Location is perfect, views are great. The hotel (and room) itself are as described and awesome.
There were a few service issues though. First, got a "double room" that didn't include AC (which AirBnB listing said it would). Had to go back and forth w reception about getting this fixed (eventually it was).
Had issues getting my wife picked up from the airport. They said they'd only pick up once from the airport and I had to clarify (multiple times) that I walked to the hotel and they hadn't picked me up from the airport. Initially they said they'd be ok taking me to airport so I can show them who my wife is and we can return to the hotel, then in the morning said I should cab it there myself to help them pick her up (what?).
At this point I was overall frustrated and wanted to minimize my contact with the service at this hotel (not a good sign). Did not have room service / turn down service for the 7 days I stayed there. It didn't bother me too much, so I didn't bring it up (and also didn't want to deal with going over it again and again). Not sure if it was supposed to be included or not, so this may be not be an actual issue.
And when I checked out, they legitimately looked relieved and literally said a quick prayer (in front of me).
Again, the hotel and the room itself were great. The service was lacking. Maybe I just had a bad experience. Still one of the better deals for the $ in Thamel though.
PS (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps locates the hotel correctly, but the entrance is not where the marker is. When you walk down one of the adjacent streets, look for signs pointing to hotel Nepalaya. You have to take a small side street to the hotel (which is tucked away from the major streets).
