Discover premium local wine & vineyards with amazing views
(Starting from Stellenbosch) Let's go on a full day wine tour to 4 handpicked wineries in Stellenbosch. Experience has proved that the best wine tours are done by visiting two wineries for tastings before having delicious lunch at a vineyard/winery. Then one more winery after lunch to round off the day. The tour starts from central Stellenbosch, but I can also collect you from your accommodation in Stellenbosch area. I prefer visiting small family-owned wineries to have a more authentic experience. I can also plan the wineries according to your preference of wine. Various styles of wine is produced here, from sparkling to white, rosé, red and dessert wines. The idea is to get a good understanding of the local wine scene and what makes the area unique. I am happy to answer all questions regarding grape growing and winemaking. It is also nice to discuss South Africa in general. Enjoy the scenic tour and wine without worrying about "tasting" and driving. Half day tours also available, please enquire
Edible seaweed and plant cullinary experience
You will spend a morning on the beach exploring rock pools. Foraging and harvesting in our natural environment. We only harvest seaweed and mollusks that are prolific in our area. It is important to harvest sustainably and we focus very much in this area. I show you a variety of edible seaweeds, mollusks and fynbos plants endemic to my area. Foods that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. We begin the experience on the beach, where I teach you all the local abundant edible algae, plants and seafood that is available. We spend time learning and exploring. From there we go back to the Creative Classroom where we utilize what we have found in a cullinary experience. There are foods which have been prepped in advance to save time and give you the ultimate experience. There is a host of experiences in a half a day, from harvesting, learning and eating.

As a nature lover and deep meditator with a playful spirit, it gives me joy to share this beautiful hike with you. Timeline: 07h00 Depart from City Centre / Travel 75 minutes 08h15 Group introductions 08h30 Start Hike 11h00 Brunch and Swim at the main rock pool 12h30 Return hike 14h45 Depart for Cape Town 16h00 Arrive at Cape Town City Centre *Please note, these times may vary depending on the pace of the group. More about the hike: We will be hiking along a river with a low-grade ascent. The trail steers into a ravine with vegetation-covered hills that dazzle in the sun. Mountain biking in Franschhoek, like a local
We will meet at a local bike shop to rent mountain bicycles. (Rental not included) Best days would be Saturday or Sunday, best time would be early morning or afternoon. I will provide a sports drink and carry a repair kit, for standard breakdowns. We will cycle along Franschoek town centre (1km), past the historic Franschhoek Huguenot monument (photo opportunity) and on to a road leading out of town, past several farms with great views (4km on hard surface road), we will then arrive at the Berg River dam. From there several options (on dirt roads) exists which theoretically can be self-guided, but with local knowledge of trails, I would suggest the best option, based on party competence, skill and fitness levels. The most scenic, would be a ride along the edge of the dam (6km) which will wind back around a local miuntain (known a “matoppi”. Opportunities to dip in dam is available on hot days. We the have the option to stop at a local brewery (Hey Joe) for a beer, something to eat or a caffeine boost. Finally we will return to Franschhoek via (hard surface) foot path along the main approach road. Again, there is an opportunity to stop at my favourite local Cellar (Franschhoek Cellar) for refreshments. A glass of wine or a substantial (well deserved) meal is no in order since we are less than 1km away from bicycle shop where we need to return bikes to.
Aventura en MTB por Stellenbosch
We will start our ride in Stellenbosch and spend 2 to 3 hours on some of the best mountain bike trails around Stellenbosch. There will be challenging climbs with rewarding fast, sweeping single track down. The trails itself consist of 15% to 40% jeep track and 60% plus glorious single track. During the transition between trailheads and on the climbs I will share local knowledge and stories and incidents that happened on the trails. This is for the experienced rider who wants to explore our local trails and learn about the local surroundings. E-bikes welcome Other things to note Bring enough water and trail snacks
Isla Robben con el guarda de Mandela
I'll bring you to the island prison where Mandela and I first got to know each other. I'll give you insight into life at the prison, as well as my experience as a white warder under apartheid. And I'll take you to Mandela’s cell, the lime quarry where I used to drive prisoners, and where I used to stay on the island. Other things to note Bring sunscreen and something warm for the ferry. I cooked for Mandela and all his special prison guests. Over lunch together, I'll give you the inside scoop on Mandela's diet and show you the album in which I keep my memories of Mandela, including pictures of and notes from him. And I'll explain how a bond formed between us. I'll walk you through the house Mandela stayed in during his last 14 months in jail, showing you what he did in each room, who came to visit, and where the wiretaps were placed. I'll also reminisce about what happened the first time he saw a microwave, the times we swam together, his daily routines, the notes he left me, and how he prepared for his release from prison.
Investiga a los tiburones de Sudáfrica
Day 1 Get up close and personal with the magnificent Great White Shark on a thrilling shark cage diving adventure! Take a short boat cruise from the coast of Gansbaai, then test your courage and plunge yourself into the icy Atlantic Ocean to come face to face with one of the world's most formidable apex predators. You will be awed at how truly amazing these creatures are when seen underwater. Our onboard marine biologist will provide excellent insight into the history, habits and demographics of critically endangered Great Whites and other sharks, and the conservation challenges that they face today. Other things to note Please note that this activity is dependent on weather/sea/shark activity and we may need to swap days/adjust the schedule according to Mother Nature. Day 2 You will spend a day with our marine biologist learning about our local shark species, including Great Whites, Pyjama Sharks, Leopard Cat Sharks, Shy Sharks and others. You will also be trained in the basics of ethical handling and tagging of sharks, Great White dorsal fin ID and photography, and data collection/input. In certain cases, where approved by relevant academic institutions, participants are able to gather credits towards their university Other things to note Please note: While transport will be provided free of charge for this activity, entrance will be on your own tab. Day 3 Go on a wine tasting tour to sample some of the Western Cape’s world-famous vino and chase it up with a picnic on a local cheese farm, where you bask in the sun on a vast green lawn while feasting on some exquisite free range cheeses and other delicacy items. Day 4 We will team up with the kids from the local high school's Marine Science Club to do a beach clean up. We do regular beach clean ups, often collecting as much as 100kgs of trash. We use the Dirty Down methodology to identify the worst trash culprits threatening our oceans. Day 5 We will go on a marine ecotourism tour that will give you the chance to see whales, dolphins, sharks, stingrays, giant petrels and more! Our coastline is blessed with incredibly rich biodiversity and there is no better way to experience our marine and coastal creatures than on one of these amazing tours. Day 6 Take the leap with a canopy tour through pristine wilderness! Go soaring through ravines and amidst treetops on a thrilling zip-lining adventure through pristine wilderness. Experience the extreme beauty of our local environment from an elevated perspective! Day 7 Take a trip to the southernmost point of Africa - Cape Agulhas - where the Indian Ocean meets the Atlantic. The meeting of these two oceans, with their respective warm and cold currents contributes to our changeable weather in this part of the world - we can often have 'four seasons in one day!' The coast here is dramatically beautiful, with a rocky headland and sand beaches, and you can stand on the exact spot that marks the southern tip of the continent! You can also visit the historical lighthouse that has guided sailors through the region's notorious storms for almost two centuries. Day 8 We will take a catch-and-release tagging trip on our 6m research vessel to discover some of the smaller sharks that our coastline supports. Commonly occurring species include Leopard Cat Sharks, Pyjama Sharks and both Puffadder and Dark Shy Sharks. These trips are focused on gathering much-needed data about these species, many of which are data deficient, meaning there is not enough research to classify them according to IUCN standards. These trips also allow an ‘up close and personal’ ocean experience with a host of other marine species including, seals, dolphins, sting rays, sea birds and more! If we are unable to tag from the research vessel due to weather/sea conditions, we may alternatively do shore-based catch-and-release tagging trips, or instead do a snorkelling survey of our kelp forests. Think mesmerising rock pools filled wit Other things to note Please note that this activity is dependent on weather/sea/shark activity and we may need to swap days/adjust the schedule according to Mother Nature. Day 9 Penguins are among South Africa’s most comical and endearing creatures, and there are not many of them left – A 2015 survey estimated that a mere 16 000 breeding pairs remain in existence. We will pay a visit to the African Penguin & Seabird Sanctuary, just 5 minutes from our project house. The sanctuary is part of the Dyer Island Conservation Trust (DICT) and functions as a rehabilitation centre for penguins and other marine birds. Alternatively, we may visit one of the few penguin colonies on the African coast, roughly an hour's drive away at Stony Point Nature Reserve. Here you can see penguins in their natural habitat and, in breeding season, experience adorable baby penguins covered in their fledgling fluff. Day 10 Explore the drip caves in De Kelders cove. They constitute a magical and delicate ecosystem that fosters the creation of exquisite calcite formations – straws columns, cave pearls, helictites, stalactites and stalagmites. They also provide a safe habitat for two distinct bat species.
Pesca con mosca en Ciudad del Cabo
We will be fly-fishing for Rainbow and Brown Trout in what is known as the Cape Streams, beautiful crystal-clear waters that run in and around the Worcester / Paarl mountains. We use light tackle sight fishing for these beautiful wild trout on predominantly dry fly, and the thrill is always phenomenal! The environment and the river we will be in is stunningly picturesque. I document your day with loads of pictures and videos when you catch and then we release the fish back into the streams. This is a humbling experience yet filled with excitement. We’ll provide a light lunch and river snacks made with locally sourced and organic foods unique to South Africa. Other things to note All the main things are catered for but You will need to bring a few things to make your experience comfortable.
Private Wine Tours
During these tours you'll be able to taste wines for free at many different top-class wineries and wine farms without the responsibility of driving under the influence. During this experience, we can work together depending on your time available to decide on how many farms to visit.
Discover the trail to Leopard's Kloof Waterfall
Join me to visit and explore one of the most beautiful sights in the Western Cape. The 'Leopards kloof' waterfall, buried deep in the mountains of the Kogelburg nature reserve in Betty's Bay. I'll pick you up in the morning and drive you via the stunning coastal road 'Clarence Drive' where the mountains meet the ocean. We can stop off on the way if anyone spots a school of Dolphins or fancies a coffee. Once we arrive at the Harold Porter Gardens we can explore the Fynbos, Flora, Forests and pools and then make our way on a trail to explore the three-tiered waterfalls of Leopards Kloof. When we have reached the top waterfall, we can take our time to relax and explore this stunning location. Upon leaving the Gardens we can stop off for a well-deserved 'Dop' or drink and a Beach stroll on the pristine 'Long Beach', alternatively we can take a refreshing swim in Bass Lake if the weather is fair. Alternatively, there will also be an opportunity to have lunch in one of the many Cafes or restaurants nearby. You will then be driven back to the starting point of our journey.
