Hello Ville – sorry that I didn’t have a change to write my review any earlier. Mike and I just returned to New York City today after spending three weeks in Finland and I finally had some time to put some words on the paper and explain how wonderful host you were. I must tell that staying in your off-grid paradise was full of great memories from the beginning to an end of our stay. No words will do the justice but I will give it a try. To get to his place, you need your own set of wheels or hitchhike. Getting there by public transportation (i.e. by bus) might pose its own restrictions. Ville was very accommodating to our arrival schedule as we met him around 6:30pm even our original plan was to be there by 2 pm. Ville was very fast to acknowledged our ever-changing arrival schedule either via AirBnB site or using regular SMS. Our first experience started with about 20 min boat ride to his place. I agree with the previous reviewers that the place he will take you is rustic, maybe 3 or 4 cottages that has been owned by his family for generations. The landscape is hilly with a small mountain river passing though his property giving really shooting sound effect. Evening started around the camp fire by making pancakes having a cup of tea and learning more of Ville’s Sami background, talking about environment and about our lives and traveling experiences. After few pancakes Ville suggested that we should have a “tent sauna”! Those who are not familiar about this style of sauna, it’s basically a canvas tent with a pile hot rocks in a metal container. The tent had just a room for three people, and the heat the hot rocks generated was just perfect. No shower yet but Ville suggested that we could jump to the mountain river to cool off… what a funny man he is! Well, maybe in the later in the summer a dip would have been nice, but the water was pretty chilly in early June. After a sauna, it was time for a bed. One of the pictures in his AirBnB site shows “laavu”, or the sleeping space where we stayed at. As you can see, it has a roof, two sides, the floor with a camping but no there is no front wall; just a mosquito net to keep them outside. Luckily, the beginning of the summer was about two weeks late so there were no mosquitoes around. Ville was kind enough to offer sleeping bags for us which was sufficient enough to keep us warm throughout the night. Next day it was time for some oatmeal and cup of coffee for breakfast before Ville dropped off back to our car by boat. If you are into rustic camping and sleeping outside, this is your place! Ville is a great and very interesting man to hang out with, and you will learn a lot...

Ville is an unmatched host, and his property is in one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. It is a rustic environment, and simple beautiful place to stay, think glamping, without the glam. Really beautiful, and worth doing battle with mosquitoes. I could spend weeks here.
