Malcolm gave clear instructions on how to get into the room. As we were arriving very late, it was an unexpected courtesy that he was there to welcome us in person, and show us the kitchen and dining room so that we could easily get our breakfast in the morning. He was a very friendly host, and didn't get cross when I broke one of his lovely ceramic handled knives. The dining room had some interesting books and art work, reflecting his personality and his love of travel.

We had a wonderful stay at Amanda's! The location is wonderfully central - the entire main island is within max 25 minutes drive - from Kirkwall and Stromness and even Birsay. The house is in the countryside, and is new, modern and utterly spotless. We had the run of the whole upstairs, so 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and our own huge living room with sofas, huge TV and the most enormous room-width picture window looking over the countryside and lakes. Just gorgeous. The rooms are beautifully furnished, and did I already say immaculate?! The very friendly Amanda and her husband were usually around or always a phone or text away, but we mostly had the run of the kitchen downstairs too, and they even laid on refreshments, and all sorts of breakfast cereals, fruit etc. We didn't expect that! We got local restaurant and sightseeing recommendations, and lovely seats when Amanda and husband were around. A perfect base for an Orkney holiday. Best AirBnB we've ever stayed in.

We loved the stunning views from Mara Lodge. The room is beautiful and comfortable. It’s an easy drive to the Neolithic sites or to Kirkwall. We so enjoyed our stay!

We really enjoyed staying at Ian’s place. It was everything we could have wanted and needed: spot on! Heartily recommended!

Mona is a very friendly host with a nice and cozy home. She offered us tea at check-in making us immediately feel at home. I can wholeheartedly recommend the place for a stop over along the NC 500. It had exactly the personal B&B experience we were looking for.

A kind, hospitable and flexible host. I accidentally booked my accommodation on the wrong day, only realising during my travels. Malcolm very generously let me change the booking. I arrived on the late night ferry, too, and had clear instructions of how to get in and find my room, with the keys left in the door. The kitchen and dining facilities are great and it was a comfortable bed. Thank you so much!

A perfect place to have a relaxed break, Ian and Fiona made me feel so welcome, a lovely homely setting. I will definately return in the future. The accomodation was just as described and very clean and comfortable.

A great welcome, friendly, efficient and helpful. Being local, Jackie knew so much about the area and the people, and had the insights only locals know. The house is immaculate, and our bed was one of the most comfy ever! And whoever said a continental breakfast was nit enough has never been here - a wonderful spread. Our stay here was faultless throughout, so this review comes with the highest recommendation.

Comfortable bedroom, private sitting/breakfast room and beautiful private bathroom in a lovely modern house in a rural setting right in the middle of mainland Orkney. Andy is a wonderful and welcoming host, on hand when needed but not at all intrusive - the perfect balance! Our dog was also made very welcome. The private sitting/breakfast room is equipped with fridge, microwave, coffee machine, toaster, cereals, bread, milk, preserves, maps, guide books - everything you need! The modern bathroom with walk-in rainfall shower is excellent. We would definitely recommend The Bu, and would stay again without hesitation!

Can not recommend this place more! The hosts are warming; they welcomed us with a cup of tea, toast and butter. They gave us suggestion for the night, and the breakfast was amazing as well. The place is beautiful, quiet and relaxing. The room and bathroom were perfect. We stayed here one night for our NC500 road trip. If you need a stop near by, this is a must!

Silke’s ‘The Bothy’ is wonderful! It’s probably the very best of any Airbnbs, B&Bs etc that we’ve stayed in. Silke’s warm, friendly welcome set the tone. She showed us round the room, the delightful guest spaces and garden and ensured that we had everything that we needed. The quality of decor, fittings, furnishings and fabrics was outstanding. Everywhere was so tastefully and thoughtfully presented. Room 1, in which we stayed, was beautiful and had the most comfortable bed we’ve stayed in -it has the thickest mattress we’ve experienced! -And then the views and setting… glorious! We were so fortunate that the weather was beautiful and showcased the area excellently. A mile each way offers a fairly easy walk over the footbridge and up the hill to the castle and it’s well worth the effort. Breakfast was delicious and enjoyed with the fabulous views from the window. We couldn’t speak highly enough of this place. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed our stay, the suite was lovely, the bed was so comfortable and the bathroom was really nice. The room was immaculately clean. The breakfast was delicious. John was so helpful and friendly. It was a real experience staying here. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Loved it, will be back. I was really nicely surprised at how great B & B could be when done by professionals. Don't Tell Anyone I said this, or I might not be able to get a room next time I'm in Wick - too many other will want to stay.

Very comfortable stay in spacious accommodation, handy for walking or cycling to the village. Hosts were very friendly and helpful - the lift to the airport was much appreciated. Breakfast was great and set us up for the day.
