Coastal frontage on spectacular north coast of Kangaroo Island.
88 acres with 800 metres of private coastal frontage, only 3 kms west of main Stokes Bay Beach. The secluded house is set back in the property, with ocean views, an abundance of wildlife and great walks/hikes, Kayaks, a small boat, two Stand Up Paddle Boards and snorkeling gear for out the front (rocky cove). 4WD recommended but not critical. "It's like having your own private wildlife sanctuary."

El espacio
The house offers complete privacy, while providing you with a centralized base from which to take in the many attractions across the island. The house accommodates 4 guests in 2 bedrooms. A GUEST HOUSE MAY BE READY FOR 2022 - ENQUIRE REGARDING ADDITIONAL FEE FOR BOOKINGS AT THE END OF 2021 if interested. A Portacot is available on request and there is plenty of camping space. Entirely gut renovated in 2018 it has 2 bathrooms, open lounge, dining, kitchen and large deck with an outdoor sunken lounge with open fire pit. There is no place better to seriously unwind and relax. TVs in each room for DVDs when you just need to watch something great before falling asleep, with digital satellite TV in the main living area. Reverse cycle air conditioning/heating and indoor fireplace. WIFI (limited due to remoteness, so no streaming sorry.) Gas BBQ. Shower with views of the shrub. Check the Wi-Fi details on this listing please. As may have changed recently. The “track” to the property is unpaved, and can be bumpy in a couple of parts. A sedan is fine if you drive slow, but 4WD is better.

Servicios y zonas comunes
Guests have access to the entire place but should avoid the storage shed out the back for general safety reasons. The paddles in the house are for the watercraft sitting out the front at the rocky cove (a stunning 5 minute walk through natural Sheoak forestation). If you have a 4WD you can drive down the wider path. Before you drive off the cliff you'll see a turn to the left. Take that to an opening on the right with steps down. Only use watercraft on light wind days, southerly direction. On-shore northerly winds will be too rough. It can glass out early morning and evening. Watch the swell also. The coast can sometimes boast waves.

Otros aspectos destacables
Nothing is perfect on KI. It's rural and remote. Please forgive minor details that are out of our control. Any major issues we will take care of you the best we can. The house is practical and relaxed in style, in step with the Kangaroo Island way of life. The fully equipped kitchen gives you the option of catering in-house. Best to stock up in Penneshaw or Kinscote with additional produce available in Parndana and the Rockpool Cafe 6 minutes away (lunch only). The restaurants are seasonal.

Stokes Bay, Australia Meridional, Australia

You will find a great variety of native animals in the scrub located around the house, including the short-beaked echidna, tammar wallaby, brushtail possum, southern brown bandicoot and Kangaroo Island kangaroo to name a few. You are practically staying in your own conservation park, with a wide walk path from the house to the coast, and smaller hidden wallaby paths through the forrest/shrub. No snakes have been spotted, possibly because of the resident goanna who is very chill, but care should be taken across the entire Island. The birds are stunning. If you're lucky you'll see a pair of endangered Glossy Black Cockatoos who feed of the sheoak trees.
The waters along the coast also boast an amazing array of unique marine life. A great snorkel can be had out the front of the property to the right (the sheltered cove at the end of the path). And further right (east) at the base of the cliffs are beautiful, sandy bottom (often) sheltered areas for swimming and snorkeling and paddling around. It's tricky access to the base and we have yet to include signage - se best to just explore. Not many people have walked that coast before. In the water, be mindful of swell, which occurs from time to time. If you are not experienced with the ocean it's best not to venture in.
National parks
More than one third of the island is dedicated to national and conservation parks. Flinders Chase National Park is the biggest, taking up most of Kangaroo Island’s western side. Here you’ll find the wind-sculpted Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch and many endangered animal species. Like the rest of the island, there are brilliant wild flowers and towering gum trees.
Cape Willoughby Conservation Park is home to South Australia’s first lighthouse; explore stunning limestone caves in the Kelly Hill Conservation Park; and Seal Bay Conservation Park is home to a colony of Australian sea lions. At Cape Borda, climb the lighthouse and enjoy some of South Australia’s best views.
Walking trails are common on Kangaroo Island. Many are well sign-posted, making your bushland walks educational and beautiful. Attention cavers! Explore Kelly Hill Conservation Park and its maze of dry limestone caves and tunnels.
A guided tour is not a bad idea. The locals really know Kangaroo Island’s secrets, so tell them what you’re interested in and leave the rest to them.
Conservation
The critically endangered Kangaroo Island dunnart shares its environment with native goanna and snake species, six unique types of bat and six frog species specific to Kangaroo Island.
Australian sea lions and New Zealand fur seals live around Seal Bay and Admirals Arch. It’s easy to tell one from the other. If the seal has ear flaps, it’s a New Zealand fur seal.
Kangaroo Island has its own bees too. The local honey is exceptional.

Our family lives in New York with a business in the film, TV and commercial industry. I grew up in South Australia and visited Kangaroo Island often, which is my favorite place in the world (outside of Manhattan?). I recently purchased the Stokes Bay property from an owner who received 9 reviews all 5 stars. It's a newly renovated and likable house, which will be improved over time. There is a little wifi and cell service is weak. The land is stunning. Stokes Bay the beach is featured in the latest Australian Tourism commercial (Kangaroos on the cliff). This location provides a brilliant "Australian" experience for internationals and a unique nature experience for Australians. April will be your host, she is a local who manages the property. Her partner did the renovations and is handy at fixing issues that can come up due to the remoteness.
