Descripción

Private front half of a Shotgun apartment with shared bathroom. Within easy walking distance of St. Claude music venues, Frenchmen St. and the French Quarter.

There is a living room at the front of the house with 2 couches. The living room opens into a bedroom with a queen size bed and full-size refrigerator, microwave, and coffeemaker. A shared bathroom is accessible from the bedroom.

The living room, bedroom, and bathroom will be fully accessible to guests. The kitchen may also be accessible at certain times depending on my housemate.

I will be out of town but my housemate will be available to assist.

St. Roch is a historical neighborhood, with a scenic New Orleans above ground cemetery called the Campo Santo a few blocks from the house. A short walk takes you to the St. Roch Market and lively music clubs like the Hi-Ho Lounge, Siberia, Allways Lounge, and more.

Buses are easily accessible within a few blocks on Elysian Fields Ave. The Frenchmen St. / Marigny / and French Quarter neighborhoods are within a ten walk.

Bonne expérience Airbnb, Ryan a été très accommodant. La chambre est très spacieuse et confortable. Bonne destination si vous possédez une voiture, car la nuit ce n'est pas conseillé de rentrer à pieds.

Very flexible host, accommodating and nonintrusive. Must be open-minded to stay here. Neighborhood IS safe, unlike the review mentioned below; it was not the prettiest, but the people we encountered were very friendly and we never felt endangered. The house was reasonably kept. The pictures WERE accurate; nothing about the place was a surprise, except for maybe the neighborhood condition. Even the statement about the proximity to the French Quarter is true. But we approached the situation with an open mind and understood the general conditions of New Orleans. Though many areas MAY appear to be unsafe, this is not the case. There is a lot of charm and history here; and if we expect to only expose ourselves to the pretty, privileged areas while traveling, we are performing a disservice to ourselves by not immersing ourselves in the community. For $50/night, please be open-minded or go stay at a luxury hotel.

I am writing this as a warning to anyone who might want to book this listing: DON'T. While the listing look beautiful, clean, safe, and private, it is unfortunately none of those things. The pictures were clearly taken in an alternate dimension, as the house we arrived at was dark, filthy, and smelled absolutely horrible. The bathroom was literally falling apart, and there was dust and dirt everywhere. The house itself is located in a very unsafe neighborhood, to the point where my party did not feel leaving our car on the street would be a smart idea. This wasn't a problem, however, as we did not end up staying in this location. While it is listed as a PRIVATE room, the truth is the only privacy is a sheet hung partially over a doorway separating you and a complete stranger. I'm sure Ryan could be nice, but I don't trust anything about this situation. Save yourself the stress and book a night in a safe area (one where locals don't give you a look of horror when you say where you're staying) with a booking that has reviews saying it's as it seems and is safe. Learn from our mistake and avoid this place.

Respuesta de Ryan:
I would encourage anyone here to read the other reviews of my house left by less irksome and entitled people. Here was my review of Alison as a guest: "It was Alison's first visit to New Orleans, so I'm not entirely surprised by her reaction. I live in a multiracial neighborhood, in the real New Orleans. Alison found my place unfit and then proceeded to simply leave and drop the keys to my house in the mailbox without notifying me of the situation. Over 24 hours later I attempted to check in with her via text message and only then was able to learn the of the situation. In the meanwhile, the keys to my house were just sitting there. I'm a musician and have invested a great deal of time into the music studio at the back of my house, so I found her inability to communicate unsettling. New Orleans has a serious crime problem and I was extremely troubled by her lack of concern or communication. I don't think Alison is a bad person, but she's young and has a lot to learn about dealing with people. She specifically mentioned her whiteness as a contributing factor to her discomfort, which I think explains her sense of entitlement and disregard for other people's safety. I would not recommend her to any host, unless $50 a night for two people guarantees a place in a white neighborhood with lockdown security, lobsters, and champagne."

I am so grateful for Ryan and how well we worked with me while setting up the rental plans. He was incredibly flexible, and accommodating in every way. The space was perfect, and the housemate was welcoming and had open arms to show us around town. The area wasn't far from Frenchman or the French Quarter or the Garden District - which worked perfectly with our plans. I had an amazing time, and I will definitely be coming to this place again! I loved New Orleans!

I love playing guitar on my porch on a fine spring evening as the sun is setting.
