Ray and Jyll are phenomenal hosts! Their (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) cabin was exceptional and really exceeded my expectations! The combination made this family weekend trip off the charts! I highly recommend them!

If you are looking for a vacation rental in the Kenai or (URL HIDDEN) area, stop searching! This is the place! Wish we could give it 6 stars. We spent 4 nights at the cottage from July 30-Aug. 3. We were initially a little nervous about renting a property without any prior reviews, but we saw the owners had very favorable ratings from guests they hosted in their main home. We are extremely glad that we took a chance. Ray and Jyll are honestly the most gracious hosts we have ever worked with, and our family has rented approximately 45-50 vacation properties around the world. They provided excellent communication during the booking process and took time to answer all of our questions about the home and the area prior to arrival. You are not likely to find two nicer people, who really go out of their way to make sure their guests have a very positive experience. Jyll called as we were driving to Kasilof just to make sure we were doing OK. Ray is an experienced outdoorsman, who loves fishing and tells great stories. He taught our two boys (ages 16 and 12) how to fish for salmon in the river by their house. On his day off, he took us down the river on his fishing boat. Our oldest son, who is the fisherman of the family, was in heaven. By the time we left, Ray and Jyll had become great friends, and we were very sad to leave. Moose Ridge Lodge is a fully restored homesteader cabin originally built in the 1920s. Although the exterior of the home looks rustic, Ray has done an excellent job making the interior modern and comfortable, with two bedrooms, a living room with an ample supply of DVDs, and a fully-equipped kitchen. Although there are other homes nearby, the property is quiet and private. There is a nice porch as well as a patio where you can enjoy morning coffee or sit outside for a family meal. The cabin sits at the top of the ridge above the Kasilof River. The owners live nearby at the bottom of the hill, just a short walk away. We were welcomed to their property to fish along the bank of the river, access the internet, and to just hang out on their deck and enjoy nightly conversation around the campfire. The location of Moose Ridge Lodge makes it an excellent base camp for exploring the western Kenai Peninsula. Our family took day trips to Homer (75 min.), (URL HIDDEN) (20 min.), Kenai (20 min.), and Captain Cook (60 min.), but the highlight was always returning home to Moose Ridge Lodge at the end of the day. Although there is still so much of the world left for us to explore, this is one place that we definitely hope to return.

Our children are grown and on their own. God bless them. Our home is peaceful. We enjoy hosting and meeting new people and sharing our Alaska experience with them. We moved to Alaska from 'corporate' Orange County, CA eleven years ago and have enjoyed a wonderful slower pace of life since the first day we moved here. We are hunting and fishing enthusiasts and look forward to meeting you and sharing our Unique Alaskan Homestead with you. Summers are light all night here, but the guest rooms have blackout curtains.
