Tzununa is an untouched and authentic Kaqchikel village. Much quieter and with less hustle and bustle than the other lake towns, Tzununa is an undiscovered gem, full of charm and tranquility. Yet to be developed into a tourist hub, you are likely to hear only the sounds of children playing or church singing, with a chorus of insects at night.
If hiking and nature is your thing, there are a multitude of different walks of varying difficulty for you to tackle. A stunning waterfall lies only 25 minutes away, and there is the famous Jailbalito hike with amazing views across the lake.
You can order smoothies and veggie delights here with us, or you can wander to Maya Moon or the Hotel Bamboo for European food and drink with great views and atmosphere. There are also a few local restaurants for cheap and easy options for food

Katy, the owner, has been living on Lake Atitlan for a couple of years. She knows all about what the lake and surrounding area has to offer. Hikes, retreats, restaurants, transportation options, best views- hit her up for some local info. She is an experienced yoga teacher and masseuse and would be happy to give a lesson or massage on request.
This is a really quiet little town, as of yet not on the main tourist route. It is a cheaper and more chilled option than staying in some of the more well known lake towns. The locals mainly consist of subsistence farmers, fishermen, weavers and tienda owners. Get away from the craziness of the backpacker circuit and soak up some rural goodness.
We are 5 minutes from the dock from where you can catch a boat to anywhere on the lake. San Marcos is a 5 minute (5 quetzal) ride, San Pedro and Pana (15 quetzal) take around 20 minutes. There are many tuk tuks for easy and cheap transportation. Walking is a really pleasant option to take in the views- please ask staff for the safest routes.
