with some things (e.g. getting a scooter or arranging a taxi). Scooter is handy (you could walk but quite some dogs in the evening in the neighbourhood - but that's everywhere in Thailand). Nice swimming pool. Recommended.

  • Great place. Very modern and clean!! We had a blast ! Thank you ;)

    Whitney2014-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • We spent z few days in this apartment and it was perfect. We had everything we needed. We had a motorbike and reach shops and food market on Rawai beach in less than 5 minutes. We even drove to Kata beach. The villa is beautiful, clean and well maintained and it has only 3 apartments , so quite often we were alone and have the house and the pool just for ourselves! The garden and the pool are amazing. There are papayas and bananas growing in the garden and we could take as much as we like. Mr. Manot is a real star with his smile and positive energy. He speaks good English which is not usual for Thai people and takes good care of the villa and the guests. He arranged motorbikes for us at a very competitive price and also a trip to the Coral island for a very good price. If we needed anything, Mr. Manot was there to answer all our questions and helped us. We felt very at home and safe in the villa and we will definitely return.
