Linda’s Place is a lovely former family home in a stunning position on the sea front at Longhope on the island of Hoy. It’s a family home with a very comfy, if somewhat old-fashioned vibe. Don’t expect 5 star accommodation but do expect a warm home well supplied with kitchen equipment and welcoming shortbread (very yummy) and fresh milk in the fridge. There are two boxes of toy,s /games for children of all ages plus a large DVD film collection for showing on the TV , Linda supplies bedding and towels. The bathroom has a shower over the bath. For a rural property the water supply water supply is fab but a tip is to stagger bath/shower times as the hot water sometime can run cool if excessive demand is placed on it. There is a garden with a washing line over the road from the cottage. The next door neighbour is a brilliant neighbour and all locals we met were friendly and very helpful. We two stayed in the first week of August 24 finding the village shop to have comprehensive supply.

Great accommodation close to shops, restaurants, bus and ferry. Cosy rooms with a great kitchen full equipped and beautiful view from the entrance of the house, just all is needed over there!

I'm finding it difficult to put into words what being a guest at Cantick Head was like. Magical, inspiring, cozy, peaceful, safe. The cottage is beyond charming. It was tastefully decorated with little bits of history scattered about. It was absolutely spotless clean with comfortable beds and linens that smelled heavenly especially after a day of hiking the nearby trails. A nature and animal lovers paradise. Alan and his family go above and beyond to ensure you are happy. I found the experience to be quite moving and was saddened to leave. Alan is an example of what an outstanding Airbnb operator is and Cantick Head is a top notch accommodation. The price was very reasonable for the experience of being at Cantick Head. Overall, 11 out 10!

The Cottage was a home away from from home. Rosemary was an amazing host and provided us with valuable local knowledge prior to our trip. The cottage was beautifully presented; so warm and the amenities throughout were amazing and abundant. The highlight was the gorgeous little window overlooking the seafront and the history of the cottage. Highly recommend!

Perfect location and great view from the lounge and top bedroom. Orkney and Stromness is full of very friendly people, happy to have a chat in the street and local pub. It was quite difficult finding places to eat, it was March and a lot of places are closed for the winter. The fishmonger had closed down last December with was quite disappointing, really because we could have cooked amazing food in the kitchen of the house. We will definitely visit Orkney again!

Bert’s apartment was excellent. It was even better in real life than on the pictures. We had two dogs and a toddler with us and were all very comfortable for the duration of our stay. Bert was an excellent host. Really friendly and accommodating. I’d definitely recommend a stay with him.

The Ruah is truly wonderful. It is a historic tiny cottage that directly faces the sea. We saw seals swimming in front of the house. It really is magical. We struggled a bit with the hot water boiler but if you follow the instructions (switch on the boiler 30 min before you need hot water), you'll be fine. The bed is very comfy and you will wake up with a sea view. The cottage itself could do with some modernisation (an old radio for music, the two chairs in the lounge could be replaced.. ) and not everything was superclean but it is very cosy & the whole experience makes up for everything. I would still recommend going. Eday is truly beautiful and remote and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Lovely place to stay very peaceful.

Wow! This place is even better than the pictures! Angela has thought of every detail…every detail! We had a long stay (2 weeks) and we had everything to make us feel right at home. For long stays we like to cook in a lot and Angela had everything we needed to make great meals, from loads of herbs and seasonings, to all the cookware and glassware- a very rare find in my experience. This place also has an actual laundry dryer- we were in heaven. The home is super spacious, squeaky clean, and lovingly decorated. St Margaret’s Hope was a perfect spot to base ourselves for an exploration of Orkney. We had previously stayed in Stromness which was nice but we found SMH to be much more charming without sacrificing proximity to all the sites. Angela is one of the most accommodating hosts we have ever met- I really cannot overstate how wonderful she is. Stop looking and book this place now 🤗

Burnside is such a gem of a place to stay and Anne Marie a kind and helpful host. It's located where you can walk two minutes from the house to one of the most beautiful beaches on mainland. And then afterwards be cosy by the fire. The views from the cottage are also fantastic. We all slept so well and peacefully; Burnside is quiet. Lovely local shop just around the corner as well as a fantastic cafe just a 5 minute walk up the road. We had such a wonderful ten days at Burnside and hope to be back in the future. The cottage was very cozy and comfortable. Well equipped, had everything we needed and some nice touches over and above expectation. Would recommend Kilburn Cottage for a quiet, cozy, relaxing break from normal.

A great location close to the ferry terminal which was ideal! Very picturesque location with amazing views over the bay and a couple of shops and restaurant in walking distance. The flat was exactly as expected from the description and was perfect for us 🙂
