Gea is a very roomy apartment for a group of three. We had a lot of room to move around, and downstairs was quiet and the AC kept it quite cool. Pros and cons for future travelers: Pros: It's very pretty. It's not terrifically far from the center of town. It's about a 10 minute walk from a fantastic restaurant we found: Simbiosi. It's also close to Carrefour Express for groceries. It's roomy and the ACs worked pretty well, which was a plus since it was hotter than the Dickens when we were there. They accommodated our late arrival, even when we had to communicate that last minute, due to spotty wifi. Neat jet tub. They have a comprehensive guestbook with recommendations. Cons: There was a very bad smell (mildew/sulfur) downstairs the entire duration of our stay. It was there upon arrival and often woke us up from sleep, it was so bad. They were very apologetic and offered to come check it out, but since we only had three days there, we didn't have time to wait to meet them in the apartment and miss our trips into Florence. I know they say they can't provide extra things like meal service, but you'll need to buy dish soap (if you want to hand wash instead of using the dishwasher), salt and pepper, oil/butter for cooking and water if you don't want to drink from the tap. They had a water filter (Brita type) but no visible filter. I love that they had a Bialetti and another similar coffee maker but they barely fit on the gas range and have to be precariously balanced and watched. It was also really hard to reliably get hot water in the showers. The bathtub was 100% for hot water, though. We checked the tank to make sure it was running, and it was good to go, so not sure what the issue was. The hosts were very nice and tried to help us out, especially with the smell but given time constraints and how pervasive it was, I'm not sure it would have been resolved on our trip. Hope it works out for the next guests!

Pros: The apartment was beautifully decorated and the layout was great. There was a book in the apartment that had answers to so many questions like wifi passwords, how to work the laundry, etc. The apartment felt very safe with numerous locks to get in. The hosts were helpful and flexible when our wifi didn't work in the previous town to get a hold of them on arrival time. The apartment was also clean. Cons: my biggest complaint was the noise! This apartment is on a very busy street. From the upstairs loft, you could hear all the cars, motorcycles, etc. Ambulances went by all hours of the night, people shouted all hours of the night from their motorcycles, and I had a very hard time sleeping with the noise level. My kids in the basement said the noise was not bad but they could see all the lights from the vehicles. That could be an easy fix with an extra heavy curtain. The owners did all they could to the main window that the noise came from and it's not their fault it's so loud!! I only warn those that struggle with sleeping with loud noises. We live in the country so we are not used to cars going by all hours of the night. My other complaint is the location isn't fantastic. The most difficult part was finding food nearby. The nearest grocery store is a mile away in the opposite direction of all the sights. We stay away from the center of the town with kids anyways but this one was the furthest from getting to anywhere. There weren't any restaurants super close either. I would recommend Windows on Italy and the house to anyone who understands the above information.

Our family absolutely love this place! This is a beautiful and spacious place. Everything looks new and clean! However, it takes around 10-15 minutes to walk to the train station.

The apartment was very clean and spacious as advertised. Located on the first floor which is nice when you have lots of luggage. It was definitely worth spending the extra money to be able to stay in such a beautiful apartment. About a 15-minute walk to the Duomo and central Florence. We didn’t spend a lot of time near the apartment since we were visiting my brother who was studying abroad (he was located near the Duomo), but the neighborhood and very nice, quiet and safe. Would definitely stay at this apartment again if I ever went to Florence for a second time.
