Qué harás

Compare traditional and artisanal coffees

We will visit a hawker center to enjoy local coffee with runny eggs and kaya-buttered toast. There we will order coffee from my favourite stall that serves coffee roasted and brewed the traditional way. I'll share the different ways coffee is enjoyed by the locals and you will be able to sample some of them. Next we will drop by a mini exhibit of nostalgic "kopitiam" showcasing some of the equipments used to prepare local coffee. We will end at my cafe where you can see, touch, smell, and taste the difference between traditional and artisanal coffees. Last but not least, you will have the opportunity to go behind the coffee bar and brew your very own cup of cafe latte complete with a heart.

I can't live without coffee, and figured the best way to enjoy it for life is by operating a cozy cafe and sharing my passion with others. I love chatting with customers and friends over a good cup of cappuccino. But growing up with traditional coffee has also taught me to appreciate the different perspective people have on what a good cup of coffee could be.

Dónde irás

We will be spending some time at one of the most popular hawker centers among locals and have a light morning snack from my go-to fix for traditional coffee. From there we will take a 5 minutes walk to a mini exhibit showing the traditional equipments used to brew coffee in the past. We will then take a train to the business district that was developed in the 1820s and visit my cozy little cafe.

My flight into Singapore landed crack of dawn at 05h30 - so I was really in need of some coffee! I ended up having a private tour with Sue, but that was not awkward at all and I thoroughly enjoyed chatting to her about coffee, life and Asia and how they all connect! Her communication via the app was superb. The rain poured down that morning but did not deter our fun. I really enjoyed gaining some knowledge about coffee from production to shop and loved the local breakfast at the food centre to begin.

I am so happy that I had this experience. It was amazing. Sue is friendly, pleasant, knowledgeable, communicative, passionate about her work which makes her an amazing guide. I was actually the only one who applied and she did not cancel the experience. Additionally, because we were chatting additionally she did not look at the time (which should have been 2 hours), but without any problem she extended the whole experience for 45 min more. I would definitely like to recommend it as a must if you are visiting Singapore. THANK you so much for everything Sue!!!

This is not just going around a tasting coffee. This was a unique, insider perspective of Singaporean life, history, and appreciation of coffee. Sue was very knowledgeable about not only coffee but Singapore at large. Her insight into the local culture was so great to listen to and learn about. You could tell that she does this because she enjoys the topic and loves to show a special side of Singapore. I definitely gained a deeper appreciation for traditional Singaporean coffee and culture. This experience is worth every penny and more, I would highly recommend anyone visiting Singapore to take the time to learn and take part in the experience that Sue has curated.
