We are in love with Granada... we really had no idea what we were doing and booked Gregorio's place on a whim, hoping to be close-ish to the Alhambra (25 minute walk). This apartment couldn't have been more perfect for us. As we checked in a beautiful Muslim call to prayer was being sung from the adjacent mosque. That, for me, sealed it.
Part of the original allure of Gregorio's place was parking --- it is very tricky to park in European cities in general and Gregorio was very helpful in locating a free spot. This is a UNESCO historic district so certain hours are closed to cars, and no one has private driveways. Despite that public street-parking seems easy enough to come by, however you best be comfortable driving in narrow passageways up very steep cobblestone roads.
Gregorio as a host is incredibly accommodating. Our Spanish is not great, so it was really helpful that he could communicate with us in English. He had excellent recommendations for tapas and sightseeing. He was also just a really rad dude.
The apartment itself is beautiful, centrally located within the Albayzín district, and has a gorgeous view of the city from the rooftop deck. Mirador San Nicholas is just around the corner, where you will find breathtaking views of the Alhambra, talented buskers, an artisan market with original works, and restaurants.
Inside the shower pressure is perfect, bed pretty firm, and kitchen fully outfitted for cooking (we definitely did not cook though, the free tapas at Aixa kept us full!).
Now to figure out how to become expats in this glorious place... and hopefully Gregorio's neighbours. (:
