AT THROUGH HIKERS ARE WELCOME and if I have enough notice I will pick you up at Stecoah Gap, free of charge and give you special rates. My daughter and many of her friends are long- trail,
through-hikers so I am happy (when available and with some notice) to be your trail angel!
This home is very serene, up in the mountains. However, it is near Fontana Village /Dam/lake & resort, the Nantahala Resort & River, the Nantahala Outdoor Center with whitewater rafting, kayaking, canoing and zip line adventures.
I must mention that Robbinsville is famous for being THE location of The Tail of the Dragon. Also located here, is the pristine Lake Santeetlah as well as Tapoco lodge with The Slickrock Cafe' on the water. There is a NEW steakhouse that has just opened in town named, "Moonshiners!" It has a full menu including steaks, wine, burgers and beer. Another new restaurant, The Willow Tree, is small, open on weekends and requires reservations but has a remarkable chef as well as a different menu each day. Their steaks and shrimp and grits are delectable! You can bring your own beer or wine in with you, if you wish to partake in an adult beverage with their amazing food. This restaurant is a great value for the incredible food and service!
If you are an outdoor enthusiast, you wont have to go far because there is an abundance of natural beauty including trails (the AT- Stecoah Gap), creeks and waterfalls to see and activities to experience, only minutes away from this home. Some of these include Huckleberry Bald, Yellow creek Falls, Joyce Kilmer National Forrest, Deep Creek tubing/hiking/waterfalls and the Cherohala Skyway with incredible long range mountain views!
In addition, there are close, unique shopping attractions like Weihrloom Honey and the Stecoah Valley Center Gift shop, that sell lovely works made by local craftsman and artisans.
There is so much to do here, I don't have the space to list all of the activities available.
Realistically though, some guests want to get away and stay in the mountains, and do absolutely nothing at all. This lack of activity is often just what you need and The Mountain Sanctuary is the perfect place to unplug and chill!
FYI- Although Robbinsville is a "dry" town, there are a few resorts that serve wine, beer and spirits. You can always bring your own, purchase at resorts, or buy what you desire at nearby towns of Bryson City, Andrews, Murphy, on your way to check in.

I am a 4 x cancer survivor who took an early retirement so that I can LIVE IN and ENJOY EVERY moment of my life!
I was born and raised in South Louisiana so I am a pretty good cook and I love to entertain. Surrounding myself with good food, drink, music and the ones I love, make my life very full and enjoyable!
I cannot live without God, family, friends (most of whom live all around me), and you guessed it, the majestic mountains! I absolutely love to be with nature, gardening, hiking, wildflower walks, discovering waterfalls, swimming in nearby lakes.
Some of my favorite vacations have been in Orange Beach, Colorado Springs, Wyoming, Montana, Hawaii, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Mexico and Ireland. But I have to say that I feel like I live in a little piece of paradise, in these mountains!
Sipping wine on the deck and staring at the endless sky of twinkling stars, here on the mountain will help you unplug from the madness of the world and take you far away from your worries! Leave life's chaos and head for the mountains. They are calling...
