Crynant Cottage is based within the village of Ynysybwl, which is an old mining village. The cottage is just on the outskirts of a forestry called Llanwonno, which is fantastic for walking or biking. Within the forestry itself there are beautiful trails where you can find waterfalls and a reservoir, all within walking distance of the cottage.
