The unit is perfectly located for visitors on Don Gaspar Avenue within walking distance to the Plaza, the Railyard, Canyon Rd. and half a block from the State Capitol rotunda.
The apartment is a territorial adobe set in a HISTORICAL house built when Santa Fe was a part of Mexico in the mid 1800's and retains many original features. My family has lived in this property since 1952. This REAL adobe unit is cool in the Summer and warm in the Winter.
The apartment comprises a large open plan front room, one bedroom with a separate 3/4 en-suite bathroom suitable for a single person with a separate shower. A full bathroom with a historical bathtub is accessible through the corridor/hallway with shelving. The front room has a comfortable additional bed, made of a Shikibuton trifold foam mattresses, which can be also be transformed into two twin beds or a king size bed.
The small kitchen contains a stove and a clothes washer/dryer. The dining room is in the adjacent room. The kitchen/dining room has full amenities with a table for 4. There is another table in the front room by a large picture window which can be used for dining as well or as a work space.
The apartment can comfortably accommodate 4 people with the bathroom in the adjoining corridor. This vacation rental is better suited for a single person, couple or small family.
This unit is listed as a separate one for fewer people or can be combined with my other listing as an entire, whole house for larger parties or more space. The apartment is totally self-contained with access to a SHARED front and back porch. The back bedroom has an exit to the furnished back porch on the west side where people can enjoy food/drinks & hang out and it may also be shared with the guests in the adjoining unit. The courtyard on the west, south & north side are also shared and together they are spacious. If you wish to be alone on a patio, since there are four areas, one can always find their private space where one can socialize, relax under the shade of the trees, and/or just lay in the sun with food/drinks as well. Parking is available for 2 cars near the front entrance on the property for this unit.

This sweet historic 1200 sq.ft. adobe unit is NOT available when the entire 1st floor, 2400 sq.ft., is rented and visa versa. In other words this is a home with 2 units side by side separated by adjoining doors, which are opened when the whole first floor of the house is rented.
Please note that when both units are occupied, you can sometimes hear your neighbors. Therefore, quiet time is necessary after 10:00pm.

As a native Santa Fean, I can provide any information on dining, shopping, local attractions, events and local history you may need. I can provide guided historical tours of downtown Santa Fe as well. I love to interact with my guests and would be happy to give you a tour around town. We could have coffee or lunch together or share beer/wine on our patio with my German husband, Eduard, when available. Just ask me a.s.a.p. when you arrive or before, so I can plan for it ahead of time. Also, I give my guests who prefer privacy -- space, but we are here in the separate apartment upstairs when needed.

Our gentle Collie in the backyard has sadly passed away, so there is now access to the back porch. We have a courtyard with outside furniture on the south side as well.
Since this is a HISTORICAL home, we want to let you know the shower cabin is neither wide nor real tall in the 3/4 en-suite bathroom off of the bedroom. Therefore it is to be noted that the shower and toilet in this same area are NOT well suited for very tall or larger people, but there is full bathroom off the corridor, which is enclosed with a sink, toilet and antique bathtub. If you have severe back problems, all the bathroom sinks in the two bathrooms are kind of low.
Again as this is a historical house, the kitchen, front room and bathrooms do not have modern appliances or large furnishings. We cannot fit a large couch in through the thick adobe doorway, for example. Also, in the Winter we have forced air heating, which a light sleeper may hear. Especially during the high season, when the next door apartment is also occupied, you can sometimes hear your neighbors, so we ask for quiet time after 10:00 pm.
We live in the separate apartment upstairs and will be close by/next door, if you should need anything. Please communicate with us via phone, e-mail messaging through Airbnb and/or knocking on our door. Also, there are family member numbers to call in the event of our absence/unavailability for emergencies in the Guest Resource/House Manual section of this listing for booked guests, as well as a taped list of the same names & numbers on the lid of the mailbox on the outside porch. Sorry, we DON'T TEXT. Please do NOT be shy about asking us for anything that you may need or if something does not work a.s.a.p., so that we can take care of any issue a.s.a.p.

NOTE FOR MONTHLY RENTERS ONLY:
The cancellation policy for monthly renters is strict and the security deposit is $250. Also, monthly renters will need to buy their own supplies after the initial ones are used up.
PLEASE, NO SMOKING inside the apartment. Some people are allergic to the smoke smell that lingers after. Since there is absolutely NO SMOKING allowed only inside the house, please be aware of the dry climate in Santa Fe should you choose to smoke outside.
Since this unit is side-by-side to the other unit, quiet time after 10:00 pm is necessary.
When you arrive you may read the simple information sheet on location and sign a one page agreement.
