We loved our stay at the bach! Comfortable & cosy, we loved the spa and the open fire, the surroundings were spectacular! The house had everything we needed for a fun stay! Conical hill walk just up the road was awesome! So much to eat & do at the village. Would highly recommend this lovely home 😊

Thanks so much for a beautiful home to stay in. The grounds were immaculate, and the house had everything you could possibly need. We really enjoyed our stay, this was our second visit (stayed in one of the family lodges last time) and it was fantastic again. Its a great escape from the city!

Really lovey stay. The perfect place for the occasion and a simple check-in check-out experience. Feels like a country cottage despite being on the main stretch in Amberly. Traffic noise is almost non-existent thanks to the layout of the house and the high wooden fence. The garden is fantastic too and we all wish we’d had more time to enjoy the place. Great local recommendations for food and drink too. Have already recommended to others who may be in the area in future. Thank you!

Gavin's place is a pint sized beauty. Everything we needed was cleverly accommodated. The slow combustion heater was set ready for us and heated the space quickly. The views over the valley and night sky were magical. We loved it!

Beautiful quiet location with dramatic mountains on the doorstep. Lovely and warm house. Definitely keen to return.

We were looking for somewhere isolated, unique and memorable and this place delivered in droves. We wanted an escape and we found an oasis. The views to the mountains changes hour by hour as you sit atop the the highest point for miles around. The property had everything we needed and then some - but it was the outdoors spa that won us over. To sit outside in the warmth of the spa under a blanket of stars was truly remarkable - even better to have that solely to ourselves made it even more special. If you have Mariua Mountain Retreat on your wish list, book it now. If you don't, add it now - you won't regret it. NB: for the faint of heart who might feel daunted by the road up to the house - just follow David's instructions and you'll be fine. We drove a little Toyota Corolla and it made it up with no issues. It's a little bumpy in places, but take your time and you'll be up in no time.

If your looking for unique, rustic and quirky accommodations just 40 mins north of Christchurch, look no further. Damian’s barn accommodation is such a fun place to stay. From the spa to the turntable with lots of old vinyl to belt out. Topping this off with a glass of his Pinot Noir on the veranda in the afternoon sun was the ultimate escape. Damian is a wonderful host, friendly and welcoming. His breakfast hamper option is very generous and delicious. We were lucky enough to have a tour of the main homestead which has been lovely restored by Damian and also has beautiful BnB accommodation. Two wineries with great food are just minutes down the road. All in all I couldn’t fault this unique accommodation. Thank you Damian for your welcoming hospitality. Cheryl & Donna

My mum and I had a wonderful stay here, quiet and peaceful self-contained unit. Beautiful views over the hills, and use of the hot tub was a huge bonus! The hosts were friendly and welcoming with great reccommendations and chats.
