Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

This Vacation Suite is in an ideal location for visiting all the best attractions of the South Island! Steps away from the picturesque Gorge waterway, you can rent paddle boards or enjoy a lovely walk along the water. Situated directly in between Downtown Victoria and the Westshore, it's 10-15 minutes from attractions, beaches, shopping centers, playgrounds and more. Head North for 24mins to the Saanich Peninsula and the famous Butchart Gardens or South to explore the West Coast wonder of Sooke.

This suite can accommodate 1 - 4 people: 1,000 sq ft with private entrance. Living room with 49’ UHD Smart TV. Dining area with seating for four people. Fully equipped kitchen with stove refrigerator, microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee maker. Bathroom has in-tub shower, toilet and washbasin. This is a downstairs suite with plenty of headroom, unless you are extremely tall. Floor to ceiling is 6ft 9 3/4 inches. where a supporting beam crosses the ceiling where the headroom is 6ft 2"

Welcome to our lovely centrally located 2 bedroom+den home with classic cove ceilings and hardwood floors. Our home is located steps away from the Gorge Waterway Municipal Park and a 15 minute car, bus or 30 minute bike ride into the floral downtown core of Victoria. Enjoy serene unobstructed nature watching from the front deck and picturesque views of the Gorge Waterway through the large kitchen and living room windows as well as quiet barbecues on the patio in the peaceful green backyard.
