Tommy's place was great - cozy, clean, very practical for a small group and an incredible location. Would absolutely stay again if the opportunity arises.

Tommy and Tony were great hosts. They were on site when we arrived to give us a friendly and very thorough walk-through of the place, along with some useful tips for sights to see, where to find local amenities and places to eat and drink. The apartment is spacious and in a great location on a pretty block, only 5 minutes walk up to Dupont Circle. There are many cafes and restaurants within a couple of minutes walk, and a big green space at the end of the street. We had everything we needed in the bedroom (including a travel crib for our daughter which they had kindly assembled before we arrived), and the fully equipped kitchen was very useful too.

Tommy and Tony were great hosts. They gave us hints on where to eat and the closest transportation, (Metro Line). We"d definitely stay there again.

The positives: quick responses from Tony when requested on a couple of occasions; location; ability to leave our bags after checkout, which enabled us to continue sightseeing prior to catching our evening flight. We had a wonderful trip to DC, but our accommodation was the most negative aspect of our trip. This is our fifth experience staying with AirBnB in four states -- and it was our most disappointing. We chose this accommodation based on the positive reviews regarding cleanliness, location, and price. Upon using the location and directions features in the AirBnB app, we found a bug in the improperly formed address that caused the "view map" button to serve up the wrong location in maps. This has been reported by other reviewers. I reported it to Tony along with the solution to the bug that he could correct himself (removing First Floor from the street address field). Technically, this is a basement, not a first floor, but that is beside the point. He was in denial about the addressing problem and told us that he just assumed people were stupid and could not find the correct address. The directions and house rules are full of details that border on information overload. Less is more. An example was their need to explain the characters in the Wi-Fi password. If the password is so problematic for your guests, just change it to something simpler! When we initially walked in to the unit, we thought it would meet our needs.  However, we quickly discovered that the apartment had not been properly cleaned for a while. Although there is a "no shoes" policy, the carpet was filthy (needs a good shampooing) and the kitchen did not seem as clean as it appeared in the pictures.  We placed our groceries in the refrigerator and found it also dirty. The final straw was when a large roach tickled my bare foot while we were making coffee on our second morning. My wife and I were quite startled and jumped quickly out of its way.  We trapped it in a glass and alerted Tony. He promptly took care of it and improved the weatherstripping -- which we appreciated. When we arrived in daylight, we overlooked the exterior of the basement apartment. But coming in every evening, it was disturbing to walk through the door with the abundance of cobwebs and accumulated dirt on the floor.  The garbage cans next to the exterior door were not pleasant. The house rules even asked us to put the garbage out on the street for pick up and also empty all interior containers upon checkout. This is not something a guest should need to do; Tony graciously handled garbage day for us. There are several signs posted around the place with reminders on rules that point out the obvious and also reiterate the house rules we read in the app.  We were provided one bath towel each for our 5-night stay and need to ask for more toilet paper. It seemed as though minimal supplies were provided because other guests had stolen items. Note: the bathroom is very...

We loved staying at Tommy's place! The GPS took us to the wrong location at first with the address provided, but we were directed to the correct location very easily! The apartment is very close to all of the main parts of DC and within walking distance to DuPont circle (great bars!). The place was very clean and looked a lot larger in person! Will definitely stay again if we are back in the DC area :)
