Cloudy winters, warm sunny summers, our mother city has it all. Climb our mountains: de-stress, invigorate. Hike our Zandvlei Nature Reserve; sight a lifer.
Paddle beyond the break from famous Surfer's Corner (offshore winter winds best).
Our garden flat is a peaceful, quiet night of dreams inspiring you to do it again the next day.
Welcome!
PS: Cape Town's drought is over.
And, we've improved your wi-fi connections in the flat.

El espacio
Taringa, the name of our home, abounds with indigenous fauna in the front and back garden.
This attracts all sorts of bird life, from little rooi-bekkies (red beaked finches) to Ha-de-dahs (glossy Ibis).
We have a Cape Robin which nests regularly and an olive thrush who pulls out our beloved earth worms.
All this may be viewed while having your morning coffee. Our three small to medium sized dogs, Beckie, Jessie & Charley may want your loving attention but after you've made friends they will settle down as we all do with new friends.
That's of course, if you sit very quietly.
And, after a fun night out on the town, it's a great time to relax.

Servicios y zonas comunes
Enter through a green teak gate, then pass through another wooden gate on the north side of our house down a path (lit automatically by a safety light at night). This path is sheltered by creepers and trees to enter a tree'd back garden and the garden flat you'll be enjoying.
Each day you may wander down to our white sandy beaches, rent a surf board and paddle out to catch a wave. With a winter off-shore north-wester, the best surf is from May to September in Muizenberg.
Why not venture up one of our grand majestic mountains for the best views in the world. Peace and quiet too, away from the madden crowd.
You may just pop into our village and meet some locals over cup of tea and muffin.

Otros aspectos destacables
Cycling is another past-time.
Ask me about renting bicycles and my neighbour who conducts tours of various places of interest like Cape Point, Hout Bay, Constantia Nek, even Masiphumelele & Khayalitsha.
I can also point you in the direction of battery assisted cycle rentals where uphill pedalling is a synch.
Mountain climbing is also great fun, and, our mountains have caves one called Boomslang runs right through one mountain. As a teenager I used to explore these caves with candles, torches and friends. Mother always had more laundry to do after these adventures.
Surfing, of course, is all year round especially in winter when the offshore wind is blowing, creating perfect surfing conditions. Some excellent surfing schools on our beach front too.

We know almost everyone in our street.
Each home in Yarmouth Road has a story to tell.
Winnie's late husband, Ralph used to play his bagpipes to welcome the New Year in.
Glendyr has a dog which our three dogs love 'chatting' to.
Our dear friends Paul & Vera and their three children and two dogs visit often for tea and cake and chat.
Lawrence and his family live three or four houses up the road, while quiet Carol lives opposite them.
Rodney's grown-up children skate-board to False Bay College every morning.
Jabulani gets up at 'sparrows' to take his van-load of second hand clothes to sell in Vrygrond.
Round the corner we have a world famous saxophonist, Buddy Wells; and Jamie Jupiter (next door) is cutting another CD with his vocals and acoustic guitar. We are a happy community... Every year in October Muizenberg celebrates life with its own Festival of music, theatre, food and fun

I am a raconteur and an actor. And, just the other day, I was awarded my Tourist Guide Badge. This means besides telling the most awesome stories about our beloved country I can guide you around various parts of South Africa. These include the Garden Route up to Addo Elephant Park, Beaufort West and the Little Karoo and Namaqualand including the rugged Richtersveld. I share my life with my partner, two children and three dogs. The book I've just read is Laura Hilderbrand's Unbroken which I have past on to my eighteen year old son. He gave me Richard Dawkins' The God Delusion to read before that. Both books were thought-provoking; one questioning our belief system, the other highlighting the futility of war. Just started reading Barbara Kingsolver's The Poisonwood Bible. Now sometime has elapsed since reading the above tomes. I am busy with Frank Welsh's A HISTORY OF SOUTH AFRICA, Mark Hadden's THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT TIME and Antoinette Pienaar's DIE LANG MAN SONDER SKADUWEE. Ja, you didn't know that I understand Afrikaans, did you? The books I have just finished reading are Bell's Miniature Series on Painters on TURNER published in 1906, Roger Lucey's brilliant autobiography, BACK IN FROM ANGER which I highly recommend to those interested in music by an anti-apartheid activist Amidst all the above fun in my life is a collection of Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes lies on a small table in the smallest room (toilet) in our home. Great reading, laughing take on how we live. So you see live theatre and classical music are past-times I enjoy although I sometimes prefer being on stage doing the entertaining. Mangoes and pawpaws are not my favourite fruits. Bananas, pears and plums are. I'll tell you more after I've hosted a few guests. Always ready to host with a smile. The three sets of guests already under our wing were a delight and a pleasure. It's been very exciting and excellent fun having them. Theatre is the best tool for story-telling and once the story has made you laugh and cry it will etch a place in your heart forever. Now that about 18 months have past since I first put pen to this awesome website Air BnB I have hosted a good many guests some who have become good friends some who have disappeared into the ether all who have made Muizenberg a better place for having over-nighted at Taringa. Thank you, I hope you will return soon.

Durante tu estancia
If you wish I could show you a few sights, that's of course, if I'm 'resting'.
Resting?
It's a term we actors use when we're not on stage or in front of a camera.
It's also a reason why I can assure access 24/7 for Business Travellers.
And, great news: I have recently qualified as a Tourist Guide. I was born in Cape Town and know all the nooks and crannies, the ins and outs, the history; so, when you come and stay don't forget to ask me where you could go for some fun sights and sounds.
