Located in the fast growing downtown area of New Orleans, this apartment is a piece of history with all the amenities of today. The neighborhood is a mix of businesses, homes, condos, and apts. It's a 15 min. walk to the French Quarter, 5 min. walk to the Super Dome, and 10 min. walk to the Convention Center. Restaurants and coffee shops are on every block. Registration # 17STR-10171
The apartment is located inside a 1865 building built by renowned architect Henry Howard. The interior is full of old-world character, from high ceilings with crown molding, wide baseboards, coved ceilings, hidden staircases and exposed brick. It's comfortable and private with New Orleans artwork and books in every room. The front room is a spacious kitchen with 14ft. ceilings. You walk up a short flight of stairs to the living room which has a coved ceiling. The coved ceilings are continued into the bedroom that has exposed brick. If you like old historic buildings, you will love this one!
Servicios y zonas comunes
There is a courtyard, but it's not the loveliest of spaces. One day it will be. :) My dogs use it and I pick up and hose down every outing. If you bring your pet you are welcome to use it. And even if you don't, you are welcome to use it.
Atención a los huéspedes
I live and work out of the building, so I will be around if my guests need anything. We will share a front entrance and hallway, other than that, you'll have a very private space with all you need. My dogs Benny and Emma go out to the courtyard in the morning and evening. That may be the only time you run into us. I will keep them on leashes because they are big dogs and get very excited around new people. Benny loves to jump and give kisses. Emma sometimes can be a bit stand-offish. If you bring your pet (and they are welcome) we'll have to make a schedule. I love animals and want this to be a safe place for all them!
Otros aspectos destacables
I foster a local shelter's kittens and cats. They are in a different part of the building so not to worry if you are allergic. The room they are in is right above the apartment living room so if you hear little pitter, patter of feet it's just them playing.

Animals are a huge part of my life. I understand they are part of the family for a lot of people. While my two dogs are people friendly, they are used to being the only dogs in the building, so we'll need to schedule courtyard time or walk time and discuss our pets' temperaments. Emma and Benny will always be on leashes, I also walk them one at a time. I'm a VERY responsible pet owner and expect you to be as well.
Guests must be over 21 years old.
Hi! Thanks for checking out my listing. I’m a city girl born and raised in Miami, Florida, but now consider myself a New Orleanian through and through. I moved to New Orleans in 1990 for a graphic design job. In 1994 it was either move to New York and pursue my design career there, or go out on my own in New Orleans. I did the latter and have never looked back!
I've lived in most areas of the city and each section has a personality of it's own. In 2001 I set roots downtown when I bought a Henry Howard (renowned architect in the 1800s) townhouse built in 1865. It still needs a lot of work, i.e. has character, even after all these years, but it's home and a labor of love.
I live and work on the second and third floor and rent out two spaces on the first floor, one residential and one commercial. When my residential tenant of three years moved out I decided to try Airbnb. I can’t think of a better way to share my love for this historic building and colorful city than with travelers from all over the world! In the early 1900's this building was utilized as a "flop house," so in a way I'm bringing back some of Baronne Street history, albeit in a more upscale manner. :) The neighborhood is close to the French Quarter, Superdome and Convention Center. As well as many hot spots and famous restaurants. There's even a fully stocked (locally owned) grocery store and CVS only one and half blocks away.
Since I’m new here at Airbnb my listing is still a work in progress. I will continue to update my profile and guidebook! As your host I'll strive to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I’m thrilled to have ten guests booked already, so please come back soon for reviews and updates!
Happy and safe travels!
