Patricia and Anthony were the loveliest Airbnb hosts! Staying with them was definitely the highlight of our two week camping trip. We had a ball spending time with the makeshift family which had come together at Patricia and Anthony's, sharing great stories and experiences with Mikka and Pete, who we hope others will have the luck to meet. Patricia is an avid chef and we loved her delicious meals, which were a welcome change toty our usual camp diet. We also had the opportunity to go out onto their sailboat for a very reasonable fee and camp overnight at an island on the Whitsundays. Anthony's knowledge of the islands was invlauable and he took us to a beautiful destination as weather didn't allow for our initial plans. It turned out to be the highlight of our group's trip by a country mile! We decided to stay extra night later in the week and Patricia and Anthony were more than welcome to accommodate our change in plans. If you are looking for 5 star luxury accommodation, you may want to look somewhere else, but the rustic cabin was perfect for us. Views of the forest from bedwa and the sounds of local fauna were a delight. Not to mention Gemma the dog and Kiev and Maple, the eccentric chickens. This is the place if you are looking for more than just a place to stay, to share stories, experiences and to have a change in pace in lifestyle. Many thanks to Patricia and Anthony for welcoming us into your place and for the wisdom, you have won the affection of children!

Alistair and his group of mates were an absolute pleasure to host. They are very friendly, respectful, helpful and heaps of fun. We are so happy that they enjoyed their time at our farm and on our boat. We hope that they will come and stay again soon. We wish them all the very best with their studies and in their new jobs.

Patricia, Anthony (and Gemma, the dog!) were the most wonderful hosts I could have ever hoped for. At short notice my partner was unable to travel with me, but eager to see the Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef, I went solo. Patricia and Anthony made a massive effort to ensure I enjoyed my adventure. They gave me lots of advice re. what to do/see on the local area. They had planned to take a trip out to the islands on their boat and even invited me along with them in return for a contribution towards fuel, food, etc. We had a great couple of days together and I enjoyed their company as we exchanged life stories. Back at the house, damage to the property from Cyclone Debbie is still evident but they have done a magnificent job getting the place in shape so far and despite the most recent reviewers speculations about the cabin's probability to fall apart with some rain, it is still standing after a cyclone..! They have all sorts of fruit, veg, herbs, spices, etc. growing on their land and have some very tame free range chickens to greet you at the house (right, after the 20+ wallaby's do so as you turn in off the main road!). They also had a baby possum which I got to see being fed. Patricia is a great cook! Hoping to return with my parents when they come to visit from Ireland!

We enjoyed Sarah's company and are very happy that she had such a good time staying with us. We hope to host her and her parent soon. We love sharing the beauty of the Whitsundays with guests. One of the things we like most about being airbnb hosts is meeting people from different countries. Sarah is from Ireland and we found her stories about her homeland very interesting.

This place shouldn't be listened as a host. Patricia is very nice and welcoming. She gave us dinner and breakfast when she didn't need to, we appreciated that very very much. However I would never recommend this place to anyone. The space she offers is precarious. One different wood on top of the other with different sizes makes lots of wholes and instability. It is very hot inside with no fan or aircon and light, it had to use my phone torch to organise my backpack. She does put nets on the beds, but after a shower (which is in another house as the toilet) I was sweating heaps and thought it would be impossible to sleep under the net, I slept in the car the one night I spent there, we left next day even tough it was booked for 4 days. The bugs and mosquitoes make harder to sleep. also the rain that day felt the cabin was going to fall apart. The listing doesn't show any photos, doesn't mention any of that, so I felt cheated, booking persuaded by the good reviews. When we arrived they start saying slowly what it is about. We aren't fussy, but all that made our experience a nightmare. It is cheap, very cheap and that's what you get.

Respuesta de Patricia:
We have had 23 guests prior to Ana and all of them gave us excellent reviews. Not one of those 23 guests complained about insects or inaccuracy with regard to wifi, noise (even in our house the heavy rainfall can be noisy), description, photos or amenities. The rain forest has a rustic appearance. It is described as rustic in the profile. No guests have ever questioned the stability of the cabin's construction. It has been used as airbnb accommodation for almost a year and has withstood heavier and longer rainfall many times in the past and the cabin did not "fall apart". The cabin has power and has a light. The cabin has extensive screening to provide ventilation and no guest has ever complained about the heat. The temperature during the night described by Ana as hot was 22 degrees C. The profile states that the bathroom and toilet in the farmhouse is to be shared. We have received 6 excellent reviews. We think that Ana and her group had unrealistic expectations of a budget priced accommodation. We provided a clean fully screened cabin set next to a rain forest equipped with comfortable beds, mozzie nets, electric mozzie repellent and coils, a fridge, electric jug, milk, coffee, tea and sugar. We also provided dinner (beef and vegie wraps) which Ana's group did not offer to pay for AND a breakfast (cheese vegie frittata made with fresh free range eggs and freshly baked bread) which was complimentary. All of that for only $52 per night for FOUR people. We believe we offered good value for money and apparently 23 guests agree. We are disappointed that we couldn't please Ana's group as we pride ourselves with our excellent reviews and enjoy going to a lot of effort to please our guests. We wish Ana's group safe and happy traveling and want to reassure potential guests that we are able to offer a wonderful experience in a uniquely beautiful setting at an affordable price. 23 guests believe our place, The Rest BnB, should be listed as a host.

We had a wonderful stay in the most tranquil surroundings. Patricia and tony were the most welcoming and generous hosts that went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant stay. The fresh bread and eggs were just what you need to kickstart the day. We hope to return sometime soon!!

I was born and raised in Vancouver Canada, have lived in Auckland NZ, Brisbane Queensland and now enjoy living in the sunny Whitsundays with my Australian partner, Anthony. Before moving down under I travelled in the US and Europe. We are a semi-retired, friendly and relaxed couple.

We have a wonderful hillside 2 hectare property in a rural area on the south coast of Cape Conway, 37 km south of Airlie Beach and 27 km east of the charming small town of Proserpine. It is a 5 acre farm consisting of an organic citrus orchard and rain forest. We enjoy clean, fresh air and wonderful tasting bore water.

Please be aware that despite the criticism stated by Ana about the rain forest cabin's stability it withstood the effects of a Category 4 Cyclone (Debbie in March 2107).

You have a choice - you can bed down in a rustic 2 room airy rain forest cabin which accommodates a maximum of 4 guests. It has no bathroom but has power and water. The light filled and fully screened cabin on the edge of our rain forest is a short walk from our farmhouse or you can stay in one of the bedrooms in our farmhouse which has a view of the sea and nearby mountains. The room in the farmhouse is more suitable for 2 guests but we can accommodate 3. In the rain forest cabin enjoy looking up at the Milky Way from the bed! We can provide cooking facilities in our large farmhouse kitchen. I am a great cook and for a reasonable price I can provide meals as well as a complimentary breakfast of a cheese vegetable frittata made with fresh eggs, freshly baked bread, tea and coffee for breakfast. Please be aware that you would be sharing the spa bathroom in the farmhouse.

We are located near Cedar Creek Falls, a great swimming hole, and Conway and Wilson Beach which are very scenic. Wilson Beach has a swimming enclosure and there are bbq facilities at Conway Beach. Our property is a designated reserve for Rock Wallabies so you may see small kangaroos on our land. We also have sunbirds, cockatoos, kookaburras and lots of different types of butterflies. We are a bit 'green' and are Fauna Rescue volunteers so if you like you can help feed baby possums and wallabies. Great fun for the kids, too! We are very involved in the local community and can help you with arranging bookings on the tourist attractions such as trips to the Great Barrier Reef.

If you are willing to pick up plastic from the islands (nothing messy or dangerous) you can enjoy a great boat trip, swimming, snorkelling and a delicious lunch, all for free. I can try to book you on the eco barge. Trips are dependent on weather conditions. If you go out on this amazing day trip you will meet people from around the world and help the environment. We have a lot to offer and want to make your visit to our very special part of the world memorable and fun.
