Self-catering, purpose built brand new (2010) and spotless studio flat with large balcony enjoying spectacular views over the Bosphorus and the historical peninsula (one can see the Topkapi palace, the Haghia Sophia church, the Blue Mosque, the Princes Islands, etc). Situated in the hip area of Cihangir, a stone's throw away from bustling Taksim square and Istiklal avenue.

Cihangir, part of the greater Beyoglu area, is to Istanbul what Notting Hill is to London or Marais to Paris or SoHo to New York. It is lively, artistic, utterly charming with its turn of the century and Art Deco architecture. It is still home of Turkey’s only Nobel Laureate, Orhan Pamuk who described this neighbourhood in his famous book on Istanbul.

Our street is a typical quiet street of Istanbul. Admittedly, the hills are steep and at times exhausting, but you can always call a taxi from one of the three nearby stations (they usually arrive within 3 minutes and are affordable).

From Cihangir you can pretty much walk or use public transport to get to all major attractions. The historical Sultanahmet (which forms the skyline seen from the flat) is 20 minutes on foot or a 10 minute tram ride with our local stop just 5 minutes of downhill walk. The famous Dolmabahçe (the New Ottoman Palace on the water) is just a 15 minutes walk. Meanwhile, Taksim and its popular Istiklal Caddesi (Street) is a 10 minute walk up the hill. The neighnourhood itself is attractive for evening entertainment such as bars, restaurants, cafes. In the summer there are crowds sitting outside until early hours of the morning. In short, this is a buzzing, fashionable and yet quite relaxed historic neighbourhood of Istanbul.

As I live nearby, I would be glad to help and advise you. Nothing beats the tips and hints given by a local!

Koray has been very obliging and available. The Flat is exactly how is appeared on the pictures and even better. The view is really spectacular and unique in Istanbul, at any hour of the day or night. The flat was perfectly clean and almost new. We had a wonderful time in this lovely place. We would certainly rent the same place if hopefully we ever come back to Istanbul. There's no internet in the flat but it is easily found in almost all cafes around. . And if you can't bear too much sun, you should definitely bring some hats because there's no parasol on the terrace. The neighborhood is extremely pleasant, with nice bars and restaurants, and is also very quiet and close to tram station.

I love a great view so this super studio fitted the bill very nicely indeed! Day and night the Bosphorous and its stream of ferries, boats, cruise ships, tankers and even a submarine made for fascinating viewing. I relished pulling back the curtains of a morning to see which cruise ship had either docked already that morning or was manouevring slowly through the waters and into position. The famous Istanbul skyline was beguiling too both day and night. The nearby area up the hill is quite trendy with lots of popular cafes on Akarsu Yokusu which also have wifi if you need it. The tram is about a 10 minute walk away providing easy access to the old town and its world famous attractions, also to Kabatas where you can catch the ferry to Princes Islands (recommended). Koray is a great host, knowledgable and well travelled. Although I did not need to contact him during my stay it was reassuring to know he was on hand in case of emergencies. BTW the studio is far enough away from Taksim to avoid any trouble there.

I stayed at Koray's beautiful little studio for five weeks, and found it a great home away from home. The kitchen has all the basics - small fridge, stove, microwave; and there is a washing machine in the bathroom. The neighborhood is part of the pluses - Cihangir is a great place to relax at the end of the day. There are great cafes and restaurants all around, with Taksim and Istiklal just a short walk away. There are also plenty of supermarket/vegetable market options around within just a few minutes' walk. The place is new, clean, and everything works perfectly. What really makes this place stand out, however, is the view: you wake up every morning, throw back the curtains and see the Bosphorus to your left and the Golden Horn to the right, with the old city's skyline of minarettes and castle walls right before you. Koray himself is a warm, gracious host who met me and my boyfriend at 3 am when we landed in Istambul, and helped out with tips about the city. Transportation to Sultanahmet, the Asian side and elsewhere is easy to find and plentiful. The tram lines run at the bottom of Cihangir, and can drop you at the Blue Mosque in about 15 minutes. Ferris for the Asian side and elsewhere leave from two stops within 20 minutes' walk ( or a couple tram stops) from the flat. There is no internet in the studio, but cafes nearby all have wi-fi; also, there is no elevator, which was not a problem for me but should be taken into account. Overall, I heartily recommend the flat. Enjoy!

Spectacular view, nice apartment, good location, excellent and caring host - everything was as described and expected. My wife and I (frequent travellers, age 65+) fully enjoyed our nine day stay in Koray's flat. Thanks a lot, Koray, for making our visit to Istanbul such a great experience!
