Sustainably built eco cottage with additional donga. Main bedroom with timber cladding and log fire plus 3 small bedrooms. Sustainable compost toilet and gas hot water shower. Beautiful bush and horse views. Basic functional outdoor spa.

A short 5min walk from the famous Lake Clifton thrombolites and national park walking trails and close to the estuary for crab scooping (free to borrow) and short drive to 4WD beach track. It is close to Mandurah, and on route between Perth and Bunbury.

SUSTAINABLY built air conditioned eco cottage with additional freestanding donga. Total of 4 bedrooms, 3 small bedrooms, all with new carpet, and one large main bedroom with recycled cork flooring. The cabin houses the main bedroom (one queen, one single) as well as the bathroom and one small bedroom. The donga is located behind the cabin so there are a few steps to walk (outdoors) between them. The donga houses the 2 remaining bedrooms (one double, one single) as well as a kitchen/dining/living area. The donga has lots of windows and a breeze most of the year but no air conditioning.

The kitchen is fully equipped with the basics - microwave, oven, fridge, sink, kettle, toaster, electric frypan etc. There is also a Cafe Italy coffee machine - please bring your own capsules if you wish to use it. Note also that the home has bore water so the kettle builds up with calcium quickly. This is perfectly fine to drink, but may come as a surprise if you are not used to water with heavy minerals. We descale it occasionally but it builds up with every use.

The bathroom contains the eco toilet (drop toilet) plus a shower and sink. Due to high calcium and lime content in the water, you may notice scaling on the tiles but rest assured they are wiped and disinfected each time between guests.

Beautiful bush views from deck (currently being replaced due to white ant damage) and all round. There is a hot water spa on the deck (please clean out leaves yourself as they reappear within minutes), but if you use it, please be careful on the decking while it is under maintenance.

Linens, towels, toilet paper, firelighters, matches, firewood provided. Bring your own personal insect repellant and if you plan to light the log fire, please collect your own kindling.

The property is private and secluded, away from the hustle and bustle and surrounded by beautiful tuart and gum trees and horse paddocks. It is just a short 5min walk to the famous Lake Clifton thrombolites and the Cape Bouvard Winery. Down the coast just a short drive from Mandurah and in the heart of he people region.

Help available at any time during stay (unless we happen to be off on holidays). Extras by arrangement, including horse rides, fresh organic bread delivered in morning.

The property is a short 5min walk from the world famous thrombolites in the beautiful Lake Clifton and the Cape Bouvard Winery. It is just a few minutes' drive from the 4WD beach track that runs from White Hills to Preston Beach and is close to the estuary.

Herron is part of Mandurah and part of the Peel region of Western Australia. This uniquely beautiful and interesting area includes part of the Yalgorup National Park and its Ramsar registered wetlands.

Closest public transport is 10 minutes away in Dawesville. In short, you'll need a car! Car rental is available either at Perth Airport or cheaper options in the city or in Mandurah (locally).

It is a rural property and accommodation is basic (no luxuries). Due to overwhelming guest demand we have chosen to provide NO television so you can stay in tune with nature. We do offer NBN internet (free of charge) if you can't help yourself! :) Remember this is a rural property - please take responsibility for yourself and your children. We clean the home of mice, spiders, dust etc but don't be surprised if you encounter some - it's the country after all! :) You are in the middle of bush and spiders re-surface overnight.

The drop toilet is environmentally friendly but that also means at certain times of year you may get the occasional interesting odour.

Importantly, the "play equipment" out the front is for decorative purposes only and does NOT meet Australian Standards. No responsibility will be taken for injuries as a result of using it! Decking has white ant damage and is due to be replaced - again no access permitted.

The cabin is in a wonderful location to explore the Peel region and set amongst beautiful Tuart trees. Lovely laying under the trees in the hammock. We didn't meet our hosts but they were accommodating and helpful when contacted. This was like camping but with comfortable bed and armchairs/sofa. Suited us and we enjoyed our time. The steps to the kitchen need some attention to make them more stable.

Thank you it was a great escape and adventure for the kids! They loved waking up and seeing the horses in the mornings and the kangaroos in the evenings and our dog loved the space and freedom to run around. We will definitely come again!

This place was great for my partner and I. Secluded and just the basics. If you are looking for a no frills base to camp out without the camping, this is it. Would I stay again? Yes, and yes again.

We didn't get to meet Daniela although we talked for a bit on the phone. Mark came to meet us at the lodge and was very warm and quickly got the scoops for our crap-scooping adventure at the nearby estuary ( highlight of our stay ). We appreciate that :) although had no luck catching any crap because of the low season. The place is actually quite a different experience for us from the many possitive reviews I read on AirB&B. I wonder whether I missed out something here... It was full of mosquitoes and bugs when we arrived at about 5.30pm but I guessed this is to be expected of such a rural farmstay. What we are not prepared with are the "eco" bathroom's bad odour and the chokage we experienced with the kitchen sink and bathroom "tray" . The Kitchen sink was choked throughout the night despite Mark's sincere effort to de-choked it at 10pm at night. The kitchen oven was dirty and cutlery and plates were greasy and not properly washed. The attached toilet and bathroom is not really hygienic because the water from the basin drains directly into the shower tray and tend to get choked there because of the slow draining process, I was actually standing in my own bath water when I took a quick shower. The outdoor 'spa' area has a lot of loose floor boards and espoused nails, definitely unsafe for children or older folks. Overall the place has great potential but is let down by poor housekeeping and maintenance. Would not recommend it to anyone unless they sorted out all the above issues.
