I'll have to take the opportunity to respond to Yann's complaints in this forum as unfortunately he didn't have the courtesy to mention any of it to us personally while they were here. I could have solved most of their issues for them if they had just communicated with us. This is our home and we take great pride in providing a welcoming experience to our guests, but in my 20 years work experience with hotel guests, those that write poor reviews after the fact rather than mention their issues at the time, are generally not capable of being made happy.
The $100/night price for a safe apartment (guarded by dobermans) that can accommodate a family of four with air conditioning, kitchen and a pool is not out of line for Nosara, and Yann was well aware of the price before booking.
Nosara is very dusty at this time of year, it is a sub tropical desert in fact, and our home, like all others, is on a dirt road. The apartment was cleaned the day Yann and his family arrived by a professional cleaning service, it was not dirty, it may however, have been dusty outside on the balcony.
Had Yann mentioned just once that he was having issues with the toilet, we could have fixed it for him, but he said nothing.
Had Yann mentioned that there were not enough glasses, I would have given him more, but he said nothing.
It is very clear in the description of our apartment that we have dogs and cats, and that anyone booking must be comfortable with animals. The dogs are a good part of the reason our house does not get broken into. Yann made no mention of the fact that he was bothered by the animals.
The location of our apartment is also very clear in the description, including road noise and the fact that we live downstairs.
Fortunately every single guest we've had other than Yann, has been very happy and told us personally that they loved our apartment and their stay with us, so I can let this go knowing that some people just prefer to complain behind the shield of the internet rather than try and resolve things like adults.
