My aunt and I loved this place. Its located in a private neighborhood and the property itself is beautiful. The cottage is well laid out and absolutely gorgeous inside. The hot tub was clean and was a great way to wind down after a long day. 10/10 recommend this place.

we loved the zipline and it kept our little boy entertained. I wasnt prepared for the small fridge but we managed. Bring a cooler and charcoal and you are set! We really loved it and will never forget it.

We couldn’t ask for a friendlier host or a more beautiful, unique, comfortable and stunningly decorated place to stay in Paia. This is the antidote to a cookie cutter big resort stay, with all the benefits of a truly local vibe and host. Will definitely stay here on our next trip to Maui! Thank you Dave!

We absolutely loved staying at the Treehouse - absolutely beautiful, remote enough to be peaceful and private with a view of the ocean from the front porch, while close enough to Hilo and all the other activities in the area to have tons of fun and adventure. Highly recommend going on the zip-line tour just one town over in Honomu. If we visit Big Island again in the future, we will definitely plan a stay at the Treehouse!

This was our second stay at the Sugar Shack and we would come back again and again! The home and its surroundings are so peaceful and serene. We love everything about it and it has everything we need including small kitchen appliances, cutlery, plates, linens, pillows, towels, beach supplies, games, you really don't need to bring anything other than your suitcase! The location is definitely off the beaten path, so if you're looking to disconnect, this this the place for you (although there is Wi-Fi at the house). There is a small black sand beach super close by that is perfect and several grocery stores and restaurants just a short car ride away. Although we would love to keep this place as our secret, just book it, you won't be disappointed!

This was an amazing escape from the hustle and bustle coming here from Oahu. We arrived in the dark and rain but everything was easy to find and open up. Waking up the next day and seeing the beauty of the area was breathtaking. Everything is exactly as described and very well planned. We would definitely come back on another trip. Thank you 🙏

This place is surrounded by the beautiful Hawaii jungle. We loved the sound of the rain and coqui frogs each night after sunset. Very relaxing, very remote, best to backpack in. Exactly as describe in the listing and previous reviews.

Very unique and beautiful treehouse and property. Loved staring at all the lush vegetation. And the mattress was incredibly comfortable!

The tree nest is the perfect place for those who want a (not too far) off the beaten path experience in a quiet, rain Forrest retreat like setting. It was clean, quiet and restful plus provided a "local" experience rather than a "touristy" one. Robin's recommendations for things to do and visit stay true to the island vibe and made it more special. Go get a massage at Kalani retreat and tour Puna Gold Farm (3 min from the house) then eat at Pele's kitchen in Pahoa. Banarama Bakery next door is also a treat; pun intended. Will definitely stay here again when we return to Big Island!! Mahalo Robin and Ohana!

Truly a magical place in a unique space. Beautifully built wood construction treehouse with thoughtful design elements and touches throughout. You are in the Kona cloud forest. Very lush and private yet with easy access to the tourist and modern amenities in Kona. We could sit and just marvel at the way the home was built. A simple clean kitchen dining area. Third floor open airy bedroom with a view of the treetops and sky. Windows everywhere to let light and views of nature in. We used this as a base to explore Kona and to relax to conclude an 8 day trip to the Big Island. The treehouse is an hour away from Mauna Kea visitor information center. We did the drive to watch the sun set and made it home by 9. Short drive down the hill to the coast. The home has all you need. The wood tone and materials provide a simple aesthetic and the space is relaxing. Truly a unique home to recharge. Mahalo!

Eileen's bird house is incredibly well designed and put together. The house is in a very peaceful location yet just 10 mins from the Volcano National Park entrance. We loved the back patio with the fire pit and rainforest vibe. Highly recommend experiencing this beautiful property.

Our stay at Mike’s residence was a great time. He is very knowledgeable about the area and can provide many tips, as well as up-to-the-minute updates on, and if the volcano is erupting. We really appreciated his integrity, which was displayed when he mailed an item which we had forgotten in the place to my home. All of that happened without any difficulties or setbacks. Mike’s service is really what sets him apart from other owners and property managers. Do note that the property does cool down quickly, and it is important to bring extra clothes and to use the extra blankets when the temperature drops. Oh thanks to Mike. It was a very enjoyable stay. We can highly recommend staying with him.

What a cool spot! Staying in the treehouse was such a cute adventure, nice to get a taste of off grid living in such a beautiful and peaceful location. Perfect for a couple's stay. Just watch out because the trap door to get in is surprisingly heavy ;)
