This property is booked full for both 2016 and 2017 in late June, all of July, and early August. Please check the calendar before initiating an inquiry.

As with all homes there are hazards inherent in any property. Parents assume full responsibility for inspecting property for hazards to their children and managing their children and those conditions while they are present to safeguard the health , safety and welfare of their children. House is all new in 2013. Roomy 3 bedroom and two bath cottage. Full laundry. Full living area with separate kitchen and dining spaces. Beautiful bright sunroom sitting area overlooking the lake and beach immediately in front of the house. Spaces flow comfortably together so no one is left out but there are lots of nooks for quiet reading or work. Thoughtfully designed and highly functional house with top quality commerical grade gourmet kitchen. Natural sunlight throughout with plentiful glass for view out to the lake as well as surrounding woodlands. Bedrooms have full closet and dressers. Master bedroom has ensuite bathroom. Sleeping loft has areas for children or adult guests. Spent four years designing and preparing to build this. Corrected all of the flaws in the previous home and then some.

Lived on this lake every summer for 65 years. Family on this lake for 95 years. Love it summer or winter! Family owns house next door to the north and the lot between the two houses.

My grandfather bought the property next door to the north shortly after he returned from World War I about 1919 and then built the first house on this lake in 1921. The original rustic log cabin was replaced by the current existing next door house in 1946, right after World War II. My parents honeymooned at that home in 1947. I visited this lake for the first time in the summer of 1950 two weeks after I was born. I have been here numerous times in each year between then and now.

I bought the property where my current home resides in 1993. It was the fourth time that the property had been for sale since a small frame home had been built upon it in 1925 by an aging German bachelor who was also a master carpenter. The carpenter retired to this property in the 1930's. I knew this gentleman very well. I hunted and fished with he and my grandfather on and around the lake. He owned the property and lived there most of the time until his death in 1965. He left the property to his cousin. The cousin eventually sold the property and a sequence of owners enjoyed the lake and that same original house until 1993. I bought the property in 1993 and modestly improved and remodeled the original house several times. That sequence of efforts evolved over years into the net very substantial upgrade that is this current home.

My grandfather passed away in 1962. My grandmother passed in 1988. My mother passed in 1992. My father passed in 2011.

The property to the north remains today in the hands of my brothers and myself. Between us we have 9 children all of whom routinely visit and stay at our homes on Horseshoe Lake. My brothers and I have planned for and hope to pass these wonderful living spots along to our children and are now well prepared to do so, when the time is appropriate

House will be open when you arrive. Security systems will be disarmed.

I will often not be present on or near the property. However, I can be reached and am available by phone and email. (EMAIL HIDDEN) (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). I have a lady that works for me part time and she is usually available in less than one day if I am notified of a specific need. She may sometimes be available in less than one hour.

My brothers and I may sometimes be present at the house next door to the north. I may sometimes be present in the apt above the garage. I may sometimes be present in the basement of this house.

I retain access to the basement at all times, and to the garage at all times. The guests never have access to the basement or any part of the garage.

Loons live here 8 months of the year. They will be out almost every night in spring, summer, and fall (when lake is ice free)

The Northern Lights can sometimes be seen in the late evenings with all exterior lights off

Mature lawn and stone pathways around house, and out to the garage and roadway

2 mile walking trail in woods across the access road behind the garage

Terraced outdoor patio with fire pit. Renters must provide their own firewood. DO NOT remove wood piled on any adjacent properties.

Older Vermont Castings gas grill is available and newer kettle style charcoal grill. Renter provides additional fuel, if fuel is expended.

Small lake. Pristine spring fed water. Low boating traffic on the lake nearly all of the time as compared to White Fish Chain, Gull Lake, Ten Mile Lake, Leech Lake, etc. More suitable for families in some ways. More suitable for children venturing out on their own. Better wake boarding and water skiing due to low wave height and quiet boating conditions. Many bays on the lake. Always a calm spot for trick skiing and trick wakeboarding. Generally good fishing. Often good sunfish and bass fishing right from the dock.

Not close to any form of public transportation. You must bring a car. The nearest airport is about 50 miles distant at Brainerd, MN. There are numerous beautiful bicycle trails in the area. Bring bicycles for local activity.

Pets are not routinely allowed. They could be permitted in limited circumstances only with prior permission of the owner. There will normally be an extra fee for bringing a pet. Discuss with owner.

Due to bed arrangements, this property may not be suitable for 7, 8, or 9 adults requiring privacy. This property may not be suitable for 4 couples.

All adults, and in particular parents, are responsible for inspecting this particular property upon arrival and discussing with own(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)) any issue that they encounter, so that the adult guests present, and all parents, maintain and exercise their responsibility to safequard the health and welfare of themselves, their children, and their pets.

Owner with prior discussion might permit guest to bring a pet. If so, then the renter assumes all responsibility for the health and safety of pet as well as total responsibility for any damage caused by the pet. This responsibility includes any issues related to the health of the pet interacting with some interior or exterior feature of or materials on the property or on the exterior site.

Security system includes onsite exterior video surveillance of property.

Renter does not have access to basement or garage. Owner will have full access to, and make use of, the garage (from road side) at all times.

Renter will not enter, or use items stored in, the basement.

If you instant book without sending requests, then:
1. the number of guests must be accurate and cannot change
2. The booking will not include a pet, without prior discussion with owner
3. The booking must not be for more than six persons without prior discussion with the owner

My preference for any such discussions (more than 6 persons, or pets, etc) is that it be done by phone. There will be extra charges for pets or extra persons.

Pets not normally allowed. . They could be permitted in limited circumstances only with prior permission of the owner. There will normally be an extra fee for bringing a pet. Discuss with owner.

Bed arrangement and sizes in the house are not normally suitable for more than three couples or more than 6 individuals. The house could accommodate up to 9 persons in a close family, but only with limited (or no) privacy for 2 - 3 people in that 9 person group. Prior discussion with owner is required for any group greater than 6. It should not be presumed that the house is suitable for, or that the owner will accommodate, all groups greater than 6 maximum.

Large collection of classic novels and some recent literature. Almost all novels. Please do not remove from the house. Please DO NOT take with you away from house. All of my books are available at your local library. Check them out for extended use from a library and do not remove any books from my home.

Some limited board games: Monopoly, etc. Stored in library area closed shelving and upstairs in loft storage drawers. No video games available. Bring if needed. Do not remove board or card games from the home.

DirecTV for Samsung 40' and Samsung 55' LED. Service can sometimes be erratic in rural North America. Maintenance required more often than urban areas

Minimal library of videos, but recent movie rentals available less than two miles away at Godfrey's Hardware and Grocery

Boat and car parking alongside garage. No RV parking. No camper parking.

Continuous recorded video surveillance of the entire exterior of the property. Extensive security monitoring systems for all portions of the property, interior and exterior. These systems are all routinely accessed remotely by me. There is no interior video or audio monitoring.

Please consider helping my staff, by removing any towels used in the bathrooms and any sheets and pillow cases from the beds used during your stay, just before you depart. Leave those used linens in the first floor laundry room. I do expect you to leave the house in same general state of cleanliness, as that in which you received it. However the remainder of all deeper and detailed cleaning and all linen washing will be done by my home help.

This is a lovely neighborhood on a beautiful, and tranquil, spring fed lake. The neighbors would not appreciate a loud and raucous party or large gathering during the daylight or evening hours. Please be courteous to all who surround you as well as to me your host.

Rental by the week only in May - September. Exceptions only with owner concurrence.
