El alojamiento

This is such an unusual location. 312 Whipple is an artist community that has been thriving and feeding the Chicago Art Scene for 25 years. It's a gem tucked secretly in a secure gated block with access to an unprecedented amount of outdoor space. The gardens alone are enchanting. Visit some authentic live/work studios or catch an exhibit if you can!

Servicios y zonas comunes

Amazing private garden. Great proximity to downtown, The United Center and public transportation. Free secure, gated parking. Bike share program around the corner.

Atención a los huéspedes

Come share a beer or do your own thing... You name it.

El barrio

We want to under promise and over deliver. So we want to be clear that this property is on Chicago's West side in an amazing multicultural and ethnically diverse neighborhood. It is, for sure in the inner city. It's full of grime and glory. You can't walk to a coffee shop but you can make eye contact and chit chat with a total stranger. Not many places in a big city where that happens anymore. If you're not used to big cities, do a street view to make sure it's in your comfort zone. Or, step outside of your comfort zone and have a fantastic new experience. Isn't that one of the best parts of travel!?

Cómo moverse

2 minute walk to The Metra. 6 minutes to the CTA which can have you any place in the city. One of the biggest pluses is our proximity to public transportation. Also a quick walk to the Chicago DIVY... our fantastic bike share program. Bike downtown in 15 to 30 minutes depending on location and biking ability. Uber to either airport for about $15.

Nicky's place was great! It was very clean and easy to get into and out of. The secured parking in the back was definitely a plus. The neighborhood was ok - nothing to walk to, but it was an easy uber/cab ride anywhere you wanted to go. It took us about 10-15 minutes to get to soldier field. Nicky's place is pretty minimal so bring extra towels if you think you might need them. There also isn't any way to play music and no cable so it was very quiet. The WIFI worked well though! We just stayed one night (and spent most of the time at a concert at soldier field) and felt safe and happy there. I would stay here again!

Beautiful apartment and very spacious ! I would bring an eye mask to sleep in since it is bright when the sun comes up despite the shades . I never felt unsafe here and it is a quick, convenient 5 minute walk to the train. I did not attempt walking at night but an Uber to the door after dark worked just fine . I slept well and the neighborhood seemed quiet despite it being Memorial Day weekend .

Very spacious, clean and modern looking apartment. Great private parking. Walls are very thin so it was a bit noisy at times.

Our quality of life depends on how well we deal with adversity! Feel positive. Live positive. I grew up in a small costal town in Maine. When I turned 19 I realized that I was a closet wanderer. So I hit the road and covered much of the U.S. and all of Europe. I taught skiing in the Rockies and rode my BMW R65-LS from coast to coast. When I was in Europe I was amazed at how willing people were to open their homes to a total stranger. I had one of my best experiences living with a family in Romania in the Carpathian Mountains. Amazing! I feel this is the best way possible to travel. It's part of why I love Air B&B. Hotel shmotel! Live the life of the area. That's an experience. Now my wandering days are over. I'm rooted in one of the coolest communities I know. Rich with art and spirit. I have two amazing girls that help me garden, can, collect eggs and milk. My partner is a fellow East Coast boy, avid hockey player and my right hand man. I also tour with an ABBA tribute band as well as a Pink Floyd tribute band but don't hold that against me. I hope you like it here half as much as we do!!
