Qué harás

You’ll spend a day in the life of our organization and its participants, including Cuban youths, skateboarders and artists. We’ll start at the wood shop, where we'll enjoy coffee and fresh fruit, while we recycle skateboard decks and show you the process to assemble coping blocks for our DIY skatepark. We’ll then take off for Paseo del Prado or our DIY skatepark in Marianao -- up to you! We can stop for lunch or drinks in the neighborhood and continue on to check out local cuisine, skate spots, and a friend's art gallery along Paseo del Prado.
Otros aspectos destacables
Please feel free to bring your own camera. Also, bring sunscreen and bottled water. We ask our guests to help deliver skate gear around the island, which we will provide.

I’m the co-founder and Executive Director of Cuba Skate, Inc. I fell in love with Cuba after studying abroad in Havana during my senior year of college, and since then I've been back many times to work with the organization and lead cultural exchanges with pro skaters and university students. Every time I go back I am more motivated by our Cuban family.

Dónde irás

We’ll be in Nuevo Vedado, a beautiful residential enclave next to Vedado, the primary downtown neighborhood of the city. There's a nice balance of museums, colonial mansions, and wonderful street cuisine. Marianao is just outside of Havana, where we are building a skate park in a former military campground. We'll also explore Vedado and Central Havana.

This was a really special experiance for me and my son. We met in thier home which was very nice and the beautiful grandmother and family puppy were great. My son got to help make a skateboard and then we went to the amazing skate park that the organization made. The park was wonderful and the street art in the skate park was worth the trip alone. We had to cut things short because we had a flight to catch. I wish we had gone on an earlier day so we could have rebooked the same tour. It was wonderful!

Great experience! Awesome to see how many things can be made from broken boards. We made a ring and a bottle opener... and a skateboard! We also talked about Cuba which is one of the most interesting parts of these experiences. I didn’t have time to go to their DIY spot because I had another experience to get to, but the videos looked sick!

I would highly recommend this experience to anyone interested in learning more about skateboarding in Cuba. The guys were great, and they’re doing great work by building a skateboarding community in Cuba. The visit to the DIY skatepark was one of the highlights of my entire trip to Cuba. It’s a special place.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Cuba Skate for giving us an incredible non-profit volunteer experience building diplomacy with Cuban youth. We brought a big box of donated skate gear to our new friends in Havana, learned how to pour cement forms for a skatepark, then shredded the shit out of an abandoned school packed with ramps and jumps. You guys rock!
