The Tall Birch Condo is located on the corner of Jewel Lake Road and Raspberry Road, a suburban neighborhood located in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a coastal neighborhood (i.e., borders the shores of Cook Inlet). The neighborhood is primarily made up of medium sized to large single-family homes and townhomes. Many of the residences in the neighborhood are established but not old, having been built between 1970 and 1999. An interesting bit of information about the area is prior to the ‘oil boom’ in the 1970’s, the land was utilized for farming purposes with the main crop being potatoes. The largest potato grower was the Weimer family; hence the name of the street the Tall Birch Condo is located: Weimer Drive.
The neighborhood has some outstanding things about the way it looks and its way of life that are worth highlighting. Do you like a coastal setting? If so, this neighborhood may be to your liking. The Tall Birch Condo neighborhood is within one (1) mile of Cook Inlet. This boasts many amenities and recreational activities that are attractive to residents and visitors alike.
DeLong Lake Park is less than one (1) mile from the front door and has hiking trails, swimming and fishing opportunities from a dock (for Arctic char, Chinook salmon, rainbow trout, salmonid hybrid). Jewel Lake Park is approximately two (2) miles from the Tall Birch Condo (accessed at the end of 88th Avenue.) and is a 40.26 acre community-use park with a swimming beach, fishing dock, picnic shelter, playground, parking and picnic areas, and other recreational amenities. Kincaid Park is also approximately two (2) miles from the Tall Birch Condo and sidewalks lead directly to trails within the Park, helping you enjoy a nice stroll. Kincaid Park is situated among 1,400 acres of rolling, forested hills and beautiful scenery and total length of trails extends more than 30 miles, most of which are lit in the winter for skiing. Kincaid Park is situated on an old glacial moraine and offers one of America's top trail systems as well as Anchorage's largest moose population. It is also the terminus of the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. From Kincaid Park, there is a spectacular view of Mt. Susitna across Cook Inlet; Fire Island to the Southwest; both Mt. Denali and Mt. Foraker to the North; and arguably, the best sunsets in Anchorage! Many species of wildlife roam free within the park. There is even a motorcross track at Kincaid Park. Connor’s Bog is within walking distance of the Tall Birch Condo and is one of the designated off-leash dog parks in the City of Anchorage. It’s more than a dog park, however; it's an easy and flat trail system, close to Ted Stevens airport. I've seen runners, mountain/fat bikers, casual walkers, and families with their dogs (leashed/unleashed) enjoying this trail!
Within one (1) block of the Tall Birch Condo are several shopping plazas where you can find food, a salon, and coffee shops. One block to the west is a shopping plaza with Tastee Freez, where you can find a soft serve ice cream cone, or the Kincaid Grill, one of Anchorage’s premier restaurants and home to the famous, Chef Al. There is also a salon where you can book a manicure, pedicure or massage after a fun-filled Alaskan vacation. One block to the south is the famous Kaladi Bros. Café is one block away and local artists’ are featured often. Also in this shopping complex is Uncle Joe’s pizza which has been voted best of Anchorage on several occasions. Further to the south (approximately two (2) miles) is a grocery store (Carrs/Safeway), bowling alley (Jewel Lake Bowl), a hardware store (Ace Hardware), and several other restaurants.
The Tall Birch Condo is conveniently located between 15 and 30 minutes one-way to both the bustling downtown district of the City of Anchorage as well as what is referred to as the ‘south side’ where most of the larger shopping complexes are located. This is a very short commute in both directions. Whereas having access to your own automobile would be ideal, there is a public bus stop at the end of the road to the Tall Birch Condo and the public bus system travels all over town with minimal change-overs. Taxis to-and-from the Tall Birch Condo to anywhere in Anchorage are reasonably priced due to its central location.
The Tall Birch Condo is also conveniently located close to the Anchorage International Airport. A short, less than $10 cab ride will get you to-and-from the airport. Immediately adjacent to the Anchorage International Airport is the Lake Hood Seaplane base, the busiest seaplane base in the world. There is a lovely path that circumnavigates Lake Hood where at any given time you can see float-equipped and wheeled planes taking off and landing. The neighborhoods surrounding Lake Hood, including that of the Tall Birch Condo, have several attractive eateries and are considered the newest, up-and-coming neighborhood in Anchorage.

The Tall Birch Condo is located on what is locally referred to as 'four corners'; the corner of Raspberry Road and Jewel Lake Road. The address to the property is 6601 Weimer Drive, Apt H, Anchorage, Alaska 99502.

From the airport - the airport exits to the east, (towards the mountains) on International Road. Take a right on Jewel Lake and then a left on Blackberry Road. Then take a left right on Raspberry and a right on Weimer Drive.

From the south - From the Seward Highway, merge onto Brayton Drive. Use the left 2 lanes to turn left onto O'Malley Rd/Walter J. Hickel Pkwy and continue to follow Walter J. Hickel Pkwy until you see the exit for Raspberry Road. Take the Raspberry Road exit then turn left onto Raspberry Road. After 1.3 miles, turn right onto Weimer Drive.

From the north - Take AK-1 S to E 5th Ave in Anchorage and continue onto AK-1 S until it becomes East 5th Avenue. Continue on E 5th Ave. Turn left onto L Street and L street becomes Minnesota Dr/Walter J. Hickel Pkwy. In 3.2 miles, take the Raspberry Rd exit; keep right at the fork and merge onto Raspberry Road for 1.1 miles then turn right onto Weimer Drive.

Once taking a right on Weimer, proceed into the cul-de-sac and the Tall Bitch Condo will be on the right-hand side. A designated parking spot labeled 'H' will be ready for you!

The Tall Birch Condo Association has rules about smoking that all tenants and guests must abide by. There is no smoking allowed inside the buildings. Smoking must occur greater than 10 feet away from the building. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.

People other than those in the Guest party set forth above may not stay overnight in the property. Any other person in the property is the sole responsibility of Guest. Guests are not allowed to exceed the occupancy limit agreed to in the initial booking without contacting the Owner.

Guests should not create excessive noise at a level that disturbs neighbors; Code-enforced neighborhood quiet hours are from 10:00p.m. – 8:00a.m.

All of the units are privately owned; the owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occurs while on the premises or its facilities. The Homeowners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises or others whom they invite to use the premise.

Keep the property and all furnishings in good order.

Only use appliances for their intended uses.

Pets are NOT allowed.

Parking is limited to 1 vehicle. Vehicles are to be parked in designated parking areas only. Any illegally parked cars are subject to towing; applicable fines/towing fees are the sole responsibility of the vehicle owner.

There is no daily housekeeping service. While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. We do not permit towels or linens to be taken from the units.

Any garbage must be stowed in the proper garbage or recycling receptacle, located in the front of the house.

The fireplace is not available for use.

Recently I had the opportunity to stay at the Tall Birch Condo hosted by Willow. We were passing through anchorage for one night and heading to Denali for a week. After being on a cruise for 7 days this was exactly the environment we needed to get our land legs back. The condo was easy to find, very tidy, very clean and all the amenities to make our stay extremely comfortable. I would highly recommend folks looking here to stay while in anchorage. It's only a few bucks from the airport in a cab, just a bonus. Thank you Willow for your hospitality and fantastic communication throughout!!!

I spent a fantastic week at Willow's condo with my son. Only good things to say and highly recommendz As advertised it is most spacious and clean. Parking is easy in front with a single flight to walk up. It is located an easy ride to the main roads into Anchorage and minutes from the aipport. What the pictures don't convey is the comfort of the living room couch and chair for hanging out, and the comfortable queen sized beds and black shades that made for good sleeping through the Alaskan summer nights. There is a mattress and plenty of extra linens and towels should you have an extra person. The kitchen was modern and well equipped where we did a lot of good cooking, and appreciated the washer and dryer. We also appreciated the wifi, and array of books and games. I got halfway through James Michner's Alaska, a great read, and look forward to finding a copy when I get home to finish it. Thanks, Willow. We'd enjoy staying with you again.
