Midtown location, across from lovely park. Easy walk to bus, shops, restaurants. 10 min. drive to Gem Show and U of AZ; 15 minutes to hiking trails in Sabino Canyon and Saguaro National Park East. Friendly, inclusive neighborhood. Yard & park great for bird watching. House has southwest colors, folk art, paintings, photos. Keyless entry. Lovely outdoor pool, unheated, great for swimming from May-October. Abundant desert vegetation in front and back yards. Citrus trees offer ripe fruit Jan-March.
My home is casual and comfortable, filled with Southwest colors, art, and photographs, often from my travels. The guest room contains a queen bed, chest of drawers, desk, rocking chair, closet, yoga mat, and luggage rack. A small private bath is adjacent to it.
I have a water softener for the entire house and reverse osmosis in the kitchen for drinking and to fill water bottles.
Servicios y zonas comunes
Guests have access to most of the house and all of the yard, back and front, including the pool. The pool is heated by the sun; I usually swim from mid May-mid October.
You're welcome to pick citrus fruit (ripe January to March) and to use the outdoor grill and the patio. Want quiet time? Sit in the chaise swing outside under the mesquite tree and observe the birds and butterflies, the distant mountains, and the ever-changing sky. Watch red-gold dragonflies dip into the pool for a drink. Gila woodpeckers (they nest in the saguaro out front), hummingbirds, flycatchers, doves, finches, curved-bill thrashers and mockingbirds bring their songs to the yard during much of the day. Watch the sunset--and linger outside to see the star-filled sky.
Guests have access to my secure wifi. Private parking is in the driveway, next to the flower bed.
You'll have a shelf in the refrigerator, space in the freezer, and use of the kitchen, including microwave, as needed.
Atención a los huéspedes
It's my pleasure to share the amazing city and desert I love with you, both in person and via books and flyers. In your room, you'll find a packet of places to visit locally and in nearby areas, including Native American tribes, historic sites, and the fascinating Sonoran desert. If you're interested in the stars, know that Tucson is world-renown for astronomy, and there are observatories in several locations away from the city. Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium is at the nearby University of Arizona.
I enjoy meeting people from different parts of North America and from around the world. Interaction is determined by your preferences.
I look forward to having you in my home! I love Tucson and will be happy to answer questions and offer ideas for making the most of your visit here. I respect privacy, yours and my own.
Tucson is a desert city, and water conservation is very important. Please do not linger in the shower or leave the water running when you brush your teeth and wash your hands.
The only other "house rule" is mutual respect and consideration.
Optional (free) continental breakfast, with coffee or tea, organic cereal and fruit, yogurt, toast or tortilla.

I've lived in different parts of the U.S., including the South, Midwest, East and West Coasts, and have lived or traveled in Asia, Europe, and Central America. I moved to Tucson 13 years ago, new to living in an arid land and awed by the Sonoran desert--as I still am.
I like to garden, read (especially poetry), write, travel, swim, hike, spend time with friends/family and with my two cats, Max and Abby. I enjoy meeting new people. I'm friendly, and I appreciate humor.
I study animal communication, and I practice mindfulness. I am a grateful person, and kind, I hope.
I look forward to meeting you.
