Perfect for us. There were 8 of us and we just wanted somewhere chilled out to stay for 1 night. We loved the place. Very clean, and Stephen and Anura were perfect hosts. Had delicious breakfast. Felt safe too. It is a bit of a walk to the beach but its doable and a tuk tuk is only 150 rps . Well worth it. Loved the wildlife in the morning, with crows and monkeys displaying their morning antics.

Mimosa Villa was fantastic! It was one of the highlights of the trip. It is set back in nature but the beach is still within a 10 minute walk. My favorite thing was to wake up and take in the surrounding nature - the sounds, the animals and the beautiful plants and flowers. The monkies would climb around in the treetops in the morning and evening. The birds were always around. Anura can prepare your meals for you at your request. They were delicous! He even gave us a cooking lesson. Stephen and everyone else involved were very helpful and assure your stay will be as enjoyable as possible. We were only 2 at the villa which seemed like a lot of space for only 2 people, but having the entire house to ourselves was perfect. Very relaxing: I could sit on the patio all day or in the front room during a nice rain. Absolutely perfect!

Stephen is a fantastic host - a treasure trove of experiences from life and highly knowledgeable about Sri Lankan way of life - allowing for great conversations over the evening. Our family had a memorable stay at Mimosa Villa - the place is very comfortable, clean and the villa has great architecture. Stephen has Anura to help him who is also very friendly with people and cooks so well. Overall, highly recommended place and would love to come back. Let me also add a couple of reflections from my read of other review prior. The WiFi was not at all a problem for us (good coverage across all rooms) and it was quite comfortable without the AC (the place is well sheltered by trees, the ceilings are high and our stay was in December).

Horrible experience. Took more than 2 hrs to find the place. Neighbors do not know of Mimosa Villa and found the place after we chance on a small sign on a utility post. The phone number listed was not in use and confirmed by housekeeper. Listed as having aircon and wifi. False and false. Not a single aircon on the property and housekeeper shows a router but with no service activated. There is a dining table but no dining chair. We paid for 2-night stay but decided to look for alternative dwelling elsewhere.

I am a retired Art Teacher, but I still dabble and produce pieces of Art, which is mainly sculpture these days. I have owned Mimosa Villa since 2005, which I have restored and extended over the years. I currently spend most UK winters (Dec. - April) in Sri Lanka, I have a private apartment at Mimosa.
