Descripción

This is a beautiful stylish space, set in the heart of a working medieval organic farmstead. Marvel at the glorious rolling hills of Devon or the stars from the two cast iron bath tubs on the deck.

This rural retreat is perfect for those wanting a slice of real farm life on the doorstep of Dartmoor. Bright, charming and beautifully finished with its own private out-side deck where two side-by-side cast iron bathtubs offer alfresco bathing under the stars with an idyllic view of a sweeping apple orchard.

Inside is open-plan. At one end a 3 metre fully equipped kitchen with fridge, electric oven/gas hob and dining space for four. There is a separate bathroom with shower, loo and basin and a lobby area for coats and shoes.

At the other end is a sitting room with two hand-built sofas with upholstery made from super-yacht mattress makers Naturalmat. The sofas can fold out into compact singles for extra guests or children. Flat screen smart television and wireless internet.

The king-size bed is suspended above the sitting room and accessed by a ladder (please see photograph).

Guest will have private access to the cottage and decking area, but are very welcome to explore the farm.

We are very happy to help you out with queries during your stay and your more then welcome to knock on the door if there is anything you require. But our policy is to leave our guests undisturbed so you can enjoy your stay in peace and quiet.

We love hosting and hope to provide a welcoming space in a setting offering tranquility and freedom to adventure the outdoors.

Nestled in the eastern edge of the Dartmoor National Park and situated between Tedburn St Mary (5 min drive) and picturesque village of Dunsford (7 min drive), both have a pub and well stocked village shops. The farm by day is ideally positioned to watch the workings of the farm unfold, it offers unspoilt beauty and soaring views for relaxing as well as great walking and picnicking potential. But ideally located for exploring the rugged scenery of Dartmoor and the beautiful Teignbridge Valley whether on foot, bike or horse! Cycle hire, fishing and horse riding are available locally. There are a selection of National Trust properties within a short distance, the nearest being Drogo Castle.

The farm is 9 miles from Exeter. Busy thriving and picturesque Dartmoor towns like Moretonhampstead, Chagford and Ashburton are a short-distance and offer plenty of things things to do and see as well as an excellent selection of good quality pubs and restaurants providing seasonal food, fine wine and Devon ales! The nearest beaches (Dawlish, Teignmouth and Shaldon) are reached within 40mins. Perfectly positioned with easy access to the A38 for touring the South Devon coastline with beautiful destinations like Dartmouth and Salcombe. Its even more accessible to the A30 for exploring the North Cornwall coast, The Eden Project is 1.5hrs away.

Having a car is necessary during your stay. We are about 2 miles outside the two nearest villages. But there are buses that go regularly from Tedburn and Dunsford into Exeter.

There is gravel parking at the property for one car.

If you enjoy quality and freshness of food then being situated in such a produce rich area anything from granola to wine, cider to venison can be locally sourced upon request. We have a good supply of our own organic eggs and a freezer full of own chickens and local pork that can be purchased by guests during your stay.

For those wanting to take a break from cooking during your stay, we can highly recommend the Devon Food Fairy who brings fresh homemade meals to your door.

What an amazing easter break we had! The photos do not do this place justice, it really is incredible. I came here for three days with my best friend and we had the most relaxing memorable stay, we are already very much looking forward to coming back at some point. The hosts Samuel and Felicity were extremely kind and made us feel welcome and at home, seeing hundreds of newly hatched chicks on the farm and lambs made our Easter that bit more special. Thank you so much! Becks & Harry x

Samuel and Felicity's place is beautiful. We were left to enjoy it, whilst it was a friendly welcome on check in and clear that if we'd need help we would have got it. The baths on the decking are a really terrific idea and really made it a special and unique stay.

The Old Piggery is a little slice of heaven - even better than the photos! The view from the bathtubs is stunning, and very special to have a soak by candlelight in the outdoors! The farm is wonderful, we had such a warm welcome from Sam and Felicity's parents and the dogs. It is perfectly located to explore Dartmoor and we couldn't believe how serene and peaceful it was. We will definitely be back.

What a find! The barn is quirky, beautifully put together and the perfect get away. The eggs, butter, milk etc that were left on arrival were just what we needed to get us started and the flowers were a beautiful touch. We didn't meet the hosts as they were on holiday but their parents were the perfect substitute hosts! We loved that the barn was on a working farm- lots going on but still very private. Need we mention those bath tubs?!!! A perfect valentines evening was had star gazing in them. Netflix in the tv was a great idea- get to veg on the couch with after a long walk. We have already recommended this gem to all our friends and would love to visit again!

Cosy and secluded with a rustic feel and stunning views! Amazing baths with plenty of hot water! Spacious with a fully equipped kitchen, and the bed... wow loved it! And so comfy! Great bathroom where I had the best shower I've ever had! Only 5minutes in the car to the nearest village shop And 2 lovely pubs! Many footpaths nearby for plenty of country walks! Wish I could have brought my dog! Overall the old piggery is an amazing retreat especially when you live in a busy city! We would highly recommend it! The hosts were also fab both taking time to pop in and introduce themselves but fully left us to our own devices during our stay! We even had butter, eggs (from the farm) and a bottle of bubbly left in the fridge to welcome us! Thank you!
