Apartment Kerner a Charming apartment for up to Three Persons Located in the traditional wine village of Ellenz 9 kilometres from the castle town of Cochem and across the Moselle River from the picturesque village of Beilstein. This charming studio style apartment is our triple bedded apartment and is located on the second floor in the oldest part of the house, it has a living area of 40 m². The high ceilings, original wooden floors and an old, original preserved watercolour mural in the single bedroom was successfully uncovered during the restoration. In the sleeping/ living area, there are two 90 x 200 cm European Single Size Beds so a twin arrangement. Furthermore, there is a separate bedroom with a 90 x 200 cm European Single Bed.

A LED HD flat screen TV with Satellite ( mainly German Channels however there is a section of International News Channels available ), as well as a Comfortable sofa giving you a relaxing lounge area there is also an En Suite Shower room complete with washbasin/WC complimentary toiletries are included as are Hand & Shower Towels.
The apartment also comes complete with a dining area and compact kitchen that is separated from the rest of the apartment . The kitchen area is functional and suitably equipped to prepare breakfast and small meals.
Complimentary welcome pack of j.j Darboven ® Filter Coffee and a selection of Eilles Tea Diamond ®Tea Bags are available for your arrival, for those who prefer to eat out in a selection of restaurants in the area there is a good choice in close proximity and as well as a fantastic choice of the wonderful Moselle Wine, you will find this area the prefect location for a relaxing break.

We also have 3 other apartments listed all apartments sleeping up to 2 persons and are in the same building perfect for small groups/friends to rent together.
The Moselle Region is wonderful all year round although the main holiday season is from April - November and not forgetting the many winefests during the months of July, August and September

If you like walking, photography and exploring the peace and tranquillity of the Moselle Valley you will be very welcome in the wine village of Ellenz.

Our apartments are available all year especially for that quite out of the main season break and not forgetting Ellenz is a central location to visit the Christmas Markets ( Weihnachtsmarkt) in either Koblenz, Trier ,Bernkastel Kues or Cochem which begin each year from the end of November.

The House Zur Alten Weinkelter also has a Terrace to the side of the house with a secluded garden to the rear, perfect to sit and relax and enjoy a glass or two of fine Moselle Wine
For the slightly chiller autumn/ winter evenings we have an area in the garden with a wood oven so why not sit in front of the fire and request a glass ( or 2 ) of Winzer Glüwein ( Traditional Hot Riesling White Wine direct from the wine makers of Ellenz )
We also have a traditional vaulted Wine Cellar that is open on selected evenings throughout the year

Zur Alten Weinkelter is our home as well as our business which we are passionate about and we have pleasure in welcoming many guests to enjoy the Mosel region. Myself and Mike will generally be resident throughout your stay and we like to welcome you in person however we are also happy for you to enjoy your stay privately this fine and we will be around if you need us. Zur Alten Weinkelter is independently owned and we like to insure your stay with us is enjoyable and when it is time to say goodbye “we hope not forever “ we will be there to wish you a safe onward journey.

Ellenz is a traditional wine village within the Moselle Valley & in the stretch known as the Cochemer Krampen, a 24-kilometre-long stretch of the Moselle made up of many winding bows
Ellenz is a quite relaxing & non commercial village,where the local's welcome you as friends, surrounded by vineyards you will see the local wine producers tending the vines that make the wonderful moselle wine that can be tasted and enjoyed, & with the house known as Zur Alten Weinkelter located in the Hauptstrasse in the heart of the village you will be staying in a piece of local history

Ellenz is served by a local bus service that will take you in to the castle town of Cochem and if you request our guest ticket then your journey is “ free”
from Cochem you can link with the Deutsche Bahn Rail Network, With the options of day visits to the towns of Koblenz & Trier

Parking is also available on site we can accommodate up to 4 standard vehicles and is generally on a first come basis ,however if all spaces are occupied there is plenty of free spaces in the village and maybe only a short walk from the house ,however you are welcome to drop your luggage off at the house with ease.

On confirmation of reservation we kindly ask that if you can inform us of an approximate arrival time by sending us a message,
we have a time listed between 15.00 (3pm)-19.00 (7pm) however we are happy to be flexible as long as we are notified ,this does not only help us to plan the day/evening but also to offer flexibility for other guests that may also be staying with us previously and maybe request for example a later departure time

The apartment is strictly NON SMOKING
However SMOKING is permitted on the Terrace and in the Garden

Guests found SMOKING in the Apartments and building will be requested to leave and their rental terminated with no refund
And an additional cleaning charge maybe requested up to 200.00€ , sorry if this may seem harsh but as the house is a listed (Denkmal) building and of historical importance this is a rule that we cannot and will not ignore.

We ask that all guests respect other guests that maybe staying in the building during their stay especially when entering and leaving the building.

it may not be suitable for people with restricted mobility but please ask, Pets ( one small dog ) are accepted in this Apartment please ask for our pet policy, Children under the age of 16 years of age are not permitted

This is a very cosy appartment in a truly atmospheric building. It was clean and tidy, had all the basics we needed, and easily accommodated three of us. It goes without saying that staying in such a historical building is an experience in itself. It is located in a very peaceful and quiet village where you can really appreciate the local setting, including the wine cellar next door. Maria was very welcoming, communication was swift and easy. We really enjoyed our stay in Maria's place. Thank you!

Beautiful antient acommodation,cosy room with everything we needed for our stay. Excellent wine in the appartment, perfect location for exploring the area. Maria was great and very helpful, gave us lot if good tips. We can recommend!

We had an amazing weekend at the Kerner Apartment. Staying in a beautiful historical building made it even more special. The apartment is spacious, nice and clean en the bed was very, very good! Maria made us feel home from the beginning with a personal letter at arrival, and some beautiful wines available... The building is surrounded by the typical beautiful green nature from the Mosel area: wine fields everywhere the possibility to take a boattrip and the villages of Ellenz, Polterdorf and Beilsten all in walking distance. In the morning you can also walk to a nice bakery for a good German breakfast... A couple of things as advice: - Take cash money, there is no possibilty to pay with card and taking cash in the villages - Visit the villages during the wine festivals, great fun! - Next to the apartment is a great hidden 'wine keller'. Nice people and great wine! Maria, thanks for the great weekend!

Hello I am Maria

Together with my Husband Michael we re-located to the traditional wine producing village of Ellenz on the Moselle in February 2010.

We are both originally from London England, however my family are originally from the Republic of Ireland and re located to London in the late 1950s and Michael has a German mother originally from Leipzig in Saxony and his Father from London.
We saw and fell in love with this 500 year old listed building in the centre of the village and decided to make it our home. The property was formerly owned by the Electorate of Trier and built in 1531, our aim is to restore the building to as near as its original condition as possible, but we remember we are only custodians of this piece of local German history, so while we do this, we would like to welcome you and to offer our self catering accommodation, we manage the property ourselves and like to be on hand throughout your stay and personally greet all our guests on arrival.
So come and stay and enjoy this wonderful part of Germany and join us for a glass or two of fine Moselle Wine.
