This home is a summertime gem, with a lovely garden and yard and a wide open kitchen for entertaining or quiet bird watching. Winter offers good light, a warm fire and access to a fantastic backyard sauna. For those who enjoy open simplicity and walkability.
This traditional four square home is simple, clean, and bright. We like to describe it as rustic modern, and call it the Salmon Street Farmhouse, as a farmhouse it was, back when it was built in 1911. It has a gorgeous remodeled south-side of all glass doors, deck and garden that makes for beautiful summer meals, entertaining, and relaxation. The home includes a room with a queen sized bed, a full sized bed and one with 2 twins, designed for children. Enjoy the living room's fireplace in the winter, and bright open kitchen year round.
The home boasts a large (for a city) backyard with a patio and fire pit, and a small outdoor sauna for Portland long winter weather. There is a covered front porch with a hammock for lounging.
The home is close-in in a vibrant neighborhood with access to great transportation, coffee shops, restaurants and parks. A walk to downtown takes about 45min. Easy access by two direct bus routes.
Use of laundry, bicycles, and tennis rackets is negotiable for stays longer than 3 nights. The house is on one of Portland's busiest bicycle thoroughfares. So watch the calendar for fun bike day events throughout the summer months. Come, relax, and enjoy!
This is a close in (so very convenient) and vital little neighborhood, but all our neighbors have children (like us). We expect all our guests to respect this fact by not being overly loud and boisterous in the evenings after 10.
