We thoroughly enjoy living in Alameda and the East Bay. The stately Victorian homes and tree lined streets, charming shops and restaurants on nearby Park Street, make it a very unique and special place to live. Wouldn't want to live anywhere else!

Walk to shops and restaurants, the beach and parks. Public transportation is plentiful - BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) stations are a bus ride away. Express buses take commuters to the city from several locations within three or four blocks of the house. On street no meter parking is available on our street. Oakland International airport is five miles from Alameda. From SFO International terminal take BART to Fruitvale station. $12 cab ride gets you to the house. You can also hop on a bus from Fruitvale that takes you to our street.

If antiquing is your thing, Alameda and nearby towns offer lots of it! Lovely little family owned shops, tons of ethnic restaurants and Lake Merritt in Oakland close by. Alameda Hospital is half a block and the Kaiser Hospital in Oakland is close by. Make Alameda your jumping off point for the wine country, San Francisco, Sausalito, Tiburon or Berkeley. And dont forget the East Bay state parks and giant redwoods of Muir Woods in Marin County.

Nicky was very welcoming throughout our stay. Her restaurant and transportation suggestions were extremely helpful. The apartment was just as advertised and well appointed. The neighborhood was safe and walkable.

This historic Victorian in Alameda was the perfect residence for our bay area getaway. We were close to everything and had all the amenities we needed. The parking space was a great feature, being such a rare commodity in the bay area. Nicky was very accommodating to our needs and made us feel right at home.

Very well done remodel in a great neighborhood. We took the ferry from Alameda to SF which worked out really well. Nicky's flat is a great value (if you have a car) and we would absolutely stay here again.

The apartment is as pictured, very lovely. Recently remodeled with great care, it is clean, spacious, with a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable furniture and very comfortable bed. It is in a great neighborhood, with beautiful Victorian homes all around, and is a short walk to Park Street shops and restaurants, and to South Shore Center, with more great restaurants and shopping. Super Safeway and Trader Joe's at South Shore make shopping for groceries easy, and the kitchen is equipped with most basic necessities.

Nicky's Alameda home is simply lovely! It was the perfect place for my parents to stay for an extended visit near our home. They really appreciated how guest-friendly the apartment was - it had every item one would need, and instructions on how to operate them. There is even a collection of guidebooks, ferry schedules, maps, etc. The apartment itself is beautiful, and the bathrooms and washer/dryer appear recently updated. My parents felt right at home.

Both of us have lovingly and faithfully renovated and restored this 1898 Victorian "colonial revival" home. I am fortunate enough to have a successful career in the hospitality industry and truly enjoy making guests comfortable and happy during their visit to Alameda. Eddie, a retired civil engineer and general contractor, has upgraded all the systems and ensures it is maintained meticulously. We were honored to receive an historical preservation award from Alameda for our work a few years ago. In my spare time I love combing consignment stores, yard sales and antique shows in search of unique vintage pieces of furniture which I enjoy re-imagining and restoring. Many of my pieces are used in the apartment which is updated occasionally with new finds. Things we cannot live without: our wonderful friends, our sons, and two cats, Quentin and Socks (with only three legs). Now we are senior citizens and the kids have flown the coop, they are our surrogate children! Our cats are indoors only and not allowed in the rental.
