Located on Runaway Hill, Bella Green is a compound on 9.75 acres in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, where weather temperatures average between 60-85 degrees. Here you'll find an eclectic compound of independent buildings: the Bella Green Guest house with two bedrooms with private bathrooms and its wonderful a shared screen porch area, the Vista ESCAPE tiny house with 270 degree windows and maximum privacy, has its own private parking area and outside sitting area.

Guests who stay at the Guest House are invited to enjoy the outdoor fire pit area with two comfy lounge chairs and two upright chairs w/footstools (that bounce/rock), the screen-porch area with love seat on one side and a rocking chair plus bench on the other side (shared by guests and a part of the guest house rental) . There is also an outside raised deck area overlooking the view with two more lounge chairs and our al fresco breakfast table. The Resource Center is home to the spa break room which holds our full body vibration "shake" exercise machine, Keurig coffee bar and mini health library, as well as a private massage room.

Inclement weather does occasionally happen (just a few days out of the year) and in this case, we are happy to open the art studio/exercise studio as an alternative space to relax in. Also in this case, breakfast may be served either inside your guests' home or at the table in the screen porch area rather than al fresco on the porch. Guests in our Vista ESCAPE tiny house have the option to dine outdoors a l fresco or when cold or rainy, you can dine inside at your host's dining room table.

There are plenty of hilly neighborhood streets to walk, and/or yoga mats that you are welcome to borrow and use on the open outdoor deck. The art studio/exercise room has a rowing machine, ballet bar, and some hand weights, should you request to use them (no extra fee).

~ Choosing to be eco-sensitive, we use only Comphey (TM) sheets in both the spa and guest bedrooms, organic bamboo mattress pads, on-demand hot water heaters, bamboo flooring in guesthouse, low-E windows (many with screens to allow a cross breeze, ceiling fans (in the screened porch and in each bedroom in the guesthouse), and independent self-adjusting AC/heaters.

~ In the screened porch area, there is a mini-fridge, a coffee/tea bar (but bring your own blend if you'd like!). Fresh filtered water that has been pH balanced and milk (or mylk) for coffee are available upon request.

~ Our guests tell us the guesthouse rooms feel very European - not too large, tastefully decorated with warm colors, and with queen size beds that sleep very, very well. Everyone appreciates the ability to fully adjust the room temperature to his or her liking and as we know it's sometimes difficult to be out of touch, so we have free wifi anywhere on the property.

~ The large screen porch area on the front of the guesthouse overlooks the view and runs the length of the building, so one can cuddle up on the loveseat, look out at the views from the rocking chair, or enjoy the wifi from the extra-long (four person) desk area that overlooks the view.

~ All guests have access to the outside fire pit area under the trees (with plenty of firewood), and any of the decks on the property and just outside our front gate is a "Little Free Library" box where you can take any book if you like!

~ OPTIONAL SPA SERVICES: Massages and Infra-red sauna are by appointment only. The cedar infrared sauna ($35 for single/$45 for 2 guests) is a great way to relax or detox, especially in the winter months. It comes with a self-serve aromatherapy scrub for after the sweat. Subsequent sessions during your stay are $10 each (or $15 for 2 guests). Your host Karen has been a licensed massage therapist for over twenty years. Please arrange in advance, as massages are available on a limited basis. The cost is $70/hour.

In addition to your room, Guests have access to the outside fire pit area under the trees (with plenty of firewood), the deck on the house under the trees where breakfast is served al fresco (weather permitting), as well as a open deck where you are welcome to stretch, yoga or sit and journal....

~ The library area with cozy sitting area for guests, contains a full body "shake" exercise machine, mini-wellness library, and an infra-red sauna. Massages and use of the sauna are by appointment only.

As hosts, we try to be available to greet guests and provide a brief property tour, When invited, may join you in a glass of tea or wine at sunset, or chat over coffee in the mornings to learn more about you and your hill country adventures. Otherwise, we make it our business to give you space to enjoy your special quiet time here as you like...

NOTE: We live on the property in a separate building should you need us for anything.

Lovely acreaged neighborhood feels like you are on vacation. Pipe Creek is very quiet town, with little in the way of a downtown area....yet we do have a lovely a farm-to-table restaurant (tucked behind an antique store) for those looking for good food that is close.

Many Guests like to venture out to our "sister" cities of Boerne, Bandera and Helotes, TX are just another 10-15 minutes further away. These areas offer interesting and diverse downtown dining, shopping and park/recreational areas to explore at your leisure!

Boerne is very pristine and is home to our FAVORITE dining spots and an awesome wine bar. They also have unique boutique shops and beautiful art galleries to explore.

Bandera is bit more casual, more "cowboy", has live country music, the opportunity for dancing (most days) and of course, horseback-riding and/or hill hiking. It is considered "Cowboy Capital of the World" and has a fun river to float too (weather pending).

Helotes has one of our favorite honky-tonks...and cool market days and some nice bicycle riding trails.

All three cities are very fun to explore! Take a day at each and you'll understand why we think our location is perfect for a hill country getaway!

You'll want to your own transportation. We are a small community in the hills and therefore, no public transportation is available.

Take time to explore our sister cities, the greater hill country area, or simply stay put and make it a STAY-cation as a writer's retreat, silent personal retreat (with or without spa added) or to get familiar with the concept of living tiny if you think you might want to do that. We feel it is very healthy to stay "tucked in," enjoying the spa services, the hills, the natural beauty, the peace and quiet, and of course, our often spectacular daily sunsets! NOTE: The hot tub is no longer an amenity here though some reviews may comment about it.

Our special artisan "al fresco" (outdoors on the patio) breakfasts are included in the price.

Check in is anytime after 3:00 pm, and we encourage you to get here before sunset as they are often spectacular! Check out time is Noon for all guests. We are happy to send a map for navigating our hill if you'd like, but auto or phone GPS generally does a fine job. If it suggests you drive down Bump Gate Road, CALL US. That route no longer works to get here.

For those wanting total guesthouse privacy (not wanting to share the guesthouse and its screen porch and outside firepit area with another guest), we are happy to accommodate when we can for an additional $75 per night (instead of the regular second room cost of $135). If you are interested in this option, please request it with your reservation.

The full body vibration "shake" machine and the wellness library in the spa area are free to use! Life coaching comes as a part of the retreat package, or it is available for $50/hr or 3 hours (typically broken into 1.5 hour segments) for $120. Former Natural Awakenings "healthy living" magazine publishers and current colllege professors, Karen and Mike LOVE where they live and because they feel so blessed, have chosen to share the peace and beauty of the hills with others.

"Doing absolutely nothing except enjoying the breeze, the views, the sights and sounds of nature, which is an event worthy of anyone's time and something we encourage all our guests to do! The screened porch is a favorite place for our guests, especially at night. It keeps the bugs (we have few) out while allowing them to FEEL the outdoors. Also, we are WiFi connected so they can still check in with work, or loved ones, as needed."

Mike is a fiction writer and a southern gentleman who loves rescue dogs, gardening, vegetarian eating, music of all kinds (he plays guitar and the Chapman Stick) , and contacting almost 40 years worth of friends worldwide with amateur radio. Karen is a "people-person" originally from the Chicago area who has found that living simply - amidst nature and away from the maddening crowd - a true delight! She loves meeting new people, has healing hands (i.e., she is also a licensed massage therapist who gives an awesome massage), loves being creative, whether in her cooking, sculpting, crafting, exercising, painting or coaching. Our breakfasts, while not yet legendary, are pretty darn nice!
