Qué harás

Guided by an experienced outdoor professional, Tim will safely lead you on a circular tour over Snowdon’s Summit. We meet at Llanberis and get to know each other, then ascend using the lowest gradient/easiest path, the Llanberis Path, which mostly follows near the route of the famous Victorian Snowdon Mountain Railway line. Around half way up we pass the famous cliffs of Clogwyn Du’r Arddu where many famous climbers made their name. The picturesque lake below it was formed by glaciers and we learn about the landscape forming processes from your guide Tim, who is a retired professor of geomorphology. After 2 ½ - 3 hours of slow steady walking, with regular rests, we reach the summit (1085m) where we have our packed lunch. We descend via the Snowdon Ranger Path passing Llyn Ffynnon-y-gwas then after a slight climb we pass through the locally known Telegraph Col on a recently upgraded well-made track which takes us back to our start point in Llanberis.
Snowdonia National Park is a hiker’s paradise, you will be blown away by the scenic views and raw landscape. You will be out in the fresh air for 6-7 hours and the whole circular route is 16km with ~1000m of ascent. Along the trails you will learn some local history, welsh tales, and landscape interpretation. I will send you our scenic photos taken on our adventure for you to keep as a happy memory of your great achievement.

Welcome to Wales, my name is Tim. I was born in Wales and I love exploring Snowdonia’s fantastic landscape. I am a qualified UK Mountain Leader (Summer and Winter) with current Outdoor First Aid. I have climbed the Welsh 3000’ Furths (915m) peaks several times; 54/136 Welsh Hewitts (600m peaks); 154 Scottish munros and climbed all over the world, including several 6000m peaks in the Himalaya, Kilimanjaro, the Arctic, Antarctic, Switzerland, Iceland, France, and Canada. Through teaching on a University Outdoor Education degree for 27 years and leading walks for a worldwide walking holiday company for 10 years, I have over 35 years experience of leading groups in mountains. The great outdoors is a great passion of mine, and I believe walking brings back balance to our modern lifestyle.

Dónde irás

Snowdon, the highest summit in England and Wales (1085m) is perhaps the most popular mountain walk in the UK. A Victorian Railway runs in the summer months from Llanberis to the summit café. In clear weather you can see for miles in every direction. It is an unsurpassed location to learn about the geology and geomorphology of the landscape. Ores of copper, lead, zinc, iron, gold and manganese have all been mined on Snowdon in the past.
