Don’s beautiful VanHoevenberg Ridge has become our home base in the ADK, and a “home away from home” where we return several times a year to relax and enjoy the beauty of the mountains and lakes in all seasons. This is by far the best place we have stayed since we have been coming to the ADK for over 30 years. If you are lucky enough to stay here, you’ll be back! Don’s place has everything you’ll need, and is near to everywhere you’ll want to go. The views of the High Peaks are stellar, and the hot tub is relaxing after an active day outdoors. Don is a welcoming host who truly cares that his guests have the best experience, whether avid hikers or simply wanderers seeking serenity and renewal in the woods and waters near his home. He respects your privacy, but is happy to provide his knowledge of the area to find the best hike or paddle for you. This place is our North Star in the ADK: bright, constant, and a place we’ll always look to return to. We recommend it highly to everyone!

Accurately described, very convenient location close to all major towns and things to do/see. Private, personal space and parking, dont have to share or have a neighbor right next door like a hotel. Thoughtful, flexible, easy going hosts. Clean space, comfortable living conditions. Enjoyed the full kitchen and fenced in back yard, if it was nicer weather the backyard is a nice spot for a fire. My dog enjoyed his stay as well. Would stay here again

AMAZING!!! If you are looking for a house to stay at with multiple people in Lake Placid then this is the place to stay!!! Plenty of bed rooms and multiple living rooms! Everything was clean and inside was beautiful. Short walk to Main Street so that was convenient. Also, the kitchen was wonderful and was great to cook in. Very well equipped! The hosts were awesome, left clear instructions on check in and clean up. Responded right away and were super nice!! We were all very happy with our stay (:

This was such a cute & cozy getaway! Karen has thought of everything you might need. There is a fire pit and a picnic table and lots of books to read. Lots of cute nature themed decor. One note for planning is that the toiletries are separate from the cabin. While the cabin is an 'indoor' experience (well sealed, clean, warm, etc), the toiletries are sort of like glamping. There is an outhouse-style toilet and an outdoor shower (with hot water). I love an outdoor shower but it was a bit difficult to use at night because of the dark. Still a world above camping, it’s just good to be aware. The wood burning stove and cheerful outdoorsy decorations were so snug and lovely. We chose this area to access the wonderful hiking in many nearby Adirondack trails. I hope to come back and stay longer next time!

We loved this house! Spacious and full of amenities yet still cozy and charming! From the hot tub to the pool table to the 6 fireplaces throughout the house, this house was a wonderful respite for 6 of us after long days hiking in the mountains! Saranac town in walking distance and Lake Placid along with dozens of trail heads in close proximity, the location was so great for everything we wanted to do. Valerie was an amazing host and even gave us a full tour of the house upon arrival, explaining all the history behind the house and showing us how everything worked! Would definitely book this house again in the future!! Thank you Valerie!

The Chalet was just perfect. Listing perfectly described what you were getting with this little piece of paradise! The Sauna was easily workable. The hot tub was clean and ready to go. The whole house was immaculate and roomy yet cozy. Perfect distance to the MANY MANY WATERFALLS the boyfriend and I were chasing. Skiing at Whiteface will be happening in the future, and hopefully using Judi's gorgeous Chalet to ease my weary bones once again in the future. There were 4 couples in our group and we had plenty of room to spread out! The location was beautiful with all the snow covered trees. We did use the wood stove insert and it heats the cabin really well! We were certainly not chilled when inside; the floor heat is nice too. Enjoyed the hot tub and the ping pong and foosball in the basement. Unfortunately, the dart board was missing. We cooked dinner all 3 nights and found the kitchen was well equipped. Beds were comfy, water pressure and temp were great and the driveway was cleared from ice and snow! I definitely recommend this cabin!

Louis & Vicky’s stay was quiet, peaceful, and perfect for our family. The yard was a great relief when we had some time at home and the two bathrooms was nice to separate making one for the kids and one for the adults. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook which made grocery shopping a breeze. Having a quiet, safe place to come home to after a long day was refreshing.
