One of New Orleans' finest neighborhoods, Faubourg St. John is famous for its stately trees, abundant parks, spectacular homes, world-class museums, vibrant bayou, excellent restaurants and fine shops throughout the neighborhood especially along its business districts in Mid City and Broad Street minutes away from Zulu Social and Pleasure Club.

Faubourg St. John contains the full range of residential uses, fun and friendly business districts, office space, a wide range of medical services and a small amount of light industrial property. This full range of land use, plus the economic and ethnic diversity of the neighborhoods' population qualifies Faubourg St. John as a premier destination.

Just up Orleans Avenue from the French Quarter, Faubourg St. John is known for its beautiful shady lanes, gorgeous homes, and laid-back vibe. Great restaurants, cafés, and bars dot the landscape, with sidewalk seating and relaxed patios.

It's also home to the New Orleans Fairgrounds Race Course and Slots, one of the nation's premier horse-racing venues, and the world-famous New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. St. Louis Cemetery No. 3 opens its gates onto Esplanade Avenue, inviting visitors to explore the rows of above ground tombs and mausoleums. Its minutes away from the beautiful City Park that host Voodoo Fest and many events through the year. We are steps away from Bayou Boogaloo Fest. is a free, three-day, family-friendly music and arts festival located on the historic banks of New Orleans' Bayou Saint John.

At the end of the avenue you'll discover Bayou St. John, the scenic waterway that meanders through Faubourg St. John, and ends at the lakefront. You'll find all sorts of people out enjoying the wide grassy banks—biking, fishing, or just strolling along and admiring the reflection of a sunset in the smooth water.

From the house, it's very easy to hop on the city bus system, which passes on Esplanade Avenue. It's also a short cab ride to area attractions (maybe $10 cab ride) but, like everything in this city, the best kept secrets and beauty lie within the places that you don't see when riding in a cab or a bus. It's the stories in the nooks and crannies of his centuries old city - the places you don't see from a fast-moving car. For this reason, renting a bicycle is recommended. Doing so will give you an up close and personal tour of the city's architecture and allows you the freedom to stop and take it all in. There are many area bicycle rental shops. We are happy to make recommendations for you.

We are native New Orleanians and have a love for this city, which we would like to share with you by inviting you to stay in our home. However, this is a private home and we ask that you respect all areas that are for residents only. We would like to make your stay as comfortable as possible, so please let us know if there is anything you will need, directions or suggestions, that will further enhance your stay.

The Magee Manor was fantastic! Linda has created a wonderful NOLA retreat with all the amenities. She has four themed rooms, a fully stocked kitchen with new appliances drinks/ snacks, a beautiful common living room area, and wifi throughout. The property has plenty of parking, if required, and a huge deck to enjoy the warm weather. Check-in was very easy, she keeps a lock box for convenience so you don't have to worry about an exact meeting time (had trouble with this before and have been left waiting for other hosts to arrive with keys in the past). We arrived later in the evening, Linda was very responsive and accommodating. She met us the next morning after we texted that we were up and I found her to be a true gem of a lady and well versed hostess!! I've stayed in several AirBNB properties and this was, by far, the best in every way. She has emulated a luxurious hotel vibe, for a fraction of the cost, very near the city center and close to all the best neighborhoods (City Park, French Quarter, the Garden District). Search no further! Linda has one of the best spots in NOLA. If you can make your visit a weekday getaway, you will likely find less tenants (by chance we had the entire house to ourselves) and a much easier time navigating through the city. Things to do: We drove to the French Quarter, parked for $10.00 at the corner of Rampart and Conti around the corner from a bike shop (you could Uber for about the same, according to LInda). We rented two bicycles from the American Bicycle Company, for about $35.00 a piece for the day. We toured the quarter on bike, covering a lot more ground, locking them up as we desired to stop by shops and restaurants. We were able to return them on our time schedule that evening- they have after hours drop available. The Garden District we saved for our second day in town, it's about 5 x 5 city blocks of the immaculate antebellum homes and can be strolled through, easily or toured on bicycle. The Lafayette Cemetery was right there and we hit a bar and grill after that, Tracey's had great craw fish and catfish. Have a great time in NOLA.
