Private garden level studio apartment with new bathroom, kitchenette, and covered garden patio. Includes full-sized apartment refrigerator, sink, coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster/convection oven, microwave, George Forman electric grill, vegetable steamer, and rice cooker. Laundry facilities for multi-week guests.

Short term guests access the apartment through the host's living room and main entry door with electronic lock. Private access available from your own COVERED GARDEN PATIO and a second exterior door for long-term guests.

We will give you privacy, but help with directions and recommendations for restaurants, galleries, & sites, and share our knowledge of Cape history.

The house is on a half acre of wooded land, as are most houses in this pretty, woodsy neighborhood, 0.6 miles from Heritage Museum and Gardens - 100 acres of beautiful plantings and museum buildings, and ZIP LINE OUTDOOR ADVENTURE PARK; plus HIDDEN HOLLOW, a tree house and play area for children, and an antique automobile museum. Stroll down Old Shawme Road to private Upper Shawme Pond or to the National Historic District and Sandwich Village with Historic Greek Revival Town Hall, approximately one mile. There are many hiking and bike trails in the town and nearby, including along the Cape Cod Canal Path in Sandwich and Shining Sea Bike Path out of Falmouth or Woods Hole.

There are many cafes (Brown Jug) and a tea room (Beth's) in Sandwich Village. We highly recommend Cafe Chew for coffee, sandwiches, salads, baked goods, and everything else. It's in Merchant Square, 1.5 miles down Route 6A. Try the Brown Jug (for outrageously delicious pizza cooked in an outdoor oven, and for elegant dining, The Belfry Inn & Bistro, a beautifully restored church, or CW's wine bar next door. For waterfront dining, try the new Fisherman's View or The Pilot House on the Cape Cod Canal or the new Horizons on Cape Cod Bay. An economical restaurant with friendly service and good seafood is Captain Scott's on Tupper Road. For wide range of beers, and great casual dining, try Flynn's pub.

We offer a driveway parking space and having a car will really help you see the Cape. Optionally, the Glasstown Trolley can take you to visit local Sandwich sites (in season). Taxis must be scheduled ahead, and Uber too. Car rentals are nearby and accessible via taxi/Uber, as well as to the bus station for Boston, Provincetown, or Providence. We're happy to keep your bikes in our garage.

If you are arriving from Boston or Logan Airport via the Plymouth and Brockton Bus line, or from Providence via the Peter Pan bus, you can book a taxi to our house via Bourne Taxi (+(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)), or using Uber.

There is bus service around Cape Cod via Cape Cod Rapid Transit. However, it takes pre-planning, patience, and time to use this as your primary form of travel on the Cape.

Summer 2016 3-month resident has provided a recommendation of the studio and hosts for interested parties. Close to Joint Base Cape Cod and to Cape Cod Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. 20 minutes from and Plymouth, Falmouth, and Hyannis hospitals.

We provide Nexxus shampoo & conditioner, plus Neutrogena shower & bath gel. A hair dryer is also provided. No need to pack those heavy items. Beach towels and 2 chairs upon request.

Boston and Providence are each approximately one hour's drive away. Provincetown, an art colony at the eastern tip of Cape Cod, is about a 75 minute drive. Of course all drive times are contingent upon traffic.

SCENIC DRIVE: : A great way to see Cape Cod is to leisurely drive along Route 6A (Old King's Highway), from Deep Cove Cottage to Provincetown. You will pass through many of the Cape's 15 villages, or have easy access to them. You will also pass The National Seashore.

Sandwich, Massachusetts, Estados Unidos · Se registró en Septiembre de 2015

Our home is quiet, a good place for a retreat, a writer's getaway, or home base for exploring all of Cape Cod. We are pleased to have hosted 58 groups from 25 countries in August.

Walk along a winding country lane and down Old Shawme Road past the new ZIP LINE and 100 acres of gardens at Heritage Museum, one mile to The Sandwich Glass Museum, and National Historic Districts of Sandwich Village, Jarvesville, and Glasstown. Our house is on half a wooded acre across from a pond for neighborhood use. We've lived in Hawaii; Manhattan; Los Angeles and Pasadena, California; Washington, DC; and Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, but love living here the most! We like to travel together, and have been in Asia, Russia, Europe, Africa, and Latin America, and spent long visits with family members living in Mozambique, Guatemala, and Peru. Anne is a Bostonian, a writer/editor/ poet. For several years she ran a literary venue at The Grange Hall in Sandwich, presenting poets and short plays by local playwrights. Steve is originally from San Diego, has had a long career as a telecommunications executive, and now consults. Their favorite things to share are film, theater, and art - all in abundance on the Cape, and will share where and what is happening culturally, as well as suggestions for day trips and dining throughout the Cape. Books on the natural history and history of the area fill the guest room bookshelves. We give our guests privacy, but can offer suggestions for your visit out of our knowledge of Cape Cod. We bike and kayak and provide bike trail and kayaking locations. Driving tours are available upon request for an additional fee. "Woodview" is a single or double room with a private bath; the Luxury Suite has its own bath, kitchenette, and 42' long deck. (BOOK EACH SEPARATELY; or BOTH together to have the entire 2 BR, 2 BATH, private wing of the house.) "Starlight Room," on the 2nd floor, has two single beds with a private bath. Continental breakfast served with all rooms. The Garden Studio with a bath, small kitchen, and patio, available after September 12 for extended stays of 15 days to one year, or longer by agreement.
