This is a NON-SMOKING home. Quiet enjoyment of the home is expected.
Check in time is 4 pm and check out time is 10 am unless arranged previously in writing.

Check out routine:
Place used sheets and towels in utility room floor. Returned the cleaned grill to the washer/dryer room.
Bring out all garbage to the cans in the enclosed area on the side of the villa. (The lids of the garbage cans need to be secure otherwise the raccoons will pull the garbage out of the cans. One garbage can has a twist top and one has handles that flip up to secure the lid).
Unplug toaster and coffee maker. Return Hunting Island pass to binder.
Lock 2 doors (Sliding glass door with wooden bar & glass front door) Leave interior doors open to promote air flow throughout the home.
Turn on the dehumidifier in the laundry room.
Turn the air conditioner to 78 degrees in the summer and the heat to 65 degrees in the winter before you leave.
Leave the fans on high to circulate air.
The refundable security deposit will be returned after my housekeeper cleans the property which is within 2 weeks of departure.
Return keys to lock box on front porch.

Dataw Island is gorgeous and we enjoyed our stay there. Beaufort is a beautiful town with lots to offer. The TV's and computer in our villa didn't work and we didn't have any toilet paper in our villa after traveling 6.5 hours we had to mske a trip out to get some. But the villa was nice and quiet. A nice getaway for a few days. Heide was quick to respond prior to our trip. I didn't try to contact her once we arrived about the issues I listed. All in all it was a nice villa with lots to offer close by.

The house is beautiful. There were six of us and we had plenty of room and weren't all over each other. The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet. We had a great time at Hunting Island Beach just relaxing in the sun and crashing some waves. We didn't get the chance to go to the pool or do any kayaking but we had a great time. Definitely recommend staying here.

This year, spring break magically aligned for a child in college, a child in public high school, and two children in a private elementary school. This was also miraculously the same week that my wife had a one week break in her chemotherapy that she's been undergoing for the past 8 months. We decided to take the kids for a brief 3 day trip to the beach. We knew that the weather would be cool, but just to walk on the beach with the kids seemed like a little bit of heaven. My wife went to the hospital the day before we left to get a blood transfusion so that she would have enough energy for this trip and to walk with the kids on the beach like we have always done. Since we were off season, Heide's place seemed like a good fit. A dock on tidal water is nice for fishing, and a 10 minute drive to the beach is not a big deal if you know you're not going to be all wet and salty on the way home. I'm going to tell you the good things first. Dataw Island is beautifully landscaped. It has bike paths all through it, and it does have a clubhouse and a restaurant, and there are many super cute houses that you will pass on the way in. Heidi's place is not one of them. Her villa is half of a duplex. It is a 2 bedroom duplex (looks to be late 70's/early 80's architecture), and there is room for 5 people to sit in the main living area. Our family was taking turns with comfortable seating and trading out with the wooden seats from the dining area. The dock that you see in the photos is not private to the apartment; it is a community dock that is a short walk from the back of the place. You can almost see it from Heidi's place. The area used as the third bedroom is about as big as a large walk-in closet. The roof is slanted and most adults would not be able to stand in most of the room. It is not really suitable for an adult, or more than one teeneager. The fold-out couch that is one of the beds would not fold out. We all tried. The airbed also leaked. The kids were disappointed to learn that the pool was only for laps, except for a couple of hours each morning. All of these things were disappointing, but they are the sorts of things that we can overlook. We're not fussy people and we are used to making the best out of every circumstance. But the thing that we could not overlook, and that really seems unforgivable, is that there is no beach. Yes, you read that right. Hunting Island Beach is closed and has been closed for nearly 6 months. There's no date given for when it will reopen. No beach. No shell hunting. No lighthouse. There...

Heidi was great and place was very nice. The beds we used were very comfortable but we ended up not using the third (URL HIDDEN) is very tight so 2 of us stayed elsewhere.

Great spot on Dataw. We were visiting family on the island and needed extra space. Club, golf and pool are just across the parking lot. Comfortable arrangements and beautiful view.
