My first terrible Air BnB experience
Positives first - Its a great house, spacious, well-located, good view of the harbor.
And as we walked in, we did think it was a great place. The co-host Arnie, let us in. Well-meaning gentleman, didn't seem involved with the house though.
Trouble began after the first 5 minutes - no soap in any bathroom, not even a handwash! So we tell Arnie and he says he will get it in a bit (ok, at least helpful)
20 minutes in - Power Outage! Turns out our host hasnt paid the power bills! Our group of eight people (4 kids) stewed in the dark as the co-host tried to figure this out. After an uncertain 30 minutes, power was restored, thankfully.
Next problem - Lower floor bidet is clogged! It was an unholy mess! Which we had no choice but to clean up in order to use the room
AND then... as we head off to sleep after an eventful night, we discover the second bedroom bed is broken! A slat bed that had the central aluminium member clearly bent to the ground and supported up by 3 wooden slats placed there. Clearly, broken for a while and covered up.
BUT the sucker punch...
When I wrote the host about all of this - his reply, aside from being unapologetic, suggested we would have caused this damage!
At that point, I decided to just count to ten, not spoil my holiday and put it aside. There were other niggling issues like ZERO supplies (other than 4 shots of coffee), a kitchen tap that just trickled water, POOR wifi but we were beyond cribbing.
BUT WHAT GOT OUR GOAT THE MOST - This host actually sent me a bill for his damaged bed. The audacity!! Our first truly terrible air bnb experience in 3 years
WHATS IN THIS REVIEW FOR YOU
Visiting this house is like visiting an affluent teenagers pad. Affluent because the house is posh. Teenager because there is zero care taken and it is poorly stocked. If you are bunch of singles willing to live rough, this may work for you. You will like the location. If you are a family, avoid this!
