My name is Carmen Classy, I am a retired Federal Employee. My Son Ron and I are the proprietors.
I have been blessed to live on this beautiful place and I would like to share it with others that might enjoy a place like this. This area has been designated as historic and is close to four of the Missions. In addition, the San Antonio Missions have recently been designated as World Heritage Sites.
No smoking is allowed anywhere on the property.
I am very active in my church and my parish is called Mission San Jose Church (The Queen of the Missions).
I love my God and my family. My immediate family consists of one son, a lovely daughter in-law and three beautiful grandchildren which bring a lot of joy to my life.
I am a friendly person but like to give my guests their privacy; however, if you or your group have any questions, most of the time I am on site.
I go out of my way to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable in my home. I also love to watch TV and love sports, especially the San Antonio, Spurs.
My life motto is treat everyone with respect and treat them as I would like to be treated. My favorite food is Mexican food.
Let me tell you the story about this place. When my husband and I first came to look at the place in 1975. There was only one building on the lot. It was a long building and the owner told us that it used to be a parachute loft. It was used to make parachutes for the government. Also, when I first saw it, I saw chickens coming out of the door. I asked my husband, where are we going to live? He said we will make this place livable. So we bought the place and we added a kitchen, bathroom and one bedroom to the place. We lived in what I called the Cabin for nine years, then we had another home built on the other lot which is right across the driveway from what I now call the Cottage. The original building was built in the 1940's. After my husband died in 1995, I remodeled to what it looks like today. It's nothing fancy but it"s homey and clean.
The Cottage is 1300 sq ft with two spacious bedrooms and one bathroom, one of the bedrooms opens to a large covered deck and has a view to the three and a half acre backyard which is adjacent to the original San Antonio River Reservoir. The cottage has two living areas of which one of them has a sleeper couch with a queen size memory foam mattress (the red couch in the living room). The cottage will comfortably sleep six people. The cottage has three Tv's with Directv as provider. WiFi is available and the password is on the fridge door.
The home is fully equipped with condiments as oil, salt and pepper, coffee, cream and sugar.
This place is what you would call country living in the city because we are 15 minutes from downtown San Antonio and the River Walk, yet when you drive into this Historic Neighborhood which is nestled in the heart of Missions Historic District you feel as if you're way out of town and away from everything.
The cottage is close to hiking and walking trails. The Mission Information Center which is within five minutes from us, rents bicycles which you can use to explore the surrounding trails and the Historic Missions. There are also shopping malls and grocery stores (HEB) and Walmart within five or ten minutes from the cottage.
For those coming to Air Force graduations we are 8.4 miles from the base and you don't even have to get on the free way. You make a right turn on SE Military Drive and your 20 minutes from Lackland AFB.
If needed we have the Mission Trail Baptist Hospital within ten or fifteen minutes from us. Also, several Urgent Care Clinics on Military Drive.
There are many different kinds of restaurants near by. I have names and addresses of most restaurants in the area listed for your convenience at the cottage.
A charcoal grill is available. However, you must use it under the carport and not on deck because of fire hazard.
If you choose to stay at the Classy Cottage, you will experience peace and quiet in a beautiful country setting. May God bless you and keep you safe in your travels.
